These guys need to get better training. Especially the heavyset bald guy at the front desk. Had an appointment for an oil change and tire rotation for my 2020 Subaru Forester Sport. During my appointment, I requested a tire rotation, which is a standard part of the service and something I've had done at every other location I've visited. I even mentioned that my vehicle's manual recommends it as part of the routine maintenance schedule. However, the technician I spoke with not only refused to perform the tire rotation but also did so in a dismissive and unprofessional manner, ultimately cancelling my appointment. I was quite surprised by this treatment, as I have consistently received courteous and thorough service from other locations in the past (just not this location). Pep boys, well this one the Huntington park, LA (Washington and union), and the pico Rivera. Basically scammed my mom and started avoiding her after. Don't want to really drag it out, to this day it's an on going unresolved "pending" issue. Just please take a plus one in all your matters (witness) when they're explaining to you and what their "warranty/guarantee" I know sounds extreme but it's better not be indebted with a huge bill when all they did was taking guesses. I came in for brake issues they were clearly bad but instead of fixing the actual problem, they were making me replace my control arms, which had nothing to do with it. They refused to address the brakes, even though that's what I came in for. Total waste of time and money. Worst experience ever. Went in for an oil change that should have been about $90, came back to pick up my car and had a 25% coupon and it came out to $90. I started to question but had already put in my card. The guy tells me oh it was $110 before the coupon which had me confused but I had already paid. I left and looked at my receipt on my car and called to ask questions. The guy who answered the phone (unfortunately didn't get a name) basically tells me yea that's how much it costs I asked why my receipt said manager special and he said that I didn't specify what oil change I wanted and the manager special was more expensive. I told him but when you ask for an oil change with synthetic oil isn't that what I'm asking for? And if there's a so called "managers special" that's $20 more, wouldn't you tell your customer so they can decide if they want to spend $20 more? Or ask what oil you want if that's the issue? He said well what do you want me to do you didn't tell us what you wanted? I'm done with this place. Today was the last straw especially the attitude. I even called to ask if I could drop off my car 30 mins earlier then my appt and was told no were busy. So I'm assuming without an appt that place won't take your car. What a waste of time and money. I should have known from the beginning that they were trying to get me for as much as possible because when I dropped off my car I asked him if they could clean the posts on my battery since they had alittle gunk on them. He tells me yea that'll be $20 and I said ok fine. I call my bf after I leave my keys and he's like go back and cancel that, I can do that for nothing. So I go back in and I tell the guy to go ahead and not do it and he's like oh we were gonna do it for free anyways. Ok free so why quote me $20?! And lo and behold I still ended up paying $20 more. Up until recently the service was fine, but the manager Steve Rodriguez has been giving us a hard time with the prices even with a coupon there's some serious price gouging going on. Took my car in for an alignment. This is such a simple service, and I've had it done before countless amount of times with my ride height, which relatively isn't that low. Places like American Tires and other tire shops gave me great service on this regard. There aren't many alignment machines on the market. The one pepboys use is the same as the one the other shops used for my car with its current height. Mind you, it used to sit way lower and they still made it happen... The front desk worker denied my service saying, "it's a high risk." He didn't want to "damage" my car even after I explained to him how I've watched my car go up this ramp so many times, I even drive it up once. But he didn't even make an attempt even though I was giving him permission. This lets me know that the front workers have zero problem solving skills and doesn't like working on cars, nonetheless he might not even like his job. The thing that really ticked me off though is as I was leaving he said "Are you okay, you look upset." In the patronizing tone he used, I felt it very unnecessary because of course I was upset. That's not something you say to someone who you obviously just upset. Asking someone why they are upset even though you already know, you're just asking for an argument. And he did not even try to diffuse anything or be helpful. Horrible customer service, no wonder why this location has 3.4 stars. This guy does not know cars and is lazy, I know more than him, just sad, why do yall pay these people for? I didn't get the guys name but for reference I went in 11/17/24 on Sunday around 11:20 Am. I told him I would take it to Firestone or another tire shop close by and he said, "they're gonna tell you the same thing." So I took it to Custodio's tire shop right down the street and they immediately took my car in no questions asked. Funniest thing, THEY HAVE THE