I was driving home from California and was going to eat at a place called arctic circle (oof). I lost connection on my phone and decided to navigate back to the interstate. I noticed the diner on the way back, and after ordering from the relaxed, yet polite and professional employees, I can only explain that god himself had planned for me to eat here today. Drove from Rock Springs to get food since everything here is closed on Sunday's. Was really disappointed that we drove and paid $25 for a burger that was decent but missing things we asked for, and an order of cheese fries which entailed a whole (maybe) 12 fries. read more

Got meatloaf here on a monday night when everything else was closed. I prob should of gone w something more traditional to eat like a burger. On a good note it's open 24hrs which is rare around here and the 50s diner setting is really cute. If I go back again I'd probably just try something simple like a burger or sandwich. read more

The food here was amazing. We came to Penny's while driving across the country and were staying at the Oak Tree Inn, which is in the same lot. Penny's was AMAZING. My boyfriend had the ranch chicken sandwich (he loved it) and I had a Hawaiian chicken sandwich (might not be the exact name, but you get the jist). IT WAS DELICIOUS. What's great is that if you stay at the Oak Tree Inn, you get free breakfast at Penny's. We couldn't wait to go back the next morning. The pancakes were fluffy and impossible to describe good. My boyfriend had a breakfast sandwich and described it as "one of the best he ever had" (that's saying something since he lived in New York for a long time). We loved it! read more

Ladies and gentlemen listen up because this was some seriously delicious breakfast. I ate here after backpacking in the wind rivers and penny's perfectly satisfied my hunger. We ordered just about everything on the menu and everything was delicious and hearty. We were served by some very warm hearted people who were excited to hear about our backpacking experience and welcome us back into the real world. The diner itself is super cool too. It's filled with lots of classic American advertisements and makes me proud to be an American citizen. All I wanted was a slice of apple pie with melted cheddar. They had shredded, and microwaved it, but still wasn't really melted. The atmosphere was fun, maybe my expectation was too high for a roadside diner to know what I was talking about. They just looked at us funny when we ordered. So the food was okay. Definitely did not satisfy the craving we were going for. While eating, the servers chatted it up about who was going on there smoke break first and who was going out together to smoke. Noticed the cook left and didn't take off his gloves, that's because he wasn't wearing any. So we were done eating and say there while the waitress looked like she had a stick stuck up her butt. Decent enough food. My husband couldn't finish his triple decker club sandwich because it was so big so portions are good and his sandwich was tasty. Chefs salad needed tomatoes and included an odd pile of finely chopped onions and bell pepper which was weird. Staff very welcoming and friendly. It's not gourmet but tasty diner food overall. Recanting my initial review, last night service was awesome, pregnant woman worked the store by her self w 7 customers, chatted w everyone food was cooked well and timely. Only place I've eaten from in the week I've been her, def a favorite. Food always taste good, usually call in and it's done when I get there. We love the dinner....HOWEVER, you can't eat there in the winter months because it is FREEZING!!! Literally. We had breakfast with our family in January, we had to wear our heavy winter gear WHILES we were sitting at our booth, & all of our meals were ice cold. Charming 50's diner atmosphere down to the music. Great view of the beautiful terrain surrounding Green River, WY. The service was good, and the food was mediocre. I had the chicken fried steak breakfast, and everything except the eggs seemed prepackaged and reheated. I gave this place one star because that's the minimum possible, but it should get a zero. Their Philly cheesesteak is made with deli roast beef fried on the griddle - not just wrong, but it tasted terrible. The mashed potatoes were cold, dry and did not resemble potatoes in either texture or flavor. The gravy was right out of can - not good. The piece of cherry pie I got was mostly red colored glop with about 6 cherries in it. The only edible part was the french fries, which were served lukewarm. Avoid at all costs. read more

We found Penny's through the KOA and Yelp on our travels across country. We went to breakfast and the place was totally full tables, counter, and booths would fill up as soon as they were emptied. It is a 50's kind of diner (even looks kinda like one from the outside). The waitress was wonderful and we got a booth where I could actually watch the "short order cook". I have never seen one working. She was awesome! My husband and I each had the classic 2 eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. The meal was cooked exactly right! The only thing that marred our enjoyment of the place, the service, and the meal was the woman at the booth next to us who discussed her husband/boyfriend and his infidelities on the phone in a loud voice the entire time (when will people learn that nobody else wants to hear their personal business and keep the phone away from restaurants) -- editorial comment.
