I showed up for a confirmed 3:00 PM appointment, and while I was standing in line to check in, actually overheard the employee leaving me a voicemail to cancel my appointment. When I spoke up and told him he was literally calling the person standing right in front of him, he still had the audacity to tell me I wouldn't be seen. He tried to blame a "call center" for the mistake, but even after I proved the appointment was made directly on their own website, he didn't care. He flat-out told me that even if I sat there and waited, they wouldn't touch my car today. Why even have a booking system if you're going to treat customers like an inconvenience for showing up on time? Completely unprofessional, lazy, and a total waste of my time. I paid $400 for the part and labor through the family friend and now my vehicle works JUST FINE. They said my car would have been ready yesterday I had it ready Saturday through the family friend. If I could give zero stars, I would. Pep Boys Gainesville (Store #0127) returned my father's 2012 Nissan Titan in a dangerously unsafe condition after brake service that cost over $1,500. Within 49 miles of leaving their shop, the brakes failed again on the highway, causing severe shaking and brake drag. My father, who has medical needs, was forced to tow the truck to Tampa for another $950 (Gainesville promised reimbursement, but never paid). Tampa Pep Boys then charged another $665 for "repairs" that still didn't fix the underlying problem. A third-party inspection later found a missing caliper bolt - a catastrophic oversight that could have caused a crash - as well as warped rotors that had less than 90 miles on them. This was negligence, plain and simple. Pep Boys' regional manager admitted Gainesville was at fault. But Pep Boys corporate has ignored all requests for reimbursement or acknowledgment of their dangerous work. My father's safety meant nothing to them. We are now out over $3,000 for "repairs" that were improperly done and caused serious risk to life and property. If you value your safety, your time, and your wallet, avoid Pep Boys at all costs. Excellent service and the team really cares about safety for their customers. All the services were very affordable. I stopped in for an oil change, which they got done efficiently and they gave me a quote on some other services needed for my vehicle. They worked with me using their online specials and found a good price for four new tires plus brakes. I came back and got those services on a separate day and was able to hear them help multiple other customers that came in with emergencies that they were able to problem solve and get people back on the road safely for a reasonable cost. Often even just inspecting the vehicle for free to help identify the problem so that a solution could be worked out. My daughter was traveling from Florida to Arkansas when her breaks were grinding and needing to be changed. She is very new to traveling and she had family in the car so she made the decision to stop and get the breaks changed. The breaks sounded great for about a day but then went back to the grinding. I have used Pep Boys several times over the years and have only had one issue with them and they were appropriate and rectified that issue. Yesterday I only went in for an oil change but learned I had needed repairs. Eric was nothing but amazing to work with and very knowledgeable. We tried to use the warranty coverage, which they declined because of wording. Unfortunately they denied the claim, but Eric put forth tremendous effort which I truly appreciated. I mean, the only nice thing I can say is that the sales associate who helped us was a nice guy. Otherwise, we won't be going back. We needed a new battery. We made an appointment for the next day at 7 pm. We paid for the battery we wanted online. The next day we get in and wait our turn in line. The nice guy said he'd get to us in a minute. He waited in the person behind us. And on the next customer and the next and the next. I got back in line because it was obvious that the other sales person wasn't going to help the nice guy or us. He pulls up our order and goes off to look for our battery. He can't find it and my heart sinks. The other sales guy says they keep those particular batteries in another area. Finally he gets it, puts it in a buggy and takes our keys to drive around to the garage. Then he goes on to help the next customer... And the next. And the next. And the next while our battery sits next to his register. I look at the single mechanic now working in the garage. He looks pissed. His co-worker has just gone home. E makes a comment to the unhelpful sales guy that he's working on replacing tires. You know, just in case he wanted to know. Sales guy just says yep okay. And we wait. Finally nice guy leaves his register while sales guy is doing whatever he's doing up in the manager's loft thing. He takes our battery to the garage and helps another customer. At some point nice guy goes out and takes care of our battery. It took him 5 minutes to put the battery in. The fact that we had to make an appointment and then wait almost an hour for a 5minute job is stupid. I said the next time just give me the battery I will install it myself. Perhaps earlier in the day they aren't quite so busy. But if you aren't going to honor appointments, don't give people the ability to make them. read more

My boyfriend and I took his BMW in for an alignment and wheel balancing. We were greeted with a friendly welcome ( 1 star) After a 3 hour wait and upon completion of the work, we were told the job came with a warranty and we could take the car to any Pep Boys store if we had any problems . A week later, the car was displaying the same issues. My boyfriend took the car into another Pep Boys in Panama City Beach. This Pep Boys said it was obvious that the first Pep Boys did not align the wheels because they had done work to the front wheels but had clearly NOT touched the rear wheels. As I type this massage I am very upset and unsatisfied with your company I am at a pep boys location in Florida Gainesville I believe where I had showed up at 7:30 this morning in order to get six tires and we're only able to get four because that's all that was available and as of right now it's 10:40AM and they have yet to finish. It is taking them over one hour per tire this is unheard of and not acceptable and I find myself paying more than what I could've got the tires at any tire distributor location in this town discount tire Walmart Firestone so on they are all cheaper and I'm sure much faster. It is no wonder that Pep Boys quality of service and business has went downhill so fast over the years I'm from Oklahoma trying to get back home I cannot believe I've spent four hours to get four tires And I have to pay to much for the tire. Absolutely worst experience ever in a retail!! After writing this review and heading back to Oklahoma I absolutely cannot believe what happens next we maybe went 300 miles away i don't know In the middle of nowhere Mississippi around one in the morning and we have a blowout with one of the new tires the Val stem blew out of the wheel leaving us stranded in the middle of nowhere. To help you understand we had the new tires put on so we would not have a tire problem on our way back to Oklahoma they were installing them on a small class B motorhome with no Jack no lug ranch this would be the reason for new tires. the guy didn't even know how to install the tires and on top of that he did not balance them properly so after spending $50 more dollars to find somebody with a jack and A lug rinch in the middle of the night we finally got back on the road. I highly recommend as a business owner and a customer do not do business with this Pep Boys location they need to be completely revamped trained with proper management not the management they have setting around cutting the bull with each other not concerned with their customers and even their own employees it has been a sad 24 hours. read more

