They no longer have the soup and the noodles had barely any sauce on them and looked anemic. I've been here three times in two years. I work nearby and we come here for meetings once in a while. I have only good things to day about the place really. Easy to order. Customer service meet and greet is with a smile. Get your own drink, utinsils, napkins and what I liked was getting my own to-go box. I'm ready to go. The beef in my dad's dish was over-floured.... where's the beef? Any meat that is over-floured or over-starched is horrendous to eat. Fried rice also isn't like fried rice... I ordered the Pad Thai and thought it was ok... Not real pad thai but passable enough at these prices... until it ended up giving me a horribly upset stomach.And I don't have a sensitive stomach so I thought "well ok, let's see if it really is Pei Wei food" and tested it out over the next few days on my leftovers. The McDonald of Chinese food. Definitely an Asian Fusion place so if you're into that, then you might want to give place a try. Its concept is different where you pretty much order and pay for you food at the register. I do like the the simplistic menu where it doesn't overwhelmed you too much. However, they messed up our order and when I politely told them that was the wrong dish, the person gave us an attitude. We had to talk to a manager to get the order right. Stopped in after my trek to CarMax. In a very busy shopping center, a challenge finding a nearby parking spot even for lunch on a Friday. I was looking for a healthy option and my thoughts turned to their lettuce wraps. Always fresh, a great light meal. I'm amazed at how they always seemed to find the perfectly shaped lettuce. I like to sit at the bar and watch the orchestra of action behind the grill. These guys know their craft well. They were quite busy so it was fun to watch the four cooks spring into action as the main guy would read off the orders...in spanish no less. I thought I would give this a try as I was staying near this restaurant at a local hotel. It was within walking distance so I figured, why not? I previewed the menu before heading over and had my heart set on pad Thai. I walked in and ordered from a gentleman behind a TV screen that had the menu on it. I ordered the edamame, small, the crab Rangoon, also a small, and the shrimp pad Thai with extra shrimp. I walked over to Wegmans across the plaza to get something to drink while my food was prepared.I came back to the hotel with my order and sat down to eat. I started with the Adam mommy, and they provided salt on the side, which I appreciated. Let's be clear, it's hard to screw up edamame. Next they went with the crab Rangoon. It was odd. It was small, the ends were overly crispy and too Brown, and the texture was just not up to par. But it was the Pad Thai which was the worst part of the meal. There was more tofu in that bowl then shrimp, and the flavor, well let's just say there really wasn't any flavor. I even squeezed the lime on it, I tried to help it along with the leftover chili sauce from the crab Rangoon. I couldn't finish it. It was without color (including the shrimp! Can't beat the price for the quality and quantity of food. I got the orange chicken and vegetables for $6 (promotion pricing). Overall the food was on par to slightly better than other Chinese food restaurants in the area, but their different daily specials and promotions really put this over the top. We were pretty concerned based on some of the other reviews, but everyone in our group ended up being pleasantly surprised with friendly hosts, quick service and pretty tasty food at a reasonable price. The pad Thai was cooked well and had good flavor, but the large flappy pieces of tofu detracted from the dish. The spicy Korean chicken had good flavor and excellent heat but was a bit sweeter than expected. First time getting this food and we are disappointed. 1) Food did not taste as expected. I ordered sweet and sour tofu and vegetables and had to pour more vinegar over it to get the dominating ginger flavor out, and my husband's orange peel chicken was plain not spicy. Maybe we ordered the wrong items? My last two points refer to customer service: 1) we went in person to order our take out and while we were waiting more people came in, including a family of four who also placed a take out order. After 15 minutes of waiting, we saw the family get their food first and leave. It was another 5 minutes before we got our order. 2) they didn't give us any sauce packets, napkins, or fortune cookies. Maybe that's not a Pei Wei standard, but they should at least offer these items. read more

So I basically only come here whenever there is a BOGO offer available online, because only then is the price worth it to me. Part of the American PF Chang's brand, Pei Wei does Americanized Asian food - all sorts from across the continent, but mostly focuses on Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Korean styles. You won't find anything really authentic as a dish per se, but it at least appeals to the masses. The service here is friendly enough, though it definitely could be a little bit faster when doing a takeaway order. Quality is fine, nothing to complain nor write home about. To anyone who would compare this to PF Chang's is sadly mistaken. As you walk in the door you note the very trendy decor, that's where it ends... You order and pay when you walk in, They give you a number that you are supposed to clip on the chopstick holder on the table. 1) The place is dirty, a) Don't look at the floor (or maybe you should so you will go elsewhere). b) Take one of the napkins off the table, wet it at the self-service drink bar, wipe the table off. c) Then use another wet one and wipe the chair or booth off before you sit. 2) The food (I ordered sesame chicken) tastes like they soak it in vinegar before cooking, the rice is dried out and "Hey folks leave the black sesame seeds for the holistic medicine people." they are bitter and they really detract from the flavor of the white sesame seeds. 3) The cashiers drop your food off at your table, then they spend their time spiking the tables with bogus tips to make people think they should leave a tip. A dinner with my wife, Two Sodas, Two Chicken Dishes (that we could not finish) was $20.00. And no I did not leave a tip, I don't tip the cashier at McDonald's why would I do it here? (And the people at McDonald's deserve a tip they smile and do a better job of cleaning) No, this is not a pleasant dining experience. We will not be going back. read more

