Woww are they dishonest and lazy. They aligned my tires but didn't. Tires destroyed went to a different mavis and they said they could not find a record of my work. Went to the original location they corrected it. Yet they never aligned the vehicle. I finally went to the dealer and they told me the alignment had never been corrected. It was way out of place. I spent $2000 with Mavis in everything they touched. They messed up. They appear to be a really Shawty company. Incompetent management is not there. As I said earlier, the amount of money I spent was not in the books that was in Yulee, Florida and then I was at Jacksonville and they could not find a record. They never made it right. They would not talk to me they are a crooked operation as far as I'm concern. Yelp requires some star. They deserve none. They are very dishonest operation. I had my brakes serviced. When I drove the car out, the front left brake was making a screeching sound for the first few seconds. I assumed it would go away after the car had been driven a while and the parts worn in. But every time I started the car cold, it would do the same thing: a loud metal-on-metal screeching for several seconds. I took the car back to Mavis for an explanation and was given a song and dance about how it was normal and would go away. A month later, I took the car to the dealership in Alachua and had some maintenance work done. They laughed at me when I told them the brake story, and they fixed it. Called them and was told they do free inspections. I have a thumping coming from my Vehicle. they had my truck for an hour and instead of telling me they couldn't figure it out they said my tires are super low on tread and that they are 2/32. My tires are 7 and 8/32 way off. Tried to sell me tires and when I said I didn't want to do that cause it doesn't sound like an issue he tried to sell me a balance. Asked if they could rotate the tire to the back right farthest from the steering wheel and he said because they are so low on tread they can't do that. read more

If I could give a negative rating I would. Spent over 1,234 dollars today for 4 new tires and 8 brake pads that they added on "as needed". They were told I was going on a 4 hour trip. Oh, No worries, we trust our mechanic yadda yadda. Less than 1 hour into trip at 60 mph my car started to shake and shimmy from steering wheel out. I stopped thankfully before getting on turnpike and went to a family owned tire store. Guess what? Not 1, not 2, not 3 but ALL 4 Tires were not balanced. Every tire was off by at least 3 ounces-they obviously trained a monkey to do this or their machine was not calibrated correctly. Additionally, one tire should have and was moved from rear to front due to lateral movement. When I called Mavis, I was told Maa'm you can drive another 4 hours to your destination with no "catastrophic" consequences. Thank God I was directed by Siri to an honest dealer who removed and balanced all 4 tires and rotated 2 of them. Never, ever will I go to or trust Mavis again. This sweet man who works at Miller Tires in Ocala did not charge me a dime. He just wanted me safe. Mavis did not give a flying F&*$ if I made it anywhere safe. Refused to even consider reimbursement unless I went to a Tire kingdom who likely owns them. Poorly trained. Liars. Do not care AT ALL about customers or their safety. Great value and they're very quick with work. I got 4 new tires, alignment, balancing, and an oil change, for roughly 650 which is a very good deal. I will note that if you call and a call center answers, they might quote you slightly differently than the shop, so make sure to clear that up with the shop. For me it only ended up being 40 or so more because of tax reasons, so not a big deal I asked about fixing my e brake and they saw it was a simple fix I must have missed and did that as well! It's definitely worth it to come here for tire work, oil changes, etc. read more

The counter service was nice, but possibly thought out loud, which was a bit concerning when she would say "oh, I dk t think your tires are here", or "this might be a problem". However, each time I would explain that I was there for an appointment, the rep would appear to panic slightly and start mumbling "oh man, there is a problem..." (or something to that effect). This happened on multiple occasions because I had to come back multiple times to get the one set of new tires mounted on my vehicle. I am law student at UF. I went in to get a tire plugged. i explained i just got my tires rotated and just need the tire plugged. told to wait an hour. Immediately upon going outside to show my tire the front desk woman gets into a shpeel about how I need my tires replaced or realigned because of the way the tires are wearing down. I say great Ill be back next week. hour and a half later im called in to see all my tires off my car and told about a bunch of issues ive never heard of that I "urgently" needed to get fixed. I say great Ill be sure to come back next week. 30 mins later they call me back in to tell me they cant fix the problem I actually came in for because of mavis's corporate policy. Needless to say I spent 30 minutes writhing around in the dirt to plug the tire myself. These people are basically criminals that will lie to your face in order to upsell you on things you dont need. Horrible waste of my time and almost let it ruin my day. do not give these criminals any of your business. Please go somewhere else. i reported them to the consumer protection agency and the better business bureau in jacksonville. what they're doing is criminal and they can be held accountable if you go to the correct resources. read more

Went early hoping it would be empty, and it was quick and easy. Arrived 8:30 and was out by 9:15 with a new set of 4 of tires and alignment . The waiting room had some beat up chairs and water cooler but not to picky on that the service and staff was friendly. UPDATE: 1/27 Issue has been rectified and I feel as though they made things right with how they handled everything from ordering a new wheel immediately and having it replaced. Thanks Joseph and Caldwell. Joseph the store manager has reached out to me on 1/18 (the next day). He was very attentive and respectful, apologizing for the incident and has told me has ordered a new factory wheel. Will update when it gets installed. STAY FAR AWAY. Came in to simply get two front tires changed, I special ordered them and came in to get them replaced on Sunday 01/17. I was told I needed a 2-wheel alignment, as well, so chose to get it done. This is where my problem begins. I'm assuming the alignment tool is what damaged my wheel significantly, the finish of my wheel literally flaked off and there are deep scratches all around the rim. Mistakes happen, and I would've been okay and proceeded with them correcting the problem had they been up front and honest with me. Rather than owning up to his/her mistake, the technician who performed the work made attempts to hide this damage from me by failing to mention the damage to the wheel (damage that one would notice having done to a wheel, especially considering how the machine finish flaked off with ease). This shows a lack of character and no respect towards their customer. This is the first and last time I get any service ever performed here. Not to mention tire pressures were all over the place upon receiving my vehicle. I question the qualifications of the employees, and hope management does not encourage this sort of deceitfulness and dishonesty that tarnishes the company's reputation. As of writing this review (1/18), I am awaiting a call from the owner/upper management, Caldwell assured me I will receive a call today. Will update with how things go. Not helpful, don't waste your time. My son went to have tires rotated for drive home to IL and they refused to rotate because they claim the tread was too low. I was an ASE certified technician for 7 years and know worn tires! These are only 4 years old with 30k mile on them (Goodyear Assurance). It's really unfortunate. When this place was Kauffman Tire, the service was impeccable. Unfortunately, not the same. Makes me really sad. I booked an appointment online like I always used to. I arrive 10 minutes early, and they had no appointment for me, and told me it was going to be 2 hours before they could see me. I showed the team member at Mavis my email confirmation. We confirmed that I booked the appointment for the right location, on the correct day, and at the right time. At this point I assumed that they would admit an unfortunate mixup and find a way to squeeze me in. Sadly, that wasn't an option, and no effort was made to retain my business. This is something that would not have occurred under the previous owner. Unfortunately, I am now looking for an new place to buy tires and get oil changes for our vehicles. I worked with Steven at Mavis and not only was he rly friendly and easy-going, but he helped me understand what was going on with my car, how much it costed, and gave me and my dad time to think about what we wanted to do to finish important repairs in the car while keeping in mind the price tag. As someone who was recently ripped off at Auto ER in Gainesville, this was so refreshing. As a woman, I always fear going to auto shops because I fear that my lack of knowledge can be taken advantage of and then I spend more money than necessary. This location is catastrophically bad, save your money and go to Almonds up the road to get it done right the first time. Here's just a few of our experiences with this wretched company: Brought our 2001 Toyota Echo in to get a replacement alternator. It cost us a little over 300 dollars. About two months later we started getting strange sounds that got progressively worse, so we brought it into another automotive shop up the street. We were told that the Alternator had been so poorly installed that not only would we need a replacement, that the brackets holding it would also need replacing as well as further damage to our vehicle. It will cost another 500 dollars to get it repaired. On another occasion, we brought in our vehicle to get new break pads. It cost us a little over 600 dollars to get the front and back breaks replaced. Almost immediately upon picking up the car the breaks started making a horrible growling noise. We left it back with them, and they told us it was likely because of issues with the axle. This was the first time they had mentioned it to us, it would cost another 800 to get it fixed. We took our car to another location across town, who within 15 minutes of their inspection found that, no it was in fact not the axle, but because Mavis had forgotten to reattach the break clasps, a service that shouldn't cost any additional fee upon installation. It's truly sad, because honestly their customer service representatives can be quite friendly and patient. However the mechanics and management prove time and time again that they only know as much about cars as the bill will allow them. If they can't upcharge you the first time, they'll do everything in their power to make sure you have to come back so they can upcharge you again. read more

When I called to make an appointment for an oil change, I was told that Gainesville COVID19 practices were followed, and that I would be able to wait in an area where face coverings would be worn. The first thing I saw when I arrived is the only employee in the (indoor) reception area, wearing no mask. I left and called the manager who informed me that the business doesn't have to follow city COVID19 practices. It would have saved everyone time and energy if they'd been honest about their policies up front. Deceptive and dangerous behavior isn't my idea of what you want in your car repair shop. read more

This place is terrible. I received a quote for 4 new tires from Mavis on line. The quote was for $ 380 for 4 tires including balance, mounting & taxes. After the tires were installed I went to pay they charged me $502.53 I complained and reminded them that I was given a quote. Stephen told me that the quote I received on line was not for Florida prices. I paid the $502.53. My ride home was the worst ride I ever had in the truck, it was like I was driving over large rocks. I thought that maybe the lug nuts were loose, I checked but they were ok. I took my truck to Tire Outlet and had them check the tires. I watched them spin each tire and they were all out of balance. I had them check the spare also, since Mavis told me it was balanced. At Tire Outlet they checked the spare, it was flat and rotten. I felt so stupid. I popped a tire right in view of Mavis Tires. Tried calling AAA to get them to come help me out (after all, I do pay them for stuff like this!). Alas, the wait time on the phone was so long I ended up just walking over to Mavis Tire to see if they would help me out. Some of the staff members came over to my car to get the spare on, after which I drove it to the shop to get a new tire. The service was so great, I decided to add on an oil change. I felt confident in their services and like I could trust their opinions, hearing about the background of the staff members and their experiences working at dealerships in the past.
