This is a place to avoid recently has gone down hill .. was in there today my heritage includes American Indian as this lady referred to my son as a miss I corrected her she then ignored us we wore all ready sitting there for 30 mins before a drink and able to order food .. I waited another 15 mins to speak to a manager about waitress and wanting a new one and her to apologize to my teen son .. she did not even pit our food order in . Now a hour passed my good came out wrong. Had sent back second time came out wrong but this point no longer cared as the hostess came with check she was little rude after all we as a family wore little upset at this point so happen to be little rude back and she told us not to come back ok I grew up n lived in that town went to this diner for ever 30 years going there well not any more service sucks. I called and ordered a Cream of potato soup, I don't eat bacon, I asked the person taking order to confirm it didn't have bacon, he said it didn't, I got home and it had bacon in, I wouldn't be back. Wasted money. read more

I love simple diner food and usually it''s pretty safe but I've been very disappointed ever time I have visited. I understand when it's super slow that the employees will hang out and talk- I would do the same- but here they will completely ignore you. If you actually get up to ask for a drink refill for instance you will be given the death stare and half a huff for making them work. One night I was there with 2 friends and there were only 3 or 4 other tables and it still took us half an hour to get out drinks and an hour to get our food. The waitress stood behind the counter and spent a good portion of the time in the doorway to the kitchen. I really wish we would have just walked out. And the food... you're better off just making it at home, it will taste so much better. It's is incredibly bland and tasteless. Late night, not completely dead but no where near busy. We order drinks from a waitress that already seems confused by "three waters and a coffee". When she comes back to take our order, it's apparent she does not speak or understand English well, and does not ask what I want. She asks the two friends I'm sitting with, who in no way implied we'd be sharing, she just didn't ask me, I had to raise my voice as she walked away from the table.."EXCUSE ME..you didn't get my order". All the staff there seems incapable of simple things. -French onion soup took ~15 minutes to get to our table, cheese on top was burnt but soup was lukewarm. Did not want it. -Meals did not come out at the same time, or anywhere near the same time, about 5, 10 minutes between each entree. Small portions, large prices. -Offered refills ONCE, when we asked for the check. -Bland food, none of which came to our table anywhere near hot. -We were not the only table grumbling, people seated in front of us had the same experience. Only positive is we all laughed about it. -No reason was given for the crap service, and the waitresses seemed to be completely against the idea of helping each other. If you like slow, sloppy service, ill prepared (and overpriced!) food, you'll love the Pennsburg Diner. read more

The diner has a great breakfast menu. I'm not the biggest lunch or dinner fan, but for me that is the case for most diners. The fact that they are open late makes it a nice stop after a night out. read more

Seem to come here everytime I visit my friend who lives 2 blocks away. There isn't much around the area, so we always end up coming here. The staff are always friendly and on top of all the orders. The food is meh', but the prices are reasonable and the service is fast. read more

First of all my review is NOT to brag on this Restaurant but a honest opinion. We have lived in Red Hill Pa. for a year now. We go to the Diner about once a week. Yes their are some items we did not like, but all in all the place is Great. Being a previous owner of a Drive In Restaurant we know how important it is the have a dedicated clientele. Pennsburg Diner has that and I and my family are one of them. The Salad Bar is a plus for us, getting a "ONE TRIP" as a vegetable SUBSTITUTE, with your dinner is GREAT! Love getting a "bowl" of the SOUP OF THE DAY, it's great. Especially the Beef Bullion. The service is great and very friendly, staff go out of their way to please. The DAILY menu is extensive & yes it is changed from day to day with special pricing. Senior menu is also a treat, and getting a dish of ice-cream WITH SOME OF THE MEALS is GREAT also! Pork Chops are not up to our standers but you can't have everything. And I expected more of the Spaghetti, but sense the Wife is a great cook & Spaghetti is one of the family's favorite meals. I love this dinner because of the feeling it gives. I love how everything is laid out. I always sit in the middle room. (They have so much sitting space.). I always order the same thing, nachos which are delicious. I think everyone is super friendly I say my one problem is that they close the salad bar fairly early. To me it's early? I don't know the exact time. But usually after work I go there and the salad bar is closed which is disappointing but I understand since I get off work late. read more

I honestly have found the food to be better than the two stars that are advertised here but I do think customers should be warned that this restaurant practices fraud in their pricing on the menu. I ordered pancakes with sausage (6.89) and was told it would be extra to add blueberries. They added five dollars to my order for the blueberries (price not listed anywhere on the menu) and when I mentioned this they would not back down except to take fifty cents off the order. Just be warned you may be charged exorbitant prices that are not on the menu. If you want blueberries, an entire pint is 2.50 across the street at weis as opposed to nine dollars here. For a good breakfast with prices on the menu check on the valley cafe down the street! The food is better too. read more

