Stopped In giving a small tour myself, met PJ who was well knowledgable on both the olive oils and balsamic with personal experience. I feel like I noticed a few new things available since my last time in store including the prize pick boxes. I didn't want to carry anything around so I will have to be back for that, I love variety. And already having bought 3 full size bottles in the past including the Tuscan herb (my favorite) it really makes cooking feel elevated and more like an experience and I'd love to get more creative! Definitely recommend trying the raspberry balsamic you'll be blown away! Seriously could be used as a healthy alternative to drizzle on ice cream without compromising on sweetness or flavor. read more

ORO Di Oliva is a nice store inside the Public Market. They sell a huge variety of olive oils from Spain, Italy and Greece as well as flavored balsamic vinegars; apricot, honey ginger and lemon to name a few. They let you taste test the products so you can gauge what you like. The service is excellent and the lady helping us was very friendly and helpful. The store is small but don't let that fool you. As you go around the the back there's so many more choices! They also sell accessories like bottles, bottle pourers and other items. Yes, it's more expensive. It's also a GREAT local specialty store. Have fun mixing and matching different oils and balsamics. Get great gifts. Ask for the recipes. Ask for vacuum seal if you're traveling by air. Talk to the people working there. They're always helpful. I found a few great vinaigrettes here! The staff are helpful with making recommendations, and giving recipes. They had me sample a few things and based on my feedback, recommended other things to try and not to try. It was nice to not have to sample to whole store! My dislike is that the bottles are not suited for drizzling or pouring easily. You'll have to switch bottles or buy a topper. I think that's a little unfair given the prices of the goods. read more

Support local! And this place is a lot of fun! Trying all the oils and balsamics, it's like testing out a bunch of perfumes, but better cause you can taste! I tried a bunch on my visit here. And I was overdue since I have never stopped in during my many, many visits to the public market. I just don't usually notice it, it's kind of in the corner. But, this last time I went for a class upstairs on balsamic (and oil) and they gave us a coupon to use, so, it made sense to stop down after the cooking class. It was really fun trying all of the flavors: harissa, herbed, all kinds of fruits of balsamic, etc. There are little disposable cups so you can taste to your hearts content! I went home with two olive oils: butter (mmm, yes butter) and tuscan herb, which I liked more than the other herb as this one I could taste garlic and the other one was heavier on the thyme. Also took home a lovely lemon balsamic. It's something that would even work in a drink or cocktail, really nice and refreshing! Not sure what I'm going to do with it, but it was too good not to buy. read more

Why, it's the *biz-nasty, my friends. *For those of you offended/annoyed by my loose and somewhat "disrespectful" use of the English language, I'll re-tool my last statement: Oro Di Oliva is a unique and delightful little oil and vinegar shop located in the Milwaukee Public Market. They actually boast three locations - all locally-owned - and specialize in olive oils and vinegars ranging from your standard fresh-pressed olive oil to blood orange, tuscan herb, basil, and oh-so many more. (See photos I've uploaded to Yelp's business listing for a better idea of the set-up, but trust me... they've got you covered.) Being a not-so-secret "sour"-loving vinegar freak I'm almost more excited by the vast array of vinegar options available here. (I know my palate, y'all, and I know what kind of acid I like. It's not the tripping kind, either. That stuff scares me.) A lovely aged 16-year old Balsamic? Of course. But I'm willing to bet you didn't think about varietals such as cranberry pear, lavender, lemongrass mint, or raspberry, now did you? (You may have thought of raspberry, and as well you should as raspberry vinaigrette is pretty popular; but here it's pure and devine and makes for a lovely dressing when paired with a basic, fresh olive oil). The cherry on top? The staff is not only terribly knowledgable about their products, but they're excited to have you taste and try for yourself. I left ODO with a bit of a stomachache because I was hungry and olive oil/vinegar pairings do not constitute "food." Ask me how much I cared though, because, well... wow. Interesting pairings, interesting conversation, and the more you know means the more you gift thoughtfully and buy quality ingredients locally. So much to love about Oro, but first you need to find it. The Milwaukee Public Market location is a little off the main path. It's directly north of the Nehring Fruit Market. Upon entering your senses will be blissful and perhaps confused by so very many wonderful scents. Salespeople are usually plentiful and eager to offer you samples on any of the oils and vinegars on hand. Taste them. Enjoy then. I'm guessing that you've never considered tasting the olive oil in your kitchen right now. But once you taste than, and then taste Oro you will never go back. The bright acidity and slight tartness of each batch of olives shines through. Pay special attention to the Gremolata ($14/200ml - $30/750ml) . It's a pure imported olive oil infused with layers of flavor from traditional Italian herbs. The front of your palate will be awakened by fresh and vibrant lemon zest, followed by the robust green tates of Italian flat leaf parsley. And each sip will close with a little zing of mint at the end to bring things together very nicely. On the vinegar side, the perennial star is the 18 Year Old Balsamic ($15/200ml - $32/750ml). This rich and think vinegar originates from Modena, Italy where it is aged in hardwood barrels that enhance the base flavors of figs, honey and raisins. The Oro website sites that this vinegar "will change your life", at the very least it will change they way you approach cooking. Oro D'Oliva is brand new to the Public Market. You might think this is a chain but it's actually locally owned with just a few locations - this one, Bayshore and Tosa Village. I usually buy my olive oil at Trader Joes but decided it's probably time to upgrade to something decent. The staff here is extremely helpful and knowledgeable - they can suggest pairings of oil and vinegar based on what you like or whether you want something for cooking or as a garnish oil. Everything is in urns where you can sample, so you're certain that you like the taste. I left with a basic aged balsamic, a good quality cooking oil, a Tuscan infused oil and a small bottle of white truffle oil. In addition, they stocked me up with recipe cards specific to what I had bought. Prices aren't bad. Bottles from here would make a great hostess gift or a nice addition to your cooking pantry. Definitely worth a stop. read more

