I am very dissatisfied with the service that you have given to my son Patrick bowling. He has spent $600 to get his Cadillac repaired but apparently no one is professional enough at this location to fix it correctly. How can you claim to have repaired a vehicle that barely wants to start before driving off the lot. The corporate office needs to look into this I do not believe that is Pep Boys as a corporation in general but it's just very unprofessional people. My son went to this Pep Boys location because his car developed a problem just as he was passing by it. Boy was that an unlucky break! The folks at Pep Boys told him he had a broken axle and that it would be $400 to repair it. He trusted them. He paid for the repair and left. The next day, the same problem that caused him to go into Pep Boys, happened again! He went back and was told that he needed $1200 of repair work to the steering, including a rack, tie rod ends, front end alignment and a power steering flush. My son and I were both skeptical about this so we looked for a second opinion and took the car to another mechanic. Upon inspection, none of the repairs recommended by Pep Boys were actually needed. The problem turned out to be a ruined tire which had shifted on the rim and was causing all the vibration and noise. The tire was replaced, alignment checked and adjusted and he was on his way in less than a day for the cost of the tire, balancing and a cursory alignment adjustment. I feel that the management at this Pep Boys location saw an opportunity to sell parts unnecessarily and took it. Up until this time, I've had good luck with Pep Boys. This incident has soured me on the entire franchise and made me wonder if that $400 axle really was broken and needed to be repaired in the first place. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Pep Boys nor would I consider recommending this business as a reputable source for auto repair. read more

All I can say is horrible! Why even make an appointment. I made an appointments for 1 for an oil change and was told it would be around 2 or 2:30 before they could get to it. I left and went down the road and just paid a little more at Valvoline and they could do it right then. My husband tri d them again again a few days later to get new tires and made an appointment for 11 got there at 10:30 and they didn't start working on his truck until after 1. Why even have appointments? I understand they have to finish the ones in the garage but that is ridiculous. It has been that way the last 2 times I have gone but I thought I would give them one more chance. NO MORE!!! read more

Awful! I had an appointment and it still took an hr for an oil change. Then when checking out, the guy got mad at me because I asked for a conventional oil change, but my coupon was for the pep boys conventional oil change. Please explain to me the difference and I told them up front I had a coupon! On top of that, their sign says 3 types of oil changes: conventional, synthetic, and high mileage. It doesn't say anything about different types of conventional oil changes. Not my fault, he should have done his job! When they were checking me out, they were talking about how someone just called in to complain that one of the four tires they gave them was the wrong size...how unprofessional! read more

Ok, so I can't speak for everyone, but I think it's important to share a recent experience. My mother and aunt were visiting Nashville from out of town. Mom is from Louisiana and aunt is from North Carolina. Both members of AARP. Much to my dismay my mother told me her clutch gave out late last night (Saturday) and the car had to be towed. The tow truck driver dropped off the car at this shop. When I saw the reviews I thought, here we go, I'm going to be getting on a plane before this is over. This is going to be a classic case of two 'older' women getting taken advantage of while out of town. It's a Sunday of a holiday weekend, something relatively minor is going to turn into a $2000 deal, and they're going to be stranded in Nashville for a week. I could just feel the blood pressure rising. Much to our pleasant surprise Cody (I apologize if that's incorrect) just called saying after Adam (the mechanic) took a look all it needed was some fluids and my mother will be back on the road shortly. They did the right thing. Can't tell you how refreshing it was. From what I can tell their track record may not be great but maybe they're turning it around. At least Adam is. Make sure you ask for him when you drop your car there. He's definitely a straight shooter. Cody was a great help too. Thanks again from our whole family for getting our favorite ladies back on the road!!!!! read more

I was in Nashville Tenn. in August 2018 and Pop boys was up the road. Their towing co. had it towed there. Called them and a few hours later my Truck arrived. I was told later on that the fuel pump had gone out. They said they had the part in stock and they would have it done in the morning by 11 am. When I called them the next day they said the water pump they had in stock was wrong size so they had to order one. It would be in this afternoon and they would have it done by 6pm. It was getting close to 6pm so I called them. The part hadn't come in yet so I had to call off from work on Friday because I had a 6 hour drive ahead of me. Finally it was done on Friday around 11am. I finally got home in Kentucky. I went to leave for work on Monday morning and apparently the connection to the gas tank and the gas pump came lose and I started losing my gas as I was driving down the road. I smelled gas and turned around heading back home. When I got home all of my gas was gone. I had to have it towed to Carx and they repaired it. Long story short It cost me around 1,300.00. Pep Boys ended up reimbursing me 4 to 7 weeks later for my towing bill, full tank of gas I lost and the cost to repair it at Carx. Which came to 265.22. I will never go back there again. I would trust Richard and Steve to work on my car every time. They are honest and will treat you right. They have worked on my car several times and I always feel safe getting in the driver's seat after they finish. Most of my issues stemmed from wheel bearings and they are patient when explaining the mysteries that go on under the hood and ensuring that they keep me in the loop about how long the repair might take. I have always had a good experience here and will continue to let them work on my Jeep as long as we live within driving distance. I like that they can get a feel for my car and for how to deal with me. read more

