I personally had no interest in pruning it, aside from appeasing my neighbor, so I wanted to spend as little money as possible. The tree is probably 50 feet tall and hadn't been trimmed in 20 years. There were also various utility cables running through the tree. One more obstacle was that the tree is next to the fence of my downhill neighbor, who has a lovely custom patio and jacuzzi just underneath the tree. Of utmost importance was not damaging the downhill neighbor's property. Bart (and other tree trimmers) came out to see the tree and give me estimates. All the tree trimmers who responded were professional and attentive to our needs. They all gave bids that were considerate of our priorities. The bids ranged from $600 plus dumping fees to over $2,000 to bring in a fancy truck and netting system to catch the fronds before they hit our roof or the neighbor's yard. There was one that also included plywood over the windows that were nearby. Bart was a stand out among the trimmers we met with. He had a great vibe and seemed to be smart, caring and efficient. He also advised he was bonded and insured. We are putting a new roof on already in a couple of months, so we went for the lowest bid, which came from Bart. Bart and his crew showed up on time the morning of the job. We had asked them not to turn on any chainsaws until 9 am to give our neighbors a chance to wake up in peace and leave for work without heavy equipment in the street. Thank you for honoring this request, Bart. It was fascinating to watch the main guy up the tree work. There were 2 others who worked steadily hauling downed fronds from the back of the house to stack them in the driveway in front. By the time the tree was done, about 3 hours later, the stack was 20' wide by 5' tall. It was hard to believe it came from one tree! Bart's crew accessed the neighbor's property through us and did a great job cleaning up the fronds that fell over the fence. No damage was done to the neighbor's property. The crew then proceeded to chip up all the fronds, which they did quickly. They did an excellent job of cleaning up the impacted areas of my yard and were gone by 1 pm, which was considerably faster than I thought they'd be. Bart doesn't take Venmo, but Debbie, the owner, came by and picked up a check a few days later. While the crew was working on the tree, I did have a neighbor call me and tell me she had had a terrible experience hiring this company 20 years ago when she was very pregnant. Fortunately, I had read all the Yelp reviews from people who had commented that there was a man involved with this company a long time ago who was causing all the bad reviews. I can attest from my experience that that person is no longer involved. I worked with a woman for payment and Bart to arrange and oversee the job and both were lovely. I would hire them again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Economy Tree. My neighbors are happily enjoying their views again and my wallet isn't on fire.

In addition, Roger's Tree Service does not have proper business license and the State of CA does not recognize this service by license number or name. If we find another piece of litter on our property, a formal complaint will be made to the City and State. Both of these agencies prosecute as Misdemeanors. If you can't follow simple licensing, rules, regulations and read signs, we certainly will not consider your business!

The 50+ year old juniper trees were trimmed cleanly and with care, leaving them healthy and well-shaped. The work was completed in one day and for the agreed price, and the entire area was cleaned of all the loose branches and needles, and finally cleared with a low volume electric blower. Highly recommend for reliable and helpful arborist, who is interested in maintaining beautiful and healthy trees and treating them with respect, and not merely chopping them down. We had a very large branch high up on a pine tree break during a wind storm. The branch was barely…read morehanging on and if it fell it would have landed on our neighbor's fence. We called many, many tree service companies for estimates. The majority had no idea what they were talking about. They wanted to trim the tree while they were here (it is the wrong time of year to trim a pine), wanted to "top" the tree (this is the reason we had the break in the first place) and would not guarantee that the branch would not fall in their attempt to remove it. They also bid ridiculously high for the job, attempting to take advantage of the "urgent" situation at hand. K.O. himself came to the house to give the quote. He is an arborist and extremely knowledgeable. He assessed the job, gave a fair quote and guaranteed the branch would be secured during the process. Two days later he showed up with his skilled crew and made quick work of the job. K.O. is also a gentleman and it was a pleasure to chat with him about the other trees in our yard and get his suggestions for proper care. We plan to hire him again to trim our trees next year - before the sap is running. We HIGHLY recommend this tree service and encourage you to spare yourself from making 15 other frustrating phone calls. BTW - several of the other companies called back almost 3 weeks later asking if we wanted to hire them. Yeah...what part of urgent did you not get? Beware! I had KO Davis Tree Service give me a bid to remove…read morea large tree, and trim another. He was the low bidder for the job. I told him that I would need to see a certificate of insurance for both liability and workers comp, and I would check his license. His license, shows as being exempt from workers comp as he claims to have no employees. When I asked him about this, he said he paid his employees through a payroll service, and that they provided the workers comp. On February 12, 2015 he emailed me a certificate of insurance dated January 2, 2015, showing a labor provider as the insured. When I called the labor provider, they told me they stopped leasing employees for tree trimming over two years ago, and asked to see the certificate. I also called the insurance company shown on the certificate, and asked if it was valid. Both called back to say that the certificate for workers compensation insurance was fraudulent (their words) Needless to say, I did not go with KO Davis. If one of their workers were to be injured, the workers compensation liability would have fallen to me as the homeowner. Not providing this insurance for his employees allows him to underbid those companies that are properly insured. Don't let them near your trees!
