I used to enjoy going there because of the close location to my house but after today no more. I always use a coupon for an oil change. I've done this a dozen times. This time the person checking me in says, "So the synthetic oil change for $74.95, right?" I say no, the standard oil change for $22 with my coupon. He tells me that it's manufacture recommend to use synthetic oil. I tell him no one has ever told me that in the past. After his crappy attitude the manager mumbles something about "use the coupon rate." The manager knows who I am and has helped me at least 6 times when I get an oil change. I had an appointment at 11am. I always make an appointment. I drop the car off at 10:50. I come back at 12:15 and was told they still hadn't started and I need new windshield wipers. I had a flat tire. I called one day prior to my appointment on June 5 2020. I checked in at 12:50 for 1:00 Pm appointment and Mr. Robert at the front office checked me in and enquiry about my visit again and asked for the tire number. I was surprised as I already gave that information but anyhow gave him the information again and after checking on his system he said that he doesn't have that tire and checked with another shop. He told me that his guy is already there and can get the tire within 40 minutes. I waited for more than an hour and the job was not done. The only good thing this place has going for it is the new waiting area. Which serves as a distraction so you don't realize how long you've been waiting only to see that your car hasn't been looked at yet. I went in for an oil change and was told it would be about an hour wait which I was prepared for. After an hour and a half my car was still sitting in the parking lot. I asked the cashier how much longer and she proceeded to chat with the other employees in the shop for 5 minutes before walking back in the waiting area. I asked for my keys and left. No apology from her. She was probably glad to have 1 less car to worry about. There was another guy just standing around in the shop who I'm sure could manage to change my oil. Bottom line is this is a chain repair shop and they could care less about you. Check the reviews of the other locations in Bakersfield and you'll see the same trend. I recently went in to this pep boys location to get a set of new tires. I was explaining to the lady at the front desk that I wanted to get tires that are larger than the ones I had on originally. While I was explaining to her what I wanted another employee walked in and heard the conversation and said they wouldn't fit. I was willing to pay any extra charges they might have to make the tires fit but they just shut me down and I felt they were just glad to get another from being in the shop. So I went to my car and called AMERICAN TIRES ON GOSFORD RD. across from Walmart and there friendly staff helped me out quickly and did what ever they can to fit the tire size I wanted that was true customer service. read more

This pepboys is nice! There weren't a lot of people at this location. I called ahead to all the other pepboys in town and this one wasn't as busy as the other ones on a Friday afternoon. The waiting room had air conditioning, a Keurig coffee maker with cups, a water filter machine, and comfortable seats and a tv. Restrooms were also available. I would recommend! read more

So today I took our BMW X3 to PepBoys for a simple oil change. After about 30 minutes, the service writer comes up and says, "Your car does not have a dip stick. So we can't do the oil change as we don't know how much oil to put in." My old 2008 BMW 328i did not have a dip stick and no one had a problem with it. On the Good side. Inaccurate quote time, inadequate customer service, and poor communication left me disappointed with this shop. I went in for 4 new tires and an oil change which took much longer than expected and was not informed when they decided not to change the front brake pads as originally requested. Daniel was particularly unhelpful. I am always pleased with the f street location and will make the drive over there from now on. Update: when my car was returned it wouldn't start and the manager won't see me. The starter is not engaging but was apparently able to start in the test drive they performed and was replaced less than 2 years ago. All my son went for was for a quote on break service, it turned out to be a nightmare. The woman up at the front desk told him one story and later on, someone else tells a different story on what service was done for the car or what was going to be needed. The so-called lady up at the front desk said something about not moving the car out of the garage because of the brakes condition, my son had two choices is what the lady was telling him, one get it towed out of their garage or have the work done there. So I called them on the phone as my son was on hold and someone else tells me they were just putting everything back together of the car so that they could give the car back, he told me the condition of the brakes and he said nothing about getting it towed out of their garage or not liable if anything happens to my sons car. Not professional service what so ever, Those two idiots need to get their story straight next time. And for the record they will not be receiving our business ever again. I dislike Raoul's attitude it's almost like I do what he wants or nothing at all. It's like I'm wasting his time. He gives off the feeling like he doesn't really want to work there. Although he's very nice and professional unlike Raoul I'm unsure if Daniel knows what he's doing he gave me an estimated time that my car would be done and when I came to pick it up my car wasn't done and still on the floor I wish they had more employees like Bea she's nice professional and from what I've seen from waiting her customers are more satisfied than I and those who are helped by the other two. read more

I made my appointment on line a day in advance. Here I sit my appointment was at 1pm it is now 1:52 and my truck is still in the parking lot never moved. All I need is an oil change and tire rotation(45 mins tops usually) When I came in I waited 15 mins to even be greeted. One worker busy on phone other busy flerting with customer (chit chatting) Once I was aknowledged I was scolded (service tech) said you made appointment on line it is best if you call and make sure the time you booked is a good time for us. Wow! Why have booking online if it is not correct. To me as a coustomer that is the problem of the company offering the service not me as the coustomer. I was only taking advantage of a offered service. Not real happy; pretty sad as I am a loyal regular customer for more then 15 years. I've never used yelp before and I had to write a review about this place. I had gotten my oil changed because it was that time of year. I waited 5 hours because my plug was broken and they had to get me a new one. The same night my car started leaking oil. I went back a few days later and told the man who was working about the leak. He told me that it could have something to do with the A/C because my panel was soaked. (My A/C works. My dad and I checked the fluid for the A/C. There wasn't any water, instead just oil.) I told the man that my car has not been leaking oil before hand and that there's no way something could have broken within a few days. He told me that he could repair it for a quote, and I asked him, how is that fair? My car hasn't been leaking oil in the last six months, I got my oil changed and now it's leaking. Maybe it does have something else to do with my car and it's causing the leak. So they put silicon over the new cap they had bought for it. My car is no longer leaking, however I can't have silicon on my car forever. He told me that he would call us, he didn't. My dad and I went back together because he wanted to talk to the guy himself. The man was extremely demeaning towards not only me but to my dad. He would not explain the real problem and kept telling us that he could repair it for a quote. (Which there was nothing to repair, before I got my oil changed. A car doesn't just leak oil right after a new plug is put in.) Finally, he gave us a card and told us, "If you feel like we have done you wrong, then call this number on the card." This will be the last time I ever use Pep Boys, because they were unhelpful and caused more harm than good. read more

I called this white lane location at 9am to explain what was wrong with my car and insure they could service my it... I dropped off my car at 11:50am on a Thursday, and AGAIN explained that I needed a oil change, and that the car has been SPILLING OUT oil. and that it was more than a minor leak, that I had puddles of oil in my driveway.... I told her I had the coupon for the oil service, oil filter, tire pressure check and tire rotation. I called at 2:15 and "BEE" tells me that they are just driving it onto the bay, she will call me when they know how to fix to the leak. 3:45pm call AGAIN! "Bee" tells me the car is finished...???.... I asked her what the problem was, she places me on hold, then retrieves the line to ask me what I brought it in for.... seriously?..... I told her I brought it in to fix a oil leak, change the oil, and rotate the tires.... she said give her a minute and she will call me back, its now almost 4:30 and still not a word! This is absolutely terrible customer service, I bet they just changed my oil and didn't even pay attention that it was just leaking back out all over there parking lot! read more
