After a mistake that caused some minor inconvenience the manager at this pep boys location really went above and beyond to remedy this situation. I made an appointment for 1pm to have tire seals redone. Assistant Service Manager said about an hour wait. I waited 30 mins and they hadn't pulled my car in yet so I inquired about the delay. Assistant Service Manager said they were waiting for a part for the car ahead of me in order to do an oil change. Called at 3pm and another person said it would be 20 to 30 mins more. Tire tech had to take a break. It is 3:42pm and I am still waiting. I will never return here again. Covid protocols are not making them take this long. They just don't care how long you wait. Update: At 4pm, I got my car. When I complained about how long it took the service manager said the tech was taking his time. I had to correct him and said the wait had nothing to do with covid or the tech. I let him know that he should be scheduling jobs per tech and approximate job time. Mike, the Assistant Service Manager said he didn't schedule me. Wonderful. It doesnt change the fact that he could change appointments if they are not scheduled appropriately based on tech availability and job time. Ridiculous! Techs are just doing their job, one after another. Jobs have an allotted time to complete. How hard is it to use that to schedule people appropriately? They ask you what you need done when you make the appointment. Get real. Never again. read more

This Pep Boys went above and beyond to assist my family when we broke down and were towed there. They put two mechanics on the job and we were done and back on the road in 3 hours! Everywhere else said they could not get to in until the next business day. The Store Manager took excellent care of us and made sure we had all our questions answered. Update: So I like to give places a fair shot and I returned to Pep Boys almost a year after my first visit and it was the same nightmare. I was only there for an oil change and I waited 1.5 hours. Not to mention that I had an appointment and there were walk-ins who walked in and out before me. When I was finally called up to the counter, the young man asked if I wanted some additional services, which I declined. He then proceeded to walk away from the counter and help someone else. Ummm, ok. So, I sat back down. He called me back about 5 minutes later and I asked whether he was sure it was ready this time so I would not be stuck standing there like and imbecile again. He snapped that it was ready and I was taken aback because despite my disgust at the wait and the service, I was nothing but nice. I signed my receipt and left. There was no need to argue with him. I have never had such a great experience at a parts store in my life. They were able to answer my questions while autozone was not. THANK GOD FOR PEP BOYS. So my car notifies me while I was on the way home, that the tire pressure is low. Real low. And I had to make a choice--my favorite auto dealer where I purchased the car or Pep Boys in Lansing. I chose the latter. Why? Twice Pep Boys has come through in a crunch (tire repair instead of forcing me to buy new tires). It's Easter weekend and the likelihood of the dealer having my tire in stock is slim. I've experienced it before and ended up waiting a couple of days for it to come. I put some air in the tire, called them and they said "come on in." I was in the line with them praying that I made it before that pressure dropped to dangerously low again. I made it and Reggie was ready when I walked in. The wait was minimal and I was in and out in less than an hour and didn't actually need a new tire. But here's the clincher, they made sure to know that they had one for me just in case. Ok, so yesterday I called and got a quote to repair a ball joint, Stephanie quoted me $426 on the phone and scheduled my appointment the following morning at 8am. I woke up at 7, got there at 7:45 and there was one person waiting for the store to open, so to make sure I was the the very first one in line (because I had to work at 11) I got out and waited by the door in the snow. So I'm the first one to enter and get all set up to go. Then as hours passed by (about 1.5 hours to be exact) the guy at the desk (Manager-Jim) finally calls my name and asks if i want the work done they I set up the previous day, He took me to talk to the mechanic and the mechanic let me know that "the ball joint is attached to the control, so I'd have to replace the control arm" I said fine as long as the price is the same as quoted, he told me it should be the same. So i went back in the waiting room and waited for about another hour, its about 10:00 now (everybody that came in with me before the store opened was gone before me by now) and I'm tired and knowing that i'm about to be late for work because I saw that they still havent started to work on my car, They just took off the old parts without be agreeing to a final price from the guy at the desk (manager-Jim) So about 10:30 Jim finally quotes me a price and says it'll be $678---So I said to hell with him (not those exact words) -- Jim then took me to the back and tried explaining the price is more because I needed some "stabilizing pins" replaced--I told him i didnt want the work done because I wasnt prepared to pay that much and I then asked if they would put my old control arm back on and just let me go, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDNT (which was a bald faced LIE because they did at the end of all this) --when he saw that I wasn't gonna pay the 678, he told me to come to the front with him to "talk" he basically said "ok this what i'll do because we already got the part off and we gotta put it back together (which i didnt tell them to take off in the first place because i didnt agree to pay the final quote, he didnt let me know what i was in for before the started to take off my parts) but he offered to do what needed to be done for $506, supposedly he said he'd "split the price of the ball joints with me" and whatever else he typed in the computer, i think i saw him put something in the "competive price match" area, im wondering first of all, why the hell aint he do that in the first place, thats just making me feel t\distrust and that they "shops are out to get me" which i understand they do that" im also more upset because after all of this, i been here since 8am and we just now discussing all of this crap at 10:30 or so and im about to be late for work. I end up declining that offer too, again told him to just put on my old parts...so he takes about 8 more customers at the desk while he still havent settled what we have going on, then comes to me yet again saying " This is what im gonna do, Would you like to pay the price you were oringinally quoted for?" I said yeah im willing to do that", he told me thats what i was going to have to pay but I wouldnt be able to get the pins...So i thinking okay, so you want me to pay $426 today...then get the pins another day( i asked himt he price he said $72) so i say "ok, so i pay $426 today, then get the pins done another day for 72 bucks....on top of LABOR!...so i still pay over $500!!!!!....I told him NOOO!!!! just put back on my old parts because im done and im late and you're a liar who is just money hungry. ( not in those exact words :P)..so then the A*hole tells me that if he have the mechanic put on the old parts, he's still gonna have to charge me labor for that...im like WTF! uuhh no! i didnt tell you to take them off!.....Its just a bunch of BS coming from this guy, he ACTS so nice and polite like he cares until something doesnt go his way---and im still talking about the MANAGER-JIM. he eventually tells the guy to put it back on, i went back there and let that mfer know I wasnt paying any labor for that and he say "OK, I KNOW YOURE GONNA JUST GO,JUST ...GO AWAY!" now.....im the customer, IM the one who suppose to be acting like that and getting rude, but I kept calm this whole, just looked annpyed, he told me to go away!! what the hell kinda customer service is that!?!? from a manager at that, i will never ever everrrrr return, every time i come here i wait hella long, and get charge outrageous prices. its 11:35 by the time i leave, So im late for work by 45 mins (lost money from work because of them) and now my car squeaks and make weird noises...after alll of that....i leave worse then what i came....lost some money and some times messing about with "the boys"....."DONT TRUST THE BOYS" they will take advantage of you if they feel you wont stand on your own two. I went there to get my headlight bulbs checked. I was quoted a price for the diagnostics($50). They told me bad bulbs, I was quoted $130 to remove bumper, $99 a piece for bulbs. That comes to $378. I then told them about my 20% discount. I figured I could handle $302 plus tax. Needless to say when they were done, my bill was $437 tax included and that was with the SO CALLED discount. I was not happy because I could have had it done at the dealership for that price and they would have put the car back together correctly. Which brings me to them not putting the splash shield back on properly and I had to come back for them to attempt to do that! Well as I'm driving around working the whole shield came off and was dragging on the ground. I had to drive 35 miles back home dragging the shield and missing three hours of work. Called them and they said they would replace it...that was three weeks ago. I called them about a week ago and they tell me they don't have the funds right now to get the part!! So after a back and forth battle with my mother to get her car in for what some mechanic told her she needed a tune up. We went to Pep Boys in Lansing, I am very picky about taking my car to anyone other then the dealer let alone someone else taking theirs. So we ended up here. 8am on the dot store opened by the Manager, we walked in took less then 1 minute for the manager to come up to us since we had a 8am appointment. Took our info, and Omar came out to talk to us. I thought for sure he was going to say my mother needed this and that done to her car and all sorts of things. However to my surprise he asked why we needed a Tune up if the car was making any issues. Long Story short he did not force sale of anything gave us excellent advise, and recommendations and although my mom did change her mind decided to wait on the Tune Up.
