Beware. My experience with Cyndi makes me question if dogs are safe under her care. She "watched" my dog for a few weeks with "almost overnight visits". Several times she either shortened her stay to a mere 1/2 hour a day (I have cameras and can confirm). Once, my dog got trapped in the kitchen (beyond the gate) and when I called she first asked that I verify that dog was still trapped, and after showing her the photo of my dog howling and scratching at the door, she asked if I had a friend or neighbor who could help because she was fixing dinner for her boys (she only lives 15 minutes away!) And then said she would go in a half hour. When I returned home and she left my house key under the doormat after I gave her access to a lock box and said she could leave it on the counter. She is unorganized and unprofessional-beware! read more

We used Peninsula Critter Care last month while hubby and I went away to Jamaica for Christmas and were happy with the care my 2 kitties received. The one thing I wasn't too impressed with was the management. While in the process of sorting care for our kitties the lady who was replying to our emails didn't seem very organized at all. My husband spoke to the lady on the phone and was told we would be emailed paperwork to fill out - we didn't receive it and had to call back a couple of days later to find out where it was. We were then told that the lady looking after our kitties would come round on the 14th Dec (just 2 days before we left) just to meet us and our kitties and run through any special needs ect. Only after sitting in waiting and her being 4 hours late we called her directly to see what was going on only to find the manager (?) had not told her she needed to come. She was very nice and apologetic though and arranged to come round the following day. She was nice and friendly in person too and we went on vacay happy in the knowing our kitties would be looked after. We didn't have WiFi where we were so I couldn't check or send any emails to see how things were going but I wasn't worried. On our return as we landed back on US soil my husbands phone beeped like crazy with emails and it was nice to see that we had been sent regular updates on how our kitties were doing which is good to know for future use of the company. Oh.. I also found it quite amusing that every email one of my kitties names was wrong despite it being written on the paperwork we handed over. I wonder if the carer called my kitty by this while she was visiting...?... read more

I have been making the mistake of boarding my cat Eli for far too long before I discovered Cyndi and crew. Not only is boarding your animal really expensive, Eli would always come up completely stressed and took hours to relax back at home. Now that I have found PCC, I will never take him anywhere else because while I'm gone I can rest assured knowing he is getting the best care in the safety and comfort of our home. From the beginning, Cyndi was very responsive and scheduled a quick introduction before our trip to meet Eli. She was very thorough, had many forms to complete with any information she could possible need while I'm gone, and I felt SO comfortable leaving him in her care. Bara took care of Eli while we were gone, and she was so sweet in sending email updates with photos and videos. We moved to San Mateo in April and were anxious to find a some help with our boys (Cooper the Weimaraner and Louis the Old English Bulldog). We used Peninsula Critter Care and were not entirely satisfied. Confusion on the part of the sitter regarding the days we agreed on even though it had been communicated clearly both verbally and via email. It's disconcerting while on your trip to be asked by the sitter if she is supposed to make a visit. What if we hadn't had cellular service, would our pet have been left unfed? Visits were not made at consistent times of day (we have security that logs such info), though consistency was specifically requested. Returned home to signs of obvious disorder making us wonder how well our pet had been cared for. Thankfully we tried this sitter for only a short trip so that we were able to use a different sitter for a recent 3 week trip. (Note: I edited the above review after receiving an in-message from someone asking me on behalf of Peninsula Critter Care to delete my review. However, choosing someone to come into your home is such an important decision, that I feel prospective customers should be able to read both good (of which PCC has many) and poor experiences. I recently moved to San Mateo, CA and i brought my German Shepherd, I was worried to leave her at a dog care place, as I wanted my dog to feel comfortable at home while I traveled. I located Cyndi at Peninsula Critter Care and it was by far the best choice i could make for my dog. Cyndi took pictures when she took the dog for walks in the morning and afternoon. To start off, Cyndi was very professional and immediately made me feel at ease. I had tons of questions and she gladly answered them all for me and was very patient with this very picky pet owner. We set a time for her to come and meet my "kids". They all actually took to her right away and this is no small feat for one of my dogs or my cats. She got right down on the floor, did a few belly rubs and head scratches and one over the crowd quickly!!! She took the time to ask me lots of questions about my pets, there routine, feeding times, toys they like, how my dog behaves out on walks, and many other questions that I cannot think of at the moment. She even asked me if I wanted to get daily text messages and pictures of how my pets were doing.......WOW...how cool is that? Bottom line, I went on my trip, got my daily text messages and even a picture or two. When I got home, I can tell my pets were happy and content. The treats that were left were almost gone. There was tons of hair in the dog and cat brush, the food and water bowls were very clean and since my pets drink bottled spring water, I could tell she refreshed it daily as the bottle was really low when I got back. My neighbors had even mentioned that they had seen her come by a few times and it was the exact time of day that she would promise she would be there, and they said that she speant quite a bit of time there. We chose Cyndi because of her excellent reviews so I feel like it's fair to share our less positive experience. We adopted our pet just about 9 months ago after she was abandoned as an adult cat, and ever since then she has been suffering from separation anxiety. For this reason on our first long trip we wanted to hire a professional to ensure the best care possible for our Tinky. We told Cyndi about it and about the fact that the night before we left we had to take her to the emergency vet clinic because of a mouth problem. Cyndi promised us to monitor her closely and to spend 20 of the 30 minutes each visit just petting her. Upon our return we noticed that Tinky was in a state of distress for several days, so we decided to check the building cameras and unfortunately found out that she was being visited only 10 to 15 minutes each time. By volounteering at the SF SPCA I learned how important those extra 15 minutes really are for a cat who feels lonely/abandoned. I'm sure cat lovers like us understand our frustration and great disappointment. After complaining to Cyndi, we did receive a full refund and an apology. read more

Cyndi has been great! My schedule is hectic and constantly changing, and I haven't been the best at giving her extended notice for walking my golden retriever, Molly...but she still has made time in her schedule to walk Molly every day I needed it. I'm only in San Bruno for the summer, but Cyndi's services have been a huge help. She's also been great while Molly had to wear a cone (to prevent her from licking her paw), taking it off for walks and putting it back on before leaving.
