I grew up in Reno and my first car was taken to one of these quick lubes and they rushed and ruined my engine.It was after that I started to do my own oil changes and anything else I would go to the dealer for. I would go here to only by stuff to do my own oil changes and never thought about the service department cause of what I had read and it was not only this store , but others in the area. People complain about having to wait , prices and mistakes. It was my Step-Daughter that first had service done here. She was going to start at CSSD the next day and her car did not start. AAA came out and said that the battery needed charging , she was told to go to Pep Boys and they will charge the battery for free. She went there and yes they charged the battery , but it was not holding the charge. My daughter called me and Terrence had showed her the results and that we needed a new battery. I was really skeptical since I had read the reviews. I drove down there and a mechanic there took me to the car and performed the test in front of me and it tested bad. I was still not sure and wanted a second opinion. I called AAA and they came to the store performed a similar test in the parking lot and it tested bad again. It turned out the driver was not able to replace it cause he claimed it needed a new cable. Why didn't Pep Boys tells us that ? I went back in upset and demanded to speak to the manager. I meet Michael , showed him the estimate which said nothing about a cable needing to be replaced and now it was too late in the day to get the car to the dealer and have it fixed the same day and now she would not make it to school in time. Michael apologized if they missed anything , he assured me that he would make it right and asked that we go look at the car. We go out to the car , he opens the hood and said that he may only need a terminal if anything replaced besides the battery. Long story short , I only needed the battery , they don't charge to put it in and he even found me a coupon that saved me 10%.. That was last year and ever since that day we always go there. I went there yesterday because my engine light came on and Michael offered to pull the code for free to see what was going on , because the guy was backed up on work and I could not wait unless it was something serious. He pulled the code and he checked my gas cap , it turns out it was missing. I bought a new cap. I told him I was going to do this , since in the last year they have demonstrated to me time and time again that they know how to treat a customer. I would like to start by saying that I have never "yelped" before today. Last week my Step-daughter went to this PepBoys location in Reseda. She needed to buy some brake pads for her car , that another place told her she needed cause they were worn out. When she told me that she needed brakes I was astonished , she just had them replaced at a dealer a few months back. When she asked for the parts , they asked her a question that she did not know. They called the service area and spoke with Mike and they sent her over to him. She went to see him. They went to her car and thanks to her rims , he could easily see the brake pads were thick and it was probably the material. He looked at her receipt and noticed that they had replaced the brake pads , and not the hardware. It was at that point that she called me and told me everything. I spoke with Mike and he explained to me the importance of doing a proper brake job includes replacing the spring hardware clips that holds the parts in place , specially on Toyotas. .He was surprised that the from the looks of things the dealer put the old ones back on. I don't know a great deal when it comes to cars , but even I know that springs wear out. I called the dealer that did the work and they claimed that they changed it . She took it to them and yes , they had not changed it. Yes , they fixed it at no charge , but we have lost faith in them. Thanks to Mike my Step-daughter and I have faith in Pep Boys , at least this location. They could have easily sold her some brake pads and she could have paid someone to put them onto the car. Instead she took it back to the dealer and made them fix their mistake. I think it has taught her a life lesson to always get a second opinion. read more

ONE OF THOSE ONCE IN A LIFETIME SITUATIONS: My battery died and I was stranded. I called my roadside assistance and got a jumpstart knowing that if I turned my car off, it WOULD NOT start up again. I took that gamble and drove to Pep Boys. Without a single penny in my pocket, no credit card and a relative miles away over the hill in the West end of LA, I walked into the store in dire need of serious assistance. The store manager (James) got out of his way to help. My relative went to the Pico Blvd location to pay for the battery so that I could be on the road, off to work. Not only did the manager take a good half hour out of his day to contact the other locations manager, he also made me feel very comfortable in the very awkward and vulnerable situation that I was in (i take it that normally, these kinds of things are normally not in business protocol). Its good to know that people still have that genuine strive to help their fellow man. I am new to the San Fernando Valley , and needed to get a stop light changed on my car. So I go to auto zone like always , but they don't install them. Auto zone told me to try Pep Boys on Reseda Blvd. I drove down and spoke with Leo and he told me to drive around and go inside to the service desk. I walked inside and asked where do I go for service . Mike asked me what he could do for me and I told him I needed help with having a light bulb installed. He walked out to my car and saw which one was out and asked that I open then trunk. I handed him the bulb and he promptly put it in . I asked how much and he told me not to worry about it . I visited this location about two weeks ago. I was driving on the freeway and my car just stopped. I was towed to the store on Reseda Blvd. The driver tried to get me to go elsewhere , I said no take me to Pep Boys. Walter tells me to go inside and see Mike at the service desk. I meet Mike , he immediately greets me. I explained to him what happened and we went to my car. He got some information and when he opened the hood he noticed that one battery cable was off. He went and got a tool and put it back on. it was one of those you see in a movie , a simple turn of something and the car started. I had my starter replaced previously , somewhere else , and they did not put it back correctly. The car started and I have had no other problems. I asked how much ? He told me nothing , WOW ! I don't ever write reviews but I had to because the manager Rudy at pepboys went above and beyond for me yesterday when I went to get an oil change! I walked in and he took care of me immediately especially since I had to drive 2 hours away and needed the oil change fast and in a hurry! he also saw that my mirror was coming off on the side of the car and he took it into his hands to apply something on it so that it wouldn't come off and break, Rudy went above and beyond my expectations and did so much in such little time that was the fastest oil change ever lol! Worst place I have ever taken my car!!! Sal the customer service rep was rude and very short. I asked for a good estimate on the time it would take to get my car serviced because I needed my car back before 6 to go to an event. He told me it would be done for sure at 5. I call at around 5:15 because he hasn't called me back to let me know it's ready and they had not even started my car. Long story short I didn't get my car back til 7:30 missed my event. "This location suffers from having only HATERS " something someone else wrote. I agree. I have been going here for a couple of years and always have great service. Terrence , Mike and Walter are always so nice to me and my girls. I know they are not the cheapest or maybe the best. I know that I will be treated like a human and not as a $ sign. I went into a couple other auto part stores and the employees couldn't find the parts I needed and weren't helpful at all .I went into pepboys and they were friendly and very helpful . They were able to find all the parts I needed and the cashier Claudia even helped me walk them to my car . I would definitely recommend going to Pep Boys, they are nice. read more

Edy Coronado is the best !!!!! Came here last minute because I ran over a nail and needed one tier changed. He went over and beyond the call of service. I'm super impressed. Came in today for an oil change, Esequiel saw that we we're waiting and immediately came over to help. He took care of everything, came and got us when he saw us in the waiting room when our car was ready. It took exactly 30 minutes. Surprised by the bad reviews, had to take my car in as my battery was dying. This was the closest place and it was open, my battery was checked quickly and they told me it was faulty. I had them put a new battery in, I was in and out within 30 minutes and there was no labor fees or anything. Would recommend for quick services. read more

Brought my old Ford in and was told that they couldn't fix the ignition! After I had already waited 45 minutes for a mechanic to become available and take a 15 second look at my car only to tell me he couldn't do the job... this place is a farce. Horrible Customer Service!!!!! I think Even One Star is too Much for this Place. I took my Brake Pads for Life Time warranty Exchange and they Totally Rejected me and Refused the Warranty. Had my brakes checked after being told it was low in the auto dealership, and they told me that in fact it wasn't, so I would say they're pretty honest regarding that. The wait was a bit long though, reason for one star off. I now trust them more than the Hyundai stealership nearby read more
