We've had more than a few service appointments at this Pep Boys and while we'd had minor issues in the past of them either not being able to fix certain things or figure out what was wrong they were fine for basic oil service or tire replacement. Now we just recently found out that the last time they replaced a tire for us they used the wrong size tire. Had to escalate to speak with the manager and they simply offered a discount on a new tire dependent on the tread wear of the old tire they mistakenly used. It's been a year of driving around on this and no one will even rotate the tires for liability sake and who knows what other kind of issues. Have to buy a brand new tire somewhere else because I don't trust them at all and they obviously don't care when they've made a mistake. Won't trust them with any service or purchase again and certainly don't recommend them. read more

I scheduled an appointment on the Pep Boys website for 5pm and had it confirmed. Drove to the store and arrived at maybe 5:03. Only needed an alignment done on a 2/3 year old vehicle. Shouldn't be a problem (I worked as a Master Tech in shops for 14 years). Walk up to the front door and found the place closed and all locked up. Hours on the door said they close at 5. There was an employee in the parking lot in his car who saw me drive up and try the door. He didn't say anything and drove off. Okay, so I understand mismatches between online hours and actual hours... but the fact that no one called me ahead of time to tell me my appointment was unable to be made that day? Inexcusable. They need to A)- fix their online/actual hours and B)- get better at communication with their customers. Usually this small misunderstanding is indicative of bigger problems. By far my worst experience with both product purchased and customer service. I purchased a set of Cooper tires last year and they have worn down twice as fast as the warranty covers. I tried many times to call this location, to find out what I need to do in this situation. 90% of the time, the phone went unanswered and when I did reach an employee I was told to just make an appointment. When I arrived at my appointment I was told I needed to wait 2-4 HOURS after my appointment time before anyone could even look at my tires. The lack of empathy, product quality and customer service really has left a sour taste in my mouth. I have recommended this location many times over the years to friends and family. I've been once before and the customer service in store was great. I scheduled my appointment last week for a heating and AC evaluation, then received a email stating that my appointment has been canceled with no explanation. I called to confirm that my appoint had been on the books still, only to hear that they had canceled my appointment because their heating and AC guy was not in today. I was met with extreme attitude from the person who took my call, stating that he tried to call me twice on Friday when he canceled my appointment. This is incorrect as I have checked my call logs and voicemails. He offered me no further help with rescheduling or accommodation to help me find somewhere that could help me today. He was unwilling to listen to what I had to say, and continuously cut me off throughout conversation. From the last time I have visited, there has been a major decline in customer service. If there was a way to give zero or negative stars I would. I'll keep this brief since I've had multiple horrible experiences with this place. They have done about everything wrong I can think of, from horrible customer service, terrible communication to what seems to me to be complete incompetence in actually doing repairs. I have taken my car to them three times for overheating issues. They initially replaced my radiator and sold me on a repair to my front end. The next day I had to get my car towed because they did not tighten something properly, which they admitted and fixed. Another trip in for the same overheating issue and this time they replaced the water pump, but not the thermostat, even though that was their initial diagnosis of the problem. My best guess why they didn't replace the thermostat is they don't talk to each other, or not very effectively. I was transferred to four different people over the course of several days trying to get my car fixed. That repair took, wait for it......FOUR DAYS!!! That was not bad enough, though, because my car was overheating again not long after they replaced the water pump and this time they told me someone had put "stop leak" in my cooling system and it would cost over $1,700 to "clean it out". Thankfully, I smelled a scam and took my car elsewhere and had the system flushed and the thermostat replaced for about $200 and my car now runs fine. I will never take my car to a Pep Boys again and I would not let them work on my car for free. I felt like I was treated unethically and I warn everyone to think twice before taking your car to Pep Boys. read more

I needed a last minute oil change on the day before Thanksgiving and they were able to fit me in. I was okay with the oil change and I also had them take a quick look at 2 lights that were on, and the diagnostic fee would have been 129 to hook it up and diagnose. The fee did not apply to the actual price of the repair. Because of this reason I opted to to not have it diagnosed there. It didnt take too long for the oil change the amenities while waiting were comfortable. read more

I had my first visit to Pep Boys in Harrisburg yesterday to get an oil change. It is a new location in town, and I never really knew what Pep Boys was all about, until I saw a sign that they did oil changes. I was due, so I decided to give it a try. I checked out their website and easily made an appointment online. I appreciated this feature- it was very handy! I immediately got a confirmation email, and later received a text. I also got a confirmation call. They really wanted to make sure I was coming! I arrived right at the time my appointment began- and they seemed to be waiting for me. The associate greeted me by name (I assume he saw my car pull up- I had to put it on the oil change reservation). He brought my car in right away- and I hung out in the waiting room. They had a Keurig with free coffee as well as a ton of magazines and a huge TV and free wifi. My car was done within 30 minutes, as promised. I had a coupon I found online, which they honored. My total was $27 which I thought wasn't bad, especially how fast it was. They also have a rewards club they enrolled me in. I'll be back for another oil change! read more

