Wow I have had several jobs completed on various vehicles that I have had but never put a review out and today is a must! I had my truck serviced on the first day of the year. (Right they were open New Year's Day) I had a battery, oil change, air filter, shocks and alignment. I recently had a starter and manifold seals replaced. I want to personally thank Loren. This guy has went the extra mile to help me get my truck up and running. All of the people I have encountered at Pep Boys have always been helpful, patient and understanding. They go the extra mile. I also be had my other car worked on and got new tires, and balanced. All the Pep Boys shops are great but I prefer the Madison store. on 5/25/25, I called Pep Boys and Bryce answered the phone. I inquired about having a 4 wheel balance for my Toyota. Bryce assured me that he would work me in. I arrived, checked in with Bryce and a few minutes later, Michael had my car inside and was working on balancing my 4 Michelin tires. Michael took the time to step inside to assure me that it would be good this time as the previous balance done elsewhere was at least 3 oz off on all 4 tires. Bryce reattached the dust cover for me. Eric was a bit frustrated. Understandable? Yes, excuses his attitude? No. I got here at 8:45, earlier than I was told the day before to make sure I was able to be seen but as soon as I got there I was turned down because I needed an appointment. I was shocked and told him that the service person that spoke with my husband did not do an appointment even though he asked for one but said we didn't need one. After he let his annoyance out, he proceeded to check me in and said next time make sure to make an appointment (sure I will, but I can't do anything about it if the person answering doesn't make it). They have a new lobby and area so it nice. Overall it was an ok experience. They did get my car in and fixed in a reasonable amount of time. read more

The alignment guy here is one of the best in the business. I drive an older Outback. I've had the Subaru dealership try to force me to buy a new car...because something might break. I've even had another local Pep Boys quote me a new rear end suspension. This Pep Boys has mine done in a half hour sometimes. No complaints. No issues. The alignment I get at this shop is better than the ones I get when I'm forced to go somewhere else and they don't try to upsell me. read more

Tire replacement warranty is a joke, purchased tires 4 months prior from this location and had a nail. Needed replacement and was charged a pro-rated fee, service handling and had to pay another warranty fee to "re-warranty" the new tire. These tires were practically brand new. Customer service complaint made and nothing was resolved, and no refund was offered. 2nd complaint. My wife purchased tires approximately 2 years ago, had to have a replacement tire because of nail and was not charge anything. Additionally, she made an online appt for 8:00 a.m. showed up to have tires rotated and was told the technician would not be there until 10. So she rescheduled the very next day for 11:00, gets there and was told that the technician "called off" and that they would not be able to even "try to get to it" for a couple of hours. To top all of this off, when I did originally get my tires put on, they were mounted incorrectly and I had to return and have them inspected, which were found to have been done incorrectly. Thank goodness nothing happened prior to having them mounted correctly. I should have learned my lesson the first time. This service is unacceptable. We will not be returning to this location again. Obviously, my family is not the only people who have experienced the same type of situation by all the reviews on this page. read more

Worst service ever. We purchased a oil change package through pep boys with our used car from Hertz. We made several attempts to get the oil changed, but were told by this pep boys that the verification service was down on the weekend. After reaching out to the service ourselves, we found that this wasn't true, and pep boys was breaching contract by turning us away. After a few phone calls we were finally next in line to get an oil change. Less than one week later the car started pouring oil out into the driveway. Upon inspection I found that pep boys did not change the oil filter, but instead left it loose. If these guys can't simply change oil, I doubt they can do any major repairs. On 5/23 I had Pep Boys service my tires. On the way home from the store, my tire blew out, putting my life in severe danger. Pep Boys refused to take responsibility for the incident and instead chose to blame it on not buying the tire from them. The tire was clearly overinflated. Took my car here for an inspection. My boyfriend took it as i stayed with our child. They made him wait for hours before even telling him anything. He had been there from 11-4 before he decided to come home since they said it would be another hour. He left my car there and came home. They then called him and stated that the reason they took so long was because they ordered the wrong spark plugs TWICE. how does that even happen? They wanted to keep my car over night and give a 10% discount. a discount for wasting his time and not telling him from jump that they kept ordering the wrong things? So I decided not to let them work on it after all and so they put the original parts back. I went to pick up my car and it sounded WAY WORSE than when i dropped it off to begin with. I brought it back and told them that it was running way worse. The manager, Tyler, was on the phone with the receptionist and he talked to me like i was stupid. He was speaking slow like i didn't understand and still continued to lie to me. he said "When you put the same parts back in the car will run worse", that's an absolute LIE and i knew it. I hope his dumbass sees this too cause he's really just out here lying to people. I also verified with my brother (who is a mechanic and has worked on this car multiple times, but isn't currently in the country so can't), and my brother ALSO stated that it should still sound the same, and if it sounds worse than they did not put it back together right. so yeah, do NOT go here. it's a scam. the original price they wanted to charge was $480 too. for a simple job like this? I bought the CORRECT spark plugs/coil on my own on the first try . costed me $125 versus their $480. this place is a definite scam and they really don't know what they're doing. read more

