I began working in the Baymeadows area just over a year ago. I had some repairs needed and the people I work with recommended Pep Boys. I was confused. I thought it was a retail store but I drove by, saw that it was in fact a shop and figured I had nothing to lose. The nicest, most courteous, skilled and highest level of integrity I've seen in a shop since I moved here. My most recent repair entailed replacing the shield under my engine. The receptionist showed me the best way to obtain the part and they installed it once it came in for an extremely reasonable price. Going to a shop can be a scary experience. Trust these guys, use these guys for all of your repairs. They are your partner to keep your car running well and for any repairs you may need. They could've killed me!!!! I went in for an alignment.. they left the caster bolts loose..(they hold the upper control arm together.) and. The alignment was actually worse than it was to begin with!!! I presented my car with an Auto Zone diagnostic test paper because the engine lights were intermittently turning on and off before the engine would come to a complete stop. Despite informing them of the issue, as the engine lights were off at the time, they couldn't identify the problem and advised me to go to the dealer. Just two days before the Thanksgiving major travel day I hit a semi trucks tire blow out and ripped loose the protective felt shield under my Tesla. All body shops were booked out until February. I hobbled into the Baymeadows Pep Boys. Trever was amazing and offered to reattach the ripped piece instead of cutting it off. My tire pressure light came on but all tires looked okay. Took it in and Trevor was great. He checked all fours tires and explained it was likely the sensor. As I was driving home one night one of my headlight bulbs died. Luckily I wasn't far from home and the sun hadn't completely gone down. I've never changed a headlight bulb before, I really wasn't comfortable doing it and I didn't have the time to change it myself. Pep Boys allowed for me to schedule an appointment for the following day after work and about an hour before they closed, 6pm I hadn't read the previous Yelp review about Pep Boys's online scheduling so I was a bit nervous as to what would happen. I got over there 15 minutes early and there were cars already in the bays. That made me worry some more. But the Service Manager got me in and out of there in about 30 minutes. I'm infuriated. My sister went into this establishment, knowing nothing about cars and felt humiliated by the company and staff. She went in for a simple antifreeze leak, she didn't or don't have knowledge about her car. They belittled her and definitely overcharged. Why is it 35 dollars to diagnose the problem but that sum of money doesn't apply to the charge. She called me hysterical and I live in another state. I was a walk-in @ 3pm on a Sunday. They replaced all 4 tires after I got dry rot & a blowout. They even stayed 1 & 1/2 hours after closing, so I could pick it back up same day! They had a buy 3 tires & get 1 free deal, I just stumbled on, it was cheaper $200 than anywhere else I looked. Also, all the others would have had to order my tires, & get them as soon as 5 days later. 10/10 would get more work done there again! read more

I had an oil change at Pepboys in May 2023. I locked my car with all windows closed. The technician performing my oil change opened both rear windows of my car, I can't understand why, the car was only being moved from the lot to the service bay and the need to open my car windows. I watched as service was nearing completion and the car was backed out of the service bay onto the lot. I paid for the service and left with my car, not realizing until later that an item was missing from my car. I do gig work as a Doordash driver and my Doordash pizza bag was STOLEN from the backseat of my car. I didn't realize the pizza bag was missing until later in the day until I had a need for it. I returned to Pepboys the next day and reported the theft and of course no one knew anything. The theft of my pizza bag caused a hardship for me to continue my service delivering pizzas. Horrible service. Got vehicle towed in 12/11 with broken wheel bearing. Didn't receive a call back til 12/14 stating repairs would be done 12/15. A whole week goes by no follow up. I call several times getting the runaround. They say we're waiting on parts on 12/20. I get a call 12/26 stating it "might" be ready 12/27. I call 12/30 they say oh nobody called?! I show up 12/30, after I pay they say oh, we forgot to bleed your brakes it'll be another 30 mins. After I'd been dropped off. My vehicle has been at Dunn ave pep boys for 3 weeks and counting. No apologies, no compensation, just screwed over and without a vehicle for almost a month and stranded during the holiday vacation. Very disrespectful and incompetent. read more

