This is a fun place to take people from out of town! Their food is always fresh and delicious. I got the mixed greens with grilled shrimp this time. The shrimp were a good size and great with a squeeze of lemon! They do have indoor seating but even in the summer you are able to sit outside because they have lots of fans and shade. You order at the window, then they bring your food out to your table. They are pretty quick with getting their orders out! So glad I found this gem while visiting the area! We arrived and got in the short line to order. I loved how many menus they had for you to look at before you got to the counter. They also had a ton of local beer options, which my fiance and I appreciated. The cashier who took our order was so kind and helpful. I decided on the frog legs as an appetizer since I had never tried them before and I'm so glad I ordered them. They were absolutely delicious! I loved the Remoulade sauce they came with too. For my meal, I got the grilled shrimp platter with coleslaw. It was great too! There are outdoor tables with coverings and fans were blowing to help ease the heat. Both of the staff members I encountered were so friendly. I wish I had gotten their names. They have both Indoor seating and a large outdoor seating area. Beautiful view of the water! Ordered the seafood combo (grouper and shrimp) to go. Everything was fresh. I was given a wait time of 30 minutes, but they made my order much quicker than that. Everything was fried nicely, although the breading wasn't really stuck to the meat. The seasoning was great and nicely fried. Fries were decent, a bit greasy-tasting. Went here the other day and honestly really solid spot. Food is awesome. I had the grouper sandwich and it was incredible, definitely would get that again. A couple things to know going in. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare. You usually have to wait just to get into the lot and sometimes end up pulled off on the side of the road which is a little sketchy. That said, they do have a parking attendant and it actually runs pretty smoothly all things considered. It is more of a casual setup too. You walk in, order at the counter, grab a number, and they bring the food out to you. Not really a sit down reservation type place. Last thing, the bugs are no joke. This is a strange little place. Parking is a big issue, because there's very little. You order at a window outside, which our day it was very hot outside. We sat inside and it was pretty loud. My shrimp and grits were ok, but nothing special. The shrimp was pretty good though. We didn't get service really, with the exception of pouring a little more water for us. Couldn't wait to try this place mainly because you can eat outside with lovely views and they had whole fried okra which is without a doubt my favorite vegetable in the universe. Alas, it was raining cats and dogs so we sat inside after figuring out the order system. My pet peeve with restaurants is that they often bring the food only lukewarm. NOT HERE! Every dish we had was piping hot. That fried okra was outstanding!! I don't know where they get their product, but the pods were just the right size for frying and not a single stringy piece in the bunch! I could honestly just go there to get fried okra and a glass of wine! During happy hour of course. Whole flounder was excellent. I loved that you don't have to ask for lemons, tartar sauce and ketchup because they automatically bring it. Blackened grouper was tasty though a tad on the thin side. Onion rings were fair. They were hot, but I believe frozen. Fresh rings never have a batter that perfect and when you bit into them the onion completely came out of every one. So most of my crust was left behind. The collards were cooked perfectly, but I did not like whatever that seasoning was in them. Not at all. The staff are extremely nice. One positive thing about the rain is there was zero line and only a few inside. Our server said they are slammed at this time on a Saturday night so we definitely got lucky. Okra, I'll be back! Food came out quick, appetizers came out 5 minutes after sitting down and the mains 10 minutes. Smaller sized establishment but on the water with a great view. Proportions were definitely on the smaller side, and a confusing part of the sides to some entrées said "Hushpuppies" however upon receiving the entrees you only get 1. We came to this restaurant for a quick lunch before everyone heads out to the airport. It's a casual rustic looking place on the west side of the road so a bit tricky to turn into the parking lot if coming from the south, and parking could get a bit crowded come peak lunch time. You order at a window outside, get a number and seat yourself either in or outside - inside a bit dark and not very big but there are a lot more tables outdoors which is the preferable place to sit on a nice day. As a Charleston native born at MUSC, raised in the Lowcountry, and fully committed to supporting local spots, I truly wanted to love this place. But unfortunately, I was greeted not by hospitality... but by what can only be described as a one woman parking lot circus. The blonde parking attendant dressed all in pink immediately blocked the entrance as I was pulling in, forcing me onto the shoulder. Since it was my first time there, I got out (like a normal, polite human) to ask if they were closed for a private event since I had others meeting me there . Instead of answering the question, she launched into a full volume lecture about not parking on the shoulder. I apologized and said it was my first visit and without missing a beat, she hits me with: "It's everyone's first time." Ma'am... what does that even mean? Is this a restaurant or a life lesson? Then plot twist she announces there's magically a parking spot available. So I get back in my car, drive further down and loop around, and come back... only to find her on the edge of the road waving her arms like she's auditioning for a role as one of those inflatable wacky waving tube guys . Completely distracting drivers road and a total liability being so close to the road . I pull in. She's yelling. I turn. She's yelling. I park where she points... and she yells that it's the wrong spot . At this point, I wasn't sure if I was parking or participating in some kind of high stress team building exercise. So I did what any reasonable person would do and I left . You can't treat people like that , especially those that you expect to wait in a long line outdoors in the elements just to financially support your business . Mid life crisis Molly dressed in pink was completely unprofessional and her meltdown solidified I won't ever patronize this place or any place that allows staff to disrespectfully engage with customers . I had a group meeting there. We all happily took our business elsewhere . One of my favorite local spots here in James Island. Parking can be challenging on the weekends but there is generally someone where helping guild people go spots and she is honestly the sweetest person ever. I love coming here in the afternoon to grab a snack and get some reading or work done. The view is incredible, the food is always good and they have a great drink menu. We went to this place on Sunday right after church and the line was long and we were able to look at the menu while we were waiting for our turn to order the food. We opted to sit outside and they have sail shades for outdoor seating. The food were great and all happy with their order. Although, the pasta and the grilled mahi-mahi can have more salt and they do have it in the bucket so you can season your own food. The collards green and onion rings were pretty spot on! We were hungry so we devour all the food. The view outside overlooking the inter coastal waterway was pretty peaceful. Will try to coming back next time. read more

