Irene set me up with a secluded cabin right on the creek and went the extra mile making my time there enjoyable - like opening the restaurant after hours and cooking me dinner when I was hungry but forgot the restaurant hours! The place has something for everyone - single fishermen like me who wanted to get away, all kinds of family activities like a very nice pool, a restaurant at the pool's edge, and a game room with a TV. Then you have to traverse a mile plus long winding dirt/stone road that is barely wide enough to pass another vechicle and potholes everywhere on the route with some a foot or more deep. Upon entering the campground I thought I was entering a junk yard. Many of the campers looked like they hadn't moved in years and the sites were pitiful. Very little space between them and poorly maintained, minimal grass with weeds everywhere. Outbuildings looked to be in need of maintenance also. From what I could see the pool may have been fine. I was stopped by whom I guess was one of the owners "Irene" and told I needed to sign in. I was directed to another women in a room that was the restaurant (looked a little dirty) and given a form to sign for bringing a dog. They didn't have a new one so I was told to sign the back of one somebody else signed. Then I was given another 2 page form to answer several questions of personal information. I signed the firm acknowledging their rules and provided my phone number. I told this women I would not provide the other information to visit a campground for an hour or less She didn't make a fuss . I exited and "Irene" was waiting to have me follow her in her golf cart to my relatives site. The drive was "sad" as the condition of this campground is really rundown. Fortunately the section where my relative was located was better than most. My guide departed and we sat down to talk. A few minutes later "Irene" burst onto the site claiming the paper I signed was not my signature and demanded I completely fill out her papers. It was my signature. She claimed it was the law! I refused and was told to leave the campground which after giving her my opinion on the condition of her campground and her ridiculous "laws", I did. I would not recommend this campground or management.

I took my kids ages 4 and 5 and they had a great time. The cave maintains a constant cool temperature, which was a welcome change from the summer heat.

It was nice to sit outside with the leaves falling. This was special to me as I live in Florida and do not have the privileges of seeing falling leaves. Jamie the owner was very pleasant, informative. I tried calling for two days to make reservations, left messages she did return my call. Jamie is running the campground during the week by herself, said she was working outside and apologized for not answering the phone. Don't let this deter you, I am sure you would be very please!! Just another little note very much into recycling. Cans, plastic bags etc. they have big bins for them. KEEP AMERICA CLEAN

Plenty to see and do in rural central PA. Convent to many state parks, streams, and caves. Lots of great local eateries and creameries nearby. Careful of the buggies. Campground and Roads are well kept, with many long-term sites. Friendly campers this place is beyond quiet. I couldn't see any lights close by after 9pm. Campground water with grey and black water facilities. Bring bug spray. Haha.

Absolutely beautiful campground, Rudy was super nice and helpful and the cabin was quite a bit bigger than we had expected based on the pictures. The cabin itself was very basic, and firewood was provided for the wood burner. We were actually HOT one night and cracked the window, no worries about not being warm enough. The shower could use a little updating and there was a note that said sometimes the pilot light goes out and there might not be hot water and if that happened to find the owner and they would help. Luckily it worked, but it could use something other than a pallet to stand on ;) Look, it's not the holiday inn, but I would prefer a rustic cabin on beautiful land over a boring sterile hotel room any day!!

The main attractions, though, are easy access to the gorgeous Juniata River, the beautiful dark night sky and the trains. This is a perfect place for a family reunion, or a church youth or scout troop. The icing on this very sweet spot was the fire circle surrounded by swings, with twinkle lights overhead.
