We wanted chinese buffet, when we were in the Williamsburg area recently,so went here. This is actually our 2nd time at the restaurant. I thought our 1st time wasn't bad. Not the best but at least ok. Packed with people at lunch. The sushi area was fun. Small plates of roll pieces go around on a covered conveyor. Labeled so easy to tell. Too much rice and sauce on them though. Also, saw a lot of rolls pre-made behind so not as freshly made. Chinese food options are not too enticing. I still took a small bite of each. Some were ok, some overcooked. Thai section was closed. There's a make-to-order soup area but didn't appeal to me. Maybe the way the items are presented. The mongolian grill has to be scraped after each customer. I like the option of freshly cooked food, like in hibachi places, but here, the taste from previous customer's ingredients get cooked into next customer's and just not clean-tasting. Also, the ingredients were either down to very little or empty and still wasn't refilled in a timely manner. Even the desserts didn't appeal to me. Decor though is the best part in this place. This spot offers delivery through Door Dash. I used Door dash for the first time today and ordered from Peking, though I haven't been to Peking in years (more than 15). I ordered 4 dishes, including the sweet and sour chicken (shown below). The best thing about the order is that it arrived in less than 30 minutes (closer to 20 minutes), which is impressive. The sweet and sour chicken arrived with the sauce in a separate container from the chicken, which I wasn't expecting. There was a lot of sauce included with the order, which is a good thing, but it would've tasted better if the chicken had been absorbing the sauce as opposed to the sauce being poured onto it just before eating. I also ordered General Tsos Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli, and Veggie Egg Foo Young. I took pictures of each. Nothing was the most delicious that I've ever had but it was edible and relatively inexpensive. Omg this restaurant is freaking gross.... I went in here for a $9.99 buffet and sat down to a table with crumbs on it. Ordered water.. walked to the buffet and it looked soooo gross and the options were extremely minimal... guess that's why it was 9.99! The restaurant is in a parking lot that has a lot of over grown grass it looks almost abandoned. Restaurant is dirty, food looks nasty. My in-laws love this place and highly recommended it one night when we were in town. On the initial face of it, the buffet appears nice. There are tons of options - including traditional buffet fair, Mongolian grill, sushi (didn't try) and some American items (chicken nuggets, etc., didn't try). I had a bowl of veggies and steak cooked at the Mongolian grill station, which was the highlight of my meal. Then I got a plate full of other items - sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, crab ragoons, rice, steamed broccoli. Almost everything from the buffet section seemed a bit off to me - too hard or too soft or really salty. I ended up pushing food around my plate and then ultimately just getting some salad and cut fruit from that station. My in-laws still love it, but it gave my husband and I both upset stomachs even though we ate a reasonable amount of food. I'm not planning to return. read more

$21 with tip? Below average is the kindest thing I can say. Poor selection. Not great tasting. I've never seen General Tao's chicken just laying in sauce in a steamer like a soup. The only lo mein was vegetable. The ONLY beef dish was beef/onions. Didn't see any pork anywhere. The mixed vegetables are 90% over-steamed broccoli. I did manage to dig out ONE mushroom (the only one I saw on the entire buffet), and one baby corn. Anyone saying this place is good has never been to even an average Chinese buffet. This was probably one of the worst Chinese/Japanese whatever, buffets I have ever been to. The food was either dried out or way too over cooked. Very little flavor. The Mongolian barbecue was lacking and the cook was slow. The only thing that wasn't terrible was the sushi - but even that wasn't what I would call great. For the quality of the food, I felt they were overpriced. I am visiting from Philadelphia, PA, and there are plenty of places up that way with MUCH better food and a lower price: I won't return here. I just want to say, this review is being written as my family and I SPEED away from this place. We were there for roughly 45 minutes, enough for my husband and I to eat a little, and the whole time we got passed by two different waitresses who were serving (and then cleaning) two other tables. Neither of the waitresses introduced themselves, or said hi (let alone make eye contact with us), nor did they take any drink requests. It