Maybe other pet parents around here haven't felt the bite of inflation, but we have! All this was not doable, or even reasonable since we already have a vet, but most of all I was sad for my cat.

He listened to my dog's history, understood my thinking, told me it made sense, and told me he understood the pathway I wanted to take. For once, I wasn't automatically crazy or a "helicopter" pup parent. He really gets it. Dr. Richter had a very reasonable grasp on my dog's history and the reasons for his issues. I am so looking forward to continuing treatment with him in the coming months, focusing on the gut and on my dog's past mold exposure. I can't say enough about what it means to be truly heard and understood by a vet, and have them speak to you on a well-informed level. Dr. Richter is not only brilliant, he also has excellent people skills. Most vets try to talk down to me or put me in my place when I come with as much info as I do, and that gets me nowhere, just burning my bank account and morale. There is no need to pay for expensive dental cleaning for your pet. Unless there is a need for extracting a tooth why would we place our precious pet under anesthesia? The whole process was less than 30 minutes and cost only $268. The icing on the cake was the written chart (with graphic of his teeth) that identified specific areas to focus on with follow-up care instructions that was provided to us. Top notch care!

I was told his back was "a train wreck" and he'd likely need spinal surgery, I instead opted to give Petlight a try first. Best decision ever! He recovered fully after about 10 sessions. Fast forward this month, 7 years later, when he had another IVDD episode and couldn't stand or walk well. I brought him right back to PetLight! The staff is very kind and it's evident that they truly care about the pets who are lucky enough to be patients! Suzie (who is beyond sweet) remembered us... 7 years later! Dr. Cecile Greenleaf is now overseeing patient care and is very attentive and goes the extra mile to assess and care for my dog. On one visit for light therapy, she noticed his breathing was off and he wasn't getting air in one lung. Upon this observance, an emergency visit showed he had aspiration pneumonia, which I wouldn't have known if not for Dr. Greennleaf! Upon our next visit to Petlight, she had a nebulizer ready with healing essential oils especially for Oliver to help his breathing. More key points I learned: (6) 50-60°F Cold compresses for 2 minutes, then (5) 105°F hot for 2 minutes. Start with cold & end with cold. This gets the blood moving in & out of the area. Warmth is inflammatory, that's why you need to start & end with cold. I bought a bunch of microwavable heat/cold pads. I would put the hot pads in a pot of hot water while using the cold pads to heat them back up. Make sure the urine stays clean looking (bladder emptied 2 or 3 times a day & antibiotics if an infection develops), the skin & genitals get cleaned & dried well to or not get a skin infection. Females - don't cross-contaminate by bringing feces bacteria to the genitals. Infection = sepsis Products I found helpful: cat waterless shampoo, A+D diaper rash ointment & skin protectant (vet recommended because no toxic zinc in it) , & Honey Pot anti-itch wipes.

Her name is Fur Elise but my son calls her "Fur Obese". The vet came with a truckload of vet stuff; he spent a good half hour with me before coming in to the house, talking about the cat issues and giving her a pill sedative so that he could examine her. He managed to corral her safely, wrap her in a cat blanket with a secure closure, and gave her an exam. He prescribed her some medications and gave me advice on feeding portions and types of cat food to consider. Very grateful for his thorough discussion with me. My cat is fine now, no longer vomitting, and has lost a little blubber.

I started bringing my dog here to address his luxating patella. We came up with a plan to start shockwave therapy and water treadmill therapy and supplements. We've had two appointments out of the five of the package we purchased. He's much more comfortable with all the staff and treatments now. The first two shockwave treatments are done with the doctors to assess and develop a treatment plan, and the following treatments are done with a certified therapist. Everyone has been so kind to my dog that he loves coming here. And not just for the human grade cheese he's given to do the exercises!! We were also given a comprehensive List of physical therapy movements and stretches to do at home. It's too soon to tell if the treatment is working well, but we have high hopes with this clinic! It takes us about 3 hours of traffic to get to and from this clinic, but it's such a gem. They provide towels and blowdryers and snacks for the water treadmill work. We opted to not try the injection as my dog is scared of shots, who isn't really?! The doctor was so kind to provide us with a another supplement option, which we have started. They check in to see how he's doing at the start of every appointment and tailor the session to his needs. We opted to not go through insurance, but they can help out with paperwork if you do so. Our vet referred us to Connie and AquaDog Canine Swim Therapy. Connie saw Dragon 1-2x/week for the last 6 months of his life. He loved swimming so much and looked forward to his sessions in the pool with Connie. We worked on keeping him as healthy and fit as possible given his condition, and Connie's sessions definitely helped. Connie is extremely knowledgeable and gave us plenty of advice and recommendations. She is very responsive to text and really does love your dogs as her own.
