We are home remodelers and builders and have used the Apple Valley store as has our Painter for…read moreyears and recently needed a stain color match. Brought it in on a Friday and the gal working got to it right away, but over the weekend we realized the match was not where it needed to be so brought it back on Monday morning. When I dropped it off I explained to the store manager, Bill, we needed a favor because our Painter was standing idle at the job. His response was "What's your number?". No care or customer service to say when I might have the match. So I gave it a couple of hours and went back to see about the stain. Asked how it was going and his response was "Did we call you?" I shared my frustration with their 1-3 day policy for stain matched and shared the fact that if I waited one to three days to respond to my customers, I probably wouldn't have any. The manager's response was "Well you should plan better." The last thing you want to say to a general contractor who that's all they do is plan, schedule, manage and organize subcontractors and suppliers like him to get jobs done. Being condescending to your customer is not a good look especially in front of your employees. He could've responded so many other ways like "I'm sorry we do that because it takes time but we will work on it right away and try to get it to you as soon as we can." He maybe could've even said a timeframe especially when he knew our painter was waiting at the job. I would've given five stars for the gal who worked on the stain. The one star rating goes to the store manager. Thankfully, there are many other Sherwin-Williams stores in the Twin Cities.

It had not been run in a few years and I'm elbows deep into a bike project. They said they'd call with an estimate. Great. Call they did ... to tell me that the saw was done and I could come and get it. Ahhhhh? What about calling with an estimate, and what is the bill? "About $100" I was told. Okay. I dropped by to pick up my saw and pay the bill. After waiting a seeming eternity it becomes clear that they can't find my saw. So they bring me back in the shop area to ID it. I finally find it and ...then they can't find the bill. I wait another 20 minutes and then just leave. Without my saw. I had been in the store for 40 minutes at this point. (A point: their computer system seems like a detriment to actually getting people in and out of the store quickly. I looked over the guy's shoulder and viewed the screens and masses of entry boxes. We put a man on the MOON with little more than a clock radio, okay?) I called the manager and explained to him what had happened. He was aware of my situation and said they'd been experiencing a lot of turnover in the repair shop and this was why it is just coming out of a sea of disarray. I also mentioned the estimate on repair suddenly becoming a bill. He said that he'd adjust the bill for me and that I'd be happy. I return to the store. The bill is presented. There is no adjustment. I mention this to the clerk helping me. He takes me back to the shop to find the original bill (I think). I am wondering at this point if they are going to just kill me and get this over with. He finds the bill, and stares at it, clearly ruminating over what to do. He wants to help. He is anguished by this situation. I can't do simple arithmetic either, so I say, "How about $65?" He is awash with relief. "Okay, $65." We bring it to the checkout and he hangs for a few minutes to try and get the check out clerk to do this quickly. He leaves. Then more chaos ensues as the checkout girl can't get the register to work correctly because of the numbers on the bill. "These SKUs won't automatically enter the price," she says to me. I own some SK wrenches but am actually no longer dumb enough to blurt stuff out like this now that I am old. I just hang, decide to buy some candy. Like 10 minutes later I am paying and leaving. I go to Runnings at least once a week to get something, I prefer it over Menards and Ace. They are trying and they'll get it. Saw runs great.

After doing some research online, I discovered Fan Man Lighting in Apple Valley Minnesota. I called and spoke with a representative describing the symptoms of the fan stopping and when the Inteli-Switch was depressed the blades moved an inch then stopped abruptly. I was advised that the circuit board had apparently failed after over 25 years. Since the circuit boards are virtually nonexistent, Fan Man Lighting has begun manufacturing their own however, a replacement switch had to also be installed to operate the new circuit board. I placed an order at the recommendation of the representative and both parts were were shipped. I received the replacement circuit board and switch within five days. A QR code located in the instruction sheet, which was very clear linked to a video on how to install which took less than 45 minutes. Once installed, I still had the same issue. I called Fan Man Lighting for further assistance. The family business owner Jason offered to FaceTime me to watch what was happening with the fan. He immediately noticed that the fan flywheel was to low and had apparently dropped which impaired the fan blade rotation. Jason spent 35 minutes with me on FaceTime walking me through how to raise the flywheel and then tighten in against the shaft flat indent with a 3mm Allen Wrench. Successful operation was achieved! Jason stated I could certainly return the parts via UPS in the provided box for a full refund. My wife and I are so grateful for the assistance from Jason and his employees Jack, technical support and Alex, in sales. Though it took time to receive the parts, enabling further diagnosis and eliminate other issues, ultimately the Fan Man Lighting owner Jason took the time at no cost to us to be sure we were satisfied with a working gem of a Casablanca Ceiling Fan. We highly recommend this business for any ceiling fan repairs or replacements nationwide. It's great to know that they have the parts, knowledge, experience, and professionalism to service their customers.
