The chicken dip wasn't spicy at all in my opinion. I only wish that they have more sauce for both appetizers. The fish n chips were the best at this place! Crispier than the last place. The ratio of fish to crisp was great because I actually like there to be more fish in my fish and chips. This place delivered. We sat outside and it was super relaxing to watch the golfers stroll around. Our server was right on time but not overbearing. Not sure why I waited. We came for dinner during our vacation to Kiawah, and got several menu items including the giant pretzel, chicken tikka masala, and surf + turf. We also got the catch of the day, but it was undercooked and we had to send it back. We sat on the patio, which had gorgeous views of the golf course. The service was fine, but not exceptional. It was an okay experience, but there were a lot of roaches and one rodent on the porch (we were outside, but still a little icky). The crown of marinated golden beets sits on a bed of frisee greens (curly endive), red quinoa, goat cheese crumbles and finished with red wine vinaigrette. We dined at the Player's Pub as a part of a Golf Buddies trip to Kiawah (20 people). This restaurant was exceptional. The staff was wonderful and accommodating. They had set our group up outdoors with a tv to watch the game. The food was solid. As a result of the positive experience, we returned for lunch on our final day. We ordered the Buffalo chicken dip which was actually disappointing because it tasted more like queso with a couple pieces of shredded chicken buuttt the rest of our food was delicious! I ordered the PEI mussels which came in a savory broth with toasted bread, my husband ordered the burger which came with caramelized onions and Swiss cheese (super flavorful!), and we shared the fries which were also great. Don't let the name fool you. This is 5 star quality cuisine. It's not the largest menu, and it doesn't have to be. The presentation of the dishes are worthy of magazine publishing. I had the braised carrot. It had a purée, and sweet potatoes, which I would have never thought would be a spectacular addition, but it was! The braised short rib was so juicy, and drenched in the braising/reduction. For an appetizer we had the Buffalo shrimp, which I would recommend anyone have, coming off the 18th hole. I had this craft cocktail called the sassafras, which is basically an old fashioned with an absinthe wash. Stand back!!! Delivers a punch! Highly recommend this place if you're on Kiawah island. read more

So this is meant to be a high end restaurant, it cost $178 for two drinks, one appetizer and 2 entree. And with tip that was a $220+ for a meal and it was barely passable. The appetizer was good, the drinks were good but the entree had plenty to be desired, the mushroom melody was so salty it was inedible and the Prime Rib (which was the special) was so unbelievably chewy that it was left on the plate. I would say for a place of this stature you need to rethink k the menu and quality. Was greeted by the hostess that directed me to open seating at the bar. Sat at a high top on the wall. Ordered a local ipa and a Jameson. Talked to the waiter for suggestions. He recommended the shrimp and grits. They were absolutely incredible. I will crave them. I was a bit hungry so I also ordered 8 wings. 4 Buffalo and 4 of the Carolina gold. Came for dinner on first night after check-in. Great service, great atmosphere. We decided to sit inside in a very hogworts-esque dining hall. We were seated in a little alcove on the side. It had TV screens tastefully located so you could see bball games. But not like a traditional sports bar. 2 of us got the wedge salad to start- very good and tasty. My daughter and I got the NY Strip to split, someone got wings for their main meal and a steak sandwich. When they brought our strip they brought it out and then another plate underneath. What in the what? For market price you'd think they'd split at least the broccoli and potatoes.... Ok at least it looks good- nice char on the outside with a nice Pat of garlic and butter on top. After splitting the steak I noticed that it was medium rare plus much closer to medium. In addition, it was not tasty. The meat was somewhat tough. I mean, what a massive let down. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and tender inside and quite tasty. The broccoli had a charred taste which wasn't my thing. Buffalo wings were spicy and the steak sandwich was ok. Overall we were pushing $300 for dinner for 4 and it was sub meh. It may be harsh, but in the world where I come from you cannot be a chef and deliver a rubber NY Strip. The experience did provide ample conversation at the table on how the check messed up, and how the chef should have cooked it. Service was good. No complaints there- but as I write this I'm still miffed at a botched, tasteless NY strip. read more

