    Salad bar plate
    Kimberly D.

Nice staff, overall food was not great but not bad either. I looked at salad bar and although it looked fresh, not too big selection, so I didnt get that. I started w soup & salad (included w my meal), soup tastes like it was from a can & salad was saturated w dressing & had hard croutons from store bought bag. Then I had the cheese ravioli & meatballs w mozzarella, there was a little less sauce and more cheese than I like and the meatballs didn't taste homemade, but all was good overall. My husband had broiled combo, said it was good, he never complains. Got piece of cake to go, it is from a bakery in New York I was told, so hoping it's a s tasty as it looks, Boston Cream Pie. If more things were home made, I would've given 4 stars (ex. croutons and meatballs are easy to make and can really elevate the food).

Love the classic diner feel and this is one of those places! Had to drive through the area for an errand and stopped to grab a bite to eat. I got the grilled chicken panini, onion rings and fries. Service was great and they were very prompt with almost no wait time to be seated and served. Friendly staff and great atmosphere!

Good place to eat; however dont get there when the owner is opening as he unlocks the doors on his time even if he is already 1/2 hour late.

This historic location was a rest and play stop for literary and theater New Yorkers in the 20s and 30s and probably beyond -- check out the famous signatures and notes in the albums in the main living room. The owners keep a handful of rescued farm animals (pot-bellied pigs, mini ponies, goats), and it is clear they are well cared for. It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. It is wonderful to be back out again. We will return -- a lot.

The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.

'Country Kitchens' are never in the middle... They're either very good, or very bad. I'm happy to…read moresay that THIS country kitchen is outstanding. I was in Quakerstown to scout out the route the Big Boy steam engine will be taking from Philadelphia westward to Wyoming, and I asked Yelp for dinner recommendations. I decided to give Kathy's a try and was very glad I did. The place is small, with a small dining room with it's own entrance next to the storefront that sells the sweets (ice cream and milkshakes). The food was very good - I had a chili that was not bland nor too spicy, and had my first apple dumpling in over 30 years - it was outstanding - the pastry crust was just sweet enough. I'll definitely be back again.

Terrific across the board! It's funny how you end up at places sometimes. We chose Kathy's…read morespecifically for its location (halfway in between our house and a friend's), and that, other than the fact that they serve breakfast, was the only criterion. But what we got was breakfast awesomeness. It's small, with a cozy, "country" feel, as you might expect. Cute. Coffee was strong and plentiful, served in those great diner-style mugs that keep things piping hot for a good long time. Servers were totally on top of their game (the place was jumpin' so they really had to be) and all had that combination of "I'm super nice and glad you're here, but don't you dare slow me down" goodness. And the food? The food was fantastic! Each of the five people in our group got something different, and everyone was super happy with what they got, from cinnamon-raisin French toast with apple butter to a garden vegetable skillet to corned beef hash eggs Benedict. I went simple with a breakfast sandwich with a fluffy scrambled egg, thick-cut pork roll, and Cooper sharp on the lightest, airiest Kaiser roll I've ever had. And do no sleep on their thick cut bacon, which is meaty and delicious and coated in a buttery mapley goodness that tasted like Heaven. Things to note: they only take cash, and on the weekends, there's an hour limit (meaning you can't dawdle) so they don't have lines piling up outside. Breakfast for five of us was just under $80, so reasonably priced. We had a great time. And the next time we go, it'll be because it's just a great spot.

I was a customer at this restaurant for 30 years. …read more... Their food and their service has been declining for a while now, but "today"we nailed the pin in the coffin..... They will never see me again.... I just left there after having their triple play special, which is .....not very special. I sat 5-booths from the entrance. The employees and their VERY loudmouth female owner... We're all sitting in the 1st booth. The owner was so LOUD!!!!! We couldn't even have a conversation at the table. I said something to my waitress who told me that she she's Latin and loud. I'm Italian.... We invented loud. But we know "common courtesy" and basic manners in a restaurant. This owner has NONE!!!!! I couldn't WAIT to finish my breakfast and head out the door. On my way out, I heard the people behind me complaining that they have not been acknowledged at their booth. Completely ignored customers...... It was employee social hour and; Customers were intruding. I did complain to my waitress, who said that's how it rolls there and that I "would need to move to the back". Move to the back? Well, needless to say ... her commentary and lack of social awareness was reflected in her tip. ZERO!!!!! Watch out Compton's... You are not the only game in town anymore. There are plenty of places to go for breakfast and I would suggest whoever is reading this .... Go anywhere BUT Comptons!!!

I started with the scallops which were perfectly seared and cooked over a thoughtful bed of cucumbers and wasabi and sushi rice. It was an excellent appetizer and I might get the full entrée next time. The 12 ounce New York was one of the best steaks I've had in a year and I've had my share of steaks in the last year. Perfect medium, excellent sear, very good sourcing of product, and not drenched in butter like the posers do- I was a happy carnivore. The truffle fries were excellent, and the broccolini was perfectly al dente and seasoned. Emily, my server, was phenomenal. She was never up in my grill, but always there when I needed her. She made recommendations with some taste tests that were perfect for me. This quaint restaurant in a tiny town of Spinnerstown is an excellent compliment to the area and anyone near it should feel grateful to have it close... for me I'll likely make the drive again.
