While I was out of town, I stumbled across this taco spot tucked away along a strip of stores--and let me tell you, it's easily in my top three taco places ever. It might look unassuming from the outside, but the flavor and quality speak for themselves. The tacos are made fresh to order, come out fast, and are absolutely packed with flavor. Each one had just the right balance of meat, seasoning, and salsa (which they already add on for you). What really impressed me was how generous they are with toppings--they give you plenty of extras on the side without even having to ask. The dine-in area is cozy but spacious enough, with around nine tables and two bathrooms available for guests. Parking isn't an issue either, since the strip has spots on both sides of the road. While I ate in, I noticed a steady stream of people coming in for takeout, and everything ran super smoothly--fast, efficient, and friendly service. They also have a nice variety of drinks. I only tried the Jamaica and Horchata this time, and both were on point--refreshing and well-balanced, not too sweet. If you're in the area, don't skip this place. It's the kind of lowkey gem that serves up top-tier tacos with no fuss, just flavor.

I ordered food to go over the phone the gentleman that took my order was had good customer service. The place is small and had quick service took about 15 mins for my food and it was ready at pickup and food was still hot. Ordered asada fries although it didn't have nacho cheese it was still really good. The asada meat is marinated so well. And it was good portion. On Wednesday they have asada fries special with a free soda or water. I ordered a plain taco and side of rice and the rice alone did not taste that good. But definitely worth a try.

Being from the east coast, we don't have any great Mexican food that can compare to this place, but I was seriously blown away. The breakfast burrito was so good, see my breakdown below: Ambiance: 4/5 - I liked their decor, but not a ton of seating here. It wasn't a busy time when i went so we were able to sit down and enjoy. Price: 5/5- Everything on their menu is reasonably priced and comparable to chipotle in terms of pricing. For the portions and quality, I'm definitely coming here over Chipotle. Food: 5/5 - The breakfast burrito was AMAZING. It was so flavorful and the best word I have to describe it is balanced. Nothing overtook anything else and the spice level was awesome for a burrito. The meat and the rice balanced each other out very well and this is now my go to when I come to Cali. Service: 5/5 - always love coming here as they are super friendly and very understanding.

I don't know why this place gets so many positive reviews. Aside from friendly service and quick turnaround, the food itself is really low quality. I came here a while ago to try them out. Got a chicken super burrito. Like most places in Lodi, the chicken was the usual "pink" chicken, meaning low quality cuts, chopped up and set to simmer in a marinade in a steam tray. Super low quality. But it was a huge burrito, so maybe people care more about the size than they do about what they put in their body. The beans are whole beans, no refried beans. Their salsa roja is only available if they apply it, or you can ask for some to take home, but it isn't at the salsa bar. It's more like a hot sauce than a salsa though. I decided to come back and try something else. Everyone says their Asada fries are the best in town, so I tried them. The fries were skinny and dry, and seasoned with a chili powder and lots of salt, and the Asada is not cut up steak, it's that dry, over cooked, over seasoned stuff that most other places around here have. I have yet to see anywhere in town that serves read carne Asada or chicken that isn't basically dog food. I want to support the small businesses but until their quality gets up to edible, I'll have to pass.

Good customer service, plenty of seating inside, good for groups, daily specials,. I've been coming here for years and enjoy getting food but feel that there are some of days where the food doesn't come at the same quality mark. Came for the first time in over a year and the fries were salty and the burrito was okay. I would come back to try something other than a burrito, but I would just ask for the fries to be less salty next time. I'm leaving for states because my family likes coming here and I've had great experiences. read more

This is a cool little taco shop but just as i thought I found my new favorite spot I was mistaken. I like how they have fries so I ordered a Cali Burrito. The asada is pretty good and the fries ok but guess what? They dont have avocado or guac. So they make incomplete Cali burritos. What a shame. Whats a Cali burrito without avocado or guac??? This place was super yummy for no-frill tacos! Just moved to the Stockton/Lodi area, and I am highly appreciating the taco scene here. This spot is conveniently located 2 blocks off of the heart of Downtown Lodi. They have no frills but everything you want for tacos including a well-kept sauce bar for your cilantro, salsa, lime, etc. You can also eat in on the booths. I got 5 tacos to go--carnitas, tripe, as well as lengua (lengua availability was posted on the counter; not on the menu on the monitor). All were super flavorful. Would come back again to try their burritos and asada fries! read more

Stick to tacos. They're ok. Unfortunately this review is about their quesadilla. It's greasy and lacks cheese and any ingredients. They are generous with the meat but it really lacks. I did not eat it there. The restaurant is standard at best. The majority of patrons take their food to go. read more

Was craving a southside El Grullense burrito but was in Lodi so decided to go here since it's pretty much the same thing. Was pretty bummed that they Messed up on our order as well as our friends order. Forgot to add sour cream and cilantro on all of our burritos. A friend ordered a bean and cheese burrito which the cheese wasn't melted and was just thrown on the beans. It was horrible! The fries for the asada fries needed to be cooked a little longer. But as always the asada was flavorful and the hot sauce was on point. Maybe it was just an off day for the cook. Well definitely be back again tho since it's closer to us read more

SO AMAZING BEST IN NORCAL BY FAR!! I live 30 min away but I'll drive every two days I'm not kidding. All the meat is so flavorful I love asada and tripas. The sopes are an easy 12/10 if you ever went you would be amazed by the speed, quality, and service. So friendly so quick and the atmosphere is nice. Always clean!! read more

If you a fashion yourself a lover of taquerias and in the 209, there's nothing finer than El Gru. A mix of Nor Cal flair with traditional Mexican recipes, here ordering hot in your tortas, tacos, and burritos will yield you a sweaty wtf experience in all the best ways. Their al pastor (what's that spice?!) is my reference for all other establishments, and their short walk to local bars make them a go to before the hours get too late. Grab a grip of tacos and then head to Idol Beer Works or Five Windows. You won't doubt your choices. And let's not forget their quesobirria! A touch of Stockton here in Lodi! Support local OGs! Came back here for a chicken super burrito. Arrived home and noticed after a few bites that there was a hair in the middle of the burrito-literally pulled it out. It was about three inches long. BEYOND GROSS. WILL NOT RETURN HERE FOR FOOD. read more

The food is not the best the seasoning is overwhelming. And not the best. The pastor meat DOES NOT TASTE LIKE AL PASTOR AT ALL and in chunks for the tacos. The portion on the smaller side. The price is expensive on certain items like tacos de quesiBiria there very small for 4.50 each. If they were the bigger tortillas but no its the smallest taco truck size. Keto taco is 5*. Best I've ever had. Very well executed and I love the fresh produce that offset the heavy shell. Tacos are good too I've only had asada and chicken. Simply put We did not even get to the point of ordering because the customer service at this location was just absolutely a horrible experience! My Wife had a simple question in regards to an item on their menu and the man behind the counter smirked with a hint of laughter at the innocent question. I asked the rude man if it was normal to respond in that way and he just smiled again with no assistance or interest whatsoever. Horrible place to treat customers like their stupid read more
