Exactly what ya would expect ... Decent food .. friendly staff.. worth a try if in the area

I went to the West End quite often over the years, but usually regret it. Recently I decided to give it another shot. Again, the food was bad, especially for the price. In the past I've chipped my tooth on tiny bones in the pulled pork. Had pizza so watery I could pour the water off, and had rotten salad ingredients. The bartenders are excellent, so if you want beverages you will be in good hands. They used to have a great Sunday brunch but haven't had enough help to make that happen lately (I heard). read more

There is no missle crisis at the West End , the Cuban is the bomb! The Cuban is so great I rarely order other items. The Cuban is loaded with pork, ham and it is served on a Naan flatbread that blows it up because the bread doesn't overwhelm the sandwich. If you like Cuban sandwiches then this is a must try , it is definitely one of the best I have ever eaten! The Cuban and burgers are so good that I rarely order other items but today I had the wings , can't remember the last time I had wings here but WOW ! The wings quickly rise to the top of my list as best ever, they are cooked incredibly.I think they may be smoked because they were so crispy. The fire on the mountain sauce was excellent, it had some serious kick and wasn't overly complex, right on point . The French onion, as you can see, is loaded with cheese and onions. The soup was served a little below temperature but still super strong bold broth , it could be a meal. I live the open rustic ambiance and there was a fire burning which was nice . Service was pretty Good but when ordering wings is " one napkin " ever enough for anyone? Love this place and need to try sone other options including the chicken sandwiches, cheesesteaks and roast beef sandwich. read more

Summary: Family friendly spot with pub grub, a complete kids menu, better than average beer selection, and great service. Passing through town on the way to Crayola, and then NYC for the weekend with the kids. Wife stumbled across The West End on Yelp, and we gave it a shot. Kids menu was perfect, had a proper pint of Guinness for St Patrick's weekend, and there was decent selection of some east coast craft beer, too (several Hazies, a few fruited sours). The twister fries (forgetting the name) were awesome, whole family loved them. I had the beef dip sandwich, cheesy as hell and absolutely delicious. Couldn't finish the whole thing. Wife had a fried chicken salad and really liked the dressing. Kids ordered usual kid stuff, ate half of it, wasted the rest. Par for the course. Shannon, the server, and Nick, manager on duty I think? Were both awesome. Food was out FAST. Quick, attentive, checked back in regularly and had drink refills. Would absolutely return if we find ourselves driving through in the future. Highly recommended. read more

Ordered baked onion soup which had almost a sweet flavor....not the flavor I was looking for. Ordered a 50/50 burger. Taste was strange, didn't appear to be grilled--maybe microwaved?? and consistency was very firm, not your typical grilled burger. Will never go back again. Maria was incredibly diligent and flexible with helping to coordinate the details and was always available when needed. She offered valued recommendations and made the entire party feel at home! Took 2 over tow hours from sit down till time we got our food. The people behind us needtheir food 10 times faster. Maybe it's because they all ordered alcohol beverages and all we got was sodas and water. This is not the first time this has been like this but I always like to try somewhere twice. I always think some can be having an off night, will not be coming back to this establishment. Don't waste your time of money here. read more

The West End is a tried and true favorite of mine since 2017. I'm finally reviewing it! You can pretty much always be assured of good food here. We love their pizza, and have tried classic bar food/ snacks many times. We also have done dinner here quite a bit. I'm reviewing my most recent dinner there this past weekend. I love their crab asparagus soup. It's kind of a staple there. That was my appetizer. My bf had the garlic wings. Both a 10/10! I got the fish special which I saw advertised as salmon, but I missed the salmon the night before and it was flounder the night I went. It was still very good, fresh and healthy. My bf got the clams in garlic sauce and added the chorizo. He definitely wasn't complaining. They had a band that night, which makes for a complete date night. The bartender serving us dinner and drinks was very attentive even tho the place was busy. The bathroom was clean, but freezing! If that's the only complaint, I'll take it, tho! read more

