we are in town on vacation, and we were out playing mini golf and riding go karts until about 9 PM. There is very little open past 9 PM and grateful this place was open until 10. we ordered crab Rangoon, fried dumplings, Singapore, noodles, and chicken lo mein. It fed two adults, a teen and a tween for about 40 bucks. Can't beat that. Every bite was eaten, it was very tasty. If you're here on vacation, you probably have a better Chinese spot from wherever you're from, but for Williamsburg, it seems this is the best and it's deserving of that title. I look forward to returning to try additional dishes. Don't confuse it with a different Top's China on a different road that has poor reviews! This one is across from Harris Teeter. Seemed like a clean restaurant with friendly people and prompt service. I enjoyed the shrimp in lobster sauce, but the 'fried rice' wasn't that great at all. It didn't resemble any fried rice I've ever had and didn't taste good nor was cooked right. And no egg in it! Had a shrimp egg roll - was just okay - not great. Stopped here for lunch after shopping at the outlet mall down the road. Lovely little place and the staff was so friendly and welcoming. We had the lunch special (which included soup or egg roll) with fried pork rice or white rice. I had the broccoli chicken that was cooked in a brown sauce and my partner had the sesame chicken. Predominately takeout, there are several tables available for dining in (food still served in to-go containers without lids, plastic utensils or chopsticks, packets of sauces). Staff was friendly and helpful, menu was extensive - but with multiple entries making it seem larger - separate entries for beef, chicken, shrimp, etc. Today we had beef chow fun - excellent, with noodles not overcooked and beef nicely seared and tender, and hot and spicy jumbo shrimp - more sweet and sour shrimp, no spice to be found and too sweet. It was insanity, but the employees were on fire. To top (pun intended) it off, the food was excellent. I figured it was a fluke - I mean, simply because it was so busy we got super fresh food. BUT we tried it again last week. And again, the food was delicious. Fried items weren't greasy. Fried rice was fresh - not the usual pre-cooked, sitting in a steam tray stuff. This place used to be good. But don't let the pictures fool you. The food does not look like this. I ordered food last night and it was the most disgusting thing I have eaten. The chicken on the general tos was dry over cooked like it was from the day before and recooked. The rice!!!! Not sure what happed but I used to go here because they were the only ones who didn't change their rice after the pandemic. But the fried rice was white rice with onions in it. Wow is all I can say. Hubs and I decided that we would try chow fun at this place since we haven't been able to find any elsewhere nearby. The beef chow fun off the main menu was quite tasty with plenty of tender meat along with baby corns and snow peas as Asian veggies and your token celery, carrots, and sliced onions. Nice sauce. It's all about keeping the integrity of the wide noodles, the flavor of the sauce, and the tenderness of the meat. As long as all those factors are fulfilled then I'm happy. The hot and spicy jumbo shrimp was sooo disappointing though. I am very sensitive to hot sauce so I tasted the shrimp and the green and red peppers but they all tasted sweet as if a catsup sauce had been used. My hubs, on the other hand, just loves the heat and will nosh on fresh whole jalapeños. He was more than disappointed, to say the least, but fortunately we did get hot sauces from the restaurant so we used those. Glad that chow fun is close by but next time we will avoid their "hot" section. While we were there a health inspector came and we were seated where we couldn't help but hear that the food is made fresh for each order except for the soups. No msg is used. They come with pork fried rice and an egg roll. My hubby loves their General Tso, never gets anything else. I tried their cashew chicken today and it was amazing.
