I was here for work and the student that I was visiting, and I asked what sort of food I should look for us to have for dinner and she asked for Mexican and I picked our mestizo for us to have dinner. We used open table for our reservation, I thought the food was great, we had queso fundito to start and then got different tacos, I ended up with the squid tacos, that were unique and enjoyable, I loved the flavor combination! My dinner companions enjoyed their tacos as well, I also thought my margarita was delicious! Loved the experience, hope I'm able to come back one day!

This is a spacious and new Mexican restaurant in Kendall square. It was pretty empty when we arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday, and the servers were all standing together with not much to do. The food was okay, but overpriced. At $15 for guacamole, we had hoped for some more unique housemade flavors, but it was basically the same as store-bought versions. Would skip. The jumbo chicken wings were crispy and very sweet, which I enjoyed, but they never brought out the dipping sauce that it was supposed to come with it. The shrimp tacos were the highlight for us flavor-wise, as it was a good mix of textures (soft, tender shrimp with crispy tortilla and a creamy drizzle of sauce), but the portion was quite small. Overall, the food was okay but pricey, the inside was clean and nicely decorated but empty, and the service was subpar (servers unfriendly and constantly trying to take our plates away without asking us if we were done). It was nice to try out a new place, but I probably wouldn't come back again.

Really great atmosphere and wonderful service. Staff went out of their way to make sure we had a good time and got our food quickly. The drinks were delicious and so was everything we ate!!

Mediocre Mexican food, great location, a bit overpriced. Outdoor seating is really nice, right by the river. Service is great and quick. Ordered the carnitas burrito and it was just meh. Came with yuca fries which were pretty good. Location and ambiance are pretty good, would come back to try other things on the menu.

Mestizo: A New Mexican Delight in Kendall Square Located in Kendall Square at 10 Broad Canal Way, Cambridge, MA, Mestizo is the latest addition to the ever-evolving culinary scene in the area. "Mestizo" translates to a person of mixed European and Indigenous ancestry in the former Spanish Empire, and this fusion is reflected in their vibrant and flavorful menu. Cocktails : First things first, their cocktails are fantastic! Priced at a reasonable $12, they are a steal compared to the $20 options you might find in Boston. Appetizers : Esquites: Grilled baby corn with an ancho marinade, crema fresca, and chipotle/Morita aioli. A fun twist on elote corn, beautifully presented and deliciously balanced with the cream. A solid 9/10. Empanadas: Filled with sweet plantain, guava, and Oaxaca cheese, served with charred pineapple sauce. These sweet empanadas were a delightful surprise. I'd order 10 more if I could! 9/10. Queso Fundido: Melted Oaxaca cheese with jalapeño, rajas poblanas, and guacamole. The cheese was divine but congealed quickly. Still tasty though! 7/10. Wings: Six dry-rubbed jumbo chicken wings with a garlic cilantro sauce. Juicy and perfectly cooked. 8/10. Tamal Ahogado: Chicken tamal with homemade mole negro, Oaxaca cheese, and crema fresca. The tamal was soft, and the sauce had decent flavor. 7/10. Main Dishes : Ceviche Marinero (Daily Catch): White fish with cilantro, onions, tomato, avocado, leche de tigre, passion fruit, and sweet potato mousse. Absolutely phenomenal! The passion fruit and avocado made this dish a standout. 10/10. Aguachile De Pez: Yellowtail Hamachi with a tequila blood orange marinade, cucumber, red onion, serrano peppers, and cara cara orange. Beautiful and delicious. 9/10. Enchilada Trio: Choose from chicken, cheese, or vegetarian filling, and sauces like mole negro, ranchera, or tomatillo. A visual and tasty delight. 8/10. Desserts : Tres Leches - Passion Fruit: You can't go wrong with tres leches, and the passion fruit twist makes it unique and delightful. 9/10. Sangria Brownie: Rich and flavorful with an orange and cherry sauce. It definitely needed ice cream but was worth every bite. 9/10. Mestizo is a place where you can easily share a variety of plates and leave very satisfied. I know I did! Overall Ratings: Food: 8/10 Affordability: 7/10 Food is expensive but the drink prices make up for it! Ambiance: 6/10 (Seating indoor/outdoor but not overly fancy) If you're in Kendall Square and craving some innovative Mexican cuisine, Mestizo is definitely worth a visit!

Rice was bland and tasted like microwave lunch. Pretty pricey and tasted just ok. We got drinks and the horchata one was SO strong but also mostly just tasted like fireball. The outdoor open concept seating was pretty nice, and service was fine.

This is a good, more upscale Mexican restaurant near MIT. We got guacamole (fresh, tasty), mojito, margarita and a spicy, cucumber gin drink. All were great. My partner got the mole enchiladas and I had the fish. Both were really good.

