Pad Thai
Deb B.

The place didn't look like much when we entered, but looks are deceiving. The food is the star. I started with a small bowl of tom yum soup. It had the best broth and was full of shrimp and veggies. This could have sufficed as my dinner. I also ordered Pad Thai, not realizing a small bowl of souls was a meal. The Pad Thai was huge and full of more shrimp and veggies all over noodles and a flavorful sauce. Not wanting to waste food, I ate all the shrimp and veggies and some of the noodles. Washed it down with a Sapporo (they have beer and wine). Great place and inexpensive.

Second time back and micro as good as the first. Nice atmosphere, food is delicious and friendliness is off the charts. Good service. Super happy with this place.

Fried Dumplings-really good flavor

Enjoyed another meal here this past weekend. Service was great and appetizers and lunch arrived soon after ordering. The dumplings are seriously on-point, and I still wish the fresh spring rolls had more noodles and other veggies than lettuce. Pad se we was very yummy and my dining companions enjoyed their drunken noodles! It was a little cold inside but it's still a cute little restaurant!

Visited for lunch with a group of friends and we were pleased with our experience! The atmosphere: Such a cute spot, beautifully decorated and welcoming. It works well for both small and larger groups. The menus were especially charming, wrapped in colorful fabric, which felt like a thoughtful touch. The food: I started with the Thai tea, which was definitely on the sweeter side. The menu is extensive with plenty of options, including some Northern Thai dishes. I ordered the Duck Basil. Great flavor overall, though mine was a little dry. Portions are generous and perfect for sharing, and it came with steamed vegetables plus an adorable heart-shaped side of rice. The service: Excellent service from start to finish. Our server was attentive, friendly, and brought such warm energy to the table.

I love Lanna Thai! The wait staff is always so kind and accommodating while the food is fantastic. Every time I introduce people to the restaurant, they always are a fan. The interior is always clean as well. I miss this place since I'm no longer in Williamsburg, but this is where I'll always stop by when I visit.

My son and I were craving Thai and decided to give Lanna a try. From the time we walked in til the time we left we had a great experience. We were seated right away. Water was brought right away while we browsed the menu. The server came and got our drink order. We got the Thai Ice Tea with Boba. We had a late lunch so ordered light. We had steamed dumpling potstickers and #66 Pad Woon Sen. the food came out fast. Presentation looked like a picture. Veggies were fresh and perfectly steamed/cooked. The sauce on Woon sen was delicious and the dumplings were fantastic. This is truly a gem of a Thai restaurant. Highly recommend and will visit again when in the mood for Thai food, which is often!

I never like to give a non-chain restaurant a low star rating, I love smaller businesses and always look for the good. I had a mixed crowd, and I asked for everyone's input. Seating - not busy (early dinner) with tables & booths. Seated fairly quick. Dining area with a bar area, a little messy with walls/floorboards kind of grungy. Our first waitress (seemed new) seemed to be figuring out what do. The second waitress was not very personable. Overall, the service was not great. Super hot day, and during the whole meal from start to finish, we were offered one refill of water. They seemed overwhelmed, maybe phone orders? as the dining area was not crowded. Two of our plates had to be exchanged as they were dirty. It happens, so it's not a big deal. We ordered two appetizers - pretty basic flavor, not great, but not terrible. We ordered several entrées, they were the best part of our visit. The only issue was that we were given one wrong entrée, when we brought it to our Waitress attention, it became awkward. We had been waiting awhile, so instead of saying no problem, it became kind of a silence game. My wife was frustrated and said, "Just leave it and cancel the other one. The dish was fried chicken stripes, which were dry, which only added to the frustration. Heart-shaped rice was nice, and the main dishes were pretty decent with nice presentations. Prices were decent We may have visited at a bad time or an off time as other reviews were good, which is why my wife chose this spot. Needless to say, most of the party was not impressed. Wish I could say different.

Flavor of food is really good. Portions are a bit small, especially for the price. Thai Basil w/shrimp, $13.95 not bad, until you get your portion. I've had larger portions else where for the same price. Picture attached, you can be the judge. But other then that, really good food. Service is Avg, Ambiance is Avg.

Panang Curry was super runny, Pad Thai lacked flavor and was overcooked/slimy. Thai tea, chicken satay, and spring rolls were good.

Before we moved to Williamsburg, we visited the area for vacations, and Thai Tara is alway the first place we go for dinner and the final meal before leaving. Whether you crave the freshest Sushi/Sashimi or you prefer authentic Thai street food, you will find it here. We have traveled to Bangkok many times, and from first hand experience can say without exaggerating that the Chicken Sate or Fresh Rolls are as authentic as you might find at the street markets in BKK. The Tom Kha and Tom Yum soups are a treat. The extensive selection of warm Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Penang Curry are outstanding. We often include a hand roll or a selection of Sashimi from the Sushi bar in our orders. Never has the sushi bar prepared anything less than perfect. And if you want a real treat, finish your meal with a Mango Sticky Rice. Although small in size, it's surely is a dessert of the gods. An extensive bar is also on hand at Thai Tara for your favorite hand mixed cocktail, umbrella drink or beer, including Thailand's own Singha, a refreshing lager. Plan to arrive early because this cozy (but not small) place gets very busy, especially on weekends. Parking can be tight. But even in the busiest evenings, service is always prompt, attentive, and with a Thai smile.

The place is clean, and there's plenty of parking. The beef curry is rich with spicy flavors that are balanced and not overwhelming. The orange chicken features large, juicy pieces with a wonderfully citrusy taste. The pad thai was the highlight of the evening, offering a delicious and complex flavor profile with a clean finish. One suggestion: I should have asked for a higher spice level, at least level 2. The service was very friendly and welcoming. All the noodle and rice entrees come out a very big size, honestly enough to share an entree between two people because the 4 of us had leftovers. I had the red curry special pad thai which I recommend trying as opposed to the regular pad thai. One-two of our dishes was actually messed up on protein- chicken instead of beef and the combination fried rice had only 1 shrimp. They give a lot of meat (chicken) for less premium meat options but for seafood options like shrimp you don't get that many. Other than that I would recommend this spot for thai cuisine.
