Came here to get a headlight fixed after first having stopped at Sears to get a quote. The guys here were extremely helpful and welcoming! I ended up paying less than half I was quoted at Sears and in under 30 minutes. Worst customer service and so damn rude when you ask a simple question about a simple tire change.

We came into this pep boys location to have our front brakes changed. We had our brakes changed, new brake pads, and a fluid exchange. It took almost 3 hours for us to leave. Within a couple of days we started hearing the same noise again. We returned to the store to let them know, and they put our car back up on the lift and again, we waited another 2 to 3 hours. We left thinking that we were set. This time, they forgot to return our wheel locks. And again, this time we started hearing the noise again. I am very hesitant to return and am about to write to corporate to see if I can drive to another location to have this service properly rendered. read more

Horrible experience with this Pep Boys and the one in Sherman Oaks. (Will post a review on their page as well). Went in after failing a smog check at a local center. They told me that i would need an engine diagnostic, but in order to receive it, i had to make an appointment for the following day as they were full. So i made the appointment for 8:30am the next day. I arrived on time and checked in the front desk. The mechanic then tells me, "oh well we don't do that here so you have to go somewhere else." Excuse me? I told him that i was specifically told what i needed from their mechanic the day before, but needed an appointment. He said "yeah i don't know what to tell you, but we don't do that here." No apology, no trying to solve the situation whatsoever. So i drove all the way to the Pep Boys in Sherman Oaks. After waiting 25 minutes, i finally was able to speak to the mechanic. He said he had to run the test and it would cost me $160. Just for the test. Fine. After about 2 hours i received a call from them saying that if i wanted my car fixed it was going to be around $800. I said okay. After about two minutes i called them back to tell them never mind because i was confident they were overcharging me. All of a sudden the mechanic says, "oh, well i made a mistake, it's going to be around $600 instead." Yeah no. Not falling for that one. Trying to take advantage of people and giving them the run around is something i don't support. Ended up going a few blocks down and getting everything done for less than $400 and included an oil change. Never will i support Pep Boys ever again. read more

I have found this location to be staffed with people who are friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable, efficient and hard working. Each time I have gone into the store and requested help, the help came quickly and led me precisely to what I needed. Options were provided and then the associate let me make up my mind. A fuse in my car blew so I had no car stereo/audio, no clock, and no control of my side mirrors. I called Pep Boys and they said they would look at it no problem. I went in the same day and a guy named Jeremy helped me. He quickly looked at my fuse box, said what was wrong, and replaced it. I was greeted with fast service and a friendly mechanic. The work was quick and inexpensive and I will definitely return if I have more car troubles. Thank you! read more

I bought tires online, set up appointment and have them installed with alignment at this Pep Boys store. When I got there they didn't have the tires, I told them I had my card charged for the tires and the Rep told me that I had to call my bank to have it reversed. Then I was advised to go to another Pep Boys 30 miles away to get the tires I was looking for, 10 mins away from that store I get a call from the Rep from this store telling me that they did indeed charge me for the tires and that they can get the tires in a couple of days. I was more then unhappy, I was traveling out of state a couple of days and I needed new tires, I had no choice other then getting the tires asap, if I wasn't in a hurry I would of cancelled everything called up my bank and have them refund the charge. If you guys don't want my business(money) you don't deserve it. Next time I'll go somewhere else. I have had so much bad experience with pep boys in Reseda 91335 I always wondered why they have no customers in the store. the first time out of so many other times that I have been to that store I have had bad customer service from your employees and your manager in the service department....I have ordered parts from that store and got an email saying that parts are at the store so I go to the store to pick it up and they say they don't have the parts and it will take about 4 to 6 hours to come from Van nuys to Reseda its only less than 10 miles.I had to go and pick up the parts myself I got to the Van nuys store only to be given an open box with the parts in it I asked if all parts arfe there your Employee told me yes I got home only to find that the mounting brackets & screws we're missing. HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO CUSTOMERS.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have made appointments to repair my car a few times trying to give you business " I can fix my car myself" have a the tow truck drop off my car only to be told they will not fix it even if I dropped it off at 12 noon that they will get to it the next day I asked to talk to the service manage he was on his private cell phone, I heard he saying to the person on the cell phone " I will call you back I need to deal with this customer" He told me that's the way it is and if I had a problem with that I can call corporate office.. I went into Pepboys today to buy windshield wipers. I left with nothing! I approached the parts counter in the back and was second in line. The older lady in front of me was buying wipers as well, she was asked by the young man if she wanted "good or cheap ones?" Are you kidding me!?!? When it was my turn I told the young man my make and model and he immediately tried to sell me the wipers that were $26-$28 per. I told him I wanted ones that were around $20 per. We found one for $17ish and one for $22 ish. I agreed. When I went to pay for them, the total came of it to $57 and change. I Asked the young lady who was checking me out, I believe her name was Jackie..... Why they were so much and she informed me that each was $25-$26. Long story short... The crooks running the parts counter tried but didn't get my business! I left without any wipers. The young lady at the checkout counter apologized after she realized I didn't get the wipers I agreed on and she offered to get me different ones. She is the only employee that seemed to care. I will never go back to this Pepboys. I have always raved about Pepboys to my friends but this one was the exception! read more

