We've been bringing our pups to the Jamboree location for quite a while, and up until the beginning…read moreof this year, we had nothing but positive experiences. Last year, we brought them frequently and always felt confident leaving them there. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the facility felt clean, and our dogs always seemed happy to be there. That's why it's so disappointing to see how much things have changed since the ownership transition. Since the change in ownership, we've noticed a significant decline in the overall experience. The staff no longer feels as friendly or approachable. While there are still a few kind employees, several team members come across as cold and unhelpful, making drop-off feel uncomfortable and even a bit intimidating. It no longer feels like the warm, welcoming environment it once was. We've also noticed the facility doesn't seem nearly as clean as it used to be. Our dogs consistently come home smelling strongly of urine after daycare. We occasionally check the live cameras throughout the day and frequently see urine sitting on the playroom floors for extended periods before being cleaned up. If messes in the common play areas are left unattended, it raises concerns about how often the kennels are being cleaned when the dogs are resting. Combined with the odor our dogs come home with, it has made us question the overall cleanliness of the facility. Another noticeable change is how little time our dogs now seem to spend in the play areas. We'll pay for a half-day of daycare, and by the time we pick them up, we're lucky if they've spent more than 30 minutes interacting with other dogs. The majority of their visit appears to be spent kenneled. We choose daycare because we want our dogs to have a safe, clean environment where they can socialize and play. If they're spending most of their visit in a kennel, it's difficult to justify paying for daycare when they could be comfortably resting at home in a cleaner environment for free. Customer service has also become frustrating. Recently, one of our dogs came home without his collar. We didn't realize it until we got home, so we called the facility and were told someone would call us back because they were too busy at the moment. We never received a callback. After calling several more times over the next few days without getting an answer, we ultimately had to drive to the facility ourselves just to ask about and retrieve the collar. Pickup has also become much slower than it used to be, often requiring a long wait before our dogs are brought out. We're genuinely disappointed because we loved this location for a long time and trusted the team with our pets. Unfortunately, since the ownership change, we've experienced a noticeable decline in cleanliness, customer service, and the overall level of care. We hope these concerns are taken seriously because we'd love to see this location return to the high standard that made us loyal customers in the first place.

He did love the doggy daycare but when I picked him up from Bone Adventure Boarding where he stayed two nights on Sunday evening my dog was very ill. He got two ear infections, paws red itchy, and bloody. He seemed traumatized and very ill. I took him to the vet and they had put him on antibiotics, they gave him steroids and allergy shots and it's still 16 days after and his paws are not healed and my puppy is getting worse and lots and lots of vet bills. It is worth it to pay for a dog sitter.

Update:2/20/15 You have another review with only one review under her belt and you didn't seem to think she was fake because of that fact. Every single reviewer has to start somewhere. Not sure how to take the fact that you think I am fake. Under PRO; where I said the owner was a cool cat, clearly I was mistaken. I find it highly unusual that you would think "someone put me up to this" WHY on earth would I or anyone do that?? I am insulted that you assume I do not have a mind of my own and therefore don't have an opinion worth sharing. Does it matter how I obtained a 50% off postcard, I do not think so. The fact is, I got one. I used it. I decided to share my visit with yelpers. Period. Thanks for the condescending love greeting, how professional of you. First review: I got the post card for Penny's Pup Wash in the mail and for 50% off even! I was SUPER STOKED!!!!! I finally got it in to try it. The Pros: The place is a super duper cool spot, a stand alone building cottage house. They have a little backyard which is cool to let your dog run around and play after the bath or before if you want. They have stuff for sale like dog collars, dog beds, leashes and more. The owner is a cool cat with dog of his named Penny. The Cons: The Tubs?! why why why do I want to pay them to wash my dog in their bathtub when I can wash my dog in my own tub? They shoved 6 tubs in a cramped area and there is barely room to move around or move around other people