My MD nephew's car needed service to fix an AC fan's blower motor. He called JJ's just before closing and was given an appt first thing today. They diagnosed what was wrong and gave a fair estimate -- most importantly, they said it would be done today so he and his GF to continue on to Orlando. They completed the service, found they didn't need another part which was calculated in the estimate (a $250 savings), replaced the battery in his key fob, etc. He appreciated talking to the owners and their waiting room as well. I took my car to JJ's Auto Care because my AC suddenly stopped blowing cold air, despite being recharged just a few months ago. I assumed there was a leak, as the issue came on abruptly. Initially, I was pleased when they called to say the car was ready for pickup. However, my satisfaction quickly turned to frustration when I learned they hadn't been able to detect a leak but had gone ahead and added freon and dye without consulting me--at a cost just shy of $400. Here's the breakdown: they added 10 ounces of freon at $12.90 per ounce, totaling $129. I've purchased this exact freon before and know for a fact it doesn't cost nearly that much. I understand that they needed to add freon to check for a leak, but not running the charges by me first is unacceptable. If they had been upfront about not being able to locate the leak and the exorbitant cost of the freon, I would have opted to add it myself and saved a considerable amount of money. I also can't understand how adding freon and dye with labor could possibly justify a bill approaching $400. I understand labor for auto care can be expensive, but inflating your prices for parts is incredibly dishonest. Transparency is key in auto care, and I feel JJ's completely dropped the ball in communicating what they planned to do and how much it would cost. This lack of upfront disclosure left me blindsided by a bill for a service I could have handled myself. Please communicate with your customers BEFORE conducting the service. It may seem like nothing to you, but being blindsided by a large bill in this economy is not manageable by everyone. read more

They did a good job changing the oil in my car. The waiting room is really nice. They have it where you can get a snack and a cup of coffee or a bottle of water for your customers. It is set up with a TV you can watch and wait while your car is being repaired, they are very friendly and will give you recommendations if you need to do something extra on your car. The oil change was also very good value. read more

To start off I had the clutch replaced on my 2009 Honda civic si in March when it unexpectedly went out on me. Clutch was fine at first and felt great. I picked up the car and it had a check engine light (I used a scanner I had at home to check the engine code and it was the knock sensor). This will come into play later. I ended up bringing the car back to them 2 times for this knock sensor issue (the cause of the check engine light). Knock sensors are important, if they are damaged your car can run very poorly. Also another noise popped up, like a slight rattling. I had them check this out and they chalked it up to a "poor quality aftermarket engine mount". I highly doubted that was the issue. I recently had enough of the rattling noise and wanted to upgrade the clutch anyways to a slightly stiffer stage 1 clutch. A friend of mine is the head technician at a different shop and he helped me pull the transmission and install an upgraded clutch. Upon getting ready to pull the transmission out of the car we discovered 2 bolts were missing that connect the transmission to the engine and 1 bolt on the transmission engine mount was missing (a rather important structural bolt that goes into the frame). The throwout bearing was also NOT OEM HONDA and was the poor quality bearing always included with clutch kits. The bearing already had play in it when it was removed. (This bearing would have eventually failed. I'm happy I decided to check their work and install an upgraded clutch after 5,000 miles). The knock sensor mentioned above was also completely snapped. So not only did this shop neglect to install 2 very important bolts that hold the transmission to the engine, they neglected to install or did not notify me I had a missing engine mount bolt along with snapping my knock sensor!!! The car came back to them with the SAME EXACT ISSUE 2 times and nothing was done. The check engine light was fixed but how would a knock sensor be snapped like that if it was already replaced? The plastic gets brittle with age but brand new sensors shouldn't break in half. Pictures below of my invoice, missing bolts, and snapped knock sensor. Utter negligence which would have caused issues further down the line. I can't believe they are charging top dollar (I PAID $1700) when they can't even do their job with integrity! Will never be returning with my car again. I WOULD NOT trust this shop with my car or any car if their technicians are either neglecting to install important bolts or not notifying the customer those bolts are missing (which I would have happily paid the probably $5-10 a piece they would cost to replace!!). read more