Highly recommend! On a day trip to Milwaukee from Chicago we came across Oro Di Olivia. I initially bought a bottle of the Raspberry Balsamic along with a small set that included Garlic Olive oil and Sicilian Lemon Balsamic. I immediately became obsessed with these for for salads so decided to place an order to have more flavors shipped to my home. I was amazed when I placed the order yesterday late afternoon to have been surprised when it delivered to my home less than 24 hours later. What caught my attention even more was the level of detail put into the packaging of the products to ensure they shipped safely. Every product we have tried so far has been amazing, staff is friendly and overall great customer service. Will be ordering again soon. read more

Super fancy olive oils and balsamic vinegars. These places are usually great, but the woman working here during our visit was giving us the SUPER hard sell. Step back, woman. Let us taste. We'll buy. She even jumped on us when we dipped our fingers into the cups to taste. "DON'T PUT YOUR FINGER IN THERE!" What? "Your finger can change the taste. Just drink it." Sheez, woman. Calm down. My go to place for flavored olive oil and vinegar! The first time I went there, it felt like a hidden gem because it's tucked away in the back of the Milwaukee Public Market. The associate was extremely helpful and encouraged me to mix and taste test flavored oils. She gave me a booklet on their most popular mixes. I ended up buying Mango Coconut Balsamic Vinegar. It's great on salads and salmon! The second time I returned to the vendor, a different associate helped me. However, it was quite the opposite experience. She glared at me when I asked to mix oils, and rudely told me that was not store policy. I felt embarrassed and left in a weird mood, but not before buying their truffle oil. It's great in soups! I'm hoping I caught her on an off day or something, hence the five star rating. Regardless of that one encounter, I am still a customer there! This place was pretty awesome. At first I thought it was just olive oil so you can imagine my surprise as I found out that it was vinegar too. I thoroughly enjoyed walking around and trying a lot different vinegars. I was imagining what type of salad each would taste good on. I would say hands down my favorite is the strawberry followed closely by the 18 year. The olive oils thought were gross, I didn't find a single one I liked. I don't remember the name but the second to the left tasted like it was rancid. Unlock another reviewer we didn't get harassed by employees, in fact they didn't even speak to us. One lady was on her phone and the other was chatting with a guy at the register. (we were in there a good 15 mins or so). I liked that because I don't like feeling pressured. This store changed the way I cook - literally a culinary mind-blowing experience when I tasted (then cooked) with their oils and balsamic. Deep robust flavors for citrus based oils and vinegars, earthy nuttiness in their nut and seed oils and magic in their other blends. Get the stamp card and look for Groupons so you can buy more. It's addictive! Because of their products I cook healthier. Sometimes vegetables need "zhuzzing up" - and their stuff is great on roasted, steamed and grilled veggies. A drizzle of their lemon oil over fish is amazing. I no longer buy bottled marinades or salad dressings - this is all you need! I wish they'd open one up in Kenosha because I'd love to work part time there - seriously love their product that much. All they need to snow is a decorative rack to store their bottles because I have so many! read more

