Definitely my favorite place to get spices in Milwaukee! From the moment I step in the door, the (now) familiar scent of all the fabulous spices hit my nose. The coupons/ discounts bring me in more often than I probably need but the quality of the spices are far superior than any you'll buy at the grocery store. These are the spices you want to use when you want to have flavor and WOW people with your culinary creations. The spices are fresh and have full flavor so you won't need to add extra "just in case" because these will be tasted. You will find everything from pepper to garlic to vanilla to their own spice blends. The spices also make for great gifts with their boxed sets (from small to the larger crates), which include stickers, pins, towels, or recipe cards, depending on which box you choose. The staff here are also very helpful and can steer you in the right direction or help you with ideas how you can use some of the spices. The smaller jars near each of the spices allow you to smell them before you buy and usually you can buy in various quantities, depending on your needs (1/4 cup, 1/2 cup, etc.). I try to buy the bagged spices so I can utilize the nice jars I've kept from used up spices. There is even a small play area for children to color because you may end up browsing the store longer than you originally intended with the extensive amount of spices you'll find here. The hours are slightly shorter than the surrounding stores so be sure to check the hours before heading out. Once you get into Penzey's though, I promise those spices you find at the grocery store will seem so bland to you that you'll wonder why you didn't start buying Penzey's sooner!

I did not plan on shopping here today but it was open and I had time I liked how I was able to shop and read the spice information cards at my own pace no sales help pestered me which was pleasant

Some of my seasonings that I've gotten from Penzey's.

I was first introduced to Penzey's by a good friend of mine. It's easy to see why they are so popular. They have an amazing variety of spices to choose from. Whatever it is that you're looking for, chances are, you will find it at Penzey's. The spices are of very good quality and taste. I have amassed quite a collection over the last year or so. As a matter of fact, I just went there recently to redeem my coupon for a free jar of their roasted garlic seasoning. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the spices. This location is very close to my work, which is an added bonus.

Overpriced junk. There are better places to get spices at a fair price. I would stay away.

For the cost of the class, I would have thought I would have got a bit more. The other thing that disappointed me was the glasses are open to all ages of children. In my class, I was there with a middle school boy who somewhat took ownership of the class and wasn't behaving very appropriate for what I thought was an adult-only class. This was an event I purchased as an adult-friendly evening, I do wish this was stated when signing up for classes or at least offer adult-only or all ages classes. It just wasn't the vibe I was going for that evening and frankly was pretty annoying. Although, the owner did try to play down the boy's presence and kindly answer his questions, etc - I probably wouldn't take another class there unfortunately. I do enjoy the shop and the pasta is tasty.

Petra and Andy take such pride in their shop and it shows! We started wandering (and salivating over) their small but impressive selection of sauces, oils, salts, and Italian goodies. They have samples of most of their items, so definitely ask when you're in! The class started with Petra giving a brief overview of the general recipe and then we got our hands dirty almost immediately kneading the dough. The dough got to rest for a bit while we got to sip on some beautiful red wine and Petra taught us how to make a puttanesca sauce. When we went back to knead some more, Andy had magically cleaned the stations and set us up for the next round! On our next rest break, Petra finished assembling the puttanesca with some pasta she made earlier that day and we got a healthy serving of fresh pasta and puttanesca, followed by a sample of some of the most amazing Panettone I have ever had. The care that Petra and Andy put into their work is evident, and their commitment to supporting organic, high quality foods is remarkable. Looking forward to many more classes here!

The lunch menu has a huge variety of options, which made it tough to choose. I went with the BLT on sourdough, served with a pickle spear and thick-cut potato chips. It totally hit the spot. The bacon they use is fantastic. My friend ordered the Sriracha Melt (ham, pepperoni, mozzarella, jalapeños, and sriracha mayo grilled on white bread), which also came with chips and a pickle. Immediately devoured. The salads looked incredible....the table next to us ordered a couple and they looked absolutely divine. Next time for sure. The adjacent market is a must-browse too. It's packed with specialty products and rare finds that you don't see everywhere, making it easy to walk out with way more than you planned. Great food, great service, and a fun market to explore. Highly recommend stopping in if you're anywhere near West Allis.

Both were fantastic! There was street parking available, and while we arrived at a peak time, we were able to find a table after a brief wait once we ordered. There was a covered patio seating area that was also being utilized. After lunch, we browsed the connected store, with a nice selection of cheese and sausage, of course, and lots of great local products. Friendly service, generous portions, and delicious food - we'll be back!