Just moved to Nashville, excited there is a Pep Boys here and it was 20mins away. Went online to make an appointment for shocks and struts. Entered the year make and model of my vehicle. The appt. was confirmed online. Waited 4 days, get there bright and early only to be told at check in the parts I would need have to be ordered or buy them myself and bring it in. I was shocked. Why would an appointment be made if the parts weren't available? Now I have to search for the parts and bring them (or not). Went in to get new rotors and pads installed. They had my truck all day and called to tell me they were unable to get my rotors off. I picked up my truck and i heard grinding on the way home. When i parked smoke was coming out from wheel well. I took the wheel off and noticed they had warped and broke the rotor so bad that it was rubbing the caliper bracket causing friction so bad that it melted my abs sensor and the outer boot on my cv axle. They also ruined my wheel hub by beating on the rotor. They turned a $100 job into a $1500 job. I did some research online and purchased all parts including the ones Pep Boys ruined. I did all the work in my garage with basic tools. How does a store with experienced mechanics and all the tools in the world fail so badly at a job I did in my garage? read more

DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! I brought my vehicle in for new tires and alignment because they were much less expensive. First they took over 4 hours to complete the service. Afterwards it was pulling hard to the right worse than before they "worked on it" When I brought it back they informed me that "They are made to veer to the right for safety reasons." I was told this by the cashier, and the shop manager when I questioned him. After giving them 4 attempts to make it right, and all of my wasted time I ended bringing in to another company who found the issue in the suspension and repaired it. The people here are dangerous and should not be allowed to work on vehicles. Someone is going to eventually get in a car accident and be seriously injured from trying to deal with their inexperience!! read more

I had about 15 miles to travel and even though I was ill and didn't want to get out of bed I wasn't going to cancel. When I arrived I was told that I would have to wait 4-5 hours and that I didn't have an appointment even though Bob said I had one on Monday. I left in a very ugly way. You're joking right?! Thank goodness I only went in for an oil change. Slow, ignorant and disrespectful pretty much sums it up. My vehicle was up on the rack for exactly one hour before the guy even got to the filter. As I waited for my slow-motion oil change (it took 1hr. and 40 minutes) I couldn't help but overhear the plight of the other poor souls waiting to be gouged. One guy had waited over 3 hours just to hear a diagnosis of the problem. So, as I was waiting to pay for my guaranteed 29 minute oil change, two employees were having a conversation (using profanity I might add) a customer walked up to ask a question. Well, they continued their conversation for at least a minute before acknowledging her. Once they did, they acted intruded upon. I feel they do a competent job on the engine/tire needs, although I wish I had a guy who would really get to know me and my vehicles needs. If I could do zero stars I would! This place has the worse communication, took my truck in on a Wednesday never heard from them I finally called on Sunday FOUR days later for an update. Got a whole run around how they can't find the part. My whole question is why wasn't this communicated at any point?! Truck has been in 3 times now. First fix they didn't notice a broken piece, two weeks later it breaks again. They go to replace said piece and brake bolts off! And what to charge us 600 plus to fix their problem. I blew out a couple tires because of debris just down the highway from PepBoys. Unfortunately I was driving to Alabama at the time with my cat in tow and no knowledge of the area. I was towed there and the employees and manager Cody went above and beyond to not only get me back on the road but were so understanding of me having a cat in their store. I even had damaged my wheel but Cody found one in the store and got me back on the road even though it was a Sunday. Every single person there was so nice and wonderful to talk to. Showed up to my appointment only to see technician make a fit about having to mount tires on my vw. When they finished, I noticed a day later, in big bold letters on the wall oh the tires reading: inside. Yes, they mounted my asymmetrical tires backwards. Immediately drove back to the store and said o needed to wait 2 hours. They did not even apologize for their mistake, or my inconvience. These people are incompetent. Period. I have never in the 17 years that I have owned cars had as awful an experience as I have at this Pep Boys. They tried to over charge me, tacked on extended warranty and only when I reviewed the charges did I see it. The intial toal was $562.00 after reviewing the bill the new total was $403.00 big difference. The customer service was seriously lacking, I was left on hold, disconnected at one point. Told they ordered the wrong part and the right one was conviently $40 more. They are the typical shady auto mechanic. What a nightmare experience!!!!! I wouldn't even give it one star. They do get busy at times and oil changes can take a while if this happens but if I'm too busy to do my own I'm not going to complain that they take their time to do it right. Okay I realize I am repeating myself but these guys came through for me AGAIN. I was rear ended on Monday night (10/20). I do not have a police report yet so I cannot get the man's insurance to do anything. To continue to drive safely I needed rear lights which worked for lights, brakes, turn signals. I called and Jim understood my needs and told me to come in for them to take a look. Cody was at the desk when I got there and was shocked to see my van in that condition and wrote it up. Jason was my mechanic and preformed the miracles that were needed to make it work properly and be legal. Not only that they taped up the back with clear plastic to keep out the rain and cold air so I could drive. Never underestimate the boys.