Um..... so olive oil is just olive oil right? Balsamic vinegar is just balsamic right? NOPE! This place has proved that just like wine, balsamic vinegar can taste amazing and have so many different nuances to its flavor. Not sure if I can go back to plain old balsamic from the grocery store anymore. Would highly recommend if you are in the are to come in for a taste. You can taste as many as you like and the staff are very nice-- they helped us make cool combinations of oil and vinegar that were delicious. We also got some recipes from the sales person there. So even if you don't want to buy anything persay, come in for a sample and you might change your mind! I was a little hesitant on spending almost 20 dollars on a bottle of balsamic (I got the aged orginal which I liked the best and found the most versatile) but it's very worth it-- still using it in in all my salads and other sauces. The flavor is just so rich and deep with a hint of sweetness. read more

Thoroughly passionate. Oro Di Olivia's entire set up is based around an obsession around quality oils (mainly of the olive variety, though they do offer walnut and even the decadent truffle-laced variety as well) and vinegars. It sounds simple, but as a few of us found out on a recent stop by one Sunday morning, it is anything but a simple product. Combinations of flavored oils and vinegars run into the dozens, and once you get one of the amazingly vibrant and excited employees going, you'll surely taste quite a few of them- and be blown away basically every time. I'm not about to proclaim myself as an expert on olive oil or balsamic vinegar, but after sitting through this session, I walked away with not only an appreciation for great quality oils and vinegars which as I found out aren't unreasonably expensive. As good as the sales pitch around buying this product there as opposed to a retail grocer was, it was the product and the intriguing combinations that had me thinking right away that this is a business that deserves a full five stars. If you make it to the amazing Milwaukee Public Market- set aside a solid 20 minutes to taste some of these recommended combinations. Learn about the quality of the oils. Walk away with an appreciation of the product. Become jealous of the staff's passion for the product they represent and the professional way they showcase it. The only thing I'm that into is soccer, and that makes me a dork, while these people come across as knowledgeable and interesting. read more

If you told me 20 years ago I would spend $15 on Olive Oil in 2013, these 3 statements/ questions would come up- 1. They're making licensed Popeye action figures? 2. Why the hell would I buy Olive Oil, instead of Popeye, Bluto or my personal hero, Wimpy? 3. Action figures cost $15? I only started using Olive Oil about 5 years back, now I love it. With the first steps I take into the Milwaukee Public Market, I run into a beautiful little store with a ton of different oils and vinegars. This place is an upscale little place where you can sample a ton of different flavored Olive Oils and vinegars and buy what you like. The smallest size (750 mL I believe) will run you $15 a piece, but they are worth every penny. To the woman who said she didn't think anyone enjoyed "the feel of straight oil on your tongue", I crushed about a dozen of these tasty oil samples before it felt like BP drilled a shoddy pipeline in my mouth. And when I say this place is upscale, I mean it. This made me extremely happy with the service. Let me explain further. My "look" isn't really suited for upscale. My appearance can best be described as Zach Galifianakis meets Sheldon Cooper meets Eminem meets The Brooklyn Brawler. I'm a jeans and T-shirt guy, so much to the point that when I put on one of my expensive sports jerseys, my wife asks me "What are you getting all dressed up for?" Normally when I step foot into anything close to upscale, if I'm not getting asked to leave I'm getting dirty looks. When we walked in, two other couples who looked like they could spend a few hundred followed us in, but one of the kind employees was nice enough to take us around, show us their wares and provide samples of some of their featured products. 5 stars for customer service alone. We started leaning towards the 18 year balsamic, but couldn't find a good oil to match up for a vinaigrette. The employee suggested the Tuscan Herb, and she couldn't have made a better choice. She thoroughly answered any and all questions I had. I may be a cheapskate, but I will pay good money for a quality product, and these oils and vinegars are on the top of my list. read more

