What a great place!…read more A friend and I stopped in to rent bikes, and immediately felt akin to the owner, Erin. She has a great shop and well-maintained bicycles. We ended up touring all over Vashon. Even if you don't want to ride, stop in and say hello. And if you do want to ride, the shop will pick you up and drop you off at the Ferry! I really liked that they had time reservations because it was not crowded at all! Sometimes everyone is busy doing other things that you get the whole area to yourself. The petting farm was so fun! All of the animals looked really loved and cared for. Plus they were really friendly. Also the place did not stink and was well tended! I commend them for that! The play area was cute, with a three separate buildings. The only thing is there wasn't much to do inside, hopefully they get more toys for the place. They had some bouncy ride ons and a little area to catch cows with ropes. They had a few face cut out pictures to take pics and a decorated truck to take pics. Hopefully they'll be more in the future for cute pictures. Tractor ride was exciting for the kids. $5 a barrel for a child and adult. Be aware they paved a nice path but it was still fairly bumpy. Pumpkins were set out nicely, not really what I expected for a pumpkin patch but really nice. Not much snacks to buy. Possibly in the future it would be nice with a small area for the hangry little kids. There was a 90 min end time, which didn't bother me since it was pleasant and no overcrowding. The course was great because I had some of the best instructors I've ever experienced. Ed & Danetta were extremely helpful. I felt like I was being taught by good friends more than they were "instructors". I've been scuba diving before this class but they still taught me extremely useful skills in the pool and open water. They did a great job keeping me and my buddy comfortable at all times and I never felt like I was in any danger at any point of the class (even though you must take your mask off at 25 feet in the cold water!!). I would definitely recommend the open water course with Ed & Danetta to any of my friends. I feel very fortunate to have found Underwater Sports in Federal Way. I have been snorkeling for…read moredecades and wanted to get SCUBA certified for a very long time. With an upcoming trip to Baja Sur, I decided this was the time and was initially looking at outfits in Mexico when I just so happened to check local prices here in the PNW. I was surprised to find that Underwater Sports offered the most affordable PADI certification I had seen, half the cost of some dive companies in Baja. When I went to check out the shop, I was immediately impressed with the staff, who were all friendly, knowledgeable, & passionate about diving. It felt right, so I booked the Open Water Diver course. This proved to be a very good decision as our instructor, Jaiden, and her assisting Dive Masters (Frank & Jason) were all equally skilled, friendly, and engaging. I thoroughly enjoyed the course. It was professional but never stiff. I was confident that Jaiden and our Dive Masters always knew what they were doing and had our safety as their top priority, but they also were very relatable and easy to talk to. The experience was an entirely positive one, from beginning to end, and while I was already certain that I would love diving, I am now equally certain that I have found a community that I will continue to share that love with. I highly recommend Underwater Sports in Federal Way for anyone interested in crossing over to the other side of the water's surface. It's a beautiful world down there & you couldn't do much better than having the Fed Way crew introduce you to it.