This place advertises thirty-minute oil changes. So I made an appointment for 9am. Three hours and fifteen minutes later they were finally done. Need I say more? Okay, I'll break it down for you. I arrived at my 9am appointment about five minutes early. The person at the service desk said, "It'll be just a couple of minutes. I've got a mechanic who is finishing up and you'll be next." So far, so good. Unfortunately, that's where the 'so good' ends. One hour and fifteen minutes later, finally, a mechanic comes to the parking lot to get my vehicle. He backs out of the parking space, and starts forward. A person from the service desk comes outside and stops the mechanic. After a brief conversation, the mechanic pulls my vehicle back into a parking space, gets out, goes inside and gets the keys and paperwork to another vehicle, and pulls it in and works on it. To make matters worse, when the mechanic pulled my vehicle back into a parking spot...it was a handicap parking spot. There is nothing about me, or my vehicle that's handicapped. it disgust me when I see people parking in handicap space when they are not handicap. Yet, my vehicle sits in a handicap space thanks to the mechanic, who was pulled out of my vehicle to work on another. What happened to, "You're next", and "It'll be just a couple of minutes"? At this point, I'm about to 'blow a gasket', as the saying goes. Rather than create a disturbance inside their business, I decided to take out my frustrations here at the keyboard. So here I am. Besides, I wanted to see how this played out. At no point did anyone from the service desk call me to the counter, or come to me in the waiting area and apologize for the long delay. After more than two and a half hours, they finally pulled my vehicle in. At the three hour and fifteen minute mark, they were finished...and so am I. I will never return to this place, for any reason, as long as I live. Their website, and signs on the door advertise thirty-minute oil changes. Not true. Lastly, I will say that if you need an oil change, do not ever, never ever, go to Pep Boys. I would go to Jiffy Lube, or Valvoline. Hell, I can get a faster oil change at the dealership. It's interesting to note that there were customers who came in after me, got their vehicles worked on, and were able to drive away before me. And I had an appointment! read more

Awful. I made An appointment for an oil change and I still had to wait an hour. What's the point of making an appointment? When it hit the 30 minute mark one of the cashiers came over and told me I should walk around the store and look at their products if i was bored. It makes me think they just made me wait so I would spend money in their store. I'm not going to buy anything from you when you wasted so much of my time. Then when I checked out the cashier in me a hard time because I got the wrong oil change. When he asked me which oil change I wanted I told them I had a coupon for a conventional oil change and then I checked out he said I got a conventional oil change and my coupon was for the Pep Boys conventional oil change. What's the difference? Their sign says they've three types of oil changes conventional synthetic and high mileage. It doesn't say anything about different types of conventional oil changes. And how is that my fault? And during Check out they were talking about another customer who just called and complained because they bought four tires and one of them that they put on with the wrong size! I had emergency work done in Knoxville on a trip which was to replace a bad alternator. The battery light did not go off with this new alternator. They said they checked and it was charging fine. It was Sunday evening, they were closing, and they had no other alternator to put on to see if the one they just put in was defective or not. The light was not on before the alternator was put on the car. Came home and my regular mechanic said, I should take it to Madison and have them replace the alternator to see if it was defective. I went to Pepboys in Madison, and asked if they would replace it to see if it was bad. They said they would not because it was charging fine. They would take in my car and check for other problems that might be the cause. I said I just wanted they to see if it was the alternator. My husband went back another day and talked with the manager and asked them about it again. They said they would keep the car and look it over. They kept the car 1/2 day and then told us we needed a new instrument panel. That would cost several hundred dollars. They would need to get it from a dealer and would call back with a price. Didn't heard back. I took it to Woodard Automotive, and Joe said he would replace the alternator and if that didn't fix the light, he would put the one from Pepboys back in and not charge me. He put a new alternator in and it fixed the problem. Pepboys would not listen to me and just replace the alternator to see if that was the problem. Instead of doing a 30 minute replacement, they spent the day looking over my car and telling me something else was wrong. When I went to talk to them about how the new alternator did the trick, they never apologized or owned up to the mistake. They had excuse after excuse about why they would not just try a new alternator. None which made any sense, since the problem was the alternator. Instead of having the problem resolved at the Pepboys closest to me, I had to call and get a refund from the Pepboys in Knoxville. The Madison branch gave such bad service. read more

It took more than 4 hours to install 4 tires on my vehicle. I could understand that it took 2 1/2 hours to get the vehicle in the shop because the shop was grievously understaffed, however once in the shop it took more than an hour to replace the tires. The tire installer (I use that description loosely), seemed to be very incompetent in his job and went so far as to beat the wheel weights off of my aluminum wheel with a hammer and screwdriver while I was watching from the service desk (must be common practice because the service writer went to help him do it). This resulted in scratches and a gouge in the wheel. Luckily this is an older, spare vehicle, but not a very good practice to damage customer vehicles. I am a former automotive technician and it should have only taken 30 to 45 minutes to install a set of tires. There was no other work performed. Very unacceptable. Unless no other options are available, I will never patronize Pep Boys again. read more
