Made our first road trip to Corpus Christi over the July 4th weekend in a recently purchased 2014 Jeep Wrangler. As (good) luck would have it, the vehicle started over heating just after we arrived, vs somewhere on the highway in the middle of nowhere. Not only was PepBoys open on the holiday, Juan and his mechanics were able to get me in at 8:00am, have the issue diagnosed by 9:15, order and replace a new radiator and get me out the door by 4:00 pm, saving what I thought was going to be a miserable holiday weekend getaway. Expensive? Not considering we still enjoyed the complete vacation itinerary, and didn't have to extend the trip waiting on parts or service. Because of a previous home residence relocation, I hadn't visited a PepBoys in quite some time. Went in a few months back to get work done on a water pump. They quoted me a ridiculously high price. I looked up the quote they gave me online and it was 50% over the normal cost for both labor and parts. Went to the dealership and paid a way lower price. Watch out for these guys they can be very predatory because they are open late nights and on weekends. They also let me know that their veterans discount was reduced from 10% to 5% lol They franchise now so they can change anything they want. read more

Took my patherfinder to get brakes check they told me I never been there to get my brakes done. And that the car i bought them to fix is a 2014 nissan Moreno. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. In an attempt to keep my mileage down on my lease (it's due back soon), I have started to drive my old truck again. What had not occured to me until the other evening is that the battery had corroded while sitting in my driveway for so long. After a roadside assistance jump to get home, and then another the next morning, it was time to get it replaced before an important meeting at work. I needed it done fast, efficiently, and at a nominal cost. In comes Pep Boys to the rescue! I have used their services many times over the years at multiple locations across the state. Never been dissapointed. This instance was no exception. The representative who both took my call and checked me in, Isabel, was such a pleasure. She even made accomodations for me to work remotely in the lobby and drink coffee while I waited. Going above and beyond, for sure! Update July 2023 About a week after the last incident I got a text and email saying my car was ready for pickup. They didn't even have my car. I was asked to give a review and if I wanted to be contacted. I said yes. 3 weeks later no one has reached out. I mean why would they, right? Can't explain what they don't have an answer for. I hope others are careful and get a second opinion before having anything done. June 2023 Due to the great experience last year I went back since my AC had gone out again. I dropped off my car at 7:30a. By 1:30p I hadn't heard anything and called for an update. I was told "there is a freon leak and it was so bad we've just been cleaning it up this whole time and didn't have time to find where the leak was. Also our tech had a family emergency and left early so we won't be able to fix it today. You can leave it here tomorrow but we don't know if he'll be back." Took it to another shop for a 2nd opinion. I was told it's full of freon with no leaks and that it's the compressor that isn't fully working. So then what was Pep Boys doing the entire time with my car if there wasn't a freon leak? They wouldn't have refilled it with freon if there was a leak, and if they did for some reason they didn't charge me. Also there obviously isn't a leak because days later it's still full of freon. I'm blown away with how I was blatantly lied to and can't imagine why. If you didn't get a chance to look at my car, just say so. I can't imagine why else they would lie like that. Without a doubt some hardworking and dedicate people here. I originally took my Excursion in for a new alternator with no appointment and a tight deadline. They outperformed and had me back on the road at noon. Some time later I needed new wheel hub on driver side. Once again had me on the road the following morning. Week from then, I asked them to replace the passenger wheel hub. Unfortunately more than the hub needed replacement. Needless to say, they worked on my truck for 7 days straight and came into work on their days off. Without taking shortcuts and ensuring that my truck would be done correctly. I have a tremendous amount of respect for these people and very thankful for their hospitality. I highly recommend coming here. It's hard finding mechanics or people for that matter, that take pride in their work. Tried calling the store told the manager what happened he didn't say anything then transferred me to another line. I got fed up and just hung up. This has got to be the most unorganized & unprofessional auto repair shop I have ever been to. I went in for a simple oil change but never got it done. I was told it would be 45 minutes to get the car in & had no problem with that. Over an hour later & they pulled the car in & put it up on the lift. 30 minutes later the car was still on the lift while the technician was on a computer. I asked if they had drained the oil & he said no. He then tells me he doesn't have paperwork so he didn't know what to do. So I asked him to just bring me my car. He did ask if I would bring it back some other time. This is what I observed. The two technicians stood around talking or working on one car together, when working. Most of the time they were inside talking with other employees & kidding around. Did not seem to listen to the person working up the vehicles. The person at the counter was very frustrated & was talking to himself saying, "this place is so unorganized". I felt bad for the kid. I will never go back to this place & I would discourage everyone else to do the same. This place needs to fire its service management along with the technicians & get people in there that give a crap about their jobs. read more

I had to replace tires while in from out of town. Amanda at the service desk is a piece of work. I dropped off my car at 11:30 and it was an estimated 2 1/2 hour wait for 2 new tires. I came in at 4:30pm and she picks up my work order from the back of the stack and said "oh I forgot, do you still want it done?" Unacceptable service levels, I just hope the quality of work is better than the level of service. UPDATE- After left and arrived at a relatives house and realized that they put both New tires in the front. Even the poster in the waiting room ... which I had many hours to read...highlighted the safety issues of putting 2 new tires in the front. I had to go back and get that fixed and now the alignment is off... poor service, poor quality and employees don't care. read more