We always enjoy having dinner here every summer we visit. This year I had the shrimp and grits and my husband ordered their take on shepherds pie. Both were outstanding!! I know, who orders a salad at a bar/pub, but sometimes you're in the mood for a well done chopped salad with all the toppings! I ordered the beet salad with shrimp. I couldn't believe what came out actually made its way out of the kitchen. There were 5 small pieces of shrimp, tiny cubes of beets, and 5 large raw cut round zucchini slices. Beautiful views & good service, but food is lacking. They have a great opportunity to do elevated pub food, but the burger wasn't flavorful, the brioche bun isn't hearty & fell apart instantly. This was our first time dining here since it opened, and it was great! The flavors of the short rib were on point, maybe a little too much sauce, but it was delicious nonetheless. I substituted the grits in the short rib dish for the polenta. My husband enjoyed the local strawberry salad that he added shrimp to. There were a lot of great looking burgers that were delivered to nearby tables, will have to try one of those next time! We ordered the strawberry crunch cheesecake for dessert... it was SO good! It was very light and not too big, but we were stuffed so it was the perfect dessert to split. We look forward to returning. read more

We came for a last minute stay in Kiawah and just wanted low key for dinner. We knew the views were great and the menu matched our needs. 2 people. No alcohol. 1 appetizer, 2 entree. $105 before tip. The chicken on my chicken gnocchi had the consistency of the chicken jerky treats I buy my dogs. I could literally bang it on the table. I'm not one to send food back. But I really should have. His steak was ok. We grill better ones at home. The frites (steak frites) were also over-cooked. Incredibly disappointing. Especially for the price. read more

Literally the worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant in my life, no exaggeration. Pan seared flounder that was small, mushy with no sear, and so salty it was inedible. A lot of carrots and potatoes that were undercooked and also over salted. My wife ordered the chicken tiki masala, which I thought was adventurous, mediocre at best, probably the worst of all the take out we've ever had, but at least it was edible. This was the first meal in a restaurant I could not even eat, only took two bites, and the place is expensive $$$. I never post reviews, but the experience was so bad I had to do this. If you go there and order anything more than a hamburger it's your own fault. Wish I could give zero stars. read more

I am very disappointed with the food and service I got at this restaurant. While vacationing in Kiawah, we tried to eat at all of the local restaurants. This one bad. My wife had the chicken and dumplings which were OK. I chose the fish and chips which were the house specialty. It was awful. The fish was a fried mess and the chips were thin and cold. I had to cut away all of the fried batter to get to the fish. When the waiter came by he could see that my plate was full of un-eaten food and just took it away not offering anything else. He should have seen that there was a problem. Especially considering the price of the meal which including the tip was $120.00 for an appetizer, entrée (2) and dessert (2) I would not recommend eating here. Go to the other restaurants on the island which were a lot better. read more

Decided to try the Players Pub at Cougar Point as I had heard a couple of friends say that it was pretty good. As the name suggests, this is absolutely pub food, including fish and chips, burgers, nachos, etc. Most of the menu items had some sort of new spin on them (for example, Brie ham and cheese on ciabatta and queso fundido nachos, but at the end of the day, you should temper your expectations. I opted for the grouper sandwich, which my server mentioned was one of the more popular lunch choices. I would give the sandwich itself 3 stars. Presentation was great but LOTS of batter and could have used something briny like pickles or pickled onions to balance it out. I attempted to make this a little more healthy by adding a salad with ranch, which was exactly what you'd expect. The view of the 18th green was great and they brought over a heater at my request, so I would worry about sitting outside during the colder months. Service was a little slow for a random Tuesday at 2 pm, but I was enjoying the view so it was no big deal to me. My lunch totaled $25 before tip, and I had a water to drink. Not exactly cheap, but that's Kiawah for you. read more