I'm a fan of Pei Wei! Lets just get something straight first: they are not "authentic" Asian, nor do I get the impression they are trying to be. The food at Pei Wei is "influenced" by Asian cuisine. Therefore you can choose things like Brown Rice, Fresh veggies and salads which have an Asian flair. Think California Fusion. With that out of the way, comparing Pei Wei to traditional Chinese/Asian doesn't do it justice. Pei Wei is fresh tasting and not loaded with oil. I always get the teriyaki tofu bowl with extra veggies. The tofu isn't blocks of tofu, but thinly sliced tofu that is smothered in teriyaki sauce. They load extra veggies on top: scallions, snap peas, onions, sliced carrots (I know that sounds weird, but it works), fresh spinach leaves and sesame seeds. They clearly label their food vegetarian, gluten free, spicy, etc. so it makes ordering very easy if you have dietary restrictions. Oh, and I am hooked on their orange ginger iced tea...I could drink gallons of that! Pei Wei isn't cheap, so its not a place I would recommend for lunch all that often (1 drink and an entree will set you back $10). But, its good food, fresh tasting and I'd recommend it without hesitation! read more

My family loves Pei Wei. We go there on a fairly regular basis. I love the Mongolian Chicken or the Curry Chicken. My two little boys love the spicy chicken - their version of General Tso's chicken. The boys also love the little chopstick things they give the kids that hold the chopsticks together like a pair of tweezers. One of the reasons I first fell in love with Pei Wei was when I was doing Weight Watchers and losing weight. The Mongolian Chicken with brown rice was only 6 points, and it was both delicious and filling. This is someplace I will continue to go back to eat on a regular basis. Pei Wei is basically the fast food version of P.F. Changs (maybe its just me, but I'm not exactly a huge fan of P.F. Changs). The atmosphere during the lunch rush is very very busy, at least at the Dulles location. The menu is fairly comprehensive and easy to chose from (although you can always tell when someone has never been there before....its easy people BEEF...CHICKEN....SHRIMP...or TOFU/VEG...pick one and move on.) It is a quick lunch for very reasonable prices, and there are always leftovers (yay! 2 Meals...1 Price). Some items have been great, I've enjoyed the Mongolian Beef, the Honey Seared Shrimp, the Crab Wontons, etc. The Ginger Broccoli (I did Vegetarian) was good, but incredibly salty. Today was by far the worst thing that I have had there....the Pad Thai. Yes I was risking it by ordering Pad Thai at basically a fast food Amerinese (Americanized Chinese) restaurant, but this was truly awful. The noodles were eh' ok, there was no pressed & marinated Tofu, the Thai sauce that is normally on the noodles was a strange spicy concoction and overall it was pretty dry. I would be very curious to examine the eating credentials of anyone who is rating this place anything more than a 3 star... Anywhere you have hispanics preparing Asian food is probably not that Asian, first of all. I've eaten here 3 times, and not once have I had anything even close to authentically Asian (thai, chinese, or japanese). I don't dock any stars for that, but you don't get any stars for it either. Face it, this is a chain restaurant of good quality but nothing about it stands out. It's good for a meal but if you gave this a 4 or 5 stars, then 2 things: 1) In the post-lunch euphoric state you've made a sugar+salt+fat induced mouse slippage to the right or 2) your culinary pedigree is much more limited than you've given yourself credit for. In the 1st case it's easy to go back and correct your mistake. In the second case I would say you've really been missing out on really amazing food in and around the capital region (in fact the broader US and the world) and you should stop contributing on Yelp and instead look to broaden your palate. You would be like the food review equivalent of the small town kid who travelled the world, partied with intellectuals and super models, only to return home to realize that your childhood sweetheart is unattractive, uneducated, and boorish. Unfortunately, the Egg Roll was way too greasy and gross so that got one bite and was set aside. My Thai Lettuce Wraps were pretty tasty and I would get those again. There were only two people working here when we visited. The cashier and the chef. Seems like the chef did all the work from cooking, to delivering the food. Our food was tasty and fresh. The lack of staff made me wonder if their business is suffering? I hope not. It's nice to have fresh, healthier Chinese options that is one step below eating at PF Chang's. I've seen a few of my favorite Pei Wei locations shut down over the years and that makes me sad. They were a big deal out in Cali for those of us who were regulars at PF Chang's. read more

All the haters are right and I've been disappointed the past several times I've been. Food is inconsistent and slow to come out, under stocked for things like napkins/soda, and tables are dirty.
