Pena Tree Services was an outstanding experience. Called & Felix was responsive & friendly. Coordinated a time to estimate and was able to get that done same day in the afternoon. He was very friendly & provided me a very fair estimate. After researching snd looking and comparing & contrasting I didn't feel the need to shop around and decided Pena Tree Services was it. Was able to get scheduled the next day for a large pine tree removal on a hill where many large limbs overhung our outdoor kitchen. I was concerned, asked if I needed any prep work and he said no...we got it. The very friendly & professional crew came on time, dressed safely as that was a concern of mine as well, but safety is important to them, they put up plywood on the BBQ area, along the path from yard to driveway, put up tarps to prevent sap and debris. A group of 5 came and made short work of the 30 year old tree, no damage to anything, cleaned up and the crew was awesome. Outdoor Kitchen intact, no issues, cleaned up and very, very pleased with the estimate, the service, the quality of work, the price...all of it...very pleased. We loved our experience with Pena Tree Service. They we're quick to come out, give us a quote, and schedule service. For having an Insured team onsite for this job, the price seemed very fair. They arrived early and brought a team of 12 men to complete our big project. They removed 5 large trees (Pepper, Liquid Ambers, Eucalyptus) and trimmed up a bunch of others (Olive, Cypress, Pepper, Crepe Myrtle, etc). They were very knowledgeable, respectful, communicative, and caring. What surprised me and stood out the most was the communication and care that went into their service. They were easy going when I wanted to change things up last minute about which trees to remove/trim, they were helpful when I had questions and wanted to understand why they did things the way they did, they even sent ideas over about what to feed some of our trees that needed more nourishment, and more. I was especially impressed with the level of care Irbin displayed, always ensuring that we were well cared for and satisfied with their work. When a neighbor was involved with a few of the trees, he helped navigate those murky waters and it ended beautifully. So many of the guys were wonderful to work with. Very professional, highly skilled and knowledgeable team of people took care of some problematic overgrown trees for me, including entirely removing one giant and decaying Cypress in a matter of several impressive minutes. No high pressure sales tactics while viewing the property and discussing options. Pricing was competitive and fair. Estimate was clear, accurate, and provided sufficient detail to facilitate a customer's ability to weigh and make a decision. On trimming day, the men work as a polished team that scatters around the yard, everyone with a purpose and knowing just what to do. The results have been pleasing - not only doing the needed trimming but getting the "right" limbs and reducing the amount of leaves and twigs falling into the yard from an ongoing avalanche to a barely perceptible trickle. The team understands - to an extent remarkably unusual in today's business climate - that pleasing customers is good for everyone and will bring returning customers and good word of mouth about their work. One suggestion from me is to have the guys button up the cleanup with the same eye for detail that they apply to the work itself, as it was acceptable though a little spotty. Called Pena tree service, Felix answered, said he could be at our house in about an hour to give an estimate on our Date Palm that had dropped it's crown after 50 years. (50ft. tall) He arrived within the hour, was very professional and very informative. Gave me a quote that was extremely reasonable for the large project that we had. Irbin and his team arrived promptly at 7:30am (Saturday) and was very communicative all day through on what they were planning on doing. They did an extraordinary job!!! They went above & beyond to make sure that no damage was done to our pools or any other foliage in our yard & our neighbor's yard. Pena Tree Service is definitely the best!! They even skimmed the pools after the tarps came off. Was not expecting that at all.. ( since we put the tarps on ourselves and all the other tree services that we've used before have never done that!) I called Pena Tree Care & Services after seeing outstanding work completed at a neighborhood home. Felix gave me a quote that was more fair. Two days later there were 2 crews at my home. This is a massive job. They removed 29 40 year old Italian cypresses (half were 50' tall), a 50'+ pine tree, 2 Myoprum and 1 Eugenia that became trees. Some of the Cypress trees were in the middle of tall hedges next to chain links fences bordering my neighbor's home in my fenced backyard. Safety came first for the crews, my property and my neighbors' properties. The Pena Team members are professionals who care that everything is done right. My spa and pool area were covered to trap any debris and cleaned my pool. They used plywood and tarps to cover a block sidewalk and turf lawn to prevent damage. My neighbor allowed a lift in their yard to remove 50' cypress trees. All debris from the job was completely removed from our 3 yards. My neighbors were very happy. Pena Tree Service came to cut down my Pygmy Palm that at age 21 years was no longer a pygmy. One trunk, thick and over ten feet tall, was about to fall over and another was leaning heavily on my metal fence. To my surprise a task force of five vehicles arrived right on time, including a huge truck to haul away the trunks. Pena Tree Service is a family affair, led by Felix who handles appointments and everything else by cell phone, assisted by his father, brother Santos, and longtime family friends who now work for them. I wanted to plant new palms and had looked at some at a nursery, but was not satisfied. Felix said he could do better so I explained what I was looking for and he traveled to Vista where he found exactly what I wanted at a much lower price, While the crew was taking turns digging, the 63-year old father told me he started the business here in Carlsbad 36 years ago. I was fortunate to see some of Pena Tree Services' work as they had performed tree maintenance for several of my neighbors. I hired Felix and his crew to remove two Sycamore trees from my front yard that had massive root systems; some surface roots were 8" and more in diameter. They brought in a stump grinder and ground out both trees' root systems after they felled both trees. A thorough cleanup followed. With the root systems cleared of my front yard, I am now able to proceed with my makeover front yard landscape. What impressed me was the attention to safety for both the crew and surrounding properties, their professionalism, and their courteousness. Felix's knowledge as an arborist is exceptional, as we talked about the mentors he has access to. What a great job they did, and as a bonus, the price was below our budget for the job. Pena Tree Service did a terrific job at a fair price. They removed 2 palm trees from my front yard, one dead and one in danger of falling over. Their communication was excellent, getting back to us quickly for scheduling and arriving when they said they would. A pair of guys came to do the removal, both very polite and knowledgeable. I was worried about how long the job would take and the noise involved because I work from home and have meetings throughout the day. I was amazed at how quickly they were able to get the trees down and moved into their trailer for removal. It was really a relief how a seemingly big problem was resolved so quickly and easily. Felix and his crew did an excellent job trimming my queen palms and canary palm. They don't use spikes that can harm the trunks and were careful not to damage other plants during the pruning. For the canary palm they used a new chain for the saw and shared that the equipment had been cleaned with bleach before they began the pruning in order stop the possibility of spreading disease. The crew was pleasant and professional and made sure that I checked the cleanup before leaving.
