It's just extremely congested and sometimes too busy inside. Cleanliness can be an issue for some but for the most part I'm buying vegetables and fruit and that's enough for me. I used to take my knives to be sharpened in this area but this review is just for the vendors I shopped at. I needed papaya, fresh vegetables and fruits. I saw many vendors that share the same items so sooner or later if you become a regular you will have your favorite vendor you will lean towards. They have vendors that sell already prepared mainly Filipino foods and desserts. They have vendors that sell you fresh fish and seafood as well as fresh meats. I always go to farmers market but I decided to start shopping here. It's convenient for what I was looking for. I see I can buy seasonings and noodles (dry packets) as well as many other things. I will return again when I'm running low on stuff. The prices aren't terrible but not that inexpensive either. You can find some bargain vegetables that aren't pretty but for $1 a piece it's good if you're using them up that day. I say try and go around and see what you can find. Plenty of convenient parking. Nearby outside there's Kamehameha bakery, sugoi'a and other eateries. Nearby is Costco and Costco gas and Home Depot so you can't go wrong.

Some vendors even have $1 bags of off-grade produce. This helps especially when you just need a small quantity of something or you just want to try something new. The market is open Saturdays 8a-12p. We arrived around 8:15a and had no trouble finding parking in the lot although it's pretty rocky (hopefully they'll pave it someday). Going early also helped us beat the crowds & the heat. One of our first stop was Joja & watched him make burgers. We also picked up some salted macadamia toffee from Almond Tree and it was so good! We bought a couple containers for gifts! The highlight was Sugah Papi Farms. We got a fresh fruit bowl and the ladies selling were so friendly! The fruit was incredibly sweet, especially the papaya mango and lychee. The gentleman cutting the fruit was amazing to watch. His knife skills were seriously impressive and watching him prepare the fruit was part of the experience. Get a fruit bowl and take a minute to watch him work! I love supporting local vendors who take pride in providing high-quality produce and products. We left with several bags, happy stomachs and looking forward to coming back!!

The farmers market itself is great! A good variety of food and drinks and prices not too too bad for a touristy area. Venders all seemed to have smiles on their faces which added to the ambiance. Service was great too. We enjoyed mochi waffles, pasta, tiger milk (boba tea inspired)-- all delicious. My husband also enjoyed his Indian Asian fusion steamed potstickers.

One of my fondest childhood memories is going to Tamashiro Market with my dad…read more When we lived in Kalihi, this was our usual spot. And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display. Back then when you were allowed to sample a grape or poke to make sure it was good before buying. But more than that, it was time with him. I still remember the excitement I felt when I saw the pink building with the huge crab. I thought back then was to look at everything but now I understand that it meant something more..... something special--time with my dad. It's with a sad heart that Tamishiro Market is now closed. Thank you, Tamashiro, for providing quality food and memories for so many years. You were more than a market--you were part of my childhood

There are many vendors inside of the air conditioned market and even more stalls right outside the market's doors - all along the wall! Just take your time and compare prices. Bring tote bags ...and cash for better bargaining power! Remember that metered street parking is free on Sundays and holidays. If you're early, you can get free parking on King Street. They have a big selection of grocery items from Vietnamese, Taiwanese, Chinese, Thai and more. The main ones they import from are the ones I mentioned. There's only 2 places on the island that I know of that you can get these vegan Asian meats, which is so delicious, healthy with nature soy,m fibers, and has far less sodium and preservatives than the American beyond meat veg options. (Though I enjoy those to make western dishes from time to time) The customer service here is very nice. They don't have staff walking around the store, but at checkout they are so nice and friendly, and always help you bag your items. Highly recommend! Amazing!