Pro's: amazing customer service! Gone to them for over a year. Free tire pressure checks and when my light came on the dash during my lunch hour they had every bay full but still within 10 minutes checked my tires filled it and out I rolled. 1 week later light came back on. Called, made appointment, and they will do the internal injection treatment for less then some of my lunch bills! Sweet! OIL CHANGES: don't fall for Valvoline etc bs coupons for oil that lasts 3,000 miles get synthetic it lasts 7,000 miles and at Pep Boys it's cheaper then every other bs oil place in town. HUGE BONUS: they don't tell you that you need this filter or that - ever! I'm so tired of the bs! SOUND LIKE A PLANTED COMMERCIAL? Look at my other reviews I'm harsh! On a trip from PA our tire pressure light turned on, so we stopped at Pep Boys and found a slice in the side of a tire. We pulled in a little after 8AM and had four new tires within 60-70 minutes. Was driving and had our car breakdown randomly. Apparently all of the oil poured out due to a quick oil change done at Take5. Had the car towed here and the women and mechanic stayed later to help us out and see what was going on. Went completely above and beyond to help us out when they didn't have to. Take5 didn't out the oil plug in which is what left us to losing all of the oil in our car. High recommend this facility. I made a reservation for an oil change. Arrived 5 min early and was greeted and gave my information and was asked if I was dropping the car off. I said no I'd be waiting and should've noticed the guy's body language that something wasn't good. Well needless to say 60 minutes later while my car was still in the parking lot I asked for my key and left. The guy didn't apologize or attempt to explain the delay. I can understand people not showing up for work, etc, but to not even apologize for the delay is inexcusable. Do Not Do Business with this location, particularly if it is Brad in charge. Pep Boys let me down again! A year ago July my battery exploded, and Pep Boys in Kissimmee determined it was because I needed a new alternator.. I purchased the new alternator, and got a new battery. Everything was cool until I took my family of 5 on a mini vaca, the first during Covid. Strangely, the car did not start that morning. We blamed each other for leaving a door open or some other thing. Off we went on a two hour drive to our vaca spot in St. Augustine. We stopped for lunch, and then the car would not start again. We begged another diner for a jump start, all with masks on. A quick check showed no Pep Boys in St. Augustine. We drove to the closest auto store and they ran a diagnostic, saying our battery was trashed. We dropped the kids at the hotel and headed to Jacksonville, the closest Pep Boys. I called this location on Baymeadows, and spoke with BRAD. I explained our scenario, and he leap right into a lecture about keeping my proper documents because his computer was not connected to the other stores. I assured him I DID have all of my documents on hand. He asked about my car, and proceeded to inform me he probably doesn't carry my battery. With much hesitation, he agreed to look at my car. It was about a 35 minute drive. Once there, I greeted Brad eagerly, and said we had called about 30 minutes prior. Without looking up from his computer he said "I don't know, I've talked to about 35 people today, I can't remember everyone." Without turning my car off he looked at my battery and told me it was fine. I must have another issue, and he wouldn't have a guy to look at it until Tuesday. (This was sunday). Brad did not care to look at my receipts, or my documents. I reminded him I was on a mini vaca with my kids from Orlando, and my kids were currently located in a hotel room 40 minutes away. Could he help? I expected that he would hook me up with a new battery, and tell me to follow up with my local Pep Boys when I got home. Instead, he said "What do you want me to DO?" and stared us down until we left. I ultimately went to another auto store nearby, they checked my battery and found it to be trashed. I was forced to buy a new battery. Now, a month later, even following up with customer care, I do not have a resolution. Stay away! read more

I went into Pep Boys for an oil change. Less than one hour later Christina brought me back to look at my tire tread. She told me, while standing next to my car with the mechanic, that my tires were significantly worn and that they could see wire because the tread was so low. She also showed me that the tires were wearing unevenly and that they were wearing on the interior more than the exterior. I had explained to her that I recently replaced the front tires at DT. I also told her that I needed to call my husband to let him know what was going on. Back in the lobby, she told me that failing to replace all four tires had caused this alignment issue and damaged my transmission. She also told me that my front differential was leaking. I let her know that no one at DT had ever told us that an AWD/4WD vehicle needed to