In doing my research of apartments in the area, this apartment managed by Bozzuto stood out in terms of the property, the location, and also the quality of the management company. Reviews on Apartments.com and Yelp have been overwhelmingly positive (with only real complaint being rowdy undergraduates who are no longer allowed to lease in these apartments), and I can confirm that my own experience is accurately reflected by these reviews. I've worked with Christian who was friendly yet professional in phone calls and email communications, and he's been very responsive and willing to help. I am disappointed that I will not be able to stay here, but this will be the first place that I will look the next time I need to find an apartment in the Cambridge area.

Just in the last ~6 months, I have had to deal with non-residents passed out in our hallway at night, constant smell of weed smoke (including kids smoking weed in the lobby of the building), broken glass all over floors that was not addressed for 8+ hours. The front desk staff is great, but the general manager (Anthony B.) & his team blames the staff for the issues. It's the management's fault for renting to college kids (even though they claim not to, which is a lie). I lived here for 2+ years and the quality of life experience has plummeted. Save yourself the money and live in one of the many other luxury buildings in Boston. I ended up moving out after a slew of terrible experiences, and then was told by Anthony that he was "sorry that happened".

First of all, the Yelp ratings for this building have always been terrible and only recently improved when the management incentivized residents with a restaurant gift card to post reviews. So there's that. As others have noted, there are continued issues with the elevators and construction/noise from the Four Seasons across the street. In late 2019, when I was six months pregnant, I had to plead with the management to create a safe environment to walk our dog. At least twice, we were nearly hit by cars peeling around corners because the construction from the Four Seasons eliminated sidewalks and didn't create temporary walkways for pedestrians at that time. Unfortunately, 30 Dalton was unable to rectify this. This past fall, as Covid cases were rising, I had to ask management repeatedly to stop hosting gatherings in unavoidable common spaces. They had happy hours, manicure, and massage events (in the middle of a pandemic!) in the lobby of the building. Finally, they realized how unsafe this was and stopped. But only after multiple requests. The finishes in the apartments are very low quality. If we tried to vacuum while more than two lights were on, or use the Instapot and blender at the same time, we would blow the circuit. Several times we had to complain about trash smells from the garbage room wafting through the vents and into our apartment. Towards the end of our stay, in November 2020, we dealt with loud parties from other units. This never happened pre-pandemic and I can only assume it's because they lowered their standards for new tenants in an effort to lease units. We ended up moving to a new apartment managed by Related and it's night and day. The concierge is extremely professional and prompt in response. Further, we received three months free rent so are now living in an apartment that is 2x the size for approximately the same price we paid at 30 Dalton--and, instead of living across the street from constant construction, we are two blocks from Boston Common. To be clear, there are some very good people working the front desk at 30 Dalton (Zack, Marvin, and Carlos among them), but there are also some real bozos who never look up, ignore you when you walk in, and can't be bothered to push a button that opens the door when your hands are full with groceries you're towing a stroller. It's the little things that really add up to create an experience and, unfortunately, all those little things made ours a less than positive one here.

I've loved living here…read more My partner and I looked at most of the buildings in Kendall. We looked at the waterfront, the Avalon, twenty20, Vivo, and several others. Ultimately our high ceilings and natural light sealed the deal. After moving in, the leasing office has treated us like family. When we need packages sent off but don't feel comfortable leaving them outside of the package room, they're there to help. When we have questions about our lease, we just walk into their office. Last week, I swung by to talk to Tim and Svetlana about options for renewing or lease. They both sat down with me for twenty minutes to discuss our options. The community here is great, and the leasing office makes us feel like a family. Thank you guys!

I'm now dealing with them ripping the walls apart in my bedroom to fix a leak with my air conditioner. Spend more money to be in an apartment where people actually care about the state of your living arrangements. I hate living here! I personally had a pretty terrible experience with this property in three primary ways:…read more 1) Frustrating communication: After paying the guarantee, there were 26 days of ignored follow-ups, inaccurate/delayed responses due to a clear lack of reading of emails, technical issues with the application website, and unanswered phone calls before I decided to not sign the lease (which was still not provided). This process destroyed my faith in the building and made me concerned of how I would be treated as a tenant. 2) Unexpected rent change: Before they sent me the lease to sign (which they never sent), they tried to increase my rent by $250 a month from the initial amount I had agreed to in the guarantee. I logged into the application portal one day and it was $250 higher a month. When I emailed to confirm that it would remain at the original, they confirmed it would be at the lower rate; however, when asking for security deposit and first/last checks, they suddenly increased monthly rent by $250. 3) Location hazards: I was not aware of the significant homeless population which congregates/stays literally outside the entrance of the building until friends warned me. I came by several days in a row and noticed a group of 10-20 homeless which were hanging right outside the entrance, which you have to walk through to get to the apartment building. I later read the following reddit post which increased my worries about the location:https://www.reddit.com/r/boston/comments/ue5mo8/homeless_in_central_getting_more_dangerous/ Hope this is helpful to others considering or that people have had better experiences than I have had. Front Desk: John, Suzie, Samir (and new guy David) are all extremely extremely nice. They are incredibly helpful and cordial and we say hi and chit chat just about every day. Tenants: Everyone we've met is extremely friendly. They are kind of protective of the tenants that come in without a key as well. When i first moved in and left my fob in my other purse, another tenant let me in the door only after he asked me if i lived there. Amenities: There is a washer and dry that the building shares which is nice because you don't have to brave the cold when you want to get your laundry done in the winter. There is a 24 hour CVS (pharmacy is open late till late), atm machines, gap!, bsc, liquor store etc right next to the buiding. There is also a small out door balcony on the 2nd floor you can hang out at. It's much cheaper to ask friends to come over and hang out there and byob instead of going to a bar nearby and pay $10 a drink! Great doctors are right at MGH T stop. Lots of shopping right at Park- right the red. Being on the redline: It really does take 30 seconds to the T. I love being able to tell Taxi drivers to take me to the central square Tstop instead of having to give them an address. Groceries: You can park your car in the garage for about 5 minutes to drop off groceries. They have a few dollies you can borrow to haul all your stuff upstairs. There is also a place to park (an extra right small right lane) for about a minute if you have a friend picking you up. Random: There are a few parade that comes through central square. Some concierge members will take groceries to your door or really do anything else that's kind and caring. * The community spaces are beautiful. Common areas are finally opening up, and I can't rant enough about the sky deck and courtyard. I'm so excited for the fitness center to reopen too! So happy to be a resident here! I can also easily walk to Trader Joe's or Stop and Shop, run along the water, or shop at any of the outlet stores in 10 minutes or less.