was our first time here, so we made sure it wasn't something that was self-served before complaining to the guy at the front desk. My husband and I had enough of being ignored by everyone working in the restaurant, so he went up to the front and paid there. As he was walking up, the lady that looks like she was supposed to be our server was seating an old couple, and having a full blown conversation with them, while my toddler fussed behind her and I had to resort to drinking my toddler's water to get the taste of the food out of my mouth. We did eat their food, which was about standard quality for any asian buffet (nothing to write home about), so yes we paid, and from the looks of our receipt, we paid full price and absolutely no tip. Funny, as there was a sign next to the guy that tells customers to pay their servers. I guess this should have been free since we never got a server? How is this place possibly voted one of "Williamsburg's Best"??? Safe to say we are never coming back. read more

This is one of our parents favorite places to eat when we come to visit them. Our stop this time was not a disappointment, the service was friendly and the food was not a disappointment. It's hands down the best Asian Buffet I've attended. You'll be hard pressed to find a better one. A smörgåsbord of Japanese (including Sushi), Chinese, and Mongolian. It's not to say that it's the BEST Chinese food in the Williamsburg area (Peter Changs and Ichiban are solid competitors) - but it's tasty and they hands down have the best General Tso's Chicken of any Chinese joint I've EVER been to. No breading, and made from large chunks of white meat. YUM! Anyway, they have a massive selection, and the food is solid. You'll enjoy coming here whether you're a local or a tourist. The wait staff is generally friendly and fast (although really they're only picking up your dirty plates and filling your drink glass. This is a hidden gem of a restaurant. Sure it is in the corner of a strip mall, but do not let that fool you. This is the BEST Chinese buffet I have ever experienced. The food is to-die-for! It's that good! Everything was definitely fresh and the selections were more than you can imagine. They had Thai, Chinese, Mongolian, and Sushi. I noticed the chicken dishes actually had Chunks of chicken rather than the typical slices of chicken and it was as fresh and tender as could be. We visited for dinner and had no idea what the buffet cost. Based on the incredible selection and outstanding tastes we assumed the buffet would probably cost between $15 and $20 per person. I probably wouldn't have come back on my own since I'm not a buffet person and the takeout was a little pricey for my fancy, but my division at work was having our annual luncheon here. I'm pretty happy I had the opportunity to experience the buffet after all. I was overwhelmed with the number of items they offer. I didn't know where to start or end. I ended up getting two huge plates of food that were pretty solid all-around. They have plenty of healthy steamed veggie items to offer in addition to the traditional unhealthy Americanized Chinese fair and random American items like pizza and fried chicken. They also have a salad bar and tons of different soups (including pho) to choose from. Additionally, they have a dozen or more desserts to choose from, fruit (most that looked canned unfortunately), and soft serve ice cream. I don't eat sushi, but my coworkers who do seemed to think it was pretty decent for a buffet. This best part- the price! Only $8 for lunch! I'll add that service exceeded expectations and they did not add auto-gratuity for our party of 10. read more

I am starting to believe people in VA have absolutely no taste buds. Seriously this place must stay in business because of that. I was super excited to see a thai portion of a buffet. I haven't really had amazing Pad Thai in my two years here. Was this the absolute worst Pad Thai ever? No. I've paid more for Pad Thai that tasted equally or worse than here. I don't know what the Mongolian BBQ was. I put steak on my spaghetti noodles (is that normal??). The steak was sliced so thin, and was such a bad cut... It tasted like beef jerky and was entirely inedible. The water ginger sauce, the sugar water, and various other infused waters like garlic really threw me. The noodles retained no flavor. It literally tasted like eating plain whole wheat spaghetti without any sauce. I was expecting Mongolian BBQ to be more like the chain called stir crazy. A lot of the foods I wanted to try were out and not restocked. The cilantro in the Mongolian BBQ portion was wilting. It didn't appear that any of the ingredients were super fresh. If you have below average expectations come here. It's extremely cheap. The service and decor is really nice. That's about it. read more