i have already been contacted, by mike s., who apologized, and offered an oil change. but as i expressed it was my whole visit to this shop. it wasn't just the slow, poor services. i got bored and ventured into the store. i wanted to purchase a key chain and had to ask the girl (who was on the phone- personal call) if she could help me, she never got off the phone, never greeted me, just kind of acted like i was interrupting her. i also wanted to go to the restroom and when i asked the guys (approx 3) who were at the parts counter where it was, i got a sarcastic its where the sign is, hahaha. like i told mike i will only consider you if i truly have an emergency and cant get anyplace else. also i have visited other pep boys over the years, west hills, panorama city. the only one i have been to with decent services is in lancaster. read more

HORRIBLE, is just one of the ways to describe customer service. I needed a headlight replaced and the gentleman from the parts section couldn't figure out what type of headlight I needed and had me go and ask a mechanic. It's not my job to got and find out what part my car takes, that's his. 3 mechanics are trying to change the headlight bulb, an hour and a half goes by and hey finally tell me my car has an electrical problem. They started putting pieces of cardboard behind the headlight because they didn't know how to reassemble it back together. I cut my car on and more headlight malfunctions are dinging than when I had brought the car in. Thanks pep boys:) read more

This location seems to suffer from having ONLY haters write bad reviews. They were literally closing shop as I pulled up with a nearly flat tire. I asked if they would put some air in my tire, without hesitation one of the guys began checking them. He quickly determined that one tire was rapidly losing air. He brought it to my attention and found a large screw in the tread. Within 20 minutes, he had repaired my tire and serviced all the other tires. He went above and beyond by working up until the last minute of closing. This place gets a bad rap, my advice is don't judge a book by it's cover. Look beyond the number of stars on Yelp. Don't expect perfection (nothing in this world is perfect) and you may be pleasantly surprised. I couldn't be more happy about having this Pep Boys in my backyard. Avoid this place like the plague. They appear incompetent but they keep giving advice and stir you in the most expensive repair and replacement possible. While waiting for the outcome of my problem I observed them scarring some a lady into an expensive repair and how they can't warranty their work if this and that is not done according to their recommendations. While I found out their warranty was worthless anyway. The best I can describe their personnel is they are like little lawyers in mechanic suites telling you how they can't do this and that because "it voids the warranty". Don't be fooled by their warranty scare it is worthless if you end up needing it. I had bought tires with warranty and promise of flat repairs etc. until I showed up needing a flat repaired. The warranty was worthless, then I decided to buy two new tires and put them on the front wheels (for a front wheel drive car) then the"lawyer mechanic"guy telling me they can't do that job because new tires "have to go on the back wheels" that's when I had enough non-sense from these people. I am unhappy with the conduct of the service from this company. I purchases some tires for my car and a few days latter I noticed that one tire was almost flat. I went back to this store and after waiting over two hours, I was told that the tire was not leaking. The service person put air in the tire and sent me on my way. A few days latter the tire went flat again. This time, after waiting 3 hours, the service person removed my car from the rack and drove it back to the parking lot. The service person was not finished with my car but decided to place another car on the same rack that my car was on. It seems that warantee issues are not a priority with this company. Once I paid for new tires, I was not welcome back with a defected tire issue. This company did not make it right for me. I will never purchase tires from this company again. read more