washing their dogs. EEK! BLEH! My dog doesn't like baths so I have to use the collar around his neck but I still had to use one hand to hold him down because he could reach the edge of the tub from every angle and was trying to get out of the tub. He climbed the stairs then was expected to do a high dive??? Really? That tub and death dive didn't make it easy for me or my dog, and forget bringing my senior dog. Glad I did not bring him. He has terrible hips, no way can he climb such steep stairs and then jump off from that high of a platform landing with such force. The "back yard" is a rad space to be social with your dogs but I want to wash my dog and then get on with the rest of what I have to do for the day. If social hour was the agenda I would head to The Huntington Dog Beach, a dog park or even The Zoom Room, BUT that is not why I go to a dog wash. I brought my own shampoo, I wasn't sure what to expect or if they provided it. They do, but glad I brought my own. Wasn't a fan of what they provide. read more

I chose Penny's Pup Wash after a disappointing experience with a nearby grooming business that rhymes with Wealthy Pot. Following several failed appointments, I was hesitant to try another place, especially one I had never noticed despite living off 17th before moving to San Diego. The unassuming storefront, resembling a residential house, didn't scream "pet grooming," but I decided to give it a shot. Prior to 2020, I used to self-wash my German Shepherd, but pandemic lockdowns shifted us towards full grooming services. Having explored numerous places between OC and SD, my dog and I, being avid ocean lovers, find ourselves in need of frequent baths since my dog sleeps on my bed. Penny's Pup Wash has been a game-changer, and Eileen's exceptional grooming on our visit on 12/6 left me still in awe over a month later. For a German Shepherd owner, being impressed with deshedding results after 30 days is a testament to the quality of service at Penny's Pup Wash. I'm definitely going back to Eileen. Kudos to Penny's Pup Wash; please keep her happy! What sets Penny's apart from the other place up the street is the evident sense of purpose among its staff. It's clear that they work here not just for a paycheck but because they genuinely care about their work. Disappointing Experience at Penny's Pup Wash As a long-time customer of Penny's Pup Wash, I am disappointed to be writing this review. Over the years, I have trusted them with my beloved pet and always received satisfactory service. However, during my most recent visit, I experienced something that made me question their commitment to their clients. After picking up my dog from the grooming session, I noticed a cut on the back of his neck, which looked like it was caused by a nip from the grooming shears. Concerned for my dog's well-being, I contacted the groomer Miguel to discuss the issue. To my surprise, the groomer denied any responsibility and refused to acknowledge the possibility of making a mistake and even tried to cover up the cut with a scarf. After bringing this to the attention of the owner Jason and providing him a picture of the cut on my dogs neck, I was expecting a more empathetic and responsible response. Instead, they simply offered me a refund and suggested that I find another groomer. This was not the resolution I was hoping for, and I was taken aback by their lack of concern for my dog's well-being. Considering my loyalty as a customer, I expected Penny's Pup Wash to handle the situation more professionally and compassionately. The fact that they brushed off the incident and refused to take responsibility for their mistake is deeply disheartening. Unfortunately, I will no longer be patronizing Penny's Pup Wash and cannot recommend their services to others. Great friendly staff took my shaggy little munchkin and sent her back bright and fluffy! Our usual groomer had an unfortunate happening of a car driving through the storefront they are always great about getting my Maltese in at the last minute. Because of this I'm spoiled and never plan ahead for grooming... I called, spoke with Jason, the owner, told him the circumstances and he compassionately fit her in the following morning (cuz they don't groom mondays-the day I called). They are not as cheap as our Reg spot but still comparable or less than most! Also, When I picked her up I saw they have kennels but also have some pups free roaming in a room (supervised) which makes me really happy. Hoping next time, my very social girl will be in that room! Ok seriously with this place !? Amazing. So unique!!! Clean, smelled good and my dog was in heaven. He didn't want to leave which is a first for any type of dog establishment. They took the time to understand the style I wanted and delivered it perfectly -- my pup came out looking adorable, clean, and so handsome . The cut was even, the coat was soft, and he smelled amazing. What really stood out was how calm