The live music outside was very loud so we opted to sit inside - it could use a good deep clean. Service was slow- but it seemed they only had two girls running around and doing the best they could both inside and out. The sweet potato fries were worth the extra money. I had the crab grilled cheese- over all it was okay but the crab was freezing cold in the middle. Husbands fried basket only came with one piece of fish and was not worth the extra $13 to make it a double basket. There are definitely better places to eat on folly read more

The lobster roll and fried shrimp basket were a delicious bite to eat after a nice beach day. Service was slow at first but we believe it's because there was maybe 1 or 2 servers the day we went. Perfect sun covered balcony to enjoy the breeze without blaring hot sun. read more

The food was amazing and quick! The staff was very friendly and good energy all around, we went on a Wednesday afternoon and the band was great. The crab soup was amazing, kind of a lobster bisque type of flavor and very fresh. The lobster roll was amazing! The lobster tasted very fresh and the parsley and butter combination worked well. The roll was toasted to perfection. If you get anything from this menu, I highly recommend the lobster roll. The portion sizes were also great. The calamari wasn't anything crazy, breading was kinda falling off of it. The 1 lb peel n eat shrimp was also very good. The sand between my toes drink was also delicious. I came here on Sunday around 8pm. I wanted a lobster roll and some wings and saw this place had both on their menu so it was a no brainer. It was relatively quiet and not busy but I didn't mind that after having hopped around to a couple spots the previous night. I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of wine to start. It was nice and chilled to a crisp which is how I love it. The wings were good, plenty of meat, and a good heat to the sauce. The lobster roll was delicious too; a hearty portion of lobster and I even enjoyed the fries which I don't normally eat. I had a good conversation with a couple other patrons too so that made the meal really nice too. For a nice, no frills spot, this is a solid place to visit. read more

Finally got to eat dinner at the washout. Male server was very efficient and polite. Food was good. Classic seafood dishes and regular dinner food like cheeseburgers. I always try fried flounder if a place has it fresh. Single version of fried flounder, perfectly coated and cooked. Loved it didn't need hot sauce or tarter sauce, just a squirt of lemon. cheesy grits as the side was a great choice. Spicy tuna wrap has a kick, and sauteed veggies were fresh and not overcooked. Visiting Folly for our annual pilgrimage to see the Krushtones, and once again it was a grand time. (April 19 and 20th) We have ate at just about everywhere on this beach island community. It was early afternoon and needed to get some lunch and wanted to sit outside to observe the foot traffic on the main street. We were across the street and saw this place, we both said at the same time "is that new place". Not been there yet. They had outside seating as well as indoor, perfect. Took a seat at the bar, it wasn't busy at this time. It really fills up in the evening. As I sat I could see in the cooler they served Miller High Life, wow not had one of those in a while, we both had those. I checked out the menu a wanted something light, ordered the chicken czar wrap. She asked me if I wanted grilled, I said sure not knowing what they were about to do. When it arrived I could see it was put on a flat top and grill sealed, dang that is how wraps should all be done. The only ding would the fries. These were like Checkers with a coating. Be nice if would serve the regular too. My wife had the appetizer czar salad and was just as good. My husband called in for a to go order and was told it was going to be 20 minutes. He walked over there after 20 minutes and waited an additional 25 minutes on our food. They weren't even that busy. We got the calamari and the fried oysters with fries. It's a 3 min walk back to our airbnb from the restaurant. The calamari is not worth the price. Tiny pieces and the breading wasn't crispy at all. The fried oysters were ok but the fries were tasteless and soggy. There are much better seafood around the area than this place. read more

First of all I absolutely love the vibe of this place it is so decorative with all this beach memorabilia and such. Everything was just perfect for a nice sunny beach day. I got the fried flounder (comes with fries+coleslaw) Loved the flounder however it was pretty heavily breaded for such a thin fish but the fries and coleslaw were very good. However I think the best thing here was the service, Our waitress was totally chill and made sure that we were having a comfortable experience. However this is the cherry on top, I forgot my hat inside of the restaurant on the table and I left and was walking down the street and our waitress rushed over and returned the hat to me. A little tip, There is a super cool farmers market behind the restaurant starting at 5pm on Thursdays. Would definitely recommend going to the market and restaurant! read more

Tried this place out while we were staying in Folly Beach over the holidays. The service was friendly and helpful but food was only so-so. I had a lobster roll, which was good, but not great. The lobster was a little extra on the rubbery side, though it tasted good. The fries were also good, but pretty fun of the mill. My biggest mistake came in ordering the Smoked Paloma. I love palomas and drink that nearly everywhere I go, but this one was absolutely terrible. I'm not sure what they're using to make it "smoked" but it tasted like I was drinking straight liquid smoke. I had everyone in my party try it, working to convince myself that it just wasn't to my liking, but they confirmed my opinion that it was awful. Overall, The Washout had pros and cons. The Washout is right across from the sand on Folly Beach. Great little spot for some seafood or comfort foods. We ordered buffalo wings, fried fish, and a tuna wrap. First night at Folly, and this was a bust for us. First, we ordered calamari- they were out. Same with the tuna. And the shrimp and grits. So I ordered a lobster roll. Five minutes later server comes back- out of lobster too. So I got the fried oysters, which are not in season so probably not fresh, and were small -- and few.. The music is much too loud to engage in conversation, maybe that's not a negative for some but I found it unpleasantly loud. My husband enjoyed the grilled shrimp tacos. We went to The Washout before going to the beach. We chose this restaurant because we were looking for a quick bite to eat for lunch. Another plus about The Washout is that they have their own parking lot. Sometimes there isn't a lot of parking at Folly Beach during the summer so it was nice to find a parking spot in an area that is nearby the restaurant. I ordered the chicken tacos. They were delicious and the meal was a good portion. My parents loved the she crab soup. The service was great! Our server was friendly and we received our food rather quickly. Overall, we enjoyed The Washout and I would definitely go back there the next time I go to Folly Beach. I recommend this place to grab a meal if you're looking for somewhere to eat at Folly Beach.
