I was moving my daughter from Fort Myers, FL to Austin, TX…read more She was the one renting the truck, they quoted her a price of 495.00 and when she went to pick it up, they charged her 300.00+ for insurance and she couldn't refuse this and use her own insurance. Being a young woman with a tight budget to move, this added cost that through her over her budget...THIS ADDED INSURANCE WAS BS. When she got into the truck the tire pressure light was on and they said that it was fine. Plus it was FILTHY. Then she saw a caulk written note on the windshield that stated 'Cadillac Convertor Broken' they did not answer her question if it was okay. Being an impatient 20 year old she left with the truck. We were 2 hours into our journey on I 75 and the truck broke down. The transmission hose snapped in half. It was 5:00 pm. We called Budget 5x and sometimes we were on hold up to 45 mins before we lost the call. Meanwhile, we were still on I 75 in a dangerous situation. Once we got a hold of Budget (1 1/2 hours later) they said that they will send a mechanic first and we told them that we NEED to be towed to a safer place and they refused to send a tow truck. It took 90 more mins on the very busy dark highway when the mechanic showed up. He was wonderful and was concerned with our safety. He fixed the problem enough for us to drive to the nearest exit. Once we were at the hotel's parking lot, he stated that Budget will almost never do a swap of trucks. Keep in mind that this was a huge inconvenience to our tight schedule. So the mechanic said that he will stay and fix our truck for our long journey. We were told to save all receipts for reimbursement from Budget (we have not seen any reimbursement as of now). What we took on this experience was, we will NEVER use or recommend Budget Truck Rental to anyone. Customer services WAS UNACCEPTABLE. Their rules do not help the end user. They have no problem stranding 4 women on the side of a busy highway at night. We are asking for FULL refund at this point. Wish us luck!!

I sent this email to the customer service abyss at Budget. Haven't heard back. If you rent from…read morehere TEST out everything. BUT the location should not rent out trucks that aren't street or highway safe. ************************************************** Ok, so here it goes... On August 5th I picked up the 12 foot truck and confirmed with the agent at the office that the drop off point in Tucson Arizona was a 24 hour drop off. Well it It wasn't. But that was it the main issue. By the time I loaded up the truck it was 5 o'clock in the evening, I planned to be in Tucson about 8-830pm in order to go ahead and move the heavy furniture into the storage unit. ( Las Cruces New Mexico is mountain time Arizona is Pacific time, So a four hour trip would get me there between 8 and 830pm. ) My daughter from Tucson had driven out to Las Cruces to help me get the heavy things into the truck, which only took 20mins to do, then she drove back to Tucson in order to go ahead and get the storage unit. She had to be to the front office Before they closed at 6pm Tucson time. I left at 5pm and drove till dusk, turned on the headlights but neither of them worked. Couldn't see them on the road, pulled off at a truck stop. And confirmed they both weren't working. A truck driver came to help because he had over heard my conversation with a phone rep, trying to transfer me again to Roadside Assistance. I had called several times and was on hold and after the five-minute mark the call with disconnect. Had my daughter who is driving to Tucson try calling from her cell phone same thing would happen to her so I called my sister in Tucson from a landline she tried calling and it would happen to her to. None of us can get a hold of Roadside Assistance and every time I called the reservation line they said the only thing they can do is transfer me. So my daughter who is driving to Tucson turn back around and started driving back to the truck stop where I was. That truck driver was able to get the passenger side headlight to work, but it was really dim. Wouldn't be enough to light the way. After three hours waiting for my daughter to get there. We were back on the road. I knew we weren't going to make it in time to the storage unit. My friends and family had moved around their schedules to help move my things into the unit, but since my daughter had to drive back out to get me and light the way, she didn't get the storage unit. We had to cancel out on everyone's help to move my things. So about a few minutes into Arizona the storm hits. I turn on the Windshield wipers, and I couldn't see out the windshield. They were so badly cracked that it was worse to have them on. So I pulled over again. And got out of the truck to open the back of the truck and dig in some boxes to get plastic wrap. I got soaked because it was heavy rain. I had made sure that my daughter stayed in her truck with my two-year-old granddaughter who was on the trip with us (and by this point, she was very cranky). So I climbed up and wrapped the wiper blades in plastic wrap and secured it with rubber bands. Meanwhile the rain was coming down hard and lightening striking everywhere, typical monsoon. So I was soaked, but the wipers were better. So we drove in to Tucson, it was 130am by the time we got there. A 4 hour trip took 9 1/2 hours. I was tired and my clothes were still wet, had given up on roadside assistance hours ago. I was thankful I didn't get pulled over by Law enforcement. Even though I wanted to choose the law enforcement option on the phones but I didn't. On Tuesday I did go and get the storage unit. I didn't have anybody to help me unload the bigger things. Had to schedule a mover on Wednesday to help me get the bigger things out. He charged me $80 for his services. We emptied out the truck by that time it was 8 o'clock at night. I filled up the truck and drove it over to the Avis budget drop off point. They had nowhere to go ahead and park the truck and no drop off point for the keys. So it wasn't a 24 hour drop off place. So I had to drive the truck all the way back to where I was staying at. I came back the next afternoon and filled up the truck again, $26 in gas. I had to call and get my daughter out of school in order to come and pick me up. Because with all these extra expenses I couldn't afford an Uber. I relieve to turn in the truck. I've always used budget for all my moves, and have NEVER had any issues. I want to be reimbursed for the amounts that were extra on the move, $110 in gas for my daughters truck to come back out and light the way. $80 for the mover, I wouldn't have needed if I was able to get here that night. $26 in extra gas for the moving truck, because it wasn't a 24 hour drop off point, that I had asked for. Totaling $226. This email would have come a lot sooner, if I was given it when I had talked to customers service the first time, but anyway. Thank you for your time, Gina Gary