Talk about a place doing bare minimum and lying that they checked more, yet did absolutely nothing, the bare minimum, ran it on a scanner and that's it, for the full day in a shop, and LIED ontop, and zero care in the world the danger I was put into for trusting them! I scheduled my car into the shop Wednesday, April 27th 2022. My check engine light was on. JJ's Auto Care had my car for the full day (I had to rearrange my day for this). JJ's advised it was the catalytic converter. I asked if I could hold off on that. They advised that yes, it could even wait 2 years and isn't necessary and most importantly EVERYTHING else on the car looks good, I have a great car, keep it he said. Saturday, April 30th, 2022. 3 days later! My car starts sputtering on the highway! I pull off and find a highly reviewed place nearby. I go to that shop and they said there is plenty wrong with my car and were shocked it was in somewhere a few days ago. This was a trustable military employee shop. Things wrong : Radiator, water pump, filler neck, coolant, radiator cap, and thermostats. I call JJ's on Monday with my crazy experience on saturday and to ask what was looked at on wednesday. They advised I went in with check engine light, and that is all they did. They simply plugged it into the reader and saw what popped up. Then charged me over $100. And had my car the full day and I had to schedule for that, which is absolutely nothing looked at! They had zero concern that they advised to me Wednesday that everything else was good, yet. Were LYING because they checked NOTHING else. I trust a place to check out my car, and nothing was checked and they have no care in the world they took my car a full scheduled day and told me everything was good, yet after I have a very dangerous experience a few days later, they finally tell the truth that they only plugged it into a computer and did no checking of anything else. That's insane, you trust a place to look at your car, and they put you in danger and lie that EVERYTHING else looked good, yet didn't check anything and no care after. His response was all I mentioned was check engine light, so that's all they did was plug that into machine and check those digits. So I guess in summary, I lost a day in the shop with JJ's auto, I lost money for them doing Nothing, they put me in serious danger 3 days later, YET it's my fault I trusted a car mechanic shop to look at my car for a full day and somehow I should have known more to ask for past the check engine. Service was excellent. My car was running like the 1st day I got it. Extremely friendly staff with a touch of humor. The waiting room had comfortable seating and plenty of food and water with TV'S. I was looking for an auto place that was more convenient to my house and a co-worker suggested JJ's. I took my truck in and they gave me a good price on a new water pump. While they had it I also had them take care of several other issues. They did a great job and I have no complaints. My mom lives nearby so I have her going there now. She recently took her car in and after most of a day they discovered the problem still existed. They pulled the new part and ate the cost of labor. She had to return the next day but they were able to resolve it. I feel like I can safely send her there on her own without worrying that she'll be taken for a ride. Although, they did give her one to take her home and bring her back the next day. :-) If you're in need of auto repairs, JJ's if fair and honest. read more

I'm new to the area and had some issues with my car prior to moving down. I asked around the office for a couple months to see if anyone had a reliable mechanic but with no luck I just took my car to JJ's. The tire pressure sensor on the passenger front was not working and there was a grinding rotation sound coming from the same tire. JJ's replaced the pressure sensor and balanced the tires. Everything seems to be fixed. Some stars aligned and I ended up selling her car to my parents and buying a vehicle from my employer all with in a couple weeks of getting my car repaired. I thought I was in good hands so I took them both to JJ's for used vehicle inspections ($99 each). I don't remember what the issue was but the vehicle I was purchasing has an issue. They called me before making any repairs but I gave them the go ahead. All in all I spent about $700. 1. The rotational grinding sound in my vehicle came back less than a month later. I called JJ's and they told me it would cost $100 to do another diagnostic on it. I took the car elsewhere and found out it had a bad bearing. The proper repair was made. The sound is gone and has been for a couple months now. 2. The air conditioning went out in the car my parent bought from me less than 6 weeks from the used vehicle inspection. I know that's not easy to predict but I feel like they didn't even test to see if there was a pressure differential between the intake and output of the compressor. The ole charge you $99 and do nothing treatment. 3. About 1 week after taking in the car I bought from my employer I popped the hood and found a ziplock bag with a used filter sitting on top of the engine. Can't help but think they didn't even pop the hood and they got me twice with the charge you $99 and do nothing treatment. Lesson learned. If you can swing it, I highly recommend taking your vehicle to A1A Auto in St. Augustine Beach instead. I told them I was going to be out of town Monday-Thursday so they asked me to dropped off my car Sunday night. A1A did the evaluation Tuesday, called me and let me know the damage, made the repairs Wednesday and I picked the car up Thursday after getting back from the airport. read more