A favorite place in Williamsburg, Peking Restaurant -- known in the William & Mary circles as "Mongolian" -- is some seriously good buffet action going on right off of Bypass and Longhill a little north of the campus. Step in, be seated, then fly out of your seat and grab a plate from the myriad selections of (1) Chinese food, (2) sushi, (3) Mongolian barbecue, (4) Thai, and more that can be nabbed here for the low, low price of about $13.00 for dinner. The food here is reasonable; although it's nothing you'd get at an upscale American Chinese restaurant and not as authentic as real Chinese food, let's be honest -- that's exactly what you want when you hit a Chinese buffet. The millions of choices, the fact that they keep the food hot and fresh, and so on -- that's why you come to Mongolian. The sushi train is the most recent addition here, but I wasn't all too impressed. I'm not a sushi fan, but can still tell the good stuff from the okay stuff. This was okay stuff, maybe. The atmosphere here is wonderful. The tables are comfortable, there's lots of room, and it's the kind of place where you can sit down and take your time eating lunch or dinner. The decorations are fun and sometimes you can even take in a quirky video displayed on one of the television screens. The fortune cookies here are also good. My most recent one read, "Courage is the hallmark of the warrior." Now how bad-ass is that? Try it! For a less expensive option with maybe slightly less atmosphere, though, you might want to consider Wasabi, practically right down the street. Look it up. read more

Lets start with the food: a few good things like Tso chicken, garlic spinach, baby clams that didnt have shells and green beans. The sushi train is a joke. California rolls are my favorite. Seeing that it had sauce on it i got excited knowing it was spicy. The moment I tried it I spit it out. First off, it didn't have crab. It had some type of meat maybe beef? And avocado? What was worse is my husband is allergic to cucumbers... So we asked if they can make one without it. A simple request anywhere else we have no problem. Here, they wanted 7 dollars for it. Less food for more money? Strange The service was ok. Our waitress was attentive but very how do I say this, pushy. I'm eating and she tries clearing my plate and the "disposable" plate I use to put shells on, constantly. It was annoying. I don't know about u but I hate when people reach over my plate and that kept happening. Oh um they had no vanilla ice cream. Which is ok with me but leaves the kids disappointed. And their "fruit bar" consisted of grapes, pineapple, and something not looking like oranges. 30 minutes until close and they are closing sections and putting food away and cleaning our table while we are eating and sweeping by our feet. Very large buffet with plenty of seating. My friends and I gorged ourselves here after a trip to the outlet mall. From the standard Chinese fare to Thai to the mongolian grill to the sushi on the conveyor belt, this place offers a lot of food for a fair price. If you're hungry or with a large group who can't decide exactly what you want, it would be a fair bet that everyone could find something here to eat. Everything I ate here was good for buffet standards. No real shining stars, but everything was done decently and there was enough variety to get different things every trip back to the buffet. The mongolian grill is 5 stars, but the rest of the buffet is about 2 or 3 stars, which is disappointing especially if you're a sushi fan (it tastes like it been sitting out for a few hours). However, I have gotten take out from Peking many times before, and the quality and taste is exponentially better than the buffet, as one would expect, but still with good prices. I thought maybe the Generals Cho's would be ok but it was like burnt pork yes pork but I think it was chicken. Last summer, we did a vacation in Williamsburg rather than the usual beach+sunburn combo. Since the colonial thing doesn't take more then an afternoon, it worked out that the highlights of the trip revolved around food and ohgoodlord is this place awesome! Located in a strip mall, the only thing that stands out about the place is the sheer number of cars in the parking lot- I never would have known about it had the bf not gone to school at W&M. You can order as normal from your table as usual, but I've been told that hardly anyone ever does- when you see the buffet it's really clear as to why. The buffet is plentiful and runs pretty much the length of the restaurant, with sushi in addition to more traditional buffet fare....but don't limit yourself! You owe it to your tummy to do the make-your-own mongolian grill thang. Put fresh ingredients of your choice in