The shrimp were tasty--just a little on the salty side--but overall we enjoyed the dish. Unfortunately, the service really brought the experience down. At initial food delivery, we asked for an extra plate and extra dressing, but our waitress never came back to the table. Throughout the meal, it felt like we were constantly trying to get someone's attention for basic things. The staff didn't seem unfriendly, just completely inattentive. With the lack of service, I had prematurely tipped 22% at the register, so I learned a lesson there. We're hoping this review helps them improve, but the team definitely needs to be more tuned in to their patrons. With better attentiveness, this place could match its great atmosphere and solid food. read more

The grouper sandwich was very good and fresh; the water and marsh views from the outdoor tables were fantastic even on a hot and humid July afternoon. This is a great place for Lunch First you have to know the parking is small tight and crazy. Thankfully, the business is savvy enough to know and not too cheap to hire a person to direct traffic in and out. I can't imagine the mess it would be with no support. The guy managing the parking lot did a great job. While the parking lot was busy indicating a bunch of customers, not one person was eating inside as the weather along with the view was perfect. The wind was blowing in, which I imagine is the case almost every day, was blowing in from the water/marsh. While the portions (at least the Grouper) are not huge, the prices are very reasonable. Both the Wife and I ordered the Grouper platter, with the wife getting Fries as her side, as I getting Onion rings. The fish had a nice batter, that was not overly thick, and fish itself was cooked to a perfect temperature. We both liked the sides we ordered and the hush puppies had a very slight sweetness we both enjoyed. I added an extra portion of fried oysters which were very good. Fantastic View, great weather, and good food, what more can you ask for. Looking forward to our next trip to try the fish tacos. read more

We came here for lunch on a Monday. It's counter service. We started with peel.and eat shrimp that were pretty bland. I had the crab roll and I think there was mango in it? Surimi and mango isn't a great combo. Two sandwiches, one app, and one cocktail and we were at $65. I can't ding them on the service. Everyone was extremely nice and friendly. I was very disappointed in the pecan slaw, I'm born and raised SC and I've never heard or had pecan coleslaw. I really enjoyed coming here. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I didn't catch names, but everyone checked in on us and even brought me the match books when I asked about them. The food was A+ every single dish. The fried flounder was so delicious the breading, the texture, the temperature was just perfect. The high poppies were also perfect. They had a crispy sugar exterior with a soft texture and moisture inside. I feel all sides were the same description: crispy, fresh, flavorful. We loved sitting outside and enjoying the sunset. Just perfect outside and the views really sell this place! If you haven't been, get over here. The only caution I give is the parking lot isn't huge and there is no parking anywhere else. We were on our first visit to Charleston and this seafood restaurant was close to our AirBnb. The parking lot was pretty full when we arrived at 5:30pm but a sweet, very helpful attendant made our parking a breeze, helping to direct in and out going traffic. The rustic look when you walk in is a bit deceiving as they have some of the best views of the marsh with many clean and comfortable seating options on their back deck. This little hole in the wall spot is one of the most authentic fish camps I've eaten at in a very long time. The ambiance is definitely old fish camp style where you order at the window take a number and someone brings your food to your table which is out by the edge of the water.
