I\nKnow what an inconvenience to have to talk to a client about their pet! And not to mention you're owned by a giant insurance company.You charge way too much money for your services! It was suspected that my dog had something stuck in her digestive track. We were sent to a hospital in buffalo for an after-hours ultrasound. The quote at the buffalo hospital was thousands of dollars. We decided to bring our dog home and call Penfield vet in the morning. I called first thing and they arranged for their ultrasound tech to come in and check our dog out. The people who work in this office truly care about animals and their humans. We are so thankful for Penfield Veterinary Hospital and the care that our precious fur baby has received from them. read more

We are new to this practice and had a terrible experience at a DIFFERENT vet in Webster when we moved here last year. Penfield Vet Hosp is a well-run business with a deep caring for the animals and their humans. I was impressed from the very first phone call I made to set up an appt. I am writing this from my friend Ruth who had to put her poor baby Ginger down yesterday. She had called two days in a row to have them squeeze her in. She had been bringing her 14 year old dog to this practice her entire life! They explained they had new patients and were understaffed but in an emergency and time of need to turn away a dying dog is unconscionable! Clark Animal Care Center 1672 Penfield Road has always been accommodating when my Shepard has ear infection flare ups and gets us in on an emergency basis. Beware! This hospital forces you to pay upfront and tells you what your cost is going to be while paying upfront only to tell you something else (bigger payment for something other than they told you at time asking for upfront payment). What rubbed me the wrong way is that I put the scheduled time in my phone calendar as I LIVE by my calendar, only to receive a call day of tell me my appointment was scheduled for a different time than what was arranged! Get all appointments emailed for confirmation, AND make sure to get the cost of any fees associated with your visit to avoid them telling you something different when you go there. Oh and by the way They want $450 usd just to fill out the health certificate, which gets electronically sent and the only fee associated with that is the FedEx return fee of the document. So if you are looking for travel purposes look for another accredited location there are a couple. They seem to want to milk you just because you are traveling but little do they know it is much cheaper to be outside of the USA! read more

Save yourself stress, aggravation and possibly your pets life and do not go to Penfield Vet. My dog had xrays done on his heart. When I picked him up I was told he needed to come back for xrays in two weeks but wasn't told why. I asked them why only to be told by some lady at the desk that he had fluid on his heart. Why didn't the vet come out to the waiting room to tell us that himself, why is he passing off his job to an office person. I wasn't able to ask any questions or talk to the vet about anything. You pay over $300 for xrays but can't get a vet to tell you anything about what was done, what they saw or what needs to be done going forward. When I called to get more information I was given an attitude by the vet like I was inconveniencing him by asking about my dog. Stay far away from Marissa as she has horrible customer service. She is condescending and not someone I want doing anything with my pets. read more

If you value your hard-earned money, and do not want to be taken advantage of, then I highly suggest you NEVER step foot in PENFIELD VETERINARY HOSPITAL!! I went there today to have three puppies examined, vaccinated, and dewormed. Penfield Veterinary Association is part of Monroe Veterinary Association and they are the only VET that does this.. They have now started charging almost $20 per puppy to administer dewormer!! Thats on top of the price you pay for the dewormer!! For three little puppies today..the dewormer was $10.. and they charged me $56.40 for them to administer it to them.. Put a little syringe and their mouth and push a plunger!! Are you freaking serious!! No other vet does this!! I was at this vet last month with pups and was not charged this ridiculous fee! To top it all off..then they did not even give them the right amount of dewormer!! I am beyond livid and these vets are not to be trusted!! They are just about the money! They disgust me! read more

We have been bringing our dogs here for over 20 years. the physicians are very professional, know everything and are mindful of the costs of services. Dr. Thornton is fantastic. She explained her reasoning for performing certain tests and what her thinking behind the diagnoses are. She reviewed several treatment options with us and made recommendations that were best for out dog and reasonable for us! We will continue to bring our pets here. read more

I usually see Dr. Braaten, but I have seen the other doctors, and they are all professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I can say the same for the office staff and the techs. I have been bringing my pets to Penfield Vet Hospital for 12 years-as long as I have lived here- the personnel is wonderful. Always friendly, always helpful. But the reason I'm calling is because my sister's box had an accident and was severely injured. She couldn't get in to her vet, so she called me. I called Penfield Vet Hospital and they were so helpful! Bronson had an appointment within 30 minutes. He was there for a couple of hours-completely taken care of! Thank you guys so much! Penfield Veterinary Hospital is wonderful! We take our Pepper there....16 yrs old & a few issues related to age, but Dr. Braaton & Dr. Mueller are absolutely wonderful! I'm sure Dr. Herrema & Dr. Hawkins are, as well, but we have so far only seen Dr. Braaton & Dr. Mueller. Our little Pepper can be so frightened of certain surroundings & people, but she loves them. Pepper goes there for her baths & nail clippings, as well, & that staff is also awesome! We are so very pleased with everything about Penfield Veterinary Hospital, & highly recommend them to all! My dog has been going to this vet for about a year, and our last visit was not plesent. My dog has a bit of anxiety around other dogs and she lets them know it by barking. I walk in the door and my dog immediately starts barking. I sign her in and the lady at the front desk asks me to wait outside. I comply not wanting to get the other dogs upset. About 15 min. After my appt was suppose to have started I am still waiting outside because they stated they would have a room ready for me. I go back inside ask them if there is a room and the lady at the front desk. Annoyingly gets up and states "yup, here ya go" and opens up a room. You work at a vet office you should be use to the barking number one, and sorry I made you have to get up out of your chair and do your job. So frustrated, not asking for special treatment just less huffing and puffing and rolling your eyes at me if my dog is feeling scared and the only way to express herself is by barking. read more