a wooden bowl, adding sauce as you like and then hand it over to the nice man with the grill sticks. A couple of minutes later, you're in heaven. Whoa Nelly!!! Ok, this has got to be one of the best Chinese buffets I have ever eaten at. And I was surprised to find it in a strip mall in Williamsburg. They have Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, Mongolian (yeah i know they are Chinese now too), everything you would think you could want. Three plates later I was done. Could not try everything I wanted to. The Mongolian BBQ is a meal in itself, and is a blast to see the guy on the giant pan. Their sushi and their rolls? Awesome for a buffet! Yeah, you have to loiter at the sushi bar if you want the good stuff, but the rolls do in a pinch. And you will find better quality at a real sushi shop, but not much better, and not nearly at this price! The place was huge but a little dark. Made me think what were they hiding... Was there off-season, so I can only imagine what a Friday night in July is like. The servers are really nice. And they have a decent assortment of Asian beers. Sapporo please! Family friendly too! For the Mongolian Grill, you pick meats/seafood and vegetables for the one or two guys walking around the flat surface grill to prepare. Takes about 30 seconds. Never seen this anywhere else. Tried the Neo-Buddah from the bar and it was good, a bit sweet, but not too much. Has rum, pineapple and couple of other ingridients. Costs $8. read more

I'm all about the greasy all you can eat buffets but at a certain point, if they are greasy enough, you sort of stop and look around and think, "Am I SERIOUSLY going to put this into my body? Even if there are no limits and its only 10.99?" This place is definitely greasy enough. I wish I had skipped it and gone elsewhere, because you're basically paying 10.99 for a ridiculous kind of stomachache that will last through the next day. I'm not really feeling bad about writing a bad review because this place was PACKED so I guess there are plenty of people more than happy to endure the stomach pains. Been coming here for over a decade now. The quality of the food is better than most takeout places. I love the newer additions of Thai food and the sushi-go-round. Staff is always friendly. I do miss the days of the guy singing "Happy Birthday" for someone celebrating. It was always fun to listen to. The Mongolian BBQ is nice. I like how you kind of make your own sauce from the individual ingredients. I went recently with a large group of very picky eaters and there was something for everyone. Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian BBQ, Pho, Sushi, American, Thai. I tried BLT Sushi last time and I was surprised at how good it was. It was a roll with bacon, lettuce and tomato inside with more bacon and a spicy sauce on top. Nontraditional but sooooo delicious! We went in at 5pm and were shocked to find nearly all the food appeared to have been sitting since lunchtime. Sushi was dried rice covered with leathery fish.. many entrees seemed to have been picked at for a while. Not the worst ive had, but i lost my appetite after one plate and 2 pieces of sushi. We used to love eating here on every visit to williamsburg for the past 16 years. Won't be going back now that the quality and pride of yesteryear seem to have left this place. I'd scrap that sushi train and only do made-to-order items. That thing is seriously potential for making somebody very sick Rice and fish should never sit out tlike that for more than 15 minutes, MAX. As AYCE Chinese buffets go, this one has a lot going for it. They have Chinese food, Thai food (including make-your-own soup), Japanese teppanyaki (on the buffet, not on your table), a Mongolian grill, and a surprisingly top-notch sushi bar. Also desserts and scoopable Hershey's ice cream. The worst of the lot (which still wasn't bad) was the teppanyaki fare. The teriyaki they use is SUPER salty. Another nice thing about this place is that when they say "spicy", they mean it. Especially on the sushi rolls. Did I mention it's fairly cheap? I LOVED this place. I'm usually not a big fan of AYCE Chinese buffets but we returned to this place TWICE on our vacation! Like others have stated, they have the Mongolian grill where you choose your own meats and veggies and they cook it in front of you with two large wooden dowels. Their Chinese buffet is extensive and the sushi isn't the greatest but they do have a large selection. The Thai bar has make your own soup which wasn't great for a hot day. Their bubble tea wasn't really "tea" but moreso bubble slushie. It was flavored slushie and frozen tapioca. It's a nice novelty restaurant that people should visit at least once but if you live in the area, probably not the place for you. read more