My girlfriend and I have rented trucks four times from the Camino Casa Verde U-haul location. The…read morenumber one reason we continue to rent from them is customer service. The individuals who work there are extremely friendly and accommodating. There isn't anything that seems to be a bid deal to them. Every time my girlfriend and I think we may have a problem with something regarding the truck rental (reservation, pick-up, return, and or equipment) the answer is always, "No problem. Not a big deal. We'll take care of it." As I said, the people there, at least the ones we have dealt with, are very easy-going. Here are some other things that we have noticed from our experiences with the Camino Casa Verde U-haul location: 1. They seem to have plenty of equipment to rent if you need it, particularly a nice assortment of boxes. 2. They always have a nice selection of trucks and trailers when we are on-site. 3. You can pick up keys for your rental on a Friday afternoon and then pick up your rental on Saturday morning. They will park your rental out front of their facility for your convenience. Actually, they probably do that any day of the week. 4. Their projections on what trucks will be available at their facility for a potential rental at some point in the future have been accurate in our experience. I say this because if you have dealt with U-haul via their website, then you probably know that your reservation, particularly where you will pick-up your rental, seems to change each day as well as the availability of the equipment that you wish to rent. It can cause stress. In these instances, we simply called the Camino Casa Verde location and asked that our reservation be placed with them, contingent of course, upon the availability of the truck we wanted to rent. We have never been told that they wouldn't have what we need. 5. If you happen to return your rental when the facility is not open, then you will find that there is limited room to park the vehicle out in front of their facility. If you happen to return it during a busy weekend, then I can definitely anticipate that there wouldn't be a place to leave the rental. Having said that, we haven't had that happen to us. If it did happen to us, then I feel confident that we could simply take cellphone pictures of the crowded lot, email Camino Casa Verde via the U-haul app about our situation, and then return the rental the following morning. In that scenario, I would expect them tell us, "It's not an issue. Don't worry about it. You won't incur any additional charges." Of course, I don't know this for a fact; but based on my experience there, I would be shocked if they handled it differently.

I tried to return the truck the same day and they were closed. The guy working there, who lives upstairs, came down and told me that I can leave the truck, but then told me there is no after hours drop off because of abuse. So, I drove home and returned at 9:15 am on Sunday to find out that they don't open until 10am. I noticed a sign on the front window that had a checklist for after hours drop offs and there was a drop box for keys. So he lied to me too. The truck had more gas than when I rented it. They charged me for 2 days, then they charged me 2 other times after that, in addition to what I already paid, which made me overdraft and receive over draft fees. When my wife went to the place to resolve the issue, they told her that they couldn't help her. I do not want to short anyone, but I do not want to pay what I did not receive. I used the truck for one day and now they are making me pay for 2? Or 3?? They advertise $29 a day and I somehow accrued almost $220 for a half day. I will never step foot in this place again.

This was stupid. I rented a truck to go 10 miles to move a few large pieces of furniture locally…read more The rental was no trouble--the woman who processed it was very professional and courteous. But the return was a nightmare. I had driven the truck (a 10-footer) exactly 10 miles, but it took almost 3 gallons to refill. When I returned it, I pointed out the discrepancy, thinking it was no big deal. Then some other employee (a man) came from out back and barked at me, "Did you check the gauge?!" I was taken aback by his aggression and snapped back, "Don't put this on me." He pointed to a sign that said they can refuse to serve anyone. I was livid! He then threatened to call the police! Is this their idea of customer service? I asked them to close out my bill so I could leave. While they did that I diffused the situation, but said it was remarkable that they assumed it was my fault. They told me they get people trying to pull stuff over them all the time. But I had driven it just 10 miles! What could I possibly be trying to pull? I'm sure these are nice people normally, but they're pre-cocked in the aggressive position.

They removed the fluids without having any in at the shop and had to order some, we waited days and called back and they said they couldn't return the truck because they had already drained the fluids. This truck is one of our main trucks with all of our equipment and would of been nice to know they weren't able to provide the service knowing they ordered fluids on 2/9/2023 and didn't have them yet but still took in our foam rig in. We could of waited till they got the fluids in stock to provide us this service. As a owner, I would of wished we would of had better communication so I wouldn't be losing work and having our employee wait on a Friday when he got off early and sit around and wait till we receive a phone call to pick up our rig if its even done today as they said.

I own a local Moving & Delivery company and when I bought a used Isuzu delivery truck 5 years ago…read moreit all changed for the better. First of all the truck has the lowest operating cost I have ever experienced and just hasn't let us down. The few repairs I have done have been surprisingly low, actually the service department has come in under their bid price on each repair and maitenence job they have done for me. I just called Monday late afternoon as the front brakes starting grinding. I needed it asap as down time can cost you more than the repairs sometimes. Sharron had me a price and an early Tuesday morning appointment within an hour. The great thing with Vanguard is when you drop it off they get right to it. A couple hours after drop off I got a call from Ed telling me exactly what was needed and that it would be ready for pick up later that same day. This was a $635 bid, another shop bid was $865... my bill when I picked my truck up that afternoon the bill was $513. This is not your typical dealer experience but every time it is how I am treated at Vanguard. The parts dept is the same, Bobby has been my go to guy and he knows everything about these trucks.... he may deny it but everytime I have had a part going, a mystery issue, wanted to be sure of tranny fluid type or needed a part brought in asap, it happens without any issues and I have answers. It is time for a larger truck to be added to the fleet and I am only shopping a used Isuzu because of the truck but also because of the Vanguard dealership's excellent business ethic. Chris F.