My daughter's graduation was in the early evening on June 4th and she wanted to go out for dinner after. Since we wouldn't be sitting until 9:30-10pm the restauraunt picking where slim as most would be closing around this time. I've heard of the West End only because I frequent the East End which is owned by the same people but the latter is closer to home and the West End was on the way home from the grad ceremonies. I made a reservation for 10 people and when we got to the West End we were seated promptly in a room which about 1/2 of the tables where taken. That's it as far as service. We sat there for 40 minutes and not a single person even bothered to come take our drink order or bring us the obligatory glass of water while we watched tables fill up get drinks and give orders. We just got up and left and more disappointing was watching the hostess that sat us watch us leave and not say a word. Its almost like they needed the table for their regulars and made it so we would leave. I will never set foot into the West End again and their sister restaurant, the East End lost a customer as well. If I could give 1/10 of a star I would, this place doesn't deserve a full star. read more

I've been here twice. This first time I got the cuban..it was good, but forgot the mustard. The did bring me some. It was so good I have no words to describe it! Second time wasn't so great. Worst service ever! Waited 20 minutes for a table (not the problem). Seated at the table in the bar. Ten minutes later another couple came in and sat at the table behind us. In under 5 minutes the server came and took THEIR drink order and walked away. We were still waiting...so we left and went to another restaurant. Will not be returning. I can't say enough about this place. I recently had a dinner there for the 55+ community where I live. We grew from 25 people to 46 and ended up practically taking over their dining room. Maria and her staff took such good care of us. The service was fantastic and the food was great! They really exceeded my expectations. We will be back again! read more

We walked in last night around 7:00 and we were seated right away. Then promptly ignored. The room was no where near being full. We watched a waiter chat it up with a few tables that were obviously friends. Again, the place was no where near full and people were paying and leaving...after 20 minutes of being ignored we approached what appeared to be a manager and expressed our dismay. Like a deer in headlights there was no action taken instead she turned To the hostess as if it was her fault. Seriously the food is okay pub food at best so if the experience sucks there is no reason to spend my hard earned money there. If you're not a regular apparently you're not welcome! read more

Food is pretty good, our favorite is the mozzarella! Mixed drinks are hit or miss - every other time we are there they're either a good stiff drink or just juice in the cocktails with a splash of alcohol- seems to depend on the bartender. Service is hit or miss as well, most of the time good servers though! We enjoy sitting by the fire place. read more

My wife and I Recently moved to the area three weeks ago, and were looking for a good local bar. We've been there three times already. The West End didn't disappoint. Friendly locals and staff. Great food (the brisket sandwich was awesome!) and beer choice. The only downside with finding a good spot is absolutely everyone else wants to be there :) we went to get something to eat around 6 one evening and couldn't even get a parking spot! She made some awesome recommendations and sat with us and shared with us her college experience. Yesterday was the anniversary of our first sort-of-date, which happened at the West End. To commemorate, we picked up some snacks curbside - buffalo wings and buffalo shrimp. When my boyfriend placed the order, he was put on hold while the hostess asked if they even carried the buffalo shrimp listed on the menu. When we got home, I opened the box and was greeted with what appeared to be 5 small scampi or cocktail shrimp pooled in spicy water. I hate complaining about food (this is the first 1 star review I've ever left for a restaurant - you can check) but I questioned if I had even received the right food, given the confusion during the order process. Surely this could not be the buffalo shrimp? So I called the restaurant and apologetically asked if this is what I ordered. I was transferred to the owner and stated my concerns. He confirmed I had received the correct order ("Are there shrimp? Is there sauce? There you go.") I attempted to explain that there was no sauce on the shrimp, only pooled in the container, and he told me that they are grilled and "sorry we don't prepare them like other places." He informed me that the shrimp are very popular and implied that I simply don't understand what a buffalo shrimp is. I was so confused by the defensive response and increasingly anxious, having been hesitant to call in the first place. I said there is no way what I received was worth the $10.99 which we paid. He responded by "educating" me on the market price of shrimp and told me that just because I buy shrimp at BJs (I don't) doesn't mean that's how much restaurant shrimp cost. He claimed he spoke with the kitchen and was assured that the shrimp were prepared to perfection.   I recognize that in the time of covid, presentation is not always ideal when substituting a takeout container for a plate. You're not going to have the same experience at home, and we all need to be forgiving of that. I do wonder if perhaps the shrimp were placed in the container when they were still very hot and it steamed the sauce right off? (Of note, this had not occurred with the chicken wings.) I also suspect that my food may have been more appetizing if served in-house. But something happened in the interim that resulted in it being mostly inedible, and by invalidating my experience and writing me off, the problem could not be identified. If the restaurant had confirmed that I received the right meal while in some way validating that I had a less-than-stellar experience, for whatever reason, I would give it maybe 3 stars for the chicken and call it a day. I wasn't calling for a refund, I had called to see if I had even received the right order. But the attitude of management toward a customer was indefensible. I ordered buffalo shrimp, and what I received was cocktail shrimp in a watery hot sauce, an unsolicited education on the cost of shrimp, and a bitter taste for a place that previously was special to us. read more

