Last week our Casablanca Panama II Ceiling Fan just stopped working while on. Since Casablanca was bought out by Hunter Fans years earlier we had limited support here in Southern California. After doing some research online, I discovered Fan Man Lighting in Apple Valley Minnesota. I called and spoke with a representative describing the symptoms of the fan stopping and when the Inteli-Switch was depressed the blades moved an inch then stopped abruptly. I was advised that the circuit board had apparently failed after over 25 years. Since the circuit boards are virtually nonexistent, Fan Man Lighting has begun manufacturing their own however, a replacement switch had to also be installed to operate the new circuit board. I placed an order at the recommendation of the representative and both parts were were shipped. I received the replacement circuit board and switch within five days. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A QR code located in the instruction sheet, which was very clear linked to a video on how to install which took less than 45 minutes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once installed, I still had the same issue. I called Fan Man Lighting for further assistance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The family business owner Jason offered to FaceTime me to watch what was happening with the fan.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He immediately noticed that the fan flywheel was to low and had apparently dropped which impaired the fan blade rotation. Jason spent 35 minutes with me on FaceTime walking me through how to raise the flywheel and then tighten in against the shaft flat indent with a 3mm Allen Wrench. Successful operation was achieved! Jason stated I could certainly return the parts via UPS in the provided box for a full refund. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My wife and I are so grateful for the assistance from Jason and his employees Jack, technical support and Alex, in sales.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Though it took time to receive the parts, enabling further diagnosis and eliminate other issues, ultimately the Fan Man Lighting owner Jason took the time at no cost to us to be sure we were satisfied with a working gem of a Casablanca Ceiling Fan. Our Panama was over 30 years old when one of the old Bakelite sockets in the light kit shorted to the frame. Fan Man Lighting supplied four new ones which I installed.....the old sockets were dust. I understand that's not uncommon. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When the fan still did not operate, I got a call from FanMan Jason himself![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Apparently, when the short occurred, the existing circuit board took the voltage and was no longer serviceable; one side of the control board was fried, making the fan unusable. (Jason: the smaller of the two boards, past the bend in the bracket, took the hit with several components burnt.) Jason told me about the conversion kit that was available to avoid having to throw away a perfectly good fan. And the light kit we had installed has four hand cut glass globes which aren't mountable on most new kits anyway. We received the kit four days later and it installed in about 15 minutes, exactly in accordance with Jason's video. A new control board and a new switch/communicator. It was a pleasure to deal with a service oriented organization. In today's world, emphasis is placed on replacing, and not repairing. But the older fans are mechanically much better. Fan Man Lighting helped me sort out an issue with my Casablanca fan with W85 controller - it would come on at max lighting and fan speed and would not respond to any fan or lighting adjustment inputs. I was expecting to have to purchase a new controller, but they helped me to identify the issue (lost communication between controller and fan) and selflessly instructed me on how to reestablish the link - all good! I will definitely go back to them if I put controllers on our other fans, or if ordering newer fans! read more

Over the course of a year I replaced controls and flywheels on 3 very old Odyssey fans and now they work great! It wasn't cheap but a lot less than replacing them with something of an equal quality. Needed control board for a 17 year old Casablanca fan. Casablanca no longer makes the part or supports repairs. Fan Man Lighting had the answer - they manufactured their own control board and wall control switch. I called and they helped me determine the correct repair kit and mailed the kit the same day for 2 day delivery. My repair cost ~$149 versus buying a new similar fan for $400. What a great shop! I have owned a Casablanca ceiling fan for many years. Lately, I was having problems with the Comfort Touch remote control - sometimes it would work, at random times it would switch speeds, often flipping to the fastest speed in the middle of the night and not responding to the remote. I looked online to see if I could by replacement parts, only to find that Casablanca had long obsolete this system and had no stock of replacement parts. Then I called Fan Man Tech Support on a lark, since they showed much more technical knowledge on their website, in the hope they might have a replacement kit. Jason turned out to be the font of knowledge on this fan and control system. He knew everything about it, and their shop was even custom-producing replacement kits to keep old fans like mine running. I installed the kit quickly and easily and it works great! I'm looking forward to many more years of use of my fan. Don't use Fan Man Lighting for any fan/lighting fixture needing repair. They ripped me off of almost $150.00 for a part that didn't work and never told me it was a "NON-RETURNABLE" item until after I had it. Ended up having to totally replace the fixture. And NO I did not purchase the new fixture from them. I'll NEVER give them another dime!!! I was able to separately choose the base, light fixture and even a different blade color. We had a setback when installing and they walked thru it with us over the phone and it ended up being a small user error with the remote. Our fan went out in a power loss in Jan, 2019. We called The Fan Man store in Eden Prairie and we were told the parts would need to be ordered, and only 1 person in the metro area was certified to make the repair. We were also told hundreds of people were ahead of us. Fast forward to July 13, 2019. Still no part and an inoperative fan. I went in person to the Burnsville store and received an entirely different story! Not only did they have the part, they make them for other vendors across the country! Jason sold me the part, gave me the name of the electrician. We called on 7/15/19, and our fan was operational by 2:00 that afternoon! I can't say enough about this company. I have a Casablanca ceiling fan with a light in it. Had it repaired for close to $400 four years ago and it NEVER worked consistently again. Called all over California trying to find how to get it repaired. Finally after a long search I was referred to Fan Man Lighting in MN. I can't say enough about the owner Jason Stevens and his associate, Jack. I was able to purchase the components to repair the fan myself and Jason and Jack walked me through it patiently and respectfully. Repairing a fan is out of my league. However Jason and Jack know what they are doing and are able to walk their customers through the process. And the new component parts I purchased from them was inexpensive. I probably saved close to $1000 had I had to replace a fan and have an electrician install it. I am so grateful that I found Fan Man. Before stumbling upon www.fanlighting.com, I'dI spent 5 or 6 hours on the net researching how to find a 2nd remote control for a Minka Aire ceiling fan and found that I was led from one wild goose chase to the next by ill-informed staff, bloggers, and ceiling fan supplier web sites. Fanlighting.com has a relatively low-tech and simply web design (most of it txt - based) but on every page, there were extremely well thought-through explanations and descriptions of the products that they sell (moral: Beware of web sites whose glitzy designs hide poor businesses). I was already impressed so I left them a voicemail message (didn't bother to do so with the many other sites that I"d visited) after midnight last night. At 80:1am this morning an extremely well-informed, politte, friendly, and helpful male voice gently but quickly guided me through the relevant issues to addess and questions to answer in order to arrive at the correct model number for my purpose. I'd already decided to buy from their site, given how helpful they'd been to me and expected to pay an above average price at what appeared to be a fairly low-turnover, family-run enterprise. What I was not prepared for was that their price was signficantly lower than all of the 9 others online sources for this item -- even than EBay! I'm in the Boston area and after disappointing customer service first with Minka Aire (the maker of my fan), and then with about six different fan stores in Boston, I found Fan Man in Minnesota. When I called, the gentleman (sorry, didn't get your name), was so friendly and helpful. He found the part, knew that the mail had not gone out yet today so it could be shipped right away, and got everything all set. On top of that, he let me know that the tracking info would be emailed to me in a few minutes so I could know when it would arrive. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with their level of service. I joked with them and told them that I am originally from the midwest and I really miss that kind of support. So true!