i recently came to this service center because i needed to take a look at my brakes and after them doing a brake inspection they went over what needed to be done , after reviewing everything and the prices the guy showed me 3 pricing options and i decided to go with the more premium option which included premium brake pads and a brake flush and tire rotation, after agreeing and dropping off my car i went and picked it up the next day . when i got to the shop the guy in the office had told me the first person who gave me a quote did a bad job and didn't include other charges and he told me he made the premium brake package into a standard package but claims he still did the premium job and made it a standard package to make it cheaper but at the end of the day the price was more and on paper it says they did a standard brake package so i felt i was being lied too and they did just a standard package and charged me for the premium package . Also the premium package included a brake flush and any complementary service includes a tire rotation, after picking up my car i realized they 1 didn't do the tire rotation and 2 didn't even do the brake fluid flush because when i popped open my hood the fluid still looked dirty , anyone would be upset if they have to pay $700 for them to not even do their job correctly and be overpriced for no reason, i demand someone's response from HR OR CORPORATE. this is so messed up . if you are looking for any type of car service do not come to this pep boys i repeat DO NOT COME TO THIS PEP BOYS SHOP read more

YOU TELL ME: We live 60 miles south but we were in Gainesville for a serious medical appt. As we left the hospital, our 2016 Buick Encore began cutting out at idle and had no pick-up. We made it to Pep Boys hoping they could give us a quick fix to get home. After waiting about 2 hours for a diagnosis, both Eric and Tom met us to give us the results. According to them, after $117 diagnostic cost, we needed a new manifold gasket, new valve cover gasket, and all new o2 sensors, etc. to the tune of $1900. Bearing in mind, we were out-of-towners, we struggled to decide to pay to have it fixed, or nurse the SUV home. Ultimately, we got the Encore home and took it to our local mechanic at Sumter Tire South in Wildwood. A $300 replacement of the valve cover solved the problem. So... The first case would be that Pep Boys saw a chance to make a big profit on two out-of-towners or... The second case would be that they just didn't know what they were doing. Since I saw the code thrown at Sumter Tire, I can only guess that they were prepping for a windfall. If it was the second case, it would have been an expensive error in judgement. You tell me. All that being said, is this where you want to have your car repaired? I must mention that both guys were very nice and polite, so kudos to them. read more

I informed the front desk guy and he sent another guy to wipe it up after hollering at him about creating the mess. Of course the guy half hearted the cleanup and my light upholstery is trashed. I have been taking my Jeep Grand Cherokee here for service for a few years now and have always had a pleasant experience; but last night my engine light turned on and my Jeep was driving difficultly so I rushed to Pep Boys in a panic and although they we pretty packed with other clients and cars, they treated my situation like it was their own personal vehicle and made it a priority to figure out what was going on. The manager was phenomenal and professional. He took time to explain exactly what was wrong and showed me diagrams on the computer and everything to make sure I understood the issue (because mechanics is like neuroscience to me and I'm no MD!) He did all this for free and even offered to recheck the issue free of charge again before I spend money on an intensive diagnostic appointment. He was very friendly, warm and knowledgeable. The rest of staff was as well. Instead of doing the bare minimum to get through a rainy Friday night, everyone was on their A-game; and when it comes to my baby (my Jeep), I couldn't appreciate their awesome work enough. So I highly recommend going to Pep Boys for car service needs. They are fair, not shady and very accommodating. I can't speak on the supplies they sell because, again, I have very little knowledge of mechanics and tires, etc, but if I ever need that stuff- I already know where to go! Oil change package includes tire rotation. But at Pepboys - Gainesville, the package service is a big joke. Don't expect the LAZY MECHANICS to undo your tires and reinstall them. My appt was at 1pm and I got there at 1:05. Even called to tell them I'd be a few minutes late and they said no problem. Christine was the sales person that helped me and did an Outstanding job selling me what I was looking for (nothing sexier than a women who knows her tires) just saying ... Then the DRAMA. The mechanic working on my truck broke a sensor to one of my tires. The Mgr gave him a new one and they finished the job. The next day I took my truck to Toyota who billed me 310.00 to fix the problem. When I returned to Pep Boys I wanted to hurt someone. But the Mgr Joe who was on duty reimbursed me the 310.00!!! The leak had been there for at least 6 months and I faithfully take my car here every 3 months. Furthermore, I am writing this as I stand in line waiting for my car.
