Cuban
Mike G.

There is no missle crisis at the West End , the Cuban is the bomb! The Cuban is so great I rarely order other items. The Cuban is loaded with pork, ham and it is served on a Naan flatbread that blows it up because the bread doesn't overwhelm the sandwich. If you like Cuban sandwiches then this is a must try , it is definitely one of the best I have ever eaten! The Cuban and burgers are so good that I rarely order other items but today I had the wings , can't remember the last time I had wings here but WOW ! The wings quickly rise to the top of my list as best ever, they are cooked incredibly.I think they may be smoked because they were so crispy. The fire on the mountain sauce was excellent, it had some serious kick and wasn't overly complex, right on point . The French onion, as you can see, is loaded with cheese and onions. The soup was served a little below temperature but still super strong bold broth , it could be a meal. I live the open rustic ambiance and there was a fire burning which was nice . Service was pretty Good but when ordering wings is " one napkin " ever enough for anyone? Love this place and need to try sone other options including the chicken sandwiches, cheesesteaks and roast beef sandwich.

Awesome fries, and a fruited sour from Aslin.

Summary: Family friendly spot with pub grub, a complete kids menu, better than average beer selection, and great service. Passing through town on the way to Crayola, and then NYC for the weekend with the kids. Wife stumbled across The West End on Yelp, and we gave it a shot. Kids menu was perfect, had a proper pint of Guinness for St Patrick's weekend, and there was decent selection of some east coast craft beer, too (several Hazies, a few fruited sours). The twister fries (forgetting the name) were awesome, whole family loved them. I had the beef dip sandwich, cheesy as hell and absolutely delicious. Couldn't finish the whole thing. Wife had a fried chicken salad and really liked the dressing. Kids ordered usual kid stuff, ate half of it, wasted the rest. Par for the course. Shannon, the server, and Nick, manager on duty I think? Were both awesome. Food was out FAST. Quick, attentive, checked back in regularly and had drink refills. Would absolutely return if we find ourselves driving through in the future. Highly recommended.

I took a chance on the monthly special. Note: their specials last for the entire month. I would recommend getting in the car and coming over to The West End for the Korean spareribs. A very good plate of food.

Good bar/tavern fare. Fried pickles are excellent. As are their 'fire on the mountain burger and wings. Sidewinder fries complete the meal.

I started with the scallops which were perfectly seared and cooked over a thoughtful bed of cucumbers and wasabi and sushi rice. It was an excellent appetizer and I might get the full entrée next time. The 12 ounce New York was one of the best steaks I've had in a year and I've had my share of steaks in the last year. Perfect medium, excellent sear, very good sourcing of product, and not drenched in butter like the posers do- I was a happy carnivore. The truffle fries were excellent, and the broccolini was perfectly al dente and seasoned. Emily, my server, was phenomenal. She was never up in my grill, but always there when I needed her. She made recommendations with some taste tests that were perfect for me. This quaint restaurant in a tiny town of Spinnerstown is an excellent compliment to the area and anyone near it should feel grateful to have it close... for me I'll likely make the drive again.

I usually love their mac and cheese and brisket egg rolls. View the picture of my latest order of brisket egg rolls. Loosely wrapped couldn't even pick them up to eat and laying in a pool of oil.. Normally I would go back and ask them for a new order but that was inconvenient at the time as I was alone with my kids and already had them situated and eating. I'm not going to lie, I'm sure I'll give them another chance because it's one of the types of food I actually like in trolley barn but they need to work on quality control for sure.

A majority of the menu consists of meats and sides. The meats; brisket, pulled pork, chicken, kielbasa, Italian sausage, and ribs. The sides; mac & cheese, baked beans, street corn, coleslaw, collard greens, potato salad, mashed potatoes, tater tots, waffle fries, and cornbread. They also have a few appetizers, smoked wings, and boneless tenders. I ordered one of their family value packs. It included brisket, chicken, mac & cheese, baked beans, street corn , waffle fries, and cornbread (2 meats, 4 sides + cornbread). Everything was amazing! The meats were super tender and all the sides were packed with flavor. As of right now Meat Wagon has my top spot for BBQ restaurants. I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