SAME MACHINE!!! They are currently working on it as we speak, and gave superior service compared to debt boys. Two flat tires in 2 weeks brought me to this Pep Boys, conveniently located between my home and work. Two Tuesday in row around 8pm. Both times, I called ahead of time to see if they could check out my car tire and patch it up, if possible. When I arrived, Alejandro and the other mechanics working at that time helped me out both times, and were able to patch up my tires right away. Able to safely go home in 15 mins! HORRIBLE SERVICE! I took my car for a simple oil change and 10 minutes after I leave I hear this horrible scrapping. They forgot to tighten some bolts on the bottom of the car. This is not the first time this had happened. I took it back immediately and no apology was given. They just tightened and sent my on my way. I asked about the Damage to my car And the fact that I was late to work because I had to go back and wait for them to tighten some bolts. Useless employees went in for a oil change at 5:30 and they came with some excuse that they couldn't change it because it was "leaking" And yes it has a minor leak but that has nothing to do with changing my oil I've never had this issue anywhere else. They close at 6 and I know they just didn't want to change it because they were about to close. And before this they changed my oil only for me to have to Uber to a autozone because they dropped the oil and they realized they don't have the filter. I had previously had new tires installed at this Pep Boys and returned expecting the same great experience, sadly that was not the case. I went online at PepBoys.com on Saturday and ordered a set of new Goodyear tires and scheduled an appointment to have them installed the following Monday at 7:30 PM. I enter the store on Monday with order printout in hand, only to find out that the order did not exist and they only had 3 out of the 4 tires in stock. The service employee apologizes for the inconvenience, offers me a 10% discount and places the order with an installation date of Tuesday at 6:30 PM. I walk in on Tuesday and a different service employee stated that there was no appointment for me and that he could install the tires by store closing as he had several vehicles being serviced. Although I had several errands to take care of I reluctantly leave the vehicle as I needed new tires. When I return at store closing, I pick up my vehicle and find that 2 lug nuts are mismatched, 2 are missing the lug cap and 4 have loose caps. I ask the service employee why they are loose, and he assures me that the "caps" are loose and the lugs are tight. He didn't even address the missing caps or mismatched lug nuts. He seemed eager to close the store so I left. Now, I am stuck going to the dealer to buy 8 new lug nuts to replace the broken, mismatched and loose caps I am left with. Terrible experience but that's the price you pay with PepBoys. Steve greeted me, took my vehicle in and quoted me approximately $600 and sent me home in a Lyft. The reason I took my car in is because I felt unsafe driving my truck in the condition my tires were in. While I'm waiting, Steve gives me a call that their mechanics (who are trained, presumably) cannot remove the spare without damaging my spare tire hoist. I'm under a time, financial, and safety restriction so I'm in a metaphorical headlock and am pressured to agree for them to do what is necessary to get my truck back on the road. Upon returning, Steve tries to make it sound as if they did me a favor by now creating a new problem I have to pay to fix. I answered a survey (that the company asked me to fill out) and on it was an option "do wish to be contacted regarding this survey?" To which I clicked yes thinking customer care will answer but no, Steve calls me back saying that I agreed to damages, that our calls are recorded, and to summarize, that my review is worth as much as their training. Not shit. Sent an email to PepBoys and didn't get a response. Had they offered to fix what they broke, I'd be happy and not worried but here I am, with my spare tire sitting in the back of my truck until I pay $130 + Labor to get it fixed all because I decided to spend a few extra bucks at PepBoys because I thought spending more money at a multimillion dollar company would get me quality customer service. I scheduled an appointment to have a hitch put on my car. I canceled the first, rescheduled for today. Over the phone their computer said they do service my car. I arrived early for my appointment and 1 hour and a half later, oh we do service your make. The service manager said, "he's just a service manager. Basically, he doesn't know anything about cars. Their computer even said they service my brand of car. They don't know what they are doing. Maybe they can handle an oil change, but I wouldn't trust them. And an appointment means nothing to them. I asked for the part and he says they don't have it stock. Didn't really want to drive it anywhere because it was overheating so I asked for an estimate. Quoted me $428 to replace a radiator hose and thermostat and says it would be ready in a few hours. Wait, I thought you said you don't have the hose in stock. Well we do, but only if you fix it here. Came to Firestone they got me in and they're even taking the car in to inspect it and let me know everything I need to know. Firestone highly recommend!!!! Pep boys, more like