I really haven't had anything here that I didn't really care for. I think the food is good, the service could be better but I won't complain. I dropped my crab cake while packing it to go and the waitress ordered me up a new one to replace at no cost even though it was 100% my fault. I love this place since John handed over to his ex wife, the food is better, the staff is nicer and it's clean. I love to come here to relax with my kids. This is my favorite place to eat in the valley for the price. read more

Been here a fair amount of times and usually I don't have a problem (except the one time when the hostess apparently didn't know the difference between a table and a booth), but I went last night with my family and the waitress had a bug up her azz. She must've been having a bad night but it had nothing to do with us, so I just wish they (all servers) would remember that. You can't take it out on your current table because someone else earlier ruined your night. I go out to eat once a month and I would like to have a good time. Mediocre food, I can deal with. I used to find Pennsburg Diner a decent option in the restaurant dessert that is Upper Perk. It's gone downhill and after our last visit on a Sunday afternoon, we won't be back anytime soon. Food is meh and while our waitress was pleasant, we waited 45 minutes in a non-busy restaurant for our food, with 2 hungry toddlers in tow. My son's hot dog was gross (I know, most are). Not something that should be served in a restaurant. I ordered something that had a picture on the menu (Chicken Americano) and what came out was unrecognizable. If I were them, I wouldn't show pictures if what comes out looks nothing like the picture. I think the upside is that they are open 24 hours. read more

We have been to this diner a few times, we always pay and leave a good tip without any complaints. The food is OK but the attitude of the owner's wife is a real problem. She is rude and downright unfriendly. Her problem - even if you pay for the salad bar she watches everything you put on your plate and gives you dirty looks throughout your meal. They say on the menu that you can make one trip to the salad bar (which I did). Apparently she is under the assumption that the salad bar is coming out of her pocket and the patrons are thieves??? Lady if you don't want to have a salad bar, shut it down and give people pre made salads with their meals!!! When I asked to take out a large container of soup, they charged me $14.95!!! As another reviewer commented, if the price is not on the menu you will get ripped off! The service is quite spotty and there seem to be a lot of reluctant waitresses there also. First time here and wouldn't be Back. The food was horrible and he waiter was pushy. Mashed potatoes tasted like Instant potatoes, the roast beef tasted like lunch meat with gravy on top, the rice was over cooked. Soup was the only thing that actually tasted good and it wasn't filled all the way. I'll spend the extra driving time and go to Quakertown dinner instead. read more

Not great. We go here sometimes for breakfast or dinner, Worst coffee EVER!. I can't believe that other reviews stated they have good coffee! If you like your coffee to taste like an ashtray, then yes, they have good coffee. Food is mediocre but it's reasonably priced so you get what you pay for. read more

The Ruben is pretty good. I get it every time I go there and my daughter gets her kid stuff. It's diner food which definitely isn't a problem. Obviously if you don't want diner food don't go. Sub-par food at too high prices. They do not know how to cook chicken, ever, in any style. Breakfast is about average, but little high on price. Ownership is rude, beyond rude. I highly recommend the salad bar! My brother took us here for my birthday meal. Everyone enjoyed their meal. My crab cakes were better than average. My 10 year old enjoyed his cheesesteak (and we frequent well known cheesesteak establishments in Philadelphia, so he knows a good steak). Our waitress was nice and attentive. I am a regular here, I do not expect "fine dining" it is a diner, but a good one. It reminds me of the diners I went to back home in NJ and Staten Island. The food is good, service is great, and it is close to home. I like the breakfasts, but also the burgers and some of the specials. They also make good chili and Gyro's. The only suggestion would be to put romaine lettuce in the salad bar and not as much iceberg. read more

My chicken and dumpling soup was really chicken noodle soup, the salad dressing had no taste, and my ravioli's and meatballs were horrible. You could really tell that it was microwaved. My boyfriend had the salmon, $12 for frozen fish, wow. It was really dry and didn't really have flavor. I did feel the diner was nice and cozy but was kinda dark. Noise level was fine. OK let's get it out of the way, diners aren't the ideal place to have a dinner meal but let's face it sometimes you just want to dine out locally and diners have variety for everyone young and old. However; do not go for a dinner meal at this place. Service & meal were so-so. We took most of our food home due to the loud young people in the both behind us and the owner standing or sitting next to us the whole time. The place was basically empty but we were seated right next to the register. So after trying to have a relaxing meal everything was boxed up and brought home. The impatience of the waitress & owner as we browsed the enormous menu was annoying, its not like they were extraordinarily busy at 8pm but we felt rushed anyway. One good comment about this place is that breakfast is good. However; they could have more creamed chipped beef available for those stragglers that like a late breakfast at 11am. read more