After making an appointment on line for a battery replacement with a set budget and price that seemingly checks out through the pep boys website for this location, I am greeted by the representative in a rude manner, who then proceeds to try and sell me a cheaper battery for more money than the next higher quality would've been according to the website. When I asked him why the $60 difference he replies with "that's an on line price, you can go ahead and set it up if you'd like". The tone and the lack of trying to work with me, left me with a very bad taste about pep boys. I myself work in the service industry and if a customer looks irritated and upset at a valuable misunderstanding, I work hard to make sure that customer is actually helped instead of being provoked and leaves happy so that I may have their business in the future. You never have customer storm out because of your nonchalant attitude and inept customer service abilities. That is a prime fail. read more

I would pick another place if possible. Went here for an oil change- you would think simple and straightforward. Noticed a leak a few days later but wasn't in the valley area. I called them to see if I could take it to a place nearby and get a refund but they told me I could only go to a pepboys. I took it to a pepboys closer to me and sure enough the leak was because something wasn't replaced properly. I won't be going back here again. read more

NEVER have I EVER felt so completely taken advantage of than I did yesterday while dealing with this horrible Pep Boys on Reseda in Northridge! I took my car in for a high mileage oil change and to check my air conditioner (as it had stopped working). I made a 10am appointment and dropped my car off at 9:45am and was told I would hear from someone shortly regarding the diagnosis on my air conditioner. At 1pm, I still hadn't heard from anyone so I called them and was in formed that the bearing on my air compressor was shot and that there was a small crack in the pin on my radiator...now this is the part you need to sit down for...the cost to repair these was...$1980!!! Now my car is 10 years old and has 192,000 miles on it...the low bluebook value is $2200...so there was NO WAY I was going to spend $1980 to fix the car! I began to cry & that's when I was told he could give me a 15% discount taking the repair cost to roughly $1700. I told him I needed a few minutes to gather myself and call him back. I called a couple of male friends (oh yea...I'm a female...which means "let's take advantage of her" in Pep Boys eyes!!!) My friends encouraged me to not have the work done there and to ask them to just finish the oil change and let me come pick my car up. So that's what I said when I called back 5 minutes later and I was then told by the same guy that the repairs could be done for $1500...so within a 5 minute period the price had come down $500. I said I appreciated the quote but I just wanted them to complete the oil change and I would come get my car. 3 hours later at around 4pm I still hadn't heard from them so I called back and was told that in the process of putting the car back together the crack in the pin on the radiator was now totally broken off and they couldn't reattach the hose to the radiator so if I attempted to drive my car home it would for sure overheat!!! I was then told it would cost me $600 to make the radiator repair! At which point I lost my cool and was given the service manager to speak to. I explained to him the entire ordeal and he told me he would only charge me $200 to repair the radiator...so again in less than 5 minutes the cost had dropped $400!!! WTF?! Then he told me he could give me a much better price on the air conditioner repair, but needed to call me back in 30 minutes to work up the new quote. 30 minutes later he called me back and told me he could do all the repairs for $1100...that's almost $900 difference from the original quote (and since my car was now not drivable and I had called a couple of local mechanics to get an estimate to repair the air conditioner & radiator (I got 2 different estimates for appx $1000) I decided to have them do the work and was told my car would be done around noon today. At 1pm today I called to enquire about my car, only to be told they were still waiting on a part to come in and would try and have my car done today. Absolutely unacceptable and I told him so. I told him I needed to pick my car up by 5pm and he said he would call me back shortly to let me know what time it would be ready. At 4:30pm I had not heard from them, so I called again and was told my car was ready...they had just forgotten to call me. Don't you think after every thing they'd put me through trying to take advantage of me with RIDICULOUSLY HIGH COSTS...they could've just called me?! When I arrived to pick up the car and go over a detailed service report, nowhere on the report was the high mileage oil change referenced! I inquired and was told they voided it on the service report in order to $0 out the charge...yet there were several $0 charges on the report, so I asked if the oil change had even been done. Of course he told me yes, so I asked that it be referenced on the report, at first he told me he couldn't but when I said I would refuse to pay until he added it to the report (as I have an account of every service ever done on my car) he reluctantly added it to the report. As I was driving home I glanced at the oil change service sticker and realized it was the old one, which lead me to believe they in fact had NOT done the oil change. So I called them immediately to re-inquire about the oil change and was placed on hold for several minutes only to be told some BS story that he had called the mechanic to verify the oil change had been done...(given that there services are all put into a computer it's interesting they couldn't just check there)! So now tomorrow I need to take my car to another mechanic to verify whether or not an oil change was actually done! CONSUMERS BE WARE...DO NOT HAVE YOUR CAR SERVICED AT THE PEP BOYS ON RESEDA IN NORTHRIDGE...unless you want to be completely ripped off and taken advantage of! read more

