    French toast and bacon
    Randy D.

Stopped in for dinner after a day of flying and increasing hunger. Pretty cool inside, like a 50s diner. Were seated quickly and looked over the large menu I ordered the pierogis for an appetizer settled on black diamond steak and eggs for dinner. My wife had the French toast with bacon. Pierogi were really good, stuffed with potato and cheese. Black diamond steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Eggs were cooked perfectly, always amazed how many places can't make a sunny side up egg. Was really good food French toast was really good as well. Wife loved it. We got 2 muffins and a slice of apple pie to go, as we were stuffed after dinner. Coffee was really good, much better than we expected. Muffins were awesome, and super large. Apple pie was yummy as well. Service was great and friendly.

Philly cheese steak (ground beef) wrap. Uh

If not for the great service, clean restrooms, and nice looking facilities my meal was a single star. Avoid the Philly Cheese steak wrap at all costs. As terrible in taste as is was unappealing on the plate I'd recommend it come off the menu immediately. It's ground beef in a terrible sauce on a smoking hot wrap (yet cool ground beef inside). It was inedible. If you have a shellfish allergy- everything is cooked with the shrimp - shrimp fries, yum.

Waitstaff was very good. The bathroom was clean. The menu has LOTs of choices. The food was bland but salt helped. Prices fair.

    Crab and asparagus breakfast casserole

Coming back from a trip to Jim Thorpe we totally forgot it was Easter, we had skipped breakfast and were hungry. We stopped at Jake's flea market thinking we could get something there but nothing tickled our fancy. Thankfully a vendor recommended the Americana . We arrived to them not only being open but also with no wait. You can't miss the place. The exterior is all glass and mirrors and has that vintage diner feel. An old turquoise Chevy sat out front - not sure if it was the owner's or another patron's but it's placement felt intentional. The inside was bright and clean and felt like it had Greek ties. The bathrooms appeared to be recently remodeled as the decor was more modern than the rest of the establishment and exceptionally clean. Probably one of the cleanest restaurant rest rooms I've been in. It was only around 11am and although they had some Easter specials they weren't serving them yet and we were presented with a breakfast menu. There were plenty of items to choose from, including several featuring crab. The crab/asparagus/egg breakfast casserole caught my eye and I inquired if they use real crab (IT WAS!). Our server had to confirm as she didn't know. I ordered that and hubby a meat lovers breakfast casserole. Both were in the $8.50 range and included hash-browns in the dish and toast. The wait for our food felt long but they were busy. Our waitress was very attentive and had a good sense of humor. She even went with the flow and engaged in my husband's comical antics and her laugh seemed genuine. We really liked her. Our dishes were served piping hot in a large crock. I loved mine, even the hollandaise sauce which I had them put to the side because normally I don't care for it. Hubby ate his with vigor than eyed up the bit I saved to take home. On our way out he got a piece of coffee cake (it was massive and only $2.70!) The hostess station seemed a little unorganized. Two hostesses rotated between seating and checking people out. One was definitely better at her job than the other, who didn't know prices and appeared to not know how to run the register. Her inabilities held up the line and myself and other patrons were getting frustrated in the process. Otherwise awesome food, good prices, and a wonderful server, one of the best.

Nice place to stop for a bite. Could be a little cleaner but it's not bad at all. Friendly faces and good food.

A sweet scene across the street from the Colebrookdale Rail, we sat outside and enjoyed the quiet view. My husband ordered an Iced Caramel Fluff Coffee and my being on a chai kick lately, tried their small hot variety. Drinks came out quickly considering the line of patrons ordering and most of the indoor seating full. We sat with our number at a table outside. The brisk air was delightful and even more delightful was the rest of our breakfast. My husband ordered an Everything Bagel Sandwich with Cheddar and Sausage. He enjoyed it, said it needed some spice or sauce though. I was delighted in my pick! An Everything Bagel with the lemon-dill cream cheese. This cream cheese should be sold on its own! I'd purchase (or would love to steal the recipe!). The cream cheese was more a like a dip in consistency. Smooth, flavorful and light. This was inspo for me to try to make later and put on bagels, sandwiches and crackers (still thinking about eating it, lololol). What a wonderful start to the weekend! A local gem in Brakeman's!!

This historic location was a rest and play stop for literary and theater New Yorkers in the 20s and 30s and probably beyond -- check out the famous signatures and notes in the albums in the main living room. The owners keep a handful of rescued farm animals (pot-bellied pigs, mini ponies, goats), and it is clear they are well cared for. It is a busy place for big wedding events now, and so we like to stay during the week. It is very relaxing to walk around the grounds. We saw a giant heron in the pond and deer strolling. There are so many nice places to sit outside with a bottle of wine and a book or snacks. Rooms are very unique and comfortable. You have a lot of different personalities to choose from: lofts, cabins, barn spaces, etc. Many have jacuzzis which can provide your evening entertainment, lol. We have not eaten in the restaurant because our top restaurant on earth is very close by, but when it was closed, Josh gave us great recommendations. And he made a lovely tofu scramble for breakfast as a special request. One sweet touch: despite checking the room, we left without my spouse's expensive phone charger. Housekeeping found it and ran after us before we could drive off without it. She did not have to do that. Always tip your housekeeping staff. The extended Covid months have been very hard on inns, restaurants, and event spaces, and it must be stressful for them as things come back to life when so many events have been postponed. It is wonderful to be back out again. We will return -- a lot.

The Barley Sheaf is very serious about pandemic precautions, so masks are in full effect, and they'll walk you to your socially-distanced table in a beautiful, outdoor gardening setting. The inn itself is an architectural delight, as well, so you are surrounded by beauty on all sides. Service was pleasant and forthcoming. I wouldn't say that this is the finest level of dining, of course, you're not expecting EMP in the middle of Bucks County, but this is a good attempt, and people are pleasant and quite dignified. The guests were all well attired and the crowd is polite and kind. Food is of the adventurous character, which I enjoy. A lot of different flavor combinations (they like to do salé and sucré), beautiful plating, interesting textures, and good cooking techniques. My favorites were the octopus appetizer (so buttery soft and tender, which is a rarity) and the pheasant special, which was a pleasant and apropos surprise in this outdoor, country setting. Finally, this is a BYOB restaurant with perfectly selected wine glasses, fine silverware, and other special touches such as a freshly starched linens, etc. which elevate the dining experience.

It was moderately busy when we entered, and was getting rather crowded by the time we left an hour later. I ordered one of their specials -- a breakfast burrito with eggs, potatoes, fresh tomato, green peppers, onions, and cheese, then wrapped in bacon and deep fried. The crispy burrito and bacon complemented the fillings nicely, and it was served with a crema sauce on the side. My dining partner got a strawberry cheesecake crepe, which had a generous amount of fresh strawberries and filling, and a pile of whipped cream on top. It too was delicious. The portions for both were perfect -- generous but not excessive. The coffee was good as well, which I can't say about a lot of places anymore. It was very clean and new inside, and the decoration was very nice. Modern and elegant, but with enough natural oak accents, basket-shaded lights, and plants to really brighten the space. The service was also excellent. They were fully staffed with many attentive employees available, and the service was on point. The food came out fast and hot. If I had one complaint, it might be that the A/C was a little strong. It's maybe a little pricey for breakfast compared to diner fare (almost every entrée was $10-15), but the value is 100% there. Excellent food, nice atmosphere, and great service. Definitely a stand-out in the area for breakfast/brunch/lunch, and I will definitely be back.
