It was definitely busy, but it never felt overly crowded, which made it easy to take my time and actually read about and enjoy all the different critters. We purchased our tickets online and used a promo code that saved us a few bucks. Our total ended up being $62.90 for two people, which I thought was pretty reasonable for the experience and the support it goes toward. There were lots of interactive activities for kids, but I honestly had just as much fun learning about everything myself! The animals appeared very well cared for, and I loved the touch pools. The animals would occasionally take breaks from interacting, which I appreciated because it felt like they were being given plenty of space and rest. The staff were also great! We learned so much from the workers throughout the aquarium. Rosy the rosy boa was especially fun to learn about, and I loved seeing the loggerhead sea turtle with a 3D-printed back brace and the octopus recovering from a leg injury. Seeing the care that goes into these animals made the experience even more meaningful. Parking was easy and free, which is always a huge plus. There's also a cute gift shop with some really nice, quality items. It is definitely on the pricier side, but there were plenty of things I liked. Overall, I absolutely loved getting to see these animals up close and learning about them. Such a fun and educational afternoon, and I would definitely come back in the future!

Otherwise, you'll be paying around $40 per person, unless you have an EBT card, which brings admission down to only $3 per person. There are about two sections of aquatic animals to explore. There is a penguin section, a small shark section, and a variety of other marine creatures. There is also an outdoor section with a nice view of the ocean in San Diego, which makes for some great photo opportunities. I've been to many aquariums, and I felt slightly underwhelmed by this one, mostly because of the price. Other than that, it's still a pretty nice spot to check out at least once. Parking: Plenty of parking, and it's free!

I haven't been to the San Diego Zoo since I was a little kid, so coming back about 25 years later…read morewas such a cool experience. A lot has changed, but at the same time, so much of what I remembered was still there! I brought my DSLR with me specifically hoping to get some great pictures, and the zoo definitely delivered. First things first: be prepared to WALK. This zoo is massive! I highly recommend starting with the guided bus tour if you want to get a good overview of the park before exploring on foot. The roughly 45-minute ride takes you past a huge portion of the zoo and mixes in fun trivia, history, and information about the different exhibits. I actually learned about the full-service restaurant up in the treetops from taking the tour first! Afterward, I spent several hours walking around and taking pictures. I was really impressed by how active so many of the animals were, and everything appeared to be very well cared for. Compared to some other zoos I've visited where there wasn't much happening, there was plenty to see here. I ended up getting some really cool shots of several different animals. There's also no shortage of places to grab a snack, sit down for a meal, or do some shopping throughout the park. I even managed to snag a really cute sweatshirt for 50% off! My only disappointment was that the pandas weren't out during my visit. Obviously, that was completely out of anyone's control, but I was still a little sad because the pandas were 8-year-old me's favorite part of this zoo! All in all, I had a great time coming back as an adult. It was equal parts nostalgic and completely new, and I'm glad I finally returned. Hopefully it won't be another 25+ years before my next visit!

15 stars for the SeaWorld staff!…read more My uncle ended up getting sick during our visit, and although he was being VERY stubborn about accepting help , the staff were absolutely incredible. A huge thank you to Julie with Safety, Health Services Department Will, and Kala. They were so patient, kind, attentive, and genuinely caring throughout the entire situation. They never made us feel rushed or like we were an inconvenience and went above and beyond to make sure my uncle was okay. It's one thing to provide good customer service, but the compassion these three showed when someone wasn't feeling well really stood out. SeaWorld is lucky to have employees like them. Even with a massive crowd and vendors everywhere, it never felt overwhelmingly packed. You could grab a drink, wander through an exhibit, find something to eat, take photos, meet other Yelpers, and somehow keep discovering entirely new sections of the event. Yelp's Art After Dark at The New Children's Museum was easily one of the coolest Yelp events I've attended. Taking over an entire museum for a 21+ night of food, drinks, art, music, and local businesses was already a great idea, the execution made it even better. And there was A LOT to try. Bitchin' Sauce, Boochcraft, Chuy's Taco Shop, Rock N' Roost, Balsamico Italian Kitchen, Gaby's Munchies, Jackalope, Origins Tea, Coqueto Café, Antojitos Express Bar, Emerald Spear Tequila, Pali Wine Co., Melograno, 19th Hole Spirits, Old Hillside Bourbon Company and plenty more showed up with food, desserts, coffee, tea, cocktails, wine, and spirits. Going in hungry was definitely the correct tactical decision. What made the night especially fun was that it wasn't just another tasting event. Between the artwork, interactive experiences, entertainment, photo opportunities, and museum itself, there was constantly something happening or somewhere new to explore. Even better, the night supported The New Children's Museum, with suggested donations helping provide programs and opportunities that make the museum more accessible to San Diego families. Yelp San Diego absolutely crushed this one!

One ship was away on a sail in the afternoon this past Saturday, but there was more than enough to explore on the various vessels during our visit. Plenty to see and experience on each of the boats. We stepped onto the swift boat where staff educated us about its machine gun. And we walked through and checked out the different sections of the USS Dolphin submarine too. The HMS Surprise was a lovely ship with plenty of references to its use in films. The Star of India was like a museum all on its own, so many areas to explore and a ton of history to learn. The Californian was pretty basic, not very different from many other ships we've visited in the past. Steam Ferry Berkeley was the largest, with displays showcasing scientific instruments, model boats, artwork, the riverboats in Vietnam, the engine room, a torpedo caught by a fisherman, and a special exhibit featuring the "histories of the black pacific". There's a gift shop on site as well. Altogether, the variety of ships at the Maritime Museum made for an interesting adventure, a bit touristy, but worth the cost if you're into history or simply like boats.

The ticket also got you access to the other ships to walk around which was cool. But the coolest part was that San Salvador was sailed like they would have sailed it waaay back when. We got to see real rigging masts sails steering all being done by a crew and it was a totally amazing experience and such a perfect day. Bonus: we saw dolphins and it was a perfect day. Drawback: the gentlemen speaking throughout didn't talk into his mic often so missed a lot but oh well - who's really going for history?! such a good time!!. 2. I had a good with my tickets and called and tried to talk to folks in person and could never get someone. The tickets were cancelled but not refunded which was a bummer and staff in the kiosk even said they phone lines were messed up. A bummer. :(
