Some time after, I noticed a small oil drip. At that point, it was never even fully determined whether it was something they did or simply a failed seal on our end -- and honestly, it was probably a part failure. What happened next is what truly sets this company apart. Michael, the owner, personally called me and handled the situation with professionalism and integrity. Because the line wasn't entirely clear on whether the issue was a failed part or something related to the service, he took ownership of making it right. His focus was on standing behind the work, doing right by the customer, and building a long-term relationship -- not pointing fingers. They went way above and beyond. Kia is notorious for requiring OEM parts (aftermarket just won't work properly), so they had to track down a specific part. Michael and his team called multiple Kia dealerships, pulled strings, and somehow managed to get the part the same day, even though we were originally told it could take several days. That alone was impressive. They repaired the vehicle immediately -- and the next morning, Michael and his father personally delivered the car to my house. His father has over 40 years of experience working on vehicles and plays an active role in overseeing the work, which really shows. The two of them together are an impressive team. In conversation, I mentioned to Michael that part of my work involves helping businesses think through customer experience, and we talked about what it looks like to truly take care of people. The hardest time to do that is when it costs the business owner money. This repair did cost him money -- and he still did the right thing without hesitation. Unlike other places, they dried and vacuumed my car. However, I have a friend who opened a car wash closer to our home. I drive by it at least 20 times per week. This is not the case with Pal's. I assume that the costs are about the same. I always choose the cheapest price. At his car wash, the car owner dries and vacuums the car. Having said this, I understand that Pal's has changed owners. If this is true, things may have changed. I had made an appointment to have my foggy headlights covers cleaned. They were recommended to me by a trusted friend. I realized that I could not make the appointment, and as a courtesy to them, attempted to notify them that I could not make it. I phoned them, using the number supplied, only to discover it was disconnected. One of the reviewers complained that her dash "change oil" light came on two weeks after they changed the oil. This is a very common occurrence and has often happened to me. The light came on because the technician didn't re-set the code. The code re-set is easy to do and is explained in the auto manual. However, regardless of where you take your car, the technicians often forget to do so. Before leaving the bay, I make sure they change it. I believe in giving folks a chance to make me happy, often giving them more than one chance. This is especially true if the business is under new ownership or management. Plus, I want to see as many young people employed as possible. After all, they are paying my Social Security.

So, obviously, i called my dad in hysterics wondering what i should do. I met up w my dad and we took it to a Sam's Club tire department where they assured me my tires were in good condition. Fast forward a year later (Jan 2016) I've been driving on the same tires and didn't have a single issue. Came back to the same Firestone for another oil change with the same tires as last year and the cashier rings me up for my oil change, no mention or trying to scare sell me on new tires. Go figure.

I knew it was the alternator that went. The mechanic at Firestone called me and said that the alternator and battery went bad. (Battery was fine, never a problem. He also said that oil was leaking on the alternator, which was BS. Said total would be $2900 to fix. I said do the alternator and battery only. He got upset, said didn't know if I would start stalling again, but finally agreed. Charged me $1600 for a battery and alternator. I called my mechanic and asked what it should cost, they said around $1000. The first rip off. After I paid and left, my car started stalling while idling, something it never did before. Stalled for my wife in traffic. I took a look and found a hole in the air intake hose right by the battery, which is why it was stalling. Repaired the hose, no more stalling. Either the mechanic didn't see the hole, which he should be looking for if the car stalled out, or more likely the scenario, he was mad I didn't fall for the full rip off he was offering and popped a hole in my air intake to make the car stall again. It never hesitated or stalled during idle before this mechanic touched it. It only stalled while driving on the highway at 70 mph because the alternator went bad. Therefore, my opinion, the mechanic set it up for my car to stall. Of course I can't prove it, but thought I would share the rip off story for you to make your own decision.

Earlier today, April 16, 2026, while driving from Cartersville to Marietta, my vehicle overheated and the radiator hose burst. I had the car towed to Firestone in Dunwoody, Georgia, where an inspection confirmed that the coolant cap was missing. As a result, I now face over $1,000 in repairs for a new upper radiator hose and thermostat. Valvoline was the only provider to perform service under the hood of my car in the last 30 days. Despite this, the shop manager has denied my claim.
