Such an underrated place to get delicious Peking duck! It's located inside of a plaza with lots of parking available. Inside is your typical Asian restaurant with tables and round tables available for various size parties. My friends and I came here on a Saturday for an early dinner and were seated right away. We ordered the Peking duck, crispy tofu and shrimp. The Peking duck was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and tender meat. I like that they give thin tortilla like wraps instead of the buns, because it's lighter in the stomach! The sauce was also delicious. They also mix in the remaining duck bones and make it into a soup for your party to enjoy. The shrimp wasn't anything too outstanding. The size and consistency was good and juicy, but flavor was a bit bland. The crispy tofu with the sauce was another highlight though, something I definitely have to order every time. I have fond memories of meeting family and friends here as this used to be our family's go-to restaurant growing up in Southwest Houston. (especially when visitors were from Beijing, this was the spot we'd bring them for authentic Peking food) The Peking Duck has always been the signature dish, and they've done a solid job with some other authentic offerings over the years, like one of my all-time favorites: 京酱肉丝 (shredded pork in bean paste sauce). If you're coming for the duck, I'd say call ahead as it takes time to prepare. It does come with all the fixings: scallions/leeks, Chinese-style pancakes, and the hearty duck soup (still one of my personal favorites). The space is large and includes a private room, which makes it great for big gatherings. Service can be hit or miss. Back in the late '90s and early 2000s, we used to know the waitstaff from visiting so often, but ownership and staff have changed alot since then. On this most recent visit, my mom and I took a trip down memory lane and ordered a few dishes. I was excited to try the lamb skewers (串儿) but unfortunately they were overcooked and a bit tough. When I asked the server, he offered to exchange them but didn't really care and gives off a cold reception, I didn't want to trouble the kitchen so I just didn't bother. Still, it was a letdown. My mom ordered an eggplant dish from the vegetarian menu (not the garlic sauce version), and she wasn't a fan because how it felt undercooked. Thankfully, the shredded pork with scallions lived up to memory for me, it was flavorful and just as I remembered. Hands down my go to place for Peking Duck! I've tried Peking Duck at a few places, and I always find myself coming back here whenever the cravings hit. When eating this dish, I prefer crepes over bao buns. That way I can get more in! The Peking Duck dish also comes with a soup/broth with some leftover duck drums, tofu and cabbage. Other menu items worth trying: Garlic Cucumbers - refreshing and light with a hint of chili oil Eggplant - for all the eggplant lovers who enjoy garlic sauce! I've been a dedicated Peking customer since 2007 always coming back for their unique Seschaun dishes. However, I came in today with my usual brood ordering the usual cold noodles, red pepper chicken, Mongolian beef, green beans, mo pau tofu, and Peking duck. First off, they have new owners. Our dishes came out way off and incorrect. We sent them back to let them know what we expected. They corrected, but the taste was way off. So disappointed. This will be the last time I'm there. Came here on Thanksgiving with family for their Peking duck plus other goodies. I had been here several times throughout the years, and I hope for even more. The dishes here are priced a little higher than in Chinatown. The menu is extensive and served family style. In order to secure a duck, it is best to call ahead of time to reserve one. It comes with duck soup and flat tortilla like wraps. Another item that we loved was the sweet and sour fish! Beautifully battered and fried to a golden crispness and then drenched in sauce, it was the definite star of the show and favorite. The beef and green onions looked good, but it lacked flavor and was mostly green onions. I enjoyed the big fat dumplings, though they were on the salty side. Went on New Year's Eve, got there on time. We were the second group of customers. The guy at the front asked us, how many people, and that's all he talked to us about during this celebration night. The whole time he was walking passed by our table and never spoke a single word. The waitress shows no emotion on her face. The waiter was the only friendly person. We sat there for almost 15 minutes with the employee walked past our table, the point is ONLY 2 tables in the restaurant at this time. A small portion of the food and served cold soup. Restaurant is just off 59 in a non-descript strip mall. It was not busy when we entered and was seated right away. The decor is a bit outdated and the first table we got felt a little sticky and moved to a different table. They are known for their Peking Duck. They were the first one we found that offered crepe rather than bao. Ordering Peking Duck also comes with Duck soup. Soup was tasty with sliced cabbages and some type of noodle (?). Duck itself was delicious. Son was crispy and met was flavorful. We also ordered a side of mustard green and tofu. Something different from our regular vegetable dish. I have been coming to this restaurant for years and I always get the set menu because it is so good and so worth it! Unfortunately, the menu only comes in Chinese and does not have an English version, but you could use a translator if you wanted to. There are so many dishes to choose from from the sat menu and I got the three people menu for $48. To be honest, it's enough food for 4 to 5 people. For a restaurant named after their flagship dish, I expected a better Peking Duck. If you want the Peking Duck, you have to place an order one day ahead of time. I tried calling three times at different intervals to place an order, but kept running into a full mailbox and getting disconnected. Not a problem, because I was passing by anyways so I went in and ordered in person. When I informed the manager that something was wrong with their phone, he didn't believe me and told me to try calling again. Odd, but whatever. If you pre-ordered the Peking Duck, the first dish that comes out is, well, the Peking Duck! It's made to be served at your reservation time, so all they have to do is bring it out. The fast arrival is nice, but the problem with this method is that everything comes out dry and cold. The duck didn't seem fresh and the wraps were all stuck together. The overall taste was still good with hoisin sauce, but I don't think it was worth the price - there was definitely room for improvement. The Peking Duck soup that comes with it was bland, but at least came out