I am from Atlanta, Ga and a old Just Brakes customer! A year ago Pep Boys bought out Just Brakes in Atlanta. So now all JB in Atlanta are Pep Boys! Last October my check engine light started flashing on my Silverado and no one could tell me why! I even took it to the Chevrolet dealership near my home in Atlanta, Ga. and they missed diagnosed the issues! I knew I needed brakes and shocks on my truck and I knew I was coming to Concord, NC for my birthday! So I decided to bring my truck to the Pep Boys here to have the work done! Now here's what I didn't expect, I didn't expect Tanner the automotive Tech to be so dayum good at what he does! Tanner took one look at my truck and saw that my PVC hose had come loose on my truck which was the cause of my flashing cel. He also saw that my value cover gaskets were leaking! He also told me I didn't need a brake master cylinder, but I did need just front brakes! Tanner replaced my front brakes and resurfaced my rotors! Tina the asst manager, made sure that I was able to apply my Just Brakes wannaties, all the work was going to be completed that day, and have my truck would be back to me before a event that I had to attend that evening! She also made it possible for Lyft to take me home while the work was being done on my truck and then pick me up again! Today I told Mark Davis the store manager, the fact that Tanner was able to address and fix my check engine light issues was enough for me to come back the next time I'm in town! I filled out an entire pre-appointment form online which included a diagnostic, oil change, and tire rotation. I paid 63 something for the oil change, no tire rotation (I can see my pressures digitally in my rogue and see that they haven't moved at all), and naturally the scanner was broken. So I had to schedule another appointment at my dealership after already taking the end of the day off. I am not pleased with the online system and even less pleased with the customer service today. read more

Great service overall. I had one bad experience where my vehicle was leaking oil. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars. Brought it back and they gave me a free oil change and replaced a missing part. Staff is very approachable. The manager, Mark, called me after I left an unsatisfactory score. He was very nice and even offered to refund my money and took all the steps necessary to provide satisfactory service. Came here to have an oil change done while visiting my Mom. I stood for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgement. During that time, I listened to two other clients complain about their experiences and saying that their cars had been adversely affected by the work done. Both clients had to be referred to a higher manager (one store and the other district). After hearing these exchanges, I was finally acknowledged. When I said, "Hi how are you?" I was met with a complaint that alluded to the troubles experienced with the other clients. When I asked how long for an oil change, I was informed that it would be a few hours. When I asked when I should come back he stated that he'd be caught up after lunch without an apology. It seems that if a client waits so long just to be practically turned away, some sort of atonement would be offered in addition to a proper greeting. Judging by the comments of the other clients, maybe it was for the best. I would be willing to give them another try (and update the review) as I've used other Pep Boys locations with no complaints but they truly need to reign in the customer service experience first. read more

Every guy that I talked to there were incredibly nice and great people. My Jeep was acting up and had to bring it in 3 times within a week. Before the 3rd time I brought it in I called Pep Boys telling them that I am not sure what to do at this point and they insisted that I come in again. Long story short they did everything they could to fix my car and they did! They took the time, effort, and had the patience to really try to diagnose what was wrong with my car. They fixed it because now my car runs so smooth. But with the frustration I had because my check engine light kept coming on and they wanted to figure it out I appreciate what they did for me. They were super nice, and very apologetic that I had to come in 3 times. But their customer service and personalities made It perfectly fine to keep coming in. On Monday, January 29, 2018 I had a flat tire at work. I called my roadside assistance to come tow my car to the nearest tire service place and of course the roadside assistance took too long. I called Mark D., the store manager at Pep Boys in Harrisburg, NC and he assured me he would stay and make sure my tire was looked at. The location closed at 7pm and the roadside assistance dropped my car off at 6:50pm. I ended up having a screw in my tire near the side wall and had to buy a new tire. Mark gave me the best deal on a new tire and the technicians were pretty fast getting the work done and did not complain about staying late. Long story short, I came in for an oil change and ended up needing two new tires, an alignment, and balance. The manager showed me where the problem was and how they would fix it, which was much appreciated. The whole process took just shy of 4 hours, when at most should have been 2 hours. I was quoted multiple time allotments it should have taken but each passed by. My appointment was for 10:00 but my car sat for 1-1/2 hours before it was taken for the oil change. Because I had waited so long, a rim cover wasn't put back on, and I had to ask about it, the manager gave me a discount and gave me a card for a free oil change. Initially my husband I were impressed with the service at this Pep Boys but the longer we stayed with them the worse things got. We had to get our car serviced in another state by another Pep Boys a year or so ago. Something went wrong with it and when we took it to our normal Pep Boys in Harrisburg to get it fixed, they complained. They acted as if they were doing us a favor guaranteeing the work that was done by Pep Boys. Another time we took our car in for an oil change and we get a few miles down the road and the oil light is back on in our car. When we pulled over to the nearest gas station the dip stick showed there was no oil in the car. My husband went back and they swore it wasn't their doing and reluctantly fixed the problem. After a few other encounters with them my husband and I have since taken our business elsewhere. The prices are comparable but they hassle is less. read more