They will tell you BEFORE doing the work what the cost will be so there are no unpleasant surprises.They will also tell you if you need to go to a dealership due to the specific software or other expertise being needed for your vehicle. Once you get the estimate from the dealership, you can call them and they'll let you know what you should have the dealership do and what they can do once the dealership has done their part -- this will save you a ton of $$$. My check engine light came on and I got it diagnosed at an autozone and it said that it was the mass air flow sensor so I looked up a shop near me and they came up... and I have to say they are the kindest, most helpful people ever! From the get go, Ralph and Charles were so considerate and actually told me to check to see if my car was under warranty just to make sure I wasn't wasting money. When my car turned out not to be under warranty, I called back and made an appointment to drop off my car. When I came to pick up my car they told me that it was a system update that only the Nissan dealership could do, and that I was good to take my car and didn't even charge me a diagnosis fee, I insisted I pay and they refused and told me to have a good day. I cannot stress how kind and helpful they were, I've never had a better experience with any auto service or dealership, even while buying my car. I've found my new mechanic! I stopped in at JJ's after seeing good reviews on Yelp and the other place I used to go to being farther away. First impressions was how clean and welcoming it was. Then I was greeted with a smile. These guys are so friendly. The waiting room has a nice setup including tv, snacks, drinks and photos of the mechanics and their families. Even the bathroom was nice! I felt the price to repair my vehicle was reasonable and completed in good time. I'm happy to have found this place. We got our Mitsubishi Eclipse back from a clutch repair and it started to overheat,checked fluids and this company drained all of the radiator fluid out before working on it but didn't want to admit,the car has never ran hot or even close to it however jj's still didn't want to admit that it was them that drained it before working on it. I always kept up with the fluids and I also did all the oil changes in it so I would know if fluids were needed and I would definitely know if they had drained the radiator fluid. So if I would definitely stay away from this company because they are nothing but liar's!!!! read more

They honored their price and time quote effortlessly. Making an appointment is best. Their Advisors were friendly and transparent with their pricing. They have a very nice, high end comfortable facility. Ladies will like this. Their restrooms are very clean and well stocked. Parking is easy. They take most credit cards. I got my brakes replaced for my Lexus. I had my original brakes since I bought the car in 2012, so I was very skeptical going to a shop other than the Lexus dealership. (But I def wasn't going to pay "Lexus money" to have my brakes replaced). After Lexus quoted me for the job I got a second opinion at JJ's, which was about $150 less then what Lexus was going to do the job for. They were very professional and honest. The techs seem like he knew and cared a lot about cars. They didn't try to upsale me unnecessary repairs/replacements. I would recommend them if you are particular about who touches your car. The only thing I dont like is their hours. They are only open during the weekdays which is hard for me to work around bc my schedule is tight M-F. It would be nice if they offered some hours on Saturday or Sunday. read more

No one likes it when their vehicle breaks down, But at JJ's the quality of staff and the look of the shop makes it just that little bit easier. I had an issue with my starter, dropped my car off midday and was able to get my car back by lunch the next day. Not to mention when the part provided was faulty, they replaced it for free, and even took care of some other small issues while they were at it. The waiting area is probably one of the nicest ones I have been in, with grey marble looking countertops and ac, you could easily mistake it for a waiting room of a dentist. JJ's take the auto shop feel to the next level.... Feels like a dealership without the dealers high prices. Was having unknown issue with my vehicle, gave them a call and described what I was experiencing the gentleman online said it was pretty bad and told me to bring it in the next morning (gave them a call around 4:30) although they didn't have any open appointments for a week in advance but he assured me they would make the time to see me. When I took the vehicle in they put it up and told me it was the axle so I left the vehicle with them, but through the day they were keeping informed. Around 3pm they asked if could come back in when I showed up, I was told the axle was replaced but it didn't fix the problem but my axle was bad so the gentleman asked if I thought it okay for them to charge me for only the part. Obviously I agree to it, what struck me was that I was asked if I agree with getting charge for the part when I could just been charged without question (part was installed). read more

I was having some starting issues with my Civic, so I did a google search for a good repair shop and JJ's came up in the top results. I'm very glad I chose JJ's as the treatment I received was homely and welcoming with a fast turnaround time. Prices were very reasonable. You can definitely tell they have a passion for working on cars, and that was definitely true in my case. The issue turned out to be a worn starter motor, and they replaced it with a new OEM (Denso) one. All fine and good until a few days later, when it started making a grinding noise. I took the car to JJ's and they indicated it was a defective unit (pretty rare for Denso). The staff apologized profusely and started looking into the issue immediately, they even paid for a Lyft out of pocket for transportation for me. I want to personally thank Charles and the other staff members for treating me like family! I definitely recommend JJ's read more