Edy is the worst. Wouldn't help me change my battery 15 minutes until closing because "the registers close at 8". I need a battery change. Instead he fumbles around with the battery instead of charging it like I had very clearly asked him. Clueless, he waited 5 minutes till closing to ask to jump my car. First off, if you drive a car, YOU SHOULD KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT IT (especially if you're a guy...don't be such a pansy). How anyone can be so ignorant on a product you RELY on is beyond me. Do you people not know how to change the batteries on your TV remote too?! I'm not saying you need to be ASE certified but at least know some basics. Know your tires (how to change them, size, tire pressure, how to fix a basic flat with a patch kit, etc.). Know how to check your fluids (oil and coolant being the most important...level check and how to refill and with what type of fluid. For example, what type and weight is your engine oil?). Know your bulbs (where they are, how to change them), etc. THIS IS ALL BASIC STUFF and if you don't know, GOOGLE IT! Write the info down on a piece of paper and stick it in your glove box for later reference. There are only TWO excuses for not knowing these basics; you're either RETARDED or TOO LAZY to look it up (ok a third option would be "BOTH"). I think this is the problem with modern society...a lot of people expect a lot of hand holding...for fock's sake, you're an adult, LEARN IT ON YOUR OWN or at LEAST learn enough to ask intelligent questions. I haven't delt with their service department yet so I can't comment on that. On the store side, this place is as good any auto parts store. They could use some more people who are cross trained to work the cashier position. Their checkout system is rather slow and inefficient (far too much computer entry and calling managers to approve things) so having more cashier trained people would help. My only real complaint is that I wish they would get rid of the JUNK tchotchkes. I feel like I'm in an auto parts store in TJ or New Delhi or something. Stop with all the "chrome" plated plastic junk and blinky lights already. Instead, they should be carrying some more items like BG products, Kano Products and some better brands like Exide CAR batteries (they carry Exide GOLF CART batteries...is there a large number of golf carts in Reseda, CA??) . read more

