Absolutely terrible experience! Went to have my AC repaired and the idiot technician messed up the bumper. Now the bumper won't seat right and keeps popping out. He made up some BS about he could see that the car had previous been in an accident which is why the bumper won't fit back on the car. The car has never been in an accident and has a clean vehicle history report. Regardless of that, I've owned the car now 4 years, never had an issue with the bumper until Pep Boys worked on it. When I explained that to him and the manager and that bottom line is that when I brought the car in the bumper was seated properly and after they worked on it the bumper no longer sits properly on the vehicle. All I got were blank stares. Not even an apology. The technician had the gall to ask but does the AC work, and when I said the AC was fine that the issue was the bumper he said I don't do body work, I work on AC and did my job. Then he tried convincing me to buy bumper clips to hold my bumper on. I was speechless. You wouldn't think a company like pep boys would hire such losers who would actually make up total lies to explain away their incompetence and shoddy work. STAY AWAY !! This place is a chop shop with the worst customer service and quality you can imagine. read more

The old saying, if I could give these guys no stars I would applies here. Where do I begin? Incompetent, would be the best word to describe this establishment. My apologies to all who work here. Truly a disgrace to even be open for business. Victor. That's the name. Caucasian male. I wish I would've been able to get the name of the other gentleman who also did a "diagnostic" on my vehicle. Who also was incompetent as they come. We came in due to a noise that my vehicle was making. Which from my experience felt and sounded like a wheel bearing. They had "fixed" the issue only to find out they didn't. They fixed something else. Cool. Thanks. But did not fix the main concern. When I asked about the wheel bearing they said it was sound and stable. (They were rotating the tires with their bare hands) And found nothing. Of course not. We did go on a test drive and as I told them a million times the wheel bearing sound comes and goes. I was trying to rectify the issue BEFORE it got a lot worse. Proactive some might say? They heard nothing. I pin pointed when the sound did actually appear and Victor stated, "based on my experience if it was a wheel bearing I would hear it consistently. You can tell" yeah, when it gets really bad sure. Been there. I was trying to prevent that! He took it for a spin and stated nothing was heard and his in shop diagnostic also "confirmed" that the wheel bearing was in great condition. Yeah, with your bare hands rotating. Joke. Here's where things get worse. Victor said to my face I'm an honest guy. HAHAHA. Before leaving he states he would submit this claim over to the warranty department for approval. (Pep boys is one of Silver Rocks in network providers for repairs) he called me the next day saying I submitted and they did not approve due to insufficient evidence of a wheel bearing issue. They've notated your account on the matter. He also said when it gets worse come by so we can resubmit. Lol.... Very odd... Silver rock normally sends me a notification when something is submitted and the status of that approval. I got nothing. Suspicious. I called silver rock and just as I suspected. These BUMS, yea bums, didn't do jack sh*t. Excuse my French. Nothing was ever submitted and no notes on the account. He did exactly what a scum bag would do. Be dishonest. A man with no honor nor morale. This is how your establishment is ran? What can we expect from those who have no drive or ambition or pride in their work. He just wanted to get us out of his hair because I was being persistent. I know it was a wheel bearing. They need new staffing who know their craft. I took my vehicle to 2 other competitors. They both said yes indeed your wheel bearing needs fixing. They drove the car (both places) and both heard the sound and felt the tremble. How odd.. one of those places was not a provider of silver rock unfortunately otherwise I would have had them replace it. But, the other spot was. When they finished driving it they took it back to the shop, put the vehicle on the bay and checked the wheel bearing by putting it In DRIVE. Not by their hands like Pep Boys. When they did this they also confirmed indeed a wheel bearing issue. WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT?! What it looks like to be competent. These other two establishments were friendly, kind, professional and knew their craft. Something Pep boys could only dream of achieving. Upon their findings at this other establishment they called silver rock and had this instantly approved and replaced the same exact day. Wow. That's exceptional service !! That's how you do it pep boys. Consumers, take your business somewhere else. Don't allow these guys to remain in business. You're only allowing a disservice to the community of Jacksonville and nationwide. I hope those who run this company up high see this. Take action. Take responsibility and above all make a change. Did you know that at least some of the Cooper tires Pep Boys sells are not warranteed by Cooper? They are warranteed by Pep Boys alone. I purchased 4 of these tires from Pep Boys (no they did not tell me Cooper didn't warranty them) and all 4 were defective. I had 2 blowouts on the highway (1 on the way to vacation and 1 on the way back!) more than a hundred miles from home and was stranded. The first one ripped up the front quarter panel of my SVU! I had to stay overnight (hotel $$) because everything was closed, lost a full day of vacation. After buying 4 new tires on my trip, I went back to them and they were unable to do anything for me because I didn't have the pieces of tires left with me, so there was no proof they were defective! Even though the first one was replaced at a Pep Boys - who were unable to give me the better mileage warranty because I didn't have my purchase paperwork with me (what? it's all right there in the system). They insisted the other 2 tires were fine. The next time I needed a tire I tried again. Almost to Disney and the tire failed. Lost another afternoon. Oh, and the Pep Boys there wouldn't help me because they already had too many customers to take care of. After buying yet another new tire (BJs), I went back again to Jax Beach Pep Boys and they said they would warranty out the defective tire I brought back, it would only cost me $100 to have a new tire of the exact same kind which I didn't need because I already had to buy new tires. They offered nothing for the fourth tire (still in my garage) that I absolutely don't trust. So I'm out $800 in tires, 1 hotel night, 1 destroyed quarter panel, and roughly 2 vacation days. This is my new go-to for all things with my car! Love these guys! Everyone was so helpful and fully explained my vehicle's diagnostics so I could understand it. The price for the work done was beyond reasonable and they even looked up and used an online coupon I wasn't even aware of! Would so highly recommend this location! Folks at pep boys have repeatedly taken care of my vehicles since opening at the beach. 2 different shops struggled with my truck tires which presented no Trouble to the crew at Pep Boys. Service has been quick and cost extremely reasonable. Wholly recommend for auto service needs. read more
