We just love the Pelican's Nest. The bartenders are outstanding and very attentive. The food seems to get better and better every year. They even cook or fry my food separately from seafood because I have a shellfish allergy. We only wish the prices were more reasonable and that it was open more often in the winter months. During the off season, it's closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and on Thursdays and Fridays it's only open in the evening for their "Bistro on the Water" for members. Although we are members, we are disappointed that there's four consecutive days that it's not open for lunch or simply to sit at the bar and have some drinks. After a round of golf on Fridays, we have to find an alternative spot for lunch or a drink. read more

Pelicans nest is a seabrook must! You can't beat the view here, there's not a bad seat in the house. My family loves stopping here for a dinner or lunch every year. The food is always pretty good but the atmosphere and kind service is really the star! read more

Beautiful location overlooking the beach, Deveaux Bank and the Edisto River outlet. The food was excellent, if a bit overpriced and the service was friendly. Just know that you must have a Seabrook Island amenity card to eat here. read more

You have to be a club member or guest to enjoy the Pelican's Nest. While resort expensive, the dry rubbed wings and fish tacos are hard to beat. Hamburgers are grilled frozen patties, would be worth the price if they were "handmade" patties. I imagine if you have had a golf course burger, you have eaten this one. Tots are great too! Friendly and polite service. Food three stars, the view is a star unto itself. read more

It's a nice little place with a lovely view. Being able to hear the water crash against the rocks is very lovely and probably my favorite part. What a gorgeous patio! We ate here several times during our vacation due to close proximity to our accomodations. The food was excellent and served by the most amazing servers and bartenders- great suggestions and incredibly helpful and kind. However, the managers on duty were so rude on every one of our visits. Shooing us out on members only night, directing us to the website for takeout instructions, and overall condescending in their responses to us and other guests. read more

Beautiful day next to a tide rolling in. Good selection of sandwiches and other items along with specials. Nothing spectacular but the location cannot be beat. The staff is excellent and very friendly. We usually have at least one meal a day there during our frequent visits to Seabrook. read more

Previous reviews pretty much nail it. Amazing unbeatable views in a family-friendly restaurant. The menu isn't amazing (it's hard to understand a restaurant on the ocean not having any local seafood options on the menu....) but what's on it is good. Service is on the slower side, but the place tends to be busy and I also think there's a deliberate leisurely atmosphere where they don't want people to feel rushed to leave. It is only for club members and those visiting the island--not worth a visitors pass just to come to the restaurant but if you're staying here, check it out. Our family (two grandparents, two parents, two kids) came here three times during our stay as it was the best option and everyone's food was great each time. read more

This place was awful. The only reason why people like this place is because it presents a status symbol to the members and make people feel special. The atmosphere was stuffy. The food was nothing special and the produce was not fresh. One aspect of this restaurant that was nice was the view of the water, but unfortunately the poor pest management made it difficult to enjoy. The manager was also very rude to customers didn't not represent the restaurant well. Think twice before spending your money here. read more

How do you charge over $110 for drinks and ruin an outing with your girlfriend and her family? Ask JON the bartender to take your order. Let me elaborate. We made a trip to the outside bar for a few drinks. JON, a white male bartender with dark hair and a black hat around 6 feet tall happily took our order and my credit card. We ordered a floater for two drinks, and an extra shot for two more. Everything was going great and we were enjoying our 4th of July. When the bill came back, Jon had decided that we had 7 shots for 4 drinks. When I confronted Jon, the excuses began. Jon said he poured some more vodka in a few of the drinks, but couldn't clarify who ordered them. Jon then said we ordered vodka on the side, but again wasn't able to describe who asked for them (see a pattern?) He was able to clarify that my credit card was already ran and there was nothing he could do (included in the bill is his 20% tip, obviously). $3 a shot isn't much. But the greed shown by Jon and the ability to lie to my face is the reason I'm writing this review. Please, if this bartender happens to take your order, ask for a copy of the bill before you pay. Seated in about five mins, but we were a party of 5 put at a square, 4-sided table. No biggie. We're young twenty-somethings. We can handle it. Just weird. The food service was a little slow but the food itself was great. Portions were plentiful. I decided to try one of the specials- 6 general tso wings. I also opted for a salad. Thank god I got the small portion because it was HUGE! My cousin got the Becky salad with no chicken in a full size and could hardly leave a dent in the portion. Others at the table got a burger, chicken sandwich, and egg salad sandwich special. All had good reviews. We shared sweet potato fries for the table and they were good but not the best I've ever had. The views are gorgeous and the breeze was a blessing on a hot day. Loved the beach access. Pool was crowded and almost too warm, but we had fun. read more

The best thing this place has going for it is the view! Stay away from the mixed drinks, which are overly sweet and overpriced! The sweet potato fries and tots were served Luke warm. We ordered a hamburger, specifically with no cheese. It was served with cheese. We ordered a chicken sandwich without the avocado mayo. It also came out with the mayo on it. The chicken sandwich was good once I scraped off the mayo. The rest of our food was adequate for a beachfront restaurant. With the beautiful panoramic view of the ocean, this place could be so amazing if they improved their food and service! read more

Unless you know someone or you're staying on Seabrook Island, the area is off limits to the public. This is a gated community and very strict on who they let in. We were turned around and told we could not enter. The restaurant is private. Never heard of such a thing. Don't waste your time heading out that way. read more

We have eaten here for 5 different meals this week, and everything we have gotten has been delicious! Service has been great as well. We tried another restaurant while here, and were so disappointed that we decided Pelican's Nest will be the spot for dining out! We bought a vacation house here about 5 years ago. At that time the Pelican's Nest had pretty good food. We started going there at least twice a week when here. The food each year has gotten worst. We eat there last night with two guest. The food was awful. How can you screw up a club sandwich and wings. the place is beautiful but we can't eat there anymore. Wish they would get someone who knows what they are doing and gets the food back on track. The servers and bar tenders are the best so we will keep going for drinks but not for the food. read more

I stayed on Sea Isle for five days, and ate here every day. Some of the food is very good; especially the chicken nuggets. The steak was also delicious. The burger was mediocre, and the quesadillas were pretty awful. My real problem is the service. The service; which is awful. Terrible. It took forever for our waiter/waitress to appear, and for our drinks to come. They also charged $5.50 for a beer. A freaking Miller Lite. Steve Buscemi didn't know how good he had it in Reservoir Dogs. In the iconic opening scene of the film, he refuses to tip at a diner and opines that no one should tip at a restaurant. Actually, Nuck, if you there is no tipping, mayhem breaks out. The waiters were not tipped here at Pelican's Nest, and thus, did not give a &$@% about their customers. It was like Risky Business, just at a beach in South Carolina. read more

Just ok... Items are hit or miss and sky high prices. Kids meals are nice sized. I ordered a salad and the waitress kindly told me the small and large salads were pretty much the same size. The first time we ate there I had fish tacos which were pretty good. We had a crab dip that was really nice and crab filled. My husband had peel n eat shrimp and they were slimy. He sent them back which he never does. The convenience is great, but expect to pay about 2 times what everything is worth. read more

I was tempted to give 4 stars for the view alone, which is sweeping and awe-inspiring, overlooking the ocean. However, I could not overlook the service (we had to get someone's attention after 10 minutes of no one taking our order, with little kids about to lose it at dinner time), coupled with this being a private club dining experience and it is currently the Club's only full-service restaurant open. This should mean that the Club focuses all of their attention here, but it just felt crowded, touristy, and not exclusive or special at all based on the food and service. The seafood pasta was one of the "specials" but it was the opposite of special- the worst seafood pasta I have ever had- mainly ziti with a scant sauce, 2 pieces of shrimp, and a few scattered shreads of what looked like crab meat. Someone else in my party had the fish and chips, which was quite good. Kids' menu food is forgettable. My martini came in a plastic cup without warning- just sad. If "no glass" is the rule, then why serve the gentleman two tables down a glass bottle full of Caymus wine? We have been considering buying a home on this island, but have been unsure due to the mandatory Club membership. This experience just sealed the deal on that decision. read more

Pelican's Nest is a good restaurant... for the location and staff. Although, the food is very average. I got the hush puppies for the appetizer and the sesame-seared tuna for the entree. The hush puppies were great. They were moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. On the other hand...the tuna was bad. It was supposed to be rare on the inside and cooked on the outside. Instead, it was cooked all the way through. Also, I thought it would be an Asian flavor since it said "sesame-seared" but it had an odd combination of creole and Japanese flavors. To add to that, the rice and Asian slaw were both flavorless. For me the highlight of the dish were the tempura green beans which were nice and crispy. To sum it up this is a restaurant with a great location and good staff with very average food. read more

Pelican's nest is not intended to be a "dining" facility. Like many New England Lobster Shacks Pelican's is sort of .... "in the rough" . BUT........... The food is good.... a little high priced until you add in the cost of gas for a round trip to Charleston for a different place.... 50+ miles AT ??? mpg = 1.5 gal +/- AND..... the ambiance is unbeatable .... 20 ft from the ocean with Dolphins swimming past, pelicans fishing off shore, and a sea-breeze on the hottest nights, with live ( simple, but live) music on weekends. The wait staff is very well trained and helpful . PS... their pizza is one of the better pizza available on Johns Island read more