Honestly so surprised this place doesn't have more high rated reviews! I've been here for brunch in the summer and now recently for dinner, both times were great. The queso is sooo good, I just wish it came with tortilla chips instead of soft tortillas. Had to order some regular chips for it. I also got the enchiladas with the spicy sauce and it was perfectly spicy. The side of beans could've been seasoned a bit more but other than that everything had great flavor. I tried a lot of the other items my family got and the birria ramen was gooooood! The arroz con pollo also good. The tres leches passion fruit cake was sweet and flavorful, and the flan was nice and smooth. My espresso martini was perfectly creamy. They had some classic Latin music playing. Host was very nice, they all sang HBD to my sister and gave her a free shot lol. I think their location may not be the best since I feel like that that area thrives more in the summer. But I'd deff recommend :)

A majority of the drinks were more on the savory side which was very interesting like "may all your bacon burn" with bacon bites at the top of the drink. The drinks my friend had were all stunning with the use of egg yolk to elevate the drink. We ended the evening by walking over to Bow Market and trying Viet Citron which was so DANG GOOD my gosh. The to go orders were insane but looks like they are doing very well despite recently opening in. I got the grilled lemongrass pork ribs bowl and youtiao and the side sauce was so good. I have to say, it was one of the best restaurants I have visited in a long time. The server informed us how the menu worked because I have never had tinned food before. For the people reading this. It is a tinned canned of seafood that is presented on a mini charcuterie board. Nice concept! It came with half loaf of bread and butter, flavors salts, jams and peppers. We also ordered the Caesar salad and my wife said it was the best salad she has ever had. It looks small in the picture but it is not small. It came with a thinly sliced toasted bagel on top. I am in Boston and I wanted to try the clam chowder and it was far the best clam chowder I have ever had. I have had lots of clam chowders and there was no comparison. The place is a very unique restaurant with a charm that was very pleasant. Definitely going back next time in Boston.

Great seafood, lively atmosphere, and absolutely worth having on your Boston list.

We also spent an hour at the King Tut exhibit across the street! This restaurant/bar always seems packed. And, with reservations for 645pm (highly recommend) the bar was quite busy. The buzz from this high-end cocktail bar is exactly what you want on a Friday evening; From girlfriends sipping their wine to couples laughing and swirling their cocktails, Moon Bar is for the classy and sexy. Abby our server is excellent! A mixologist who knows all the cocktails and can recommend based on your preference. I tried one of their new cocktails with bourbon and did not care for it. Abby made me my mezcal drink that I have ordered before...its the 305 cowboy, an extremely popular drink. A must try for sure! Note: Some bartenders make you feel guilty for saying something about a drink you ordered and did not like. But, here at Moon Bar, Abby was so gracious to make me something that I will enjoy. Hats off to her:) Food: Since it was restaurant week we just shared everything. For starters we ordered the Tuna Tartare that was excellent. Then, we had Piri-Piri Chicken Thighs that were also good but quite spicy. For dessert, we shared the Caribbean Tiramisu, which was great. It was a tough choice between this and the Guava Cheesecake. We were so full that we ended up bringing home leftovers. Oh, I also forgot to mention we always order their Curry Fries - a must try when coming here Trust Me. In advance, I stopped into the hotel to confirm that a gluten-free guest could be accommodated and was assured this would be handled. In reality, the accommodation was inadequate and, at times, unacceptable. While the rest of us were served scones, my stepdaughter was given cut fruit in their place, and told that was all they had to accommodate. The dessert course consisted of what appeared to be basic gluten-free cookies, misrepresented as something more gourmet - egg nog cookies??? This lack of preparation was both disappointing, upsetting and avoidable. The broader experience was equally concerning. We were subjected to an unsolicited and uncomfortable "lesson" on tea service, which detracted from what should have been a relaxed and celebratory occasion. While trying to enjoy the time with the girls, being a lifelong tea drinker and someone who has been to many times at your establishment and its various incarnations, this is something I have never experienced. The food quality was poor (scones were clearly reheated and stuck to the cloth napkin they were wrapped in), and there were notable service lapses, including being served water in a visibly shattered glass. Additionally, when hot water was added to refresh the tea, my stepdaughter's pot curdled and had to be replaced. It was especially disappointing, as I mentioned that I had stopped in and spoken with the concierge, and was assured, as they had called the kitchen while I stood there that they readily accommodated gluten-free. There are numerous places in the city that could have done this, and if you had just told me that you could not do so, I would have booked us elsewhere. I chose not to raise the multiple issues in the moment so as not to disrupt what was meant to be a special day for the girls and me. However, the total cost exceeded $500, and the experience did not come close to justifying that price point! Do not recommend.

My guess is that this is more of an evening destination where people come for cocktails and the atmosphere rather than lunch. We ordered a Diet Coke, the Scampi appetizer, Carbonara, and the Rigatoni Alla Vodka. The scampi was easily the best part of the meal. It was flavorful, cooked well, and made for a nice appetizer to start things off. Unfortunately, the pastas didn't quite meet expectations, especially considering the price. The Rigatoni Alla Vodka was $28, but the pasta wasn't cooked al dente and felt overdone. The Carbonara, also $28, was disappointing as the eggs had curdled and the dish ended up being much oilier than I expected. At $18, the scampi was enjoyable, but overall I don't think the food justified the price point. One bright spot was the service. Our waitress was incredibly kind, checked in on us frequently, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very aesthetic design. I can definitely see why it's popular on social media. There is also outdoor seating, which I imagine would be a nice option on a warm summer evening. One thing I did notice, though, is how closely the tables are spaced together. Since the restaurant was mostly empty during our visit it wasn't an issue, but I could see it feeling crowded and fairly loud once the dining room fills up. I was honestly surprised by the meal because Gigi is part of the Mazi Restaurant Group, and I've really enjoyed some of their other concepts, especially Kava Neo-Taverna. Based on this experience, though, I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in Boston that offer better food and better value for the same price. Overall, I'd give Gigi 3/5 stars. The service and atmosphere were both strong, but the food didn't live up to the pricing. If I came back, it would probably be for drinks, appetizers, and the ambiance rather than a full Italian dinner.