A wonderful little store that recently opened in The Milwaukee Public Market. They have a nice selection of Olive Oils and Vinegars and you can taste them all! After sampling several things I decided on an 18 year Balsamic Vinegar and a slightly peppery unflavored Olive Oil. The Staff is very knowledgeable and obviously loves their product. When walking past, I thought it was a tea store. But it's not! It's Olive Oil & Balsamic. I was very surprised to see the vast selection of flavors for both. Not only that, but you can taste test! The lady that was working was very knowledgeable and willing to mix up samples of different flavors with no pressure. I actually ended up buying lemon olive oil to mix with a fig balsamic. I didn't think I would like the lemon, but it actually paired really nicely with the fig balsamic. We got to talking about salad dressings and I mentioned how I like sweet dressings like poppy-seed. She mixed me up the lemon and fig and I knew I had to get some. She also gave me other ideas to use the lemon oil for. I would definitely go back. Once I had Oro di Oliva Balsamic and Olive oil I could never go back to inferior grocery store vinegars and oils. It's like when I had good coffee for the first time, I was hooked and never drank grocery store coffee again. So now I'm a V & O snob and coffee snob. Service is always outstanding and product speaks for itself. I keep a variety on hand, but my staple is of couse the 18 year old Balsamic which I love on watermelon and strawberries. I have shopped at this store several times and must say that they have an exceptional assortment of high quality infused olive oils and vinegars. The urns are set up to allow independent tasting, but the salespeople are overly attentive. I like to taste and savor and imagine how I might pair and utilize my oils and vinegars. I find it impossible to concentrate on the flavors at Oro because the staff constantly badger. Worse, they talk down to their customers, presuming them to lack sophistication it seems to me. Not everyone needs to be told what to pair. Advice is great, but most people will ask for advice if they need or want it. The staff are knowledgable, but I imagine that I am not the only experienced cook who finds their "help" most unhelpful. You've probably guessed by now that I won't shop there after today. read more

If I was rich I would order gallons worth of the lavender balsamic vinegar and the jalapeño olive oil and drink them instead of juice. For me, vinegar is typically the necessary evil. It makes things taste better, but on its own...no thanks. It's like mayonnaise or butter....always makes other things taste better. This changed everything. Every vinegar I tasted was better than the last and they were all sooooo good. Like high quality juice syrup. And such exquisite service. Helpful and positive. I have never really been into cooking. As I get older I am trying new things and I came upon this gem via Groupon. I bought one, thinking I would come in and just try a bottle or two of pre-packaged olive oils. That is not at all the case in this store. First of all, I got a quick education in oil and vinegar. The staff was amazing even though it was a very busy Saturday morning. The woman who worked with me gave me everything to try, mixed them together, and not only that told me how to use them. She also gave me several recipes for the items that I bought. She spent a fair amount of time with me, explaining differences in things and how to use them. She did not try to up-sell me at all (which is something I really hate). I left there very excited to try all the new products I bought. I left there with 3 bottles and will be back this week for more. I will say that the cork on one of the bottles got stuck in the bottle. I emailed right away and they will be replacing it for me when I go back. They were very helpful and understanding and quick to fix the problem. I'm very sorry that I did not find this place sooner. The raspberry balsamic is making great additions to my salads already and the garlic olive oil has made my chicken taste amazing. I paired the garlic olive oil with the honey ginger balsamic and got a a really nice nearly asian taste out of it as well. read more

I don't believe anyone really enjoys the feel of straight oil on their tongue. However, I willingly participate in 'research' periodically. Olive oil shops have become somewhat of a trend and I like it. I was pleasantly surprised by the shop staff. They were friendly and very knowledgeable. Surprisingly, for a retail outfit of almost any kind, they even applied basic sales concepts...they asked what I liked and offered good suggestions. The shop offers oils and vinegars and encourages taste testing. The vinegars are interesting and super fun to try. You have to be in the mood to taste oil, but they offer some interesting ones and they are all better than most grocery store finds. They also offer truffle oil in teeny bottles. Everything is pretty pricey, but I enjoy it, the quality is pretty good, and you aren't required to purchase anything if you want to taste test!! read more
