I popped into Penn Station about a week ago after seeing some enticing ads for $7.99 sub/fries combos. I used to LOVE their food, and the price was right! The normal/old system of ordering at one register and paying at another was not used. You had to order and pay at the far end, which is away from where the big menus are. There was a small menu attached to the counter. There was no signage to show what the specials were, which was very confusing. I got 2 chicken parm specials, one without the marinara. They were both pretty good. I'm not sure what type of chicken they are using now, but it was still good. It did not have the diced chicken look one is normally used to. They seemed generous with the chicken. The restaurant was clean, and the food was good. The lemonade machine is behind the counter because their lemonade is the better kind. I would have given this 5 stars, but between the awkward ordering sitch and the lack of signage about the specials, I had to give them a ding. The saving grace was the guy behind the counter knew about them. Hopefully this place is a lot more consistent than the bad reviews would have you believe. The food was solid! read more

Walked in at 6:40pm ona Friday evening...Half the tables were blocked off and. Sat at a table by the restroom and was told that section of the room was closed too. Had to move to a booth, no tables with chairs available in the "open" area of the dining room g room. Men's restroom had no paper towels so had to use a napkin, but the trash cans in the dining room were turned around and apparently "closed" too. A few years ago, I would have given them 5-stars, but the last couple of years has seen the quality diminish. I have had Philly cheesesteaks in Philly and honestly thought the Penn Station version was quite good. The last time I had it, it was so salty it was almost inedible. They used to have two locations, but the downtown location closed leaving only the west-side location. If the staff would take pride in their work, this would be one of the best sandwich shops in Bloomington, but something is off with the staff as of late. They need a leader who emphasizes quality control. Their fries are pretty good, as is their lemonade. Prices aren't bad for what you get. The interior is basic, but clean. read more

This is the worse place to grab food for lunch. #1. I placed a order online, 1st mistake. If you only eat Chicken Philly's from Penn Station the online menu isn't updated for that option. They also forgot to add green bell peppers as a option to add to a sandwich online. But i still wanted the chicken philly so I placed a cheesesteak order & removed the meat from the online order. After placing the order I called & told them to make sure chicken & bell peppers were on my sandwich. #2. When I arrived to the location 30 mins after my order was placed; the convenience of ordering online was not at all convenient. The employee handed me my receipts(btw I was picking up my co-workers meal too & she ordered a meal &drink) but they never handed me a cup for the drink. Then I waited & waited & waited; I had to go back to the employee to ask for the cup & the status of my order. He informed me that they were waiting on fresh fries but when he prepared my order he forgot one of the fries from the order . Online ordering is a disaster & the organization to prepare a online is horrible too. My sandwich was cold, dry & without the bell peppers I requested on the phone call; online does tell you to arrive 30min after the order was place. I would of been better off walking into that location & placing my order in person. But since I'm on a time limit online orders work for me but never at this location again. read more

We went here on a Friday around 12 and it was packed. We waited about 15 minutes to order. Once we finally got up to the ordering section I asked the woman taking our order if I could use a coupon I had and she replied "yeah, hurry". So we started ordering and could not understand her, she was just mumbling and was being so rude when we asked her to repeat herself. We ordered two sandwiches and two small fries. Once we got to the register to pay he asked what was in our order and then just walked away. Never told us how much it was or anything. He just turned around and started making someone else's sandwich. When he finished making the sandwich he gave us our receipt. We sat down and waited about 5-10 minutes for our food. Mine came with fries, my boyfriends did not. So I took the receipt back up to the register and I told them my receipt didn't have 2 fries on it but we ordered 2 small fries. The only nice worker was helping us and was handing us the fries when the man at the register came up and ripped the receipt out of my hand and said we didn't pay for 2 fries. Come on Penn Station I can go to Texas Roadhouse and get a 8 oz sirloin steak, bake potato and a salad for $12.09 that's $1.30 cheaper than your foot long sub.