hot. Service wasn't bad but it wasn't friendly either. I don't recall seeing our waiter or the manager smile once. Our waiter had a careless expression the entire time and didn't care to check on us. When our Peking Duck soup arrived, the waiter didn't help pour it into individual bowls as typically would at other Asian family style restaurants. The elders at the table noticed, but were too polite to say anything. The restaurant isn't located in the trendiest area. The parking lot and entire complex is dirty, and gives a questionable vibe. I was hoping the interior would be different, but was sad to see the same. Tables had no cloth, which exposed their true age with signs of lamination peels and wear marks. The harsh white lighting didn't help either, as it reminded me of an old run down hospital. For large parties, an automatic gratuity of 15 percent is applied. This is normal and even specified on the menu. We were charged 18 percent. Our party of 10 came on a Friday evening and ordered a Peking duck (24 hours in advance, as needed) and family style. Dishes we ordered included: - Peking Duck: the actual Peking duck was good. It came with hoisin sauce and spring onions, along with 10 tortillas. The tortillas were good, but on the thicker side. If these were thinner, they'd be perfect. If you ask for more, they charge you $2 for 10 more. - Duck Soup: as part of the Peking duck. This was okay. Not too much flavor and had a few veggies in it. - Salt and Pepper Squid: this dish was my favorite. Flavorful and plenty of squid. - Cumin Lamb: this had really good flavor but was a bit dry. We hardly made a dent in this, sadly. - Stir Fried Green Beans: these were okay. Nothing special, but not bad. - Sichuan Chicken: not super spicy, not super flavorful. Not a big fan. - Chicken Lo Mein: this was average. - Salt and Pepper Pork: again, very average, pretty dry. When we received the bill, there was an 18% gratuity already tacked on, which we expected since we had a party larger than 6. But on the menu, I had noticed that a party larger than 6 had a 15% gratuity, not 18%, so watch out for that. Overall, would not recommend and would not come back. To start, they removed my favorite menu item, which was the weekend special of Dao Xiao Mian. This followed the change of management of this restaurant, which drastically altered the authentic flavors of the original dishes. Recently, I visited this restaurant and order the Dou Fu Nao, only to find out that it was burnt. This was not only disappointing, but I did not get to enjoy this dish. Furthermore, the Bai Cai Ya Gu Tang was not fresh from the stove and was a disappointing warm temperature, as well as lacking some white pepper. The portion sizes were noticeably smaller than when I first came across this place. As if this wasn't bad enough, the chopsticks were very thin and snapped in half. I would not recommend eating at this restaurant unless you can tolerate the bland flavoring and not fresh dishes. read more

Wow! My last review of Peking was 13 years ago. We've been back here a few times but not frequently. The place was empty when we arrived which made service really fast. To be honest, I was astounded by the price increase. In 2011 the Peking duck was $26 and now it's $45. The quality is still really high with crispy skin, thin wrappers and great soup. Yikes, talk about inflation. We also ordered the sweet and sour fish but they brought us the fish with vegetables which was fine. It was $23 though so I was also shocked by the price. The only affordable dish we ordered was the house special lo mein which came with shrimp chicken and beef ($10) Overall, food was still good, still greasy, but way pricier than I remember from even a year or two ago. I think there are better restaurants closer to Chinatown which could provide same quality food for the same price. We reserved two ducks; when we got there with a group of friends; they told us no ducks; we stayed till like 9:30pm; they asked us to leave bc they need to go home; then we came back three days later for another group of friends; we reserved two ducks; they told us they have the duck the whole time; then when we sat down; they told us only one duck left; we asked for wine glasses; the glass is so dirty and full of finger prints; then the soup came; but they seems do not know people need soup bowl for the soup. So I asked them to give us soup bowl; after 20 mins; we are still waiting; finally k has to remind them; then the bright over the soup bowl; but there are 10 of us; but the lady kept on placing like 15 bowls on the table and I had to remind her that there are only 10 people at the table. They offer the authentic Chinese tortillas instead of the steamed buns you find at other spots. If you plan to visit on weekends, I'd recommend giving them a call in advance to reserve the duck. While it may not be the best, the other dishes are solid 3.5/5. The pricing is very reasonable for the portions. The combo menu offers even better value (sadly only available in Mandarin). For authentic northern China cuisine, this place is the one to be at. Their peking duck is by far the most authentic one I've tried around in Houston where you get the thin crepe instead of the bao. I also love the mala chil flavoring thats engrained in this part of China's food scene. Their sizzling pepper beef came out in such a large and delicious dish that it was so easy to just gorge on that. We also got a large steamed fish, fish maw soup, a few other cold dishes and and some fried ship to top us off. All of these dishes were executed very well and very generous on portions. One gripe that seems to be a constant issue is that the restaraunt skimps out on turning on AC or just have good general airflow. It felt stuffy the entire time we were at the restaurant. I came here to try Peking Chicken for my first time. It's so good! I haven't even tried Peking Chicken out anywhere else because it's so good here! The price was $40, and it feeds two people. This price is fair because it's duck! .ost places are charging around $30-40 for duck, and it's just for a leg! Here, the dinner comes with a soup, and they throw duck legs in it! However, one time, they didn't bring the soup out. I don't know if they ran out or if they forgot about it. It was disappointing, and it almost got this place a 4 star instead of 5. This is my go-to spot for Peking duck in Houston. I love the way they cut the duck for you, making it easy to make wraps out of it. I especially love the crepes, or "Chinese tortillas" as they call them on the menu. The Peking duck is so addicting because of the crispy skin and juicy meat. I could probably eat 10+ wraps. I like how they use the tortilla to wrap the Peking duck instead of the baos because the bao usually makes me full fast with all that dough.