and happy my he was afterward, which tells me he was treated with care the whole time. The grooming area was clean and welcoming, and the service was finished right on schedule. I have been a loyal customer for over six years, and until today, Sydnee's was the only groomer I trusted with my dog. Over the years, they consistently took excellent care of her, listened carefully to the haircut I requested, and handled her with patience and gentleness. Aside from one very minor nick on her thigh during a previous appointment, I had always felt comfortable leaving her in their care. Today, I dropped my small dog off at 2:00 p.m. for a full groom. As always, I kept my phone nearby in case she finished early or there was an emergency. At 4:30 p.m., I received a text that she was ready for pickup, and I arrived by 5:00 p.m. As soon as I entered the store, the groomer, Jen, informed me that my dog had been cut on her ear. She explained that my dog had bled but that the bleeding had stopped, and she advised me not to bother the ear because it could bleed again if disturbed. At that point, my dog was still behind the glass in a kennel, so I had no opportunity to examine either her haircut or the injury before paying. Trusting that the injury had been accurately described, I thanked Jen for informing me, paid the full grooming fee, and left a tip. I noticed dark gray and black flakes around her ear and brought my dog to my car to examine her more closely. I immediately realized the injury was much more significant than I had understood. Rather than a small nick, a noticeable piece of the edge of her ear had been cut away. I returned to the store immediately and politely explained that I was concerned because the injury appeared much more serious than it had been described. I also expressed that I wished I had been given the opportunity to see my dog's injury before paying and tipping. Unfortunately, the conversation quickly became defensive. Rather than acknowledging my concerns, Jen repeatedly blamed my dog, stating, "Your dog moves around so much. What do you want me to do? Restrain her? Even the lady who does the baths says your dog moves so much." When I mentioned that this was the worst grooming injury my dog had experienced in six years of coming to Sydnee's, she again responded unproductively that my dog probably gets nicked because she moves so much. Again, apart from one minor nick to the thigh during a previous groom, my dog had always left Sydnee's without injury. What disappointed me was not simply that an accident occurred, but how it was handled afterward. I would have appreciated the opportunity to examine my dog before completing payment and a more accurate description of the extent of the injury. The most disappointing aspect of my interaction with Jen was her choosing to assign blame to a frightened dog. Before I left, Jen told me that she would not groom my dog for her next appointment. I told her that, after this experience, we would not be returning.

To be completely honest, when I dropped my pup off, I was so ready to picked up a completely shaved boy (because he is so matted on random spots) Esther spent the entire day with him (blessed her heart) When I picked him up, I wanted to cry. The haircut was decent and the experience was okay, which is why I decided to come back with all three of my dogs. Looking back, that was a mistake. I scheduled appointments and clearly discussed haircuts for all three dogs. They kept my dogs for over three hours, and when I picked them up, it was obvious that almost nothing had been done. No haircut. No proper grooming. No bath. It looked like they had simply been brushed and sent back out. After wasting hours of my day and leaving my dogs there, I received essentially no service. Then came the best part: they expected me to pay around $100 per dog anyway. Let me be clear--the money is not the problem. The problem is expecting customers to pay hundreds of dollars for services that were never provided. Why would anyone pay for a haircut that never happened? To make things even worse, over a month later the owner called me demanding money and threatening legal action. Instead of taking responsibility for the fact that nothing was done, she chose to act aggressively and try to intimidate me. If that is how customer complaints are handled, it's no wonder people leave upset. This business seems far more concerned about collecting money than actually delivering the services customers are paying for. The lack of professionalism, accountability, communication, and customer service is unbelievable. I gave this place a second chance because my first visit was decent. After this experience, there won't be a third chance. I will never bring my dogs back here again. If you care about your pets, your time, and your money, I strongly recommend finding another groomer. There are plenty of businesses that actually do the work before demanding payment for it.