Was seated rather quickly. We have been here a couple times and we were looking for a good date night. Server didn't come for 20 mins. When it hit the 15 min mark I walked up to ask if they could send out server. Still nothing. We walked out and they were all arguing at the hostess stand about the communication as we left. We walked into a half empty restaurant and were told our party of 5 couldn't eat because there was a party of 30 and the "manager" said they couldn't take any more orders. The employee was rude to boot. When we asked if we could sit at the bar (where there was no less than 10 seats open) she asked us "Why? I just told you we can't accommodate you". It truly leaves us wondering if there is some reason this individual didn't want us (my husband and I and our three parents) sitting in her restaurant? West End's message was received loud and clear. It was fair. Used to be a good place. I really wanted chili. But the only put it in the bread bowl. I didn't want all the carbs. She wanted to charge me full price for chili in a regular bowl. Lol. Yea right. So I had a bowl of their crab asparagus soup instead. It was ok. Kinda cold. Ate it anyway. Never had the server/bartender ask if I wanted something else. Took my family to dinner on a Sunday. Wasn't that busy. Seated immediately. Nobody came to check on us for over 10 minutes. Not even a drink order. Meanwhile people who were sat after us were being waiting on. We got up and walked out. Had to put my 3 kids back in the car. 2 are in car seats. This place is a joke. I really want to give this place more stars, but I just can't do it. Last week my husband, my 14 year old son and I stopped in for a quick bite. It happened to be a Wednesday and the special was prime rib. The kid went for it and LOVED it. So much so that we decided to make this a weekly thing. 2 days ago we visited for the prime rib special for him. It was a bit early, before the dinner rush, but it was still after school hours and the kiddo was starving. He ordered his prime rib but we were told that the special didn't start until 5pm (it was approx 330.) This wasn't stated anywhere, not the menus, no signage.. whatever. He ended up ordering the salmon, my husband a steak sandwich, and I ordered the Q Town chicken sandwich. All of our food was rock hard and inedible. We barely touched our food. Everything had a charred, burnt taste and physical black burnt pieces. I'm not sure if the cook was just having an off night or if this is typical, but it really makes me not want to return. read more

Good bar/tavern fare. Fried pickles are excellent. As are their 'fire on the mountain burger and wings. Sidewinder fries complete the meal.

This location has a private parking lot. Nice bar and separate seating area. The AC really needed to be adjusted very badly, it was freezing beyond belief because it had rained that day and brought the temperature down drastically. The food was pretty decent, but the service was extremely poor to barely existent. Once the waiter brought out our food, he never checked back to see how the food was, or if we needed anything. We finally had to chase him down to ask for another drink and some condiments. It's a real shame the service was so bad or else I would've increased the stars. If it wasn't for the descent food, I would have given them lower stars. read more
