Before I got up to the door to realize the store was closed, I drove into a hole in the parking lot. The hole is filled with rainwater, so didn't see it. My daughter purchased a brand new battery on 5/31. Her car died twice in the last 7 days and had to be towed both times by AAA. The alternator and battery were checked both times and we were told that the battery was low and needed to be replaced, despite being brand new. When my daughter brought the battery back to Pep Boys to exchange it, she was told by Alfered, that there was nothing wrong with her battery, even though it was checked twice and that was the diagnosis. My husband brought Alfred outside to show him the battery and tbete was battery acidall over the outside the battery and corrosion was all over the ports. Another associate came outside and agreed that there was something wrong with the battery and that it should be changed as did another sales associate. However, the associate stated that he was an assistant manager and Alfred was higher than him and Alfred overrode his decision and would not change the battery. Alfred then proceeded to call the police and say that my husband threatened to kill him and he was afraid. All other sales associates stated that this did not happen, but the Piscataway police department stated that because Alfred called, they will be charging my husband with trespassing and he will have to go to court. The store agreed to give my daughter a battery, but would not change it, which is all we asked for to begin with. So now we have the battery and have to go to court because of an incompetent manager who refused the one free battery exchange that my daughter was entitled to. We have always been completely satisfied with all the work they have done on our cars. I have booked my car appointments online through their website and that has worked out very smoothly, no glitches. The staff here is polite and pleasant. Pep Boys usually has some discount, sale, or rebate, so we have gotten good deals by being part of the rewards program. I usually grab a meal next door at the Fontainbleau Diner while my car is being worked on. Sometimes I wait in the little lounge area at the Pep Boys and drink their free coffee and watch their tv. The store sells all sorts of useful car products as well as some bottled beverages and snacks so I can kill time browsing the aisles. It's actually pretty comfortable to hang around here while waiting for my car. We certainly will keep coming back here since they have consistently done great work at a good price. I walked over to the service area where they were able to install on a lexus $60 in about 45 minutes. She came and complain and they pump additional air into the tires and all tires had different pressures. Some as high as 39 and 37 PSI - they claimed that this is normal. Customers are not stupid. And claimed how would we know. Customers have digital tire gauge as well. Claimed that TPMS May be at fault. I have a tire gauge. Huge customer safety concern here! 0 stars if I could. I had a very noticeable air bubble in my front tire so I had ordered on tirerack.com for the tire to be shipped to a nearby tire store, so I chose this Pep Boys location. I got into the shop at my appointment time and let the front desk guy know that I was there to have the tire replaced only. After a while they ask me to come out to look at the computerized alignment, a service I didn't authorize prior. At the end, the front desk guy told me the charges of over $160 for a tire replacement. I let him know that I had paid for the tire on tirerack.com already for $154, and he made up some lie telling me that I only paid tirerack.com to HOLD the tire while the shop fee of over $160 was TO PAY FOR the tire itself and that's it. I told him all I authorized and wanted was for the tire to be balanced and replaced, nothing more than $30 ($22 estimate on tirerack). I asked him to show me the itemized paper receipt which he was holding in his hand. He did not put down the receipt or let go of it, and he reinforced that the charges were for the tire itself. After, he told me there was a $17 warranty fee that he can take down. I agreed and I watched him play with the computer and the total due amount stayed the same, even when he said that my total was final with the $17 warranty taken down. This man really told me, to my face, that he took the charge out, while I watched the register and see that the balance did not go down one cent. I paid and went home. After a few days days (Saturday) I looked over the receipt given to me, and in all caps across the top, the cashier really typed "CUSTOMER AUTHORIZED SERVICES AND APPROVED OF CHARGES, WITH INCREASE" I decided to dispute as I never authorize anything more than a tire replacement and balance. I had already paid for the tire on tirerack and this man knew it! I called the shop and it must have been the same guy picked up the phone. I explained to him my situation and he went over the receipt. I insisted I wanted a refund and the man said he had no access to refunds until Tuesday, but kept offering me a few free oil changes to get it over with instead. I said no and called corporate to file a formal complaint. After getting in touch with corporate, I received a call back from the shop telling me the refunds were approved and to come back on Tuesday for my refund. I came back into the shop on Tuesday without much issues getting my refund for the services that I did not know about or approve. The man listed as the salesman is Christophe(r?) Very dishonest and very bad business practices, lied to my face not only about the breakdown of the total costs but also taking down an extra charge which he did not end up doing. I will not be coming back here and advise everyone else to not come around this tire shop because they really tried to take advantage of a paying customer who only needed a tire replacement. Recently had my car serviced at this particular location. The proffesioalism is non existent . They kept my car for two days and didn't even fix the issue they charged me for and wanted to charge me again for a second attempt at fixing the issue. I was already inconvienced and frustrated so I came to get my car. Leaving the same way I brought it in no progress. There we're no efforts made by any of the staff to satisfy me as the customer. To make matters even more frustrating when I came to pick my key up to take my car home. There we're three people ahead of me in line and it took 20 min to get my keys and leave. I had read the yelp reviews of several Pep Boy Tire shops in the area, so I already knew of the potential bad service. However, I thought, perhaps, that they were exaggerated claims or that the people writing them might have been somewhat picky. I confirmed today that the negative reviews were accurate. I called ahead of time to see if they could attend me to have my tired inspected. They said it was a slow day and that I could be attended relatively quickly. When I arrived in person, they said the wait would be about 20 minutes (I was only getting an inspection and no service beyond that). An hour later, waiting