have all 4 tires replaced, this was the first time that I had ever been given this information. I told her that I did not know much about cars and that I was unaware that not replacing all 4 tires could damage the transmission. I was panicking. I called my husband and my father believing that my transmission was damaged and that my car would soon breakdown. I asked for a tire quote that Christina provided. She then told me that the price could be a little different though because their computer was a little off. She also made a point to tell me that Pep Boys is a full-service mechanic so they could help me with all of my vehicle issues. I told her I was going to reach out to DT because they had sold me the front tires not to long ago. DT responded immediately and offered to correct their error. I told them what Christina had told me about the transmission and the tires. I told them I would ask her to note what we had discussed so that I could bring it with me. I then told Christina that DT was going to help me and she looked surprised. I asked her to please write down all the information she had told me about the leak, transmission, tires, and alignment. She said she would. She also said she was going to write down my tread depth. When I was ready to leave she pointed out a section on the paperwork where she said she had made notes about our discussion. I did not read them prior to leaving thinking that she would include everything she had told me. During this time I had called multiple family members panicking about my transmission. When I arrived at Discount Tire they looked at the documents that Christina had provided. They said she had not noted anything about the transmission. I relayed everything she had told me and informed them that I called their shop solely based on what she had told and shown me. I urged the manager to call Christina believing that she would relay the same information she had told me regarding the alignment and transmission. She did not. Instead, Christina told the manager that they are not a transmission shop and that they would not have checked the transmission. A vastly different statement than what she had very clearly told me while attempting to get me to purchase tires. The DT manager also asked Christina if they had notified me about the oil leak on the top of my engine since they had just changed my oil and she said she wasn't sure if she had or not. The mechanics at DT checked the tread depth on my vehicle, and while they recognized that they should have replaced all 4 tires, they also noted that Christina's tread measurements were completely wrong. She had listed them as follows: LF tire 4, 5, 6 RF tire 4, 5, 6 LR tire 4, 4, 4 RR tire 4, 4, 4. When the tread was checked at DT I was told that despite the differences in the front and back tread depth, all four tires were still in the green. I was then told that Christina's actions may have been an unfortunate sales tactic. I was mortified. I had spent half the day panicking that my vehicle had severe damage based on Christina's information. My husband called the manager, Brad. He claimed that he was within earshot of the conversation and had implied that Christina's actions were acceptable. He said he did not believe that Christina had said that because they do not work on transmissions at all. He also said that they mention the transmission issues to make customers aware that there could be damage caused. He then told my husband that I must have misunderstood the conversation. He also told my husband that he has multiple employees and that he can't watch everything they do all the time. The main issue is that the conversation regarding the transmission occurred in an area where Brad was not present. The only time others were part of the conversation was when I was shown my tires in the mechanics bay. The tread information provided by Christina was clearly inaccurate when we took the information to DT. If Christina was willing to misrepresent information documented on paper in black and white, I cannot imagine what is misrepresented verbally to customers. read more

I have already written a review about this place, but here is an updated one. I gave them 5 stars before, and I am giving them 5 stars again. Even though they are a corporate auto repair shop, they do not treat their customers like they are corporate. They take GREAT personal care of their customers. I have been going here for almost three years, and they ALWAYS go the extra mile and make sure to give the best service possible. ROBERTO is the mechanic who I always see, and request. He is like a doctor when it comes to cars. No problem is too big or too small. He has fixed everything I have needed, even when other places could not. Rick, the manager, is a great guy as well. If not for this Pep Boys, my car would not have lasted as long as it has. They definitely gave my car an extra 10 years and I would recommend this place to anyone with any type of car. read more
