Bangor Veterinary Hospital - Veazie Vet had no hesitation about removing the mass

Dr Richie was awesome. Since he's left, this place has gone so downhill. My lab suffered with a…read moregrowth on her shoulder for two years because Dr. Olson said it was inoperable because it was wrapped around a muscle and also that anesthesia was too risky and that it would be like performing cosmetic surgery on an 80-year-old woman and she'd be in constant pain if we removed it. I went back a few months ago to see if they'd just remove it. She again refused, but never said that maybe another clinic would do it. She made it sound like it was something my dog had to live with and sent me home with the name of a vet who does in-home euthanasia. She said it would eventually rupture and that when it did, we'd have to have her euthanized. My poor girl was so miserable that I was going to make the dreaded call. Thankfully, my husband insisted we get a second opinion. We brought her to Veazie, and they got her right in. The vet said it was not wrapped around a muscle. He even gave up his lunch to get her into surgery ASAP. My dog is now energetic and happy, whereas before she was mopey and sleeping all of the time. I almost had her put down because I trusted someone who is obviously incompetent. The guilt I feel because my poor girl suffered with this mass unnecessarily for two years and the guilt that I almost had her put down is something I now have to live with. I'm including a photo of the mass and a photo of her postop. I should have known better. Dr. Olson was always making snide comments about how my dog was a basket case and was dramatic. I just thought Dr. Olson had a weird sense of humor. My dog would only get stressed at the vet, and I just chalked that up to the equivalent of how some people get stressed when going to the doctor's or a dentist appointment. I now believe my dog just sensed something was off and did not like Dr. Olson, because she didn't act like that at Veazie Vet. Anyway, I highly recommend Veazie Veterinary Clinic. They gave me my dog back!

We recently came in for his annual shots and exam. I lugged 2 kids and my 100lb boy in luckily with the help of my husband who took a few hours off work to help. We came in got his shots and a very very lazy exam. I paid $89 for her to listen to his chest and try to talk me into getting him extra shots. My dog is a healthy boy so we paid the amount she asked and as we left the ladies up front talked to us and wished us well. 2 hours later I get a call that they didn't charge me enough and the lady demanded I give her my card number over the phone. I said no I will need to look at my receipt and I can come in person if needed. I asked for her to explain how I was not charged enough and she said "I don't know the girl was dyslexic with the numbers. She charged you 120 and it was supposed to be more and you need to pay the remainder now". I told her I will come in and pay it when I'm able to since i will not be giving my card over the phone. I'm fine with paying for my services but the way she talked to me over the phone she acted like I walked out without paying. I wasn't able to get my kids out again and go in so my husband did the next day to pay the remaining balance. They made a mistake and instead of apologizing and trying to be nice about it I was talked to like I was a criminal. I was going to be brining my other German shepherd and get them neutered here but after their mistake and the way they treated me over it I will not be bringing either dog here anymore.

In November we bought a little baby Sphinx kitten from a breeder just outside of Boston ( message…read moreme and I will tell you the Sphinx breeder to avoid). At any case we took her here and she checked out as healthy at the time. A month later we were back because of poopy problems. We found out she had a disease that is common in unclean catteries. We received a prescription and the problems started clearing up. Then the real problems started. Our little girl was losing weight and was tired all the time. Because we travel so much we had to take her to an emergency vet in Connecticut. At that point she was diagnosed with FIP which is nearly 100% fatal. We made sure all records were sent to her doctor at the Veazie clinic and they did so much research and expressed such concern for our little Arista. They made appointments available at short notice which during these times is amazing. We drove from Rhode Island on more than one occasion because they were the only one that we could make a appointment with to do the blood tests we needed to monitor her progress. My wife and I sourced the drugs and administered the treatments because vets are not allowed to do it or even tell us about the possible treatment for this horrible disease but we needed a concerned vet that we could ask questions and monitor our treatment progress. Today our little girl is happy, healthy and full of energy. We have another month before we can say she is 100% cured and we are confident she will be. Thank you so much for the outstanding effort everyone at this clinic did for us and our little baby.

I love giving great reviews . Kindred Spirits makes that super easy ! These folks are without any…read moredoubt the most knowledgeable - accessible and compassionate veterinarians in a county that has many terrific vets . Dr Hanks & Dr Barry are both " Top Gun Vets " . They may not always be able to tell you what you want to hear - that's the nature of this business unfortunately- but they will deliver bad news in the most caring compassionate manner possible .The waiting area is extremely comfortable too with coffee always available . Front desk staff is also over the top friendly & compassionate . For a veterinary practice they get the highest rating by me of ANY that I've experienced over my lifetime . What's the real difference here ? I think best summed up like this : they truly care for your pet as if your pet was there's . Update : March 20 2019 - I want to thank all the staff at Kindred today & particularly Dr Barry for placing our beloved Jack asleep this morning at about 10 am . Dr Barry was honest -compassionate and straightforward . His time with us today with Jack is the toughest time for a veterinarian too - and Dr Barry performed his role to such an honorable extent that despite my tremendous grieving tonight I want to make sure I make mention of it . Jack was worth all the tears I've cried for him today and then some . This veterinary practice is more than worth your patronage . I will miss the staff here almost as much as I will miss Jack . Thank You Dr Barry & Hanks & Kindred .

Retired DVM. Left this practice several years ago. Attending DVM was Taryn Haller, and at the time…read moreshe had been graduated for less than two years from vet school. In December 2021, one of my dogs sustained a facial injury. It was later in the afternoon, I Was applying an initial bandage to the dogs face and my wife called the clinic which was still open. The receptionist, Jo-El, apathetically told my wife that they would probably be closed by the time we arrived. My concern was the proximity of the injury to the dog eye. The dog was seen and treated at midcoast in Warren who did an excellent job.. Several days later, I expressed my concern about the clinics reaction to Dr Haller, who responded with a scathing email telling me that I had no business abusing her staff on the phone. Dr. Haller also stated "Ultimately, dog bite wounds can wait until the morning in many cases, with antibiotics and pain medications. Due to the crushing component of bite wounds, the full extent of injury isn't fully declared for 3-5 days afterwards - meaning that if it was small, I may not have even wanted to close in a potential infection or unhealthy tissue." To put it simply, this statement is completely inaccurate. Its proximity to the Eye demanded immediate attention. Apparently the receptionist decided to provide her employer with a more creative version of the truth, rather than take responsibility for her completely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior, When I wrote her back to explain that I hadn't even been on the phone and that the call had been recorded, I didn't receive any reply. I then wrote the clinic owner of my experiences, and never got a reply. It is my understanding that the clinic has since been sold to a corporation. This makes no difference to me. It's been my experience when I was working that corporate ownership at no time improves the quality of service provided by any veterinary clinic.
