The Asada Street Tacos were decent. The salsa was okay, could've been better with more heat or atleast the option for more heat. The jalepeno was nice and spicy, but the radish seemed a little old. The surprising bit of it all that made the meal was the marinated fried onions. They definitely made the tacos. The service was great and quick. Definitely would go back. read more

In California we eat food out of trucks, particularly Mexican food, and it's better. It's hard to explain to foreigners from other states, but this is one of those places that proves it. I asked the attendant at the gas station if it was a good taco truck, she gave me that knowing look like I was a young pirate who just discovered a great treasure. I decided to begin with the tacos. Let me just say, they do not skimp. They don't skimp on portions, they don't skimp on quality, on extras, or presentation. I am writing this in a minor food coma. Four tacos were a bit much. I was able to strip down from two tortillas to one. "It's always makes me feel like I'm making healthy dietary food choices, illusion that it may be." You're probably wondering if I ate jalapeño. Had the carnitas taco and al pastor taco. The carnitas, although not the most flavorful carnitas that I've had, was super duper tender. As for the al pastor, I'm aware that some al pastor marinades use pineapple, and the pineapple really shines in the al pastor here. Was pleasantly surprised. The mild sweetness might not be for everyone, but it's definitely worth a try if you're curious. Aside from the sweetness, the al pastor was moist as well and the seasoned charred goodness was there. Overall very good tacos. No skimping on the protein in the tacos here that's for sure. The grilled jalapeño that came with the tacos was like the cherry on top. I recently tried some taco trucks in the Bay Area and with how fantastic the tacos there are this taco truck would definitely be a strong contender in the Bay Area taco truck battle. Delicious! Our first time ordering from here. We've passed by this taco truck thousands of time and never got a chance to eat from there. Today was the day! We ordered 4 carne asada tacos, fries, and a supreme burrito. The person that took our order was very nice. Food came out quick. Fresh, hot, and very tasty. This is the best taco truck I've been to in a loooong time probably the best one I've ever been to. I found it driving home to Sacramento from Stockton one day, now I drive down there at least once every couple weeks. The tacos (pastor, Birria, asada) are so delicious, they put a ton of meat in the tacos they are not stingy with the meat at all. And everything I bit into is so dam good even the grilled onions are amazingly awesome!! The service is always great and best of all the prices are great. Definitely try them out if you're thinking about some good quality Mexican food. It sounds odd to say you can get gas and breakfast at the same time, but YOU CAN!. I've eaten at food trucks before truck, but this food truck is off the chain AMAZING! I've only tried the breakfast burrito a few different ways, but talking to folks around this truck they say everything is delicious. The next is going to be the taco or the tostada platter which is scrumptious (I have that on good authority). I'm in a food coma as we speak. The breakfast burritos here are the best in town! If you are heartburn inclined, get all salsa on the side. For those who live on the wild side, get all the salsas! Service is very friendly and quick. This is a food truck in a gas station parking lot, but they have covered tables with plenty of seating. If you are driving through Galt south on the 99, this place is worth a stop! read more

This is a taco truck parked in the lot of a gas station right next to the entrance to 99 southbound in Acampo. We've been coming here for several years and I have to say that it's probably the absolute best taco truck around (and there are a ton of them). I usually get the Carnitas tacos, which are moist and seasoned just right, with lots of cilantro and green sauce. My husband and daughter get the carne asada, also very good. The side of beans we get is very flavorful and although I don't usually eat Mexican rice because to me it has a tendency to be dry, here it's very moist and flavorful. We've become regulars at Penas Taqueria truck. read more

Mediocre spot to grab a breakfast burrito. They are known for the $7.00 mixed breakfast burrito (bacon, ham, sausage, chorizo)all other breakfast burritos are $6.00 with one choice of meat. Inside the burrito is your choice of meat, potatoes, sour cream, scrambled eggs and cheese. Burritos come with a red and green sauce on the side. I was hoping that cilantro and onion would be inside as well but it is not. To me the burrito was subpar and lacking essential flavors. The green sauce had no flavor where as the red sauce had a mild hint of heat and reminded me of a popular hot sauce (Tapatio or something). read more

How does a Quesadilla and Nachos not have cheese, what is the main thing for both.... CHEESE!! Not only that but everything was stuffed with lettuce. Stopped to get gas. This place was amazing. I had the California Burrito which had Carne Asada and all the fixings. It was amazing. It felt super authentic. I am a huge burrito fan and this might have been the most delicious burrito I have ever had. The meat was both tender and a bit crispy. So full of flavor!! Pena's is a great truck! Just about everyone that I bring a breakfast burrito to from this truck say something along the lines of "this is the best breakfast burrito I have ever had." I won't lie, I agree. I have a friend that will drive from Elk Grove just to get a breakfast burrito from them. I usually get the all meat breakfast burrito to take to work for myself and my coworkers. It is also a bonus that you can get a breakfast burrito pretty much all day as well who doesn't love breakfast for dinner once in a while? However, do not over look their other menu items either. Their tacos are very good as well. We have had other things off the truck and have not been disappointed either. If you are in the area, give them a try, I doubt you'll be disappointed. read more

In a small trailer at a chevron station in Acampo there are big flavors that come out of that trailer. We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner there I wish I could go there for a midnight snack. Nothing is small there they definitely feed you everything we have tried the breakfast burritos, tortas, tacos and quesadillas and we will keep going back till we tried everything. The asada, chicken and chorizo are are favorites but I don't think it matters all is good in the neighborhood. Up next on our list asada fries. read more

He actually laughed on the phone and very sarcastically said, "gee, that's weird. I wonder how that happened." he told me I would have to call DoorDash and he hung up! DoorDash has an option to chat. And so I got on chat and asked them to quickly re-order as the restaurant closes at 10 o'clock, and re-deliver. They said that was not an option and they offered me half of my money back. Half! I later got every penny of it back, there was no way I was tipping that driver, but I digress... I quickly called the restaurant and told them of the issue. By now it was just about 10 o'clock. The woman on the phone looked up my order and I drove to the restaurant, getting there maybe around 10:05. The dining area was spotless, the kitchen was completely clean, and there was one person, mopping the floors. These four employees, however, opened the kitchen and re-made my order for me, even though they did not have to. Now, there were certain things they could not make like the nachos or the Beria tacos because they had already closed down the fryer, but I completely understood that and they substituted with more regular tacos. These four employees went above and beyond what most other places would have done because this was not their issue, it was a mistake by DoorDash. I was out of there by about 10:15. We will definitely return to this location. It's obvious they care about their customers and their food is also very good.