My family and I have been going to this location for almost 3 decades.The staff and automotive mangers were ... use to be always very knowledgeable and informative to not only us but to every single customer that was ever around us . They always made it a point to acknowledge the customers with Hi , we will be right with you or it will be a few mins please have a seat in the lobby area ( which now unfortunately is never clean or stocked ) and we will be right with you . In the past 6 months everything has gone down . Customer Service is almost non-existent now. Sure they say Hi once you get to the counter but after they take your car back you may as well just stand in front of their face so you can get an update . A horrible experience that I wouldn't wish on anyone. First, I had to wait until today to post this review because I had a $60 rewards certificate to spend before I can never go back there again. It started on October 14, 2018. My rear right light was out and I had to get my safety inspection to get my vehicle registered. Also, my power steering fluid had been leaking for a while. Making this story shorter is that it took 3 hours to give me a diagnosis then the rest of the day to fix the problems without informing me so I waited all day Saturday and they had to change the whole oil pan too. Over $1000+. If it was done, that would be fine. But I noticed all of my lights were now not working in the back. I brought it back on Sunday and after getting having someone from the service department confirm the lights were out, I waited all Sunday to have them tell me they could not find the problem and charge me $162 anyways. Nice and safe to have to drive home in the dark. Not safe at all. Had to take uber until I got an appointment at a local jeep dealership and they found the problem. Just feel I wasted a whole weekend at this OP boys with no warning. That's fine because I did get some things fixed and learned a valuable life lesson. read more

On a road trip, I stopped here last night when my battery wouldn't hold a charge. On the phone, they said they couldn't get to checking it until near 8pm, but would check it that night before close. I got there at 5:30 and they had it done by 6:30! Great! But, I needed an alternator replaced and they couldn't do that until "First thing in the morning" and it would take two hours. They open at 7:30AM. I called at 8:00AM and they said the guy to replace the alternator wouldn't be in until 9 and it would take two hours. At 10:30 they said he was working on it and it would take two hours. It was finally done at 12:50, a full 3 hours after the first estimate of 2 hours. They do not rush. In that short time I was treated so rudely, as if I was inconveniencing them and they could care less about my business. I mean cold and rude. Interestingly, this was my first time in Corpus Christi. I was told it would be a hour and 45 minute wait and it seemed to be said as if to deter me from getting the inspection done today. I left my truck to be inspected and was called about 30 minutes later saying they could not do the inspection because their system went down. What a coincidence. Anyways I'm new to Corpus and looking for a place to service my truck. By taking it to your place of business you have the opportunity to gain a new costumer. I took my car on Thursday evening to get an oil change then next night the light was on indicating something was going on with the oil I thought I'll take it to get looked at after work the next day (Saturday). Saturday morning I get in my car to head to work, the engine sounded a little louder than usual and when I hit the freeway it got a lot louder. I proceeded to pull over and my engine shut off. The engine was blown. There was no oil in it and the filter was gone. Pep boys has not assumed responsibility. IT'S GOING TO COST $2,120 TO FIX MY CAR! THAT I'M GOING TO HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET SIMCE THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY!!! I've never gone to them before and I will never go to them ever again!!!! Where do I start on my update... after my original review I was contacted by Pep Boys and encouraged to email them about my complaint. I did. I also went to their competitor to purchase the lifetime balance and rotate, same as Pep Boys, but that Pep Boys couldn't deliver. In that process I was informed that those particular tires should never have been installed on that size truck. For liability reasons they would not be able to do ANYTHING to my tires. So now I REALLY have a problem! So let's run-down the list of complaints from the beginning: 3+ hours late past the original appointment to install tires. Installed the wrong tires. 1+ hours late past appointment for rotating those tires 5k miles later. 2+ hours late past the appointment to rotate the tires a second time and never got the truck in the bay. 1/2 hour late past the appointment time to correct their mistake and 2+ hours to get it done. After contacting Pep Boys at THEIR urging and providing the requested details, I received no response after 7 days. They promised no more than 48 hours. I asked if they would be making contact or if I was wasting my time. Again I was promised "senior management" would be in touch. Again, no contact for most of a week. I emailed again and eventually the asst. manager of the store called. He offered to replace the tires with the correct load range tires at no charge and I agreed. The young lady who greeted me was not friendly, actually I can't recall that she actually greeted me. She pretty much just asked what I needed. I explained that I had spoken to the assistant manager and evidently he told her to expect me. She didn't ask for any other details beyond my name and phone number. The asst. manager was equally unpleasant. After telling me on the phone he would personally see to getting my tires installed in a timely manner, then telling me what time was best, my truck sat in the parking lot for 1/2 and hour before getting in the shop, then spent more than 2 hours to mount and balance 4 tires. A running theme for Pep Boys. I asked him about it and he just said "there was a truck already on the rack that we had to finish first", speaking as if I was the idiot for expecting him to hurry and get my truck started. After sitting in the sparsely furnished waiting room listening to soap operas for 2.5 hours I was more than happy to see them finish my truck so I could leave. I am thankful that they corrected the load range problem with new tires. I will still need to rotate those tires and that means paying for that service at Discount Tire, but I'm good with that. Discount has always done good work for me so I guess I got what I deserved for not honoring their good service. read more

Took 45 minutes to get the car even started with no one in front of us and then they decided we had to buy windshield wipers that passed inspection just that morning. I've been here twice on separate weekends with the bays full and my wait was less than 2 hours; today they gave me a ride home after drop off. If you were to ask me why I come here, the only reason why would be that I can't take it to Dubs. Every time I come, something wonky happens. they either can't repair it that day, or they don't call to let you know it's finished... multiple times I have arranged a ride to get my car taken care of, only to be told they don't have the part or they ordered the wrong one. I have also had my ac repaired with a 1 year warranty (an 1800 dollar total purchase) and it failed 20 days after the warranty expired. The deal they gave me was to pay for the parts and they'd cover labor. I ended up spending about 1400 extra dollars. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more