in their cold and aesthetically displeasing waiting room, I still hasn't received any update. Considerate of varied work conditions, I didn't complain but waited patiently. When they finally called me to give me an update, it was by mistake since someone else had a similar car. I then asked for an update for my car. The assistant manager who attended me looked confused. When he checked on my car, it turned out that they hadn't even started my inspection! This was unacceptable and made it clear. They tried to remedy the situation by handling my inspection immediately. The inspection took less than 5 minutes, which is why I had agreed to wait in the first place. Instead of replacing my tired with this shop, as was recommended, I decided to not contribute financially to this business--this place does not deserve $700+ that it would cost for the new tires. Instead, I'm going elsewhere. Since the supervisor was not at work today, I made it clear to the manager or their unprofessional service, of their bad reviews on yelp, and how I would later contact the supervisor to reiterate my critiques. They told me it would cost another $69 because it would take them 45 minutes! $369 for a battery installation! I called AAA and they said they would do it for $196! I had gotten a set of 4 tires at a pep boys in north brunswick and I was having a slow leak from one tire, so I took it to the closer pep boys in piscataway, and all I can say is STAY AWAY from that particular location. They would not let me make an appointment and then had me wait from 11am to 530 pm for them to check on my tire and additionally, I am convinced that they lied about even checking it. They said they did not find any problem or item causing a leak and "said" they resealed the tire and sent me on my way after hours of waiting for something that should have taken a short period of time. They were extremely rude and dismissive in addition to their lack of accomodation for a simple issue. Because of this, I had to spend additional time taking it to the original store where they installed the tires and they were very nice there and found the nail that was in my tire within an hour and charged me the $25 to patch it. There some noise on my car so we decided to check and chose Pepboys in Piscataway. They evaluated and found something in cooling fan so they gave us a quote and paid the money. After we picked up at night the next day going to my work I almost got in accident. Check engine warning pop up, my car start jerking, and the hood a lot of smoke came out. I started to get nervouse, and still blessed and lucky i got a chance to stop and run and still a lot of smoke on my car. I called my husband and brother. I had an issue with my car, heading out to Long Island I hit a pothole in Piscataway on way to 287. No wonder there as Piscataway roads are the worst roads in maybe the nation. I REACHED OUT TO Pep Boys Piscataway and they had me towed in for less than 30 bucks, I gave tow guy 20 gratuity, all good on a flat bed. I just want to say Jonathan and Jocelyn helped me out BIG TIME. ABOVE AND BEYOND ROUTINE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THESE TIRES I HAVE ARE PROBLEMS, low profile not good for NJ roads. The tire I had on the car was a Goodyear Eagle that I purchased on 3/24. They did ALL the research and found out I had road hazard warranty on the tire that blew. New tire FREE. JONATHAN AND JOCELYN made it all possible. Saved me over 200.00 that I was prepared to spend. I was in a jam and they got me out of it. Hats off to Pep Boys Piscataway. A big way to go. My 18 yo daughter, a student at the Univ of Tenn Knoxville, had a flat tire on her civic, after being at the Univ for the first two weeks of her first year. She took the tire and rim to Pep Boys at 4770 Centerline Drive, Knoxville, TN 37917. They didn't have the tire and had to order it. She went back two days later when they got the tire in. They had mounted it on the rim, but told her they didn't have time to put it on the car, and that she could go to Firestone 5 minutes away and they'd take care of her. She went to Firestone, who told her Pep Boys hadn't even balance the tire, and that Pep Boys had clearly done her a very unprofessional disservice, as the purchase price of the tire everywhere else includes mounting, balancing, and installing the tire. Firestone balanced the tire for half price, and put it on the car for free. I highly recommend you DO NOT utilize this Pep Boys store, or any other if their company is going to take advantage of young students. Very unprofessional, and fortunately for her, she learned a good lesson about a company that cannot be trusted, and to never do business with again. 'Caveat Emptor.' read more

I was told they'd do the oil change right away and they'd let me know within an hour if I needed to have brake work done. I watched as other people, most seemingly without appointments, came and went. A gentleman with a 3 pm appointment complained at 3:25 and his car was taken in. Thinking my car was being serviced, I blissfully waited until 3:45, when I saw my car was still where I'd parked it! Frank, the "Service" Manager, said they'd had a mechanic go to the hospital. No one said anything about this and other customers ere being serviced, so his excuse, IMHO, is spurious. I will take this as far up the corporate food chain as necessary. Oh and I paid $18.00 to have them do an analysis. What are service fees aka "pocket fees" I asked? The answer was unclear and are not listed under the labor cost. I told them not to do the work. I had my car towed the next morning to a garage where I was quoted $562.00 parts and labor included. I will never go back to Pep Boys. They should be investigated. read more

This place is horrible. They will tell you whatever you need to hear to get your service. What ever you do, DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR ALONE WITH THEM. Soon as you leave they will not fix or work on your car. I dropped off my car at 9am and left at 10am. Was told it would be done by 2. I got no call, called them at 4, they said call back at 6. I called at 7, they said call back the next day. I dont know what happened from 10am - 8PM with my car. You have to watch them work on your car to ensure the work gets done. I was trying to get someone to check my transmission fluid. I stopped at a gas station and another Automotive store the day before and no one knew how to check the fluid. I stopped at Goodyear on Easton Ave and they said I would have to leave the car there JUST to have the transmission fluid checked ! I went to Pep Boys and EVERYONE there was sooooo helpful. When I explained to the guy at the Service & Parts desk that I just needed someone to check the transmission fluid, he told me to just pull the car up to the bay. Several of the guys that were working there stopped what they were doing to ask what I needed. They checked the transmission fluid AND the oil. One of the guys there advised me what type of oil to buy when I was advised that I was low on oil. They put oil in the tank and asked if I needed anything else. WOW, what GREAT customer service !