Going on a total of 9 hours in two days to replace my front and rear brake pads... Apparently, work was not done correctly the first 5 hours they had my vehicle. Brought it back today, and they told me one of the brake pads was missing a piece that caused my brakes to shudder as I hit the breaks. So, you returned my vehicle in NOT working condition? They also told me it would just be 15 minutes of work... Day 2, going on hour 4... But that wasnt the only problem, they had to retest drive it two more times and bring it back on the lift. They gave my car back, they said it was the hardware kit that had to be replaced and is good to go. I personally took it for a test drive... Different sounding thumping every time i hit the brakes. ???? Brought it right back for ROUND 3. They could at least have some coffee in the lobby, while i wait for this complicated work on a sophisticed brake system. Seriously, I hope they are building me a flux capacitor to generate me 1.21 gigawatts of braking power as long as it is taking! Just got done, it was the tire's air pressure?! I might have to take this to another shop just to have it inspected by someone else. 9 hours exactly, four brake pads replaced. Do not use this store for services. They are extremely slow and inefficient. It takes them hours to do a simple job. In addition, their waiting room doesn't have air conditioning and it feels like sauna. No restroom, no water, no coffee. This id very poor customer service. Go elsewhere for your auto services. Driving solo - lost all my coolant on the 101 late Saturday afternoon many miles between known points - temp went to "Danger!" ...got towed to Pep Boys in Reseda - the only shop still open. During the tow, I also realized most car rental places were closed...but this potential nightmare turned out fine. Super nice even though they clearly were pressed for time...they went out of their way to make sure I was not stranded. Okay, it's not a pretty area - so what? It's an urban auto service/repair. They knew what to do and were very helpful. Did I wait? Sure. Was it fixed right? Absolutely. And they showed me serious deterioration on 2 other hoses - so took care of those, too. Price...actually very reasonable. My assessment of the manager and my service tech? Integrity and honesty - wanting to do the right thing for personal satisfaction as well as customer satisfaction. If this place were closer to my stomping grounds, I would not hesitate to come back for standard upkeep on my car. Thanks Mike - you get 5 stars! read more

This store is under new management for the last 3 months, and I want to say just how much better it is now than it ever was. The new management - Rudy & Zeek - are going out of their way to restore customer service here. I've been a long time patron here - 10 years - and the last management group was not customer service oriented very much at all. Case in point: my car needed a long repair job. They came in with a final total less than the Estimate I signed. Moreover, Zeek himself drove me back to my home because the wait was going to be far too long - and that required him to drive completely out of his way by about 20 miles round trip. When I had another repair to be done (starter replacement), it was Rudy, the Service Manager himself, who again drove me to my home. And each of them offered to return to pick me up when the work was done so that I wouldn't have to spend money for a cab. During the drive, each of them made sure to ask me if I had any concerns about the store itself after finding out I was a long time customer. Both Rudy & Zeek wanted to make sure they kept my business. the fact that the Service Manager and the Assistant Service Manager took it upon themselves to act as a taxi service for me while my car was being repaired is above & beyond the call. Their work is always guaranteed. I'm glad to say that the new business model they're using is to make sure their customers are treated like customers they want to keep. That alone, in comparison to other Pep Boys shops I have been to, insures I'll keep going back. Thank you Rudy, and Thank you Zeek! read more

This Pep Boys store is horrible!! I went in on 8-1-17 to get a tire fixed/replace and I was told that my tired wasn't fixable and that i needed to buy a new tire. One of the employees in the service department told me he would order me the tire and it would be here the following day 8-2-17 and that he would call me around 3:30-4. He never called me until 6pm saying he had given my tire away to another customer. I been waiting for 2 days for this tire so they can just tell me they gave it to another customer. That is the worst customer service i have ever received. The employees lie to customers. I will never go to this Pep Boys store again. I recommend not going to this store they will lie to you and give your tires/parts away without giving a heads up. Liars!!! Horrible service!!! read more

Car upkeep is never fun, so I make a point to do some research prior to taking my car in. I came in for tires. I had researched and ordered the tires on-line, and was directed to this location where I had an appointment. When I got there, the guy behind the counter had to go check on the tires, and came back with a different tire, letting me know that they were out of the tire I came in for. He must have taken me for an idiot. He told me they were the same brand, and were comparable. The tires I had selected were for 80,000 miles, and the ones he brought out were for 40,000 miles! Was he serious? He tried selling me on these tires by telling me it was the same brand, and $4 cheaper. I was ready to leave, and he somehow managed to find the tires, and was going to get them delivered in the next hour. (Why do auto places love to waste your time?) I'm fairly confident that they had the tires I wanted the entire time. I came back a few hours later to get the tires installed. That guy was a joke. Because if him, I brought my car back for a follow up issue that I had been having, and he advised me on. When I brought it back, they were again trying to sell me stuff I didn't need.