lazy boys. Doesn't make sense for pep boys to say they couldn't do it when Firestone got the job done in no time. Big difference when you go to a place that actually gets work done. I placed an online order a few days ago. I placed it on pepboys.com so I can get 25% off online order discount. The next day, I received confirmation email that it was ready for pick up. I went to pick up order the next day. Pep boys give you a week to pick up your order before it is returned to inventory. Normally when I place a pepboys.com to store order and I go pick it up, its always ready. This is 2nd time I went to this store in two years that an online order was not ready. Not only that. But none of the items were in stock. When I came to pick up order, they wanted me to re-order items so I can come pick them up 4 hours Today. Since the new reorder didnt occur online, they claimed I wouldnt get 25% off discount. There was no apology. Nothing. I actually enjoyed my visit to this location. They follow CoVid protocol strictly and the store was very well stocked. It almost felt as though there was nothing you couldn't find to hook up or replace something on your ride. The staff were ok. The staff member that stood out to me though was Juan. When my husband walked in and asked for assistance from different ones they were quick to direct him where to go but they really didnt take the time out to help. He approached Jesus with Juan standing near and asked about ordering a part and of course he directed him to the parts department. The staff member in that department was on the phone with a customer and politely told my husband he would be with him in a moment. While we were waiting Juan walked up to my husband and asked about the patry he wanted to order. He patiently helped my husband to look up the part, get info on it and to see if they had something similar in the store. He looked at individual products along with him and made sure he left the store with what he needed. He was so young and so professional that i asked how long he had been working for pep boys. He told me but then added that he actually belonged to the store on Crenshaw and Adams. He was just filling in at this location. He really put a shine to the customer service at this location. The Crenshaw and Adams location are fortunate to have such a young professional working for them. Overall the visit was good and more than likely they will have what you need. Absolutely horrible service. Trying to find the best value for a tire that needed changing. Arrived at this location exactly at 8 am when they open. I was assisted by a young man named Alexis. He acted as if my inquiries and my presence was an absolute nuisance. His attitude was curt and rude. Once I received my quote I left the store to weigh my options. After about an hour returned to the store to purchase the tire I originally was quoted. I asked if there was anyone else besides Alexis to help me. I let him know I did not appreciate his attitude earlier and would prefer to work with someone else. He immediately go extremely defensive and rudely let me know he was the only one available. He said his manager would not be in the store until 3pm. I then said tried to proceed with the purchase of my tire and he refused to service me. All while raising his voice and using an increasingly defensive tone. I have never experienced such hostility by an employee. As a young woman it left me feeling afraid. Unfortunately, my car is not drivable and I have no other option but to purchase the tire at this location. Im hoping to come back at the 3 pm to speak with a manager and hopefully purchase a tire. They were supposed to send me an email telling me they were ready to be picked up but I never got an email so I called to find out if they were there and they were. I pick some up but was not able to do my brake pads that same day so I waited till the next evening open up the package to find out they gave me the wrong brake pads. it was too late to bring them back so now I have to wait until tomorrow. Thoroughly disappointed and upset. The mechanics/employees at this Pep Boys lied to my partner and told him our car was next up in line for an alignment, after arriving around 9am. He was one of the first. Our car has been in serious need of maintenance, especially since our steering wheel has been shaking like crazy due to misalignment. From the start, what was pretty annoying was how skeptical they were, continually asking if the car needed it. It's like, YO check it yourself. Look at the car. The maintenance light comes on. Take it for a spin, even. You'll be in for a bumpy ride. We're paying you money just to look at it, and then hopefully to fix it too. So...they had him wait. My partner checked in 2-3 times, with them continually telling him he was up next. A number of cars came and went. After almost 5 hours, they hadn't even touched the car. Eventually my partner had to ask when our car was actually going to be serviced. If he was actually going to be next this time. They finally responded that it was actually going to be a while. I think if you're going to take a while, at least have the decency to tell your customers from the start that you will. Don't constantly tell them they are next. I guess the way they use the word 'next' here is as follows: The NEXT place I'm going to go to when I need my car fixed is Pep Boys at Huntington Park